RCS Fireplace

The service was done well and on time. Inspection and cleaning went well and the service person explained everything he was doing as I was watching him and things to visually inspect.

They did a great job! Fireplace looks better now then when it was first purchased :-). They took everything apart, cleaned everything and artfully arranged all the logs and lava chunks into a very natural setting. Highly recommended!

They called to let us know they could arrive earlier than scheduled. They were neat and efficient and answered all our questions related to the fireplace

Rusty, owner of RCS, was great to work with. Initially, I called on him to do a thorough checkup on our gas burning fireplaces. However, once he saw the one log set and how the burner was operating, he suggested the logs and burner be replaced. This was fine as we were never happy with the appearance of this fireplace nor its operation. As a result, we wound up with an attractive gas burning fireplace that now puts out heat rather than just going up the chimney. Rusty was incredibly patient and helpful as I sifted through the multitudes of log sets, suggesting which ones might look best in our fireplace. He also cleaned and spruced up our other fireplace which always put off a gas odor for the first 20 - 30 minutes after being lit. He reworked the log layout and ash/embers, painted the grate, and replaced kinked gas tubing. Now it operates perfectly with no odor. We're quite pleased!

My gas fireplace had a one-piece glass with (2) 30 degree bends in it. It was broken and I had one shop give me a rough estimate of "six to eight hundred dollars" to replace it. I then called RCS. The receptionist was enthusiastic and indicated a much lower price.I met her on a roadside the same day and gave her the broken pieces (2) from the fireplace. Over the next 2 months, they changed from replacing it with a three-flat panel with brackets, to having the glass made with the two bends, back to the 3 panel solution. They came out twice to look for identification of the mfr. serial number or other I.D,(once was the receptionist who confessed that she was out of her area of expertise) and once or twice to take dimensions (even thought the broken pieces fit together perfectly and they should have been able to get the replacement dimensions from the broken glass). In the end I helped the technician install the three-panel glass into my fireplace. It fits, but barely, and is rather tight in the fireplace frame. The bill was in the low to mid 300 dollar range, as they had indicated early on. They put a lot of work into this , but it did take a long time, during which we could not use our fireplace. In the end I was fairly satisfied, and saved hundreds over the first estimate. Overall, I would probably use them again for this kind of repair.

It went fantastic! I LOVE this company. I was a little apprehensive with the "Angie's deal" because my gas fireplace is 18 years old and has never been serviced. It's been used a lot throughout the years, because I love to have a fire going most of the time. I was afraid they'd say it was in terrible condition and would need a major overhaul for a hefty price. The reviews for this company were very good so I thought that I'd take a chance. I was delightfully surprised. The great service started with Rita, who called me three different times trying to schedule an appointment for the service. She was diligent about reaching me, which I appreciated. I've been know to let more than one Groupon expire because I would buy it and then forget it. Rita was persistent. When I finally called her back I told her I had to schedule the service on a Friday, preferably on the upcoming Friday since I had already scheduled a day off work for a hot water heater to be installed. This was on Monday of the same week. At first Rita didn't think she could schedule anything for Friday, but she said she'd call some people and ask if they'd be willing to move their appointment to a different day. I was very happy when Rita called me back with my Friday appointment, which was perfect. The young man that did the service was Mark. He was on time and very professional. He did a really good job on cleaning the fireplace and said it was in good condition (thank goodness!). I told him the inside looked bad because my ex-husband (the wanna-be-repairman) had spray painted it with black paint that didn't do well in the fireplace. There were weird white drip spots on the black paint. Mark said he could paint it for me. I told him that would be great if he could paint it and asked how much it would cost. He said it was part of the service, which of course made me very happy. Mark then asked me if someone had used Windex to clean the glass, and of course, that was me. He said it would build up on the glass and burn onto it, making a white color on the glass (which I had noticed and could never get off). Mark used a special fireplace glass cleaner and it looks brand new. Mark also cleaned the burners in front so now a flame actually comes up in front of the logs, which I didn't even realize it could do that. He said they were clogged and he had cleaned them. He also added some of the stuff in front that makes it glow like it has ambers burning. It looks really nice. My fireplace looks brand new. I'm extremely happy with the service. Rita and Mark are both fabulous. I still can't believe my good luck on getting this done for only $99.00. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone that needs fireplace maintenance or work, and I will certainly use them again. The best!

RCS is a great company. All appointments were kept and the work performed was great. We have an old house and this was not the easiest install, but Rusty and his team kept working until they found a way to make it work. Thanks to RCS we were able to have a warm, wonderful fire to go with our holiday celebrations.

See above. The serviceman was effecient and clean and professional. He fixed everything and serviced each little part and fixed the wiring. The wiring was defective because the fire would go out periodically for no reason. He just checked each and every part and made sure it was running perfectly and efficiently and in a safe way. Before leaving, he cleaned the entire area and made sure we had no questions. The young man was just so clean and took his shoes off too. I would recommend RCS to anyone having any difficulty with their gas fireplace.

Work was completed quickly when it was scheduled. Surround wasn't quite complete when they installed the insert but Russ and Rita were very flexible in scheduling the remaining work. It can be a bit difficult getting hold of them at times but they do great work for such a small crew.

I spoke with Rita over the phone. We played phone tag a little, but she was fairly responsive even though it was around Thanksgiving. After a few calls we got a fireplace repair scheduled for Dec. 30th at 8:30am. It was a long wait, but the earliest she could get us on the schedule. She said she would call if there were any cancellations between now and then. Fine. I never got a call. Well, then Dec. 30th rolls around and at 8:45am, I call because no one has shown up to repair our fireplace. I had to leave a message but Rita called back within a few minutes. She said she doesn't have us on their schedule anywhere. She also said she thought she was waiting for a call back from me or something. She seemed very confused and said she'd look through her emails. I said I never communicated with her through email. Then she said she'd look through her list of Home Advisors contacts and I said I didn't contact her through Home Advisors. It was a mess. I said to forget it and that I would find another company. It's unfortunate that their administrator is so disorganized because they are probably a fine service provider, but I will never know. It's unforgivable to make someone wait a month for a repair and then not show up at all.

Scheduling was a bit challenging, as they were booked pretty far into the future, however, I had bought a deal, so I chose to be patient. Great service, friendly receptionist and technician. Technician was unfortunately delayed severely, and although I had rushed home from work early to meet him, I ended up waiting a couple of hours longer. They kept me informed of the delay, though.

I called this company for a service on a gas fireplace because of the high ratings on Angie's list. Spoke to Rita and asked to be scheduled for a service on the fireplace as well as 2 standalone gas heaters. I made it clear that the critical one was the fireplace. She assured me I was on the schedule for a specific date and time two weeks out, and said she would confirm with the owner that he could do all 3 in that timeframe and get back to me. Now I'm two days away from the appointment and still haven't heard back. So I try calling the RCS number, and it just rings forever. I called twice this morning, constant ringing -- no answer or voice mail. Half an hour later, I get a call from Rita. She apparently was calling because she saw my missed call. Said they don't have voice mail, so if she's on the phone it will just ring. I explained why I was calling and she looked at her schedule and didn't have me scheduled at all. Said she would "fit me in" but at this point I have no confidence that would happen. And if it didn't, I'd be stuck listening to a ringing phone with no voice mail again. No thank you. I'll call a company with better reliability.

Overall, it was a good experience. The technician was a bit late; traffic and outside this neighborhood travel. However, he made up for it with his professional attitude and work ethic. I was pleased with how he cleaned the glass door and vacuumed the inside of the stove. Raul took great care in his work. He had never worked on this particular stove before so that made for a challenge. (It's quite different than the new stoves) Yet, he managed to get the stove going over time. I think the price was a bit high but I am pleased with the outcome. I would definitely recommend the company. I like to use local folks.

He did exactly what we expected him to do.

He examined both fireplaces and show me how they work. He also showed how both fireplaces need to be upgraded from their 1985 start. He decided to apply the cost of the special to the price of replacing the fireplaces and I took him up on the offer. The new fireplaces will be installed in a couple of weeks.

I was very happy with the job that was done. Recommended them to my friend and he was happy as well.

Both times I contacted this provider the woman that answered the phone was extremely pleasant and assured each time I called back that the technician Rusty would get back to me. Needless to say I have never heard from Rusty or received a return call or a quote on my projects. Don't bother calling this company unless you have a very large job. Two chances in my book is more than enough! I finally contacted another company they came out in two days performed the service for just under $200. that the woman on the phone at RCS said the preliminary estimate for moving my gas fireplace was $1,000.

They were great. The tech was at the home for 45 minutes. His clean up was great.

The provider was contacted from the listing of a Big Deal! after the purchase I was contacted and spoke with the Technician to set the appointment. I made it clear to him that I just bought a new house and the service would NOT be needed at the billing address, and gave him the Service address to which the service is needed. I took time off work even though I have someone at the house nearly 24/7. I waited thru he window of time that was given for the appointment and they were a no show. So I called the office and was told that he showed up and no one was at the residence and that he left a business card on the bricks by the door. I knew that could not be the case and to went to the wrong address because there are no bricks outside my new home. This is unacceptable and would no longer need their service. This provider did not follow simple instructions i have no time for this. Amex refunded my money as service not performed. Several weeks latter I was called back by provider to get scheduled to perform the work. I nformed her that we no longer needed the service and that I was refunded the money already.

Went perfectly. Our 24 year old gas fireplace hasn't ever gotten a lot of use, and when we tried to start it for the first time in several years I couldn't get pilot light. I saw a $200 tune up deal on Angies List and booked it. They didn't intend that for repairs, but did it all anyway...great service!

This turned out just fine. They ended up replacing the entire unit. They credited the amount towards a new unit. I am pleased with it and it was a good experience. They were easy to deal with and they did a nice tidy job. It works well.

Excellent work, found the problem, repaired it without trying to make me think it needed costlier repairs. Very honest.
