Great! Where there was once shelving in our living room, there is now a gas fireplace. We love the warmth and ambiance it provides. RCS did all the work as scheduled. They built the box, installed the gas line and fireplace and tiled the face. We had an existing mantle which they tied into. We asked them to paint the wood to match the mantle which they did. They worked within our schedule. We appreciate their work and are now enjoying our new fireplace. ps We provided the tile and permits.

Rusty gave us a fair bid and he was very good about explaining the product the services and the basis of all costs. He was responsive and was able to schedule an install within two weeks. They showed up on time, were courteous, and explained everything they had done and what we could expect from our new fireplace. I also liked the electrician he used, and plan to contact them when we have more projects. Importantly, we did not get any of the "two girls fixing up their house" comments that we have gotten on other bids and for other projects. Rusty and his crew got the job done and we love our new fireplace. Almost forgot, our tv provider conveniently neglected to tell us that we were responsible for taking the old satellite down ... Rusty took care of that as well.

My project began with the idea of removing a very tall (over 20 feet) wood (T1-11) framed chimney which was showing mold and dry rot. Pretty typical of this type of chimney if more than 10 years old. My house was over 20 years old. It also had a metal vent cap which birds loved to hammer on in the spring... it was extremely annoying. I was hoping to tear down the tall wood chimney in favor for a smaller wood chimney that would house a gas rear vent fireplace. I had envisioned that the smaller chimney would only be about 10 feet tall with a roof. I already had a couple of bids from local contractors for the removal and rebuild of a rear vent gas chimney. I went on Angie's List and started looking for a local fireplace seller/installer. RCS Fireplace was highly recommended. I met the owner of RCS (Rusty) and discussed the purchase and installation of a gas fireplace. Rusty scheduled to come to my home so that he could check out the opening of the current fireplace. He arrived exactly at the agreed upon time. We discussed various options including using the current chimney as is. We also discussed the type of gas fireplace that would fit the current brick opening on the inside of the house. Then we discussed the options (i.e., remotes, variable speed blower, etc.) that can be added to the basic gas fireplace and their advantages and disadvantages (i.e, maintenance). Rusty asked if he could include a bid for the chimney removal and rebuild to the purchase and installation of the gas fireplace, I said sure. Rusty's bid for the chimney removal and rebuild came in over a thousand dollars less than the other contractors. So I accepted Rusty's bid to handle the whole project. Rusty began the project himself by arriving (on time again) and tearing down and removing the old chimney (took 1 day). He sealed the opening with plastic assuring the house would not leak from rain. The next day material was delivered for the new framing. The framer came as scheduled (also on time) and started his part of the project. Some of the material delivered was the wrong match and the house had to resealed in plastic again. The replacement material arrived in the next couple of days and the framer returned to complete the framing. The back of the chimney wall was setup to be be easily removed because we had to wait for a couple of weeks for the gas fireplace to arrive from the manufacturer. However, with the framing completed this allowed my painter (another project I had going at the same time) to paint the new wood house siding and chimney. Rusty called and said that the fireplace arrived. Rusty arrived at his scheduled time again and began work on removing the old wood fireplace and installing the gas fireplace. He also piped the gas line in and added a shutoff valve. This was a full one day project. The fireplace worked well as expected however I didn't like taking off the lower panel each time I wanted to turn the gas burner on (it was my idea do it this way... I just didn't know how annoying that would be). I called Rusty and he came over the next morning. He installed a remote switch to turn on/off the fireplace. He also (that morning before coming to my home) cut, bend and painted a long piece of metal to cover a small gap between the firelplace and hearth. The gap was small enought that I didn't even noticed it but I have to admit it added a nice overall finish. The remote and metal work he gave to me free... that was a nice surprise. Rusty really believes in good customer service and he knows his products. I would have to agree with the other Angie's List members that RCS Fireplace is a very good company to work with on your fireplace project.

Were called to do annual clean out of pellet stove. Since this is the first time I have used them for a house that I moved in less than a year ago, I do not have anything to compare to. It did end up cost an extra $190 dollars to replace a part that was in bad shape. The part was left for me to see in case I had any questions. I did appreciate it. Explained what needed to be done to keep pellet stove in good working order.

Initially it took a few days and some phone tag to get a hold of Rusty, but once I did he was very up front with me about coming out to see my fireplaces and the fact that it would cost about $150 for a fireplace service. We arranged the time and he showed up earlier given that an earlier appointment got canceled. He inspected my wood burning fireplace and gave me some solid advice on running it vs. not running it. Then with my gas fireplace taught me how to work the fireplace (since the igniter doesn't work.). He also explained that because of how the logs in my fireplace were arranged that was the origin of some soot and other buildup. He also warned about other buildup that will naturally occur as we use it as well as how to clean the fireplace when that time comes. I was very happy with the knowledge he clearly had and that he wasn't trying to sell me any extra things I didn't need.

At first it was very hard to get in contact with him. I was going to cancel the deal but found a way for us to work out the deal. He came out and did an excellent job. He was very thorough and he answered any questions I had. After my disappointment with the original customer service, I couldn't have been happier with the service when he came to do it.

Rusty took our gas insert apart and cleaned it top to bottm. He vacuumed out the inside, making sure all the parts were clean and unclogged. He washed the inside and outside of the glass front. He even used some black paint to touch up the black iron surrounding the glass. It looks brand new! He replaced a switch that was faulty, and showed us how to use a few features we were unclear on. We really appreciate his kindness and professional manner while he was in our home. We are thrilled with how great the fireplace looks.

RCS Fireplace was wonderful. They're an excellent company and nice people. I like that they did what they advertise they would do as far as cleaning. They made some recommendations of things that they would suggest they would do but they didn;t push it. They were very clean; they cleaned up their mess and they were just real nice people.

RCS was great to work with from beginning to end. They promptly gave us a bid after discussing options with us, and completed the installation in a single day. We had a small issue with the insert after the installation and RCS came out and repaired it the same day we called. The fireplace looks fantastic and works perfectly.
