+ 0 moreHe was just awesome!! On time, very professional, low key, efficient. This was an Angie's list special for $99.00 so I expected to pay extra for anything over just basic cleaning. He did not even respond with extra charges when I asked how much I owed him - the service had been prepaid on the special. I will use him again and again as long as I have gas fireplaces and the glass get dirty - it would have taken me all day to do this - and it would have only be 1/2 as good!!
Description of Work: Took the glass cover and frame off my gas fire place - removed the logs - cleaned the glass and entire interior and the logs, spray painted areas inside the box that were scratched, checked the operational effectiveness of everything, adjusted the pilot and repaired the switch that was not working properly.

+ -1 moreI have to admit that I didn't realize gas fireplaces needed maintenance until I saw the Big Deal on Angie's List. I immediately purchased the Big Deal as I had NEVER had my Fireplace checked in the 16 years I have owned my house! Russ arrived on time for our appointment and was totally professional. He took my gas fireplace apart, checked it over, cleaned everything up (you should have seen the size of the dust bunnies in there), scrapped out the rust, repainted it, and most importantly cleaned the mineral deposits from the glass which was so incredibly cloudy! He did outstanding work and I highly recommend him and his company!

Totally cleaned it and repainted inside, it works fabulously and no more rattle noise, plus we now can use our remote! Bedroom fireplace - we have never attempted to turn on since the purchase of our home which we purchased in foreclosure over 3 years ago. Completely cleaned and serviced now! I am so excited for winter to come (kinding) cannot wait to use both fireplaces! I learned more than I ever knew about gas fireplaces and I will always use RCS in my future. They were beyond professional and believe me when purchasing a home like ours plus having 4 rentals, I have dealt with many, many companies I will never hire again. This was a win win! Thank you!

+ 0 moreRusty, the person who came out, was fine, but he wasn’t able to do anything since it didn’t need cleaning out. He seems like a good guy, and I will be using him for an outdoor fireplace. He was also easy to communicate with and he seemed proficient.

+ -1 moreFireplace looks like new and the "glowing embers' which hadn't glowed for 7 years are now working. Did a good job of explaining how things worked and what to watch for since there was some concern about one of the circuits. If and when that circuit goes I'd call RCS to fix it!

+ -1 moreHe did a really good job. I paid for the fireplace cleaning for this year and next year. Basically, he came out. He gave me a one-hour window. He said that he would be here between 2:30 and 3:30. He actually showed up like at 2:45. He was on time and very courteous. He had another guy with him that he was training. They came in and brought a sheet in so that they would not get anything on my carpet which was nice. They took their shoes off the door. They took everything out. They cleaned the glass and the inside of the fireplace. He repainted the inside of the fireplace because with the heat eventually the paint burns off. He checked everything and relit the fireplace. It looks brand new. He is very thorough and explained everything. I actually told him that I did not know how to turn the power lights off and on and when he finished he showed me how to turn every thing off and turn it back on. I think he was very well priced. It was well worth the money for what I paid for.

I was told that they were booked pretty solid, but that the scheduler was going to try to tighten up the schedule and get back to me. She was able to get me in within the week. It was great doing business with a person who was willing to go the extra mile for me, her customer. The technician was punctual, courteous, and knowledgeable. He offered suggestions that I might consider with regard to my fireplace but was not in the least bit pushy. He was great! I would use these folks again, and I would highly recommend them. Thanks RCS Fireplace! I am a VERY satisfied customer.

+ 2 moreLike I described earlier...appointment scheduling is quite unprofessional but the actual service of having my fireplace fixed was great.
Description of Work: There was a problem with my fireplace because it wouldn't light up. The pilot light worked so it was fixed and cleaned and didnt take terribly long. The only drawback of the company is the weird communication with Rita, their receptionist. First she said she didn't know when to schedule me in and had to call me back. Very odd that she would need to do this and learned when the service guy came that he comes out to the Issaquah area pretty regularly. Rita even told me how I should attempt to fix my fireplace myself. Thought that was why I called or I would've looked it up online or watch YouTube videos. Then it snowed on the day of my scheduled appointment which Rita called and said was cancelled. she told me she would call me back to reschedule once she got into the office. Guess she never made it because I never got a call back and being busy for the holidays it also slipped my mind until a few weeks later to reschedule. After setting up my appointment she calls to ask me to move my time slot to earlier. Really? Then on the day of the service she frantically tries to get in touch with me because she couldn't find my address on the gps. Why? She wrote down the wrong address.

Found out they also clean furnaces and set up an appt for him to do that as well. He returned a few weeks after at our appointed time and did a great job on our furnace as well. Highly recommend them!

+ -1 moreAfter giving all of my pertinent facts (ie, name address, etc), I was told by the woman answering the phone that they schedule according to geographical area and they would call me back to schedule an appointment. Two days later they called back but I missed the call. The next day, I called the number left on the phone message left and started all over.... 5-6 minutes of answering questions and then told they would call me back. When I protested having to wait for another call back, the person on the other end looked up my location on mapquest while I waited another 3 to 4 minutes. The next time they would be in my area.... 3 1/2 weeks.... forget about it. Really slow customer service.

+ -1 moreThe whole process with RCS was great. Promptly returned my call initially and spent a bunch of time on the phone trying to troubleshoot the issue for free. When we couldn't get it working over the phone we scheduled the service a couple of weeks out, which was fine for my timing. They also called when an earlier appointment became available which was nice. Rusty came out and did the work. He got the fireplace working in under ten minutes and offered to let my just pay a small trip fee to leave it at that, but I chose to do the full service and really glad I did. The cost was very reasonable in my opinion, especially for what he did. He took apart the entire unit, cleaned out what looked like 20 years of grime that had built up, cleaned everything so it looks like the fireplace is brand new. He even repainted the inside when it was too hard to clean. Everything looks just great. Rusty showed up right on time, worked quickly and cleanly. Both Rusty and the gal handling the phones were very nice and I would recommend them very highly.

+ -1 more1st contactaced in October and earliest avail was Nov 19 (other vendors had similar availability). Arrived on time, worked on the two fireplaces. Got one working, needed a part for the 2nd. 1st one stopped working again within a couple of days. Called to get an estimate re when the new part would be avail, this took a couple of weeks, got scheduled, fixed 2nd fireplace and determined a new part was needed for the 1st fireplace. More time passed, got on the schedule to have 1st fireplace fixed on 1/24. Rusty was friendly and arrived on time, my only issues are that it took a looooooonnnnngggggg time (3 visits) to get the work done and I had to pay for the revisit for the re-repairing of the 1st fireplace.

+ -1 moreProvider is very very hard to reach. NEVER returns a phone call. All you get is a phone recording saying "We valve your business, so please leave a message and we'll get right back to you".. What a joke that is ! When I finally did get through, a lady answered and by the tone of her voice I felt like I was bothering her for calling. I tried to explain the situation with my fireplace and she got all jazzed up and told me she had to talk with her tech and call me back for when he could come out. I NEVER got a call back and had to call RCS back. After several more attempts to reach them (leaving messages which were never returned), I finally got through again and a man answered. He made me an appointment, but I would have to wait five weeks before their guy could come out to me place in Covington. Unfortunately, my elderly father answered the door for the tech when he came and not knowing who he was, my father sent him away.. So I'm back to square #1 ! Trying to reach them, leaving messages and getting NO replies.. Regardless of what RCS Fireplace says on their answering machine, they very much are NOT about customer service. In fact, they are only about NO SERVICE !
Description of Work: EXTREMELY hard to reach and there was NO SERVICE ! Not very customer friendly and certainly not into customer service ! Highly recommend you don't waste your time trying to call them or try getting any serve out of them. They are just a great waste of valuable time.

+ 1 moreWell they were at my house on time, verified the situation with the gas insert. They founf that the main vaulve was off behind the insert and they turned in back on for us. Most incredibly was that even though they came to Tacoma all the way from Auburn since they didnt perform an actual service call it was free. That really struck me. In todays world everyone wants to charge for everything. This action let me see how honest and caring this Business and its owner is. I would definitely recommend this business, RCS Fireplaces.
