I contacted this company for a recommendation of a computer system that would be adequate for my photography hobby. The person I talked with recommended the system I ultimately had them build for me. This system was not only adequate but, has performed flawlessly since I first started using it almost five years ago. I will need to upgrade to keep up with technology in the near future and Puget Systems will thecompany I will use to recommend and build my new system. Needless to say I give Puget Systems my highest recommendation.

I was looking for a desktop computer that was made in the USA. During my research I found out that most parts of all computers are made outside the US but there are companies that at least assembled here. When I found the Puget Systems website, it was very informative and detailed the quality of their product and how it was different from the mass producers; it is a small company that gives personal service in addition to superior quality parts; For example, many of the internal components are mounted on silicon grommets to reduce vibration and noise; I literally cannot hear my computer while it is running; Salesperson Wilson Chau provided very helpful advice when I asked about video and sound card options; there is no pressure to buy; the cost is a little more but you get what you pay for in the long run; they also include lifetime labor and tech support, a huge plus. I am very happy with my experience with Puget Systems and definitely would recommend them to anyone looking for the products they offer.

This was the best computer buying experience of my life, going back twenty years, buying a system about every two years. I have bought computers from Zeos (if you remember them), Gateway and Dell (both were good suppliers many years ago), Falcon NW and Maingear (both pretty good but Puget is better). Puget beats the likes of Gateway and Dell because those retailers no longer really customize systems. Also, they fill their systems with unwanted bloatware. Falcon NW and Maingear do better than the mainline retailers, but Puget beats them both in my opinion. It's harder to describe, but many of the boutiques seem to be focused on appearances. Puget is more focused on substance. I spoke to several technicians before I ordered my Puget, and I had the feeling of a corporate culture where the boss wouldn't object to an employee convincing a customer to spend less money. That's unusual these days, but in the final analysis it means I can trust them. While my computer was being built, Puget's website kept me continually updated on their progress. The packaging was such that you probably could have dropped it off a building and not hurt it. The specs, benchmarks, recovery utilities, etc., shipped with the system would be unheard of from the Dell/Gateway crowd. Though the Falcon/Maingear crowd do include some of that, again I felt Puget's was better. The only remaining question is whether Puget is worth the premium over building your own. Of course the first question is can you build your own? Then, do you have the time to research compatabilities, place orders, deal with shippers, assemble, troubleshoot, and here's the real kicker--deal with vendors if there does happen to be a problem. This can turn into a many hour deal very easily. To me it's worth the money. Bottom line, one of the best companies I have ever worked with.

It was a rewarding experience starting with working up the specifications with customer service (Wilson Chau) to powering it up when it was delivered. It has worked without a hitch for 2 1/2 years. This desktop computer is small enough to easily place in the car, carry up stairs and set up at a different location where a large monitor is also available. It is just as powerful as a larger desktop computer but much more portable. Wilson Chau in customer service was knowledgeable and very responsive to all of my inquiries. I am very satisfied with the experience and the product they built.

lf1Buying my computer: From the first contact (probably 2001, When I bought my first computer from Puget Systems) I was treated like I'm buying 200 computers instead of ONE! I received wise counsel before ordering. After, I was kept informed by email almost daily, detailed progress of building my machine. Everything done in timely manner. Some years after--January 2008--I bought from Puget a second machine (laptop) and few years later when the Hard Drive began to fail, they Air Expressed me a new one AFTER WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. All free to me, including return of failed HD. I did not even have to leave my house, delivered to me personally. Very satisfied with the "no questions" handling of this. NOTE: They are NOT cheap, but Puget uses top-shelf quality components, and I had many opportunities to choose exactly what I wanted installed. Would I recommend them?Oh, YESSSS! But they are not for the person who wants to walk into a Walmart, and walk out with their $399.00 machine. It is QUALITY AND SERVICE, I say! Puget removes all of the stress which might occur in spending hundreds of bucks on a computer from a company (how many???) 3,000 miles away from my home in Naples FL.
Description of Work: I bought a laptop computer from Puget Systems, my second from this company. Was happy both times with consultation, promises kept, equipment, and it was shipped ahead of time.

Everything was fine for the first few months until I started having problems with system errors and blue screens. Since I live in California, I worked with their support group via email. They gave me several troubleshooting tools. I ran tests and sent them the results. We did everything from replacing hardware to reinstalling the system from scratch. This went on for several months. My warranty ran out, but they extended it so this problem could be resolved under it. It helped that their support guys are easy to work with. I eventually mailed the system back to them. I was worried that it wouldn't fail for them (like cars do) but luckily it did. The problem wasn't straightforward but they fixed it and mailed it back to me. It has worked fine ever since. I'm very happy with it. Even though this problem was a painful experience, I would still buy another system from Puget. I'd think it was an unusual occurance.
Description of Work: I purchased my computer from Puget Systems. I did so because my husband bought his computer from them previously and was happy with it. The one I bought has an i5 cpu with 64 bit Windows 7 and 8GB of memory. I liked that I could configure it myself. I picked out the motherboard, disks, memory, cpu, video card, etc. They helped me decide betwen the many choices based on my budget and how I was going to use the system. I looked at other brands but Puget had the most options.

Computer was late arriving. They claimed they had part delivery issues, but a quick internet search found many suppliers of the part that was "unavailable" in stock. Computer arrived and started having problems the first night. Windows Blue screen. Called them and they suggested that the memory or cables may have come loose. Wanted me to open the case and re-seat all cables, video card, and memory modules. When that did not fix the problem, they suggested that I turn the fan speeds up. Now I had them build me this computer so it would be near silent in my family room. I reminded them that I had extra fans in the case so they could run slower. They told me this was for a test only. Made sense at the time, so turned the fans up. No change, system still failing, and now much noisier. They sent me new memory modules, they helped a little, but system still either hung up or crashed a couple of times a week when it was usually only used in the evenings. At this point they washed their hand of me. They refused to support it any more. Refused to take it back to work on it, nothing. Just stopped answering my emails or return my phone calls. The reason I wanted a custom computer builder was I didn't have time to do it myself. I also wanted a system that was tailored to my desires. They provided a system that mostly worked (after I eventually figured it out on my own), but I spent almost as much time having to do all the repair and diagnostic work myself, as I would have building it myself, from scratch. As I write this I'm still using their computer (good) but I had to do extensive rework and I have to keep the fans turned up so loud that it is much nosier than off the shelf units. I would not recommend this provider to anyone who is not very capable of doing their own repair and diagnostic work on a computer, because they refused all attempts of having me ship it back to them for repair. You need to be comfortable opening the case and removing components and putting them back in. If you don't have that comfort level I would stay clear of this provider.

Thanks for posting this review, Customer. When a component fails in a PC, we do provide the option of either sending the PC in for repair, or to have us send out a new component to have you install it. Many people choose to get the component sent out because it is much faster and easier. If you're not comfortable doing that, you certainly don't have to! Also, we most definitely didn't stop responding to you! Our records show that we followed up with you on 8/15/2008 after you received your replacement memory, but never were able to reach you, and never got a return phone call or email. After two months, we gave up trying to reach you and closed our ticket. Please get in touch, we want the opportunity to make this right!

Overall, I got some use out of the computer. But the continual major failures forced me to give up on it way before I got benefits from it anywhere close to a portion of my investment of money and time in it. (a Marvell
Description of Work: They sold me a desktop computer. The computer worked OK for a couple of months, when major things began to fail. For example, they had installed the operating system on the wrong disk. When I noticed mysterious failures, they told me about the OS mixup. I had to wipe everything clean and install the OS on the correct disk. They talked me through this over the phone because they do not have any local support. Not long after this, the monitor (an expensive 30" Samsung LCD) failed. I had to go through Sony myself to get a refund. I also had to get a replacement monitor on my own. The last straw was when the disks failed. I had the disks replaced locally at my own expense and now use that computer as a backup. I bought a computer from a different company to serve as my main machine. Both Ethernet network interface cards also gave me major headaches. The computer had two cards. One failed completely right away and the other was able to connect successfully only about 60% of the time. Unfortunately, they had built both cards into the motherboard; so, they were impossible to replace without getting a new motherboard. Anyone who buys a computer from this firm has to be an enthusiast who has capabilities to rebuild the machine from the ground up.

Thanks for the review Customer. This was 4 years ago, so I'll respond the best I can with the records I have. I don't show any records of the OS being installed on the wrong disk -- you have two identical 1TB disks in your PC, so I am unsure how installing to one or the other could be considered the "wrong" disk. I do show we worked with you on a number of networking issues, but they traced back to a 'network magic' program you installed, and your ethernet wiring to the PC. I'm sorry your disks failed -- we would have liked to have worked with you on that, but you only contacted us after you had replaced them. It seems unlikely that they would both fail at the same time, and is possible they didn't actually fail, but I can't really speak to that since we weren't involved. I'm very sorry for the frustrations you encountered, regardless of whether or not it was a fault of our product and service.

Bought a high end desk top computer. Had a usb card installed that never worked correctly. Had to send back a 50lb computer so they could try and fix it, but it never did work correctly. Had 2 high end dvd drives installed at the time and when it became time to install windows 7, they could not read the windows disks. There was other things they could also not read. Has to do work arounds to install Windows 7. Windows finally crashed here in 2012 and when we tried to reinstall Windows, the system could not install it. Had to remove the high end DVD and replace it with a cheap used one so it could read the windows disk but alas, it could never install it. We finally installed Linux temporarily until I could purchase a new windows 8 all in one. The one thing you could say is that it was big enough that you could easily work inside it. Over all not a pleasant experinece, especially for the amount of money I spent. Let the buyer beware.

I ordered my computer after discussing my needs with a staff person. When I ordered my computer they gave it a number and I was able to track its progress while it was being built from their website. I saw the performance check tests and knew just when it shipped. A notebook of the parts your computer has and the test results comes with the computer. I am really happy with the computer and the company behind it!
Description of Work: I am a digital artist and wanted to have a computer that would fit my specific needs. I bought my computer from Puget in 2010. They are a great company! They keep complete records on the computer from original performance check to any sort of incident that you might call them about. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about their product. They built it. They use the best parts for your budget. They have a lifetime service agreement and will respond as soon as possible with any questions. Sometimes that may take a day. they have set hours and do not have a huge round the clock tech department. But it is person to person help with the people who built the equipment. My computer is just what I wanted, I have confidence in the support that Puget can and has supplied. It was a great choice. I would not hesitate to highly recommend Puget as a source for custom built computers. Three years after I purchased my computer i am still satisfied.

We were looking for a computer hardware supplier for our small business. We typically buy one computer at a time, usually 1-2 per year. I had noted some positive reviews for Puget and gave them a chance. The computer (they had told us this) would take some time to deliver as it is built following our order, but it took 2-3 weeks. It was a standard business-based Windows 7 machine but has had numerous problems not typical of Windows 7 machines, particularly with its connection to our server and Exchange. It lasted only a bit more than 2 years and crashed. It is not operable today.

Member -- thank you for your review! There are a few things that are puzzling to us, however. You ordered your PC on Monday, 11/30/2009 at just after 8pm. We shipped the PC on 12/09/2009, 7 business days later. Regarding the issues you experienced, we looked at all our records for your account, and the only issue you ever reported to us was a quickly fixed issue with a wireless adapter. If you experienced other issues, you need to tell us or we can't help you! We would greatly appreciate the opportunity to work with you to resolve them! After you choose a configuration on their website, they follow up via email if you want feedback on the combination you have chosen. They will email you but do not overwhelm you, it seems more helpful than annoying. Once you place an order they give an accurate estimate of when the system will ship. Billing has never been a problem, and the computer (a desktop model) arrived in great shape.
Description of Work: Excellent custom computer firm. If you are looking for a quiet system, they do a great job, offer excellent advice about configuring your computer and are prompt and efficient shippers. The only drawback is there are no user manuals provided, you have to get them yourself from the component manufacturers' websites.

These folks do a great job. I work in a quiet office and am extremely sensitive to mechanical noises. Puget custom-builds computer systems to be extremely quiet. It costs more than those from the budget consumer brands but is more than worth it to me. I configured a system based on the options menu on the web site. Soon after I saved a quote I was contacted by email by one of their people who promptly answered a couple of questions about the configuration. The system shipped 10 days after I place the order and arrived in perfect condition thanks to the very careful packing. The system was fully configured and ready to go after unpacking. The documentation is outstanding, with all the system information, disks, and test data neatly arranged in a 3-ring binder. In addition, all of the spare parts were shipped with the system. The machine has run perfectly from day 1 (10 months and counting) with no problems whatsoever, and best of all I cannot hear any fan noise at all. I would definitely do business with them again. Thanks! Do: check them out if you want an excellent, high-quality computer system at a fair price that you can't hear don't: use them if price is the only thing that matters to you.

As I had told Puget Systems, This was the best experience I have had with any computer perches process ever. There was no faults in any area with the way I was treated. The staff of Puget Systems was very knowledgeable about what was going on at anytime with the build. The company as it is right now, customer oriented. Go look at any computer manufacture review, when you see more bad reviews than good, why would you buy? Pugets reviews are almost non believable, that is to say there is far more good things customers say than bad. The web site will explain it all. believe it, it's true
Description of Work: Puget was contacted in Nov. 2011, request was to build 2 Puget System Spirit desktops. Components for both computers were customer selected ,my request was submitted. My customer service Rep. (Jeff Stubbers) Was a complete joy to deal with. This was typicial of the whole experience with Puget Systems. Build up date was just days after placing the order. A link was provided so progess could be monitored by the customer, complete with pictures of the build process. Build time was well within reason.
