Puget Systems

I had a mechanical fault within six months. They replaced the piece with a better piece. I shipped it to them and they shipped it back for no additional charge. They have been exceptional and have given me what I need.

They were very prompt and their site allowed me to track the progress of the building of my system. The computer was shipped very well-protected and everything arrived on time. The set-up instructions were very clear and the system still runs just fine. Once your system arrives don't expect to hear from the company again, as you will with some of the "big names"; no after-marketing, updates, tips, etc.

They worked with me over email to customize the various components, and went to great lengths to locate a custom case to fit the desired components. They also custom machined the case door to insert a clear window, added internal lights, custom mounted a custom external radiator, with 9 attached fans (for the liquid cooling system), and mounted an additional internal fan on the window. When it was built, they performed lots of tests, provided a report with images, including infra-red heat images showing hot-spots. In fact, it was the infra-red hot spot test that found the problem that was fixed by adding the extra/custom fan that they machined into perfect place on the window to address the hot spot. The machine arrived intact (it was very professionally packed) and worked out of the box. It has been a stellar machine to both work and game on - and runs a three 30inch monitor system with various virtual machines. However, such a machine and services do not come cheap. It's above the price range for your average user. But if you're looking for top of the line components, top-notch service to help you with a custom build, and are ready to pay for that really costs - than Puget Systems is the place to go. Top-notch quality all around.

Right stuff. Right info at the right time

Puget Systems has built 3 computers for me. Most recently, my favorite notebook computer "died." Their service department no longer had access to replacement parts for this model but made many creative "heroic" attempts to "revive" it and kept me apprised of actions and options every step of the way. When nothing worked, their representatives helped me choose a new computer by writing a specific comparison of my old computer's specs vs their recommended replacement model's specs. The comparison and description were incredibly helpful to me since I am not particularly computer-savvy. Although the process took several weeks from start to finish (ordering parts for a possible solutions, etc.), the result was a wonderful new notebook computer that does exactly what I want it to do...and they returned the hard drive from my old computer which they'd housed in an casing to make it a usable external hard drive. Great company!

When I decided to buy a high-end quiet Linux server I did quite a bit of research on-line and eventually chose Puget Systems, which turned out to be extremely good choice. They are very professional and friendly. They customer build the system with high-end components. During build and testing the updates are posted on-line. The machine arrived on time with professional packaging. It runs incredibly quiet - When I put an ear close to the case all I can hear is the fans of my quiet laptop several feet away. There should be no problem at all leaving it in the bedroom, as I originally intended. As I chose to use SSD as the first disk, it boots up in 8 seconds and powers off in 2 seconds. There is a twist to this story. I chose to have Ubuntu-12.04 installed as the only OS, which came out just one month before I ordered the machine. It turned out to have an issue with the on-board video, which freezes when running a particular large Java program for several hours. Ubuntu forums started to show many people complaining about the video driver issue on various different systems. Knowing this is a device driver issue I just bought a fan-less video card from Fry's. This solved the problem but the temperature on the card was a little high. I called customer service and got very enlightening technical information about design decisions for the quiet server, concerning temperature, noise and air flow. After a few email exchanges going over several options, they decided to send a customer made cage with fan for cooling the video card (which I paid $35). This solves the problem completely. The machine remains as quiet as before and has been running happily ever after. One minor complaint: the machine is actually much larger and heavier than I expected from looking at the pictures, although afterwards I verified that the dimensions are exactly as list on the spec page. In any case as it is now under my home office desk the size really does not matter much. All in all, this is by far the best experience I had with any tech company. If you want your machine to have high quality components and being taken care of by professional people who are also very good listeners and are willing to spend time discussing technical issues with you, I highly recommend this company. Their price is quite high, though, maybe double the price of the commodity hardware of similar spec. However I still feel it is money well spent, compared with my experience of buying commodity desktop machines over the years.

Was looking to get a quiet desktop PC as I was going to use it in a home entertainment setup. I called and spoke to their customer service group who was able to answer any questions I have and was able to choose some custom features. I was able to track the build/testing of my PC via their website. I used the PC as my main desktop PC for a couple weeks before hooking it up to my Home AV system. I have never ran into any issues w/ this PC and after 9 months or so this PC still runs great. I would not hesitate to order another computer from them.

The most outstanding PC purchase experience I have ever had. Suggested improvements to my original spec were perfect. They establish a web site for each order and update so you can "watch" it being built and tested. The hardware has performed flawlessly since arrival. Puget will be supplier for all my future needs. I cannot say enough good things about them.

Folks responsive. Only drawback was the FedEX folks missing delivery. It would be nice in future purchases to have dimensions of the outer shipping box. When I arrived at the FedEx, the box did not fit in my car.

start: Needed a very fast graphics capable windows machine to do a project that had an unmovable deadline. I called them, explained what I needed, and they had it completed and delivered that week - it was amazing... It simply worked. just under a year later - the hard drive crashed - this was bad - and I was in another crunch mode - they replaced it - but were unable to get the data out, gave me the name of a company that was able to do amazing data recovery (one file was lost, and I didn't need that one). they were good, they were fast, and what they built still works. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a custom computer

they are responsive and carried through well. They gave me as much support a i needed. The cooling system leaked and damaged the mother board amd graphics cards. This occurred after 2.5 years which is not acceptable. Why did it fail? either defective parts or installed wrong... that is the bottom line. You have to ship the computer back to Wa of course.

y email and on the phone, they can log on to your computer (with your permission) and actually fix problems like they were in the room with you. you can watch your computer being built on their web site and the tech's that built it will usually be the ones giving technical support on the phone. i am using the one i bot 2 yrs ago and will contact them first next time i need a custom build. when they send you your computer they send a box of 'stuff' (extra hardware) that you can use to make modifications downstream for future upgrades. and, it is a lot of hardware! they are a first rate outfit ! the computer is made in Washington State (thus the name Puget) and the shipped to you in a box you could safely ship a baby in.

These are extremely hard to find and this is the only store that I could find that carries them. While the product is priced right, the company is on the west coast, I am on the east coast, and the only shipping the only shipping method they offered is UPS. Thus the shipping costs were as much the product. USPS would have shipped for half the cost, and delivered in half the time.

In 2010 I was looking for a high end computer workstation that could handle photography, video and audio editing, as well as 2D & 3D animation. My aging Velocity Micro computer took a power hit and was totally fried, I was going to go back to them and spec out another system when I stumbled upon Puget Systems. I did a little research and read some favorable reviews so I decided to let them build my new computer workstation. I was very pleased that I did, they were very helpful in the designing phase, they kept me in the loop as it was being built and when the computer arrived it was packed in a way that protected it from the rigors of shipping companies. Upon removing the computer from the packaging I noticed how solidly built it was; not some flimsy case as other companies use. To me Puget Systems is the best custom computer builder I have used to date and when I am in need of another computer they will be the one I will turn to.

Our company bought 2 desktop systems from them and we have a couple of small issues and they are extremely good at being prompt and fixing issues. We have never had big issues with our computers since we purchased them. I would recommend them to everyone who needs a specialized computer system.

Was simple to evaluate online. There are links to details on each and every component. Talked to a technician and we discussed exactly what I wanted. Every was easy to setup. The build process was great and I was well informed as to where everything was at each step, e.g. gathering parts, putting it together, burn in, etc. Shipping was fine. The package included all documentation and disks including restore disks. Love the computer - clean, quiet, powerful. Not cheap, but IMO starting at about $1400+ Dell and other mainstream vendors can't compete on quality, price or service. Can't come close. Will use them for my next system.

Part was shipped quickly and was exactly what I expected. I was very impressed with the way they kept me informed of the status of my order throughout and I was even contacted after the item arrived to make sure everything was okay. If I am ever in the market for a pre-built computer or need a part again I would definitely use them again.

Fantastic experience and an excellent product. Reviewed my requirements with a very knowledgeable sales rep. Price comparable to commercially-available brands.

3-12-2013 Update: I am thoroughly impressed with the quick and quality response I received to resolve a couple of techy issues. I am not techy. Puget contacted me immediately when I mentioned my woes on Angie's List. It took ME quite awhile to get back to them to resolve the issues. Once I was able to implement their suggestions and talk to Chris on the phone, I believe my issues are resolved. Chris was able to help remotely without making me feel like an idiot. Thanks Chris. Of course I don't totally understand all the techy talk, but I did gain a better understanding from him. I DO regret that I didn't call them immediately when I couldn't figure out how to maximize my disk space and screen refresh rate. My apologies to Puget. It was MY lack of knowledge and not their lack of attention to product, detail or customer that was the issue. And they helped me learn. Live and learn. I would definitely buy another computer from them based on Customer Service alone.

At the time, Vista was new, and when they were testing the system, they discovered a few drivers that didn't yet work. While the computer took longer to ship than initially expected, I was glad they held on to it and got the right drivers installed before shipping it to me. I was impressed that I received the results of each test they ran as well as the manuals and other information from each component in the computer.

I originally ordered a PC from Puget 3 years ago; it was totally silent in operation, had no quality issues or problems with it. I decided to replace it with a faster model this year and so ordered from Puget again. The online tools for configuring the PC are straightforward to use and compare price / performance. The same sales rep from my previous order 3 years prior assisted me with questions and advice, and did not try to upsell to more expensive upgrades. The PC was built and shipped on time after I placed the order. The PC is working great with zero problems so far. I would definitely order from Puget again.

The ordering process was very easy. There were a few emails exchanged for some clarification. I was informed of the build process (along with photos). The new PC arrived and was exactly as ordered and performed well. Upon opening the case, you could easily see the attention to detail used in putting it together. Overall, I was very pleased.

I purchased their immersion cooling kit for the my daughter's science experiment. The kit was EXCELLENT and the company answered all the questions before hand and made sure it arrived on time.
