Chris Arndt Masonry & Chimney Restoration

Excellent job

He told me that the other provider had used lousy materials on the outside. We went from an old, red brick and it looks really nice. I like it. I recommend him for further service to everybody. This guy knows his chimney stuff.

Very professionally. Chris removed the bad sections and replaced what was necessary. Protected the roof with carpet and then did a complete clean-up.

While it took us a bit to get started, I felt it was only because Chris wanted to make sure his work turned out top grade. The chimney we were fixing was built in the 60's with brick that is no longer manufactured. Chris went out of his way to find a brick that was comparable. It is not a perfect match,but he placed the new brick down to the roof line so the front appearance of the house is beautiful. He cleaned up old surfaces of the rest of the chimney to restore it to a much more becoming finish than it was previously. After all mason work was done, the clean up of my yard was impeccable. He may have even removed a few weeds!

I'm in the process of buying a home, and I called Chris regarding a chimney that will require repairs in order for my home loan to be approved. He was willing to go out and look at the problem the same day I called. He provided me both written and verbal feedback on how to approach the problem with both a short and long term solution. I've had many interactions with tradespeople in the past, but Chris is head in shoulders above them all. My experience was similar to other people who've reviewed him - he's very honest and exceptionally fair.

We took Chris's advice and replaced and repaired the old masonry. It worked so well that the new homeowners never made mention of the brickwork it blended in so well.

I do a lot of DIY stuff around the house but had never done much masonry work myself so his advice and encouragement was very helpful. He was right. I successfully made the restoration. So although I don't know how Chris does actual work himself, I was pleased by his reponsiveness, knowlege (that he was willing to pass along), and business ethics.

Called Chris, who came over, discussed the issues, came in with a team and in 4 hours removed and loaded some 6 ton of rock and took it to his place for storage. No mess, no fuss, no dust! After the jacking was done, I called him to discuss the next step. He returned the next day with samples of stone veneer. My wife and I could not find a veneer that satisfied, as we were really hooked on the pure white, sparkly marble that was there. We decided that the answer was to cut the old rock into veneer blocks and reapply. After discussion with Chris, and the potential labor costs in having the cutting done, it was decided that I would cut the rock myself. Chris, at no additional charge, loaded, returned and unloaded the the original rocks, and I undertook several months (off and on) of cutting veneer pieces. Chris further discussed the cost of the rebuild, and sugested, to save cost that I DIY it. He then spent a couple of hours with me, effectively teaching a master course in firebox design, block laying and veneer work, again at no cost to me. The result, after a couple of "help" calls, is (I think) a great new fireplace, and while it has taken me some 8 months of work, thanks to Chris's advise and encouragement, has cost me only my labor and occasional rental of a large stone saw! Chris is a consummate craftsman and a great guy. I have another project coming up, and will be calling him again... this time to do it for me!

Chris is a very down to earth guy, with deep experience in the trade. Spends the times to listen so he is actually quoting and performing the work you want. Work was done started on time and executed correctly. Really no negatives. And I would definitely hire his firm again.

Chris and his assistant came back to complete the job within a day or two. They did excellent work and cleaned up the site and put protective plastic over it so the concrete could cure. Everything was so professional and friendly from the speed of coming to the house to giving us an estimate.to completing the work. It was a pleasure to deal with such pleasant and competent a company

Made the sealant repairs myself.

Since my skills doing caulking is non existent, so I called Chris back and explained what I needed and he agreed to come by when he was in the neighborhood. He called today and came and completed the job in record time and said have a nice day and did not charge me anything. Talk about a nice service with a smile :-) Being short of stature and over 65 precludes this lady from climbing on the roof someone with skills was necessary. I certain will call Chris for future issues with the chimney and or needing replacement of my fireplace inserts. He is relatively local to my home and knowing the economy and the impact on small business my choice is usually local. I would hesitate to recommend Chris and his services to anyone.

I had a sizable chunk of the concrete slab cap over my chimney fall. I could see a crack and rusted rebar. I was afraid of more pieces falling, and if damage had been done to my shake roof. Chris returned my call the same day. We set a time, after his busy day, for him to come by and inspect. He was concerned and wanted to make sure I didn't have any roof damage before the coming rainy weekend. He assured me that NOTHING NEEDED TO BE DONE. Short of a BIG earthquake, he said no other pieces should fall. Replacing the cap would cost half or more of redoing the entire chimney. He recommended redoing the whole chimney, based on the problems inherent in the type of stone (basalt), but only when the roof was in need of replacement - in ten years or so. He also inspected the shakes around the chimney for damage, and found none. He was in a position to take advantage and recommend a costly job, but dealt with me honestly and professionally. You can bet on who I will call, either after the BIG ONE, or when I replace the roof.

The project was completed promptly. The chimney looks great and will function much better. This was an old cement block chimney that was crumbling on top due to exposure to the elements. Chris completed the work in one day.

We had a great experience with Chris Arndt's Masonry. His knowledge, professionalism and courtesy are second to none. We were having the roof replaced on or home and needed to get the chimney restored before the new roof was installed. As a Structural Engineer, I had concerns about the structural integrity of the chimney, particularly above the roof. Chris listened, made suggestions and together we came up with and implemented a plan that addressed all my concerns. Chris worked with us to insure all his activities were completed in a timely manor prior to the roofers arriving. After the roof was complete, he returned to insure all the flashings were correct and to complete the sealing. The work area for this project is over 30 feet above the ground and Chris and his crew had no problems with it. The work area was kept clean and the job was done in 3 days. The finished product looks fantastic. Chris did exactly what I wanted when we started the project. Thanks Chris!

Home had not been occuppied for over 5 years. With no offers to buy the home, we decieded to rent. the fire place appeared to be in poor shape. But cleaning the fire place in side and with Christ's inspection we now know that the fire place is safe to use. its actually in very good shape. Thank Christ

I contacted Chris Arndt a few months ago to obtain an estimate on replacing some of my hardiplank with stone veneer. He was very punctual and professional and spelled out my options in terms that I easily understood. I felt no pressure to make a decision and he was very patient with me as I contacted him several times with changes to my original plan. He had some great suggestions that I had never thought of but am so glad we included! The end product was absolutely beautiful -even better than I had hoped it would be! Chris was a pleasure to work with and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone who was looking for a skilled, professional mason with years of experience and lots of patience.

He was a nice guy. He quickly combed in on what we were looking for. He did a thorough evaluation of the chimney. We were trying to decide if the chimney should be repaired or whether it should come down. He made us know that it needed to come down. His evaluation seemed sound. His price seemed reasonable. He quoted $9000 to demolish the existing chimney and to rebuild one. We actually got the permission from the City not to re-build the chimney. So we did not need the work done after all.

I didn?t use them. I was keen on using them but they told me that they were too busy. The estimate was for $1875. They weren?t able to follow through and the other bids that I received were very high. I will probably use someone else in the future.

Chris and his crew rebuilt all my kennel walls. They did 13 walls first (one side of the kennel) because I still continued to board dogs while they works. They completed the remaining 13 walls a few weeks later. I am thrilled to death with the entire process and end result. He and his crew were very puctual, arriving when they said they would and staying until the end of the day. They kept their work space clean while they worked and also at the end of each day they secured their equipment and cleaned their work area. When the job was completed they cleaned the entire area and removed any remaining debris from the job. The price was the best quote we got. They were very professional and worked wonderfully as a team. They didn't even complain when the boarding dogs kept barking at them all day. Lastly, the walls themselves look excellent and make a big difference to my kennel. I would highly recommend this team to anyone needing masonry work.
