Chris Arndt Masonry & Chimney Restoration

Chris did a previous job on brick patio columns with good results. Recently, I have needed masonry repair on other existing columns that were damaged. Chris gave some options and suggested a simple solution that could solve the problem and had the materials he needed and would set up a time. I waited a couple weeks and then called several times to set up a time. I called several numbers including business phone, his cell phone from a previous call and also sent email. I left messages if he does not want the job to just please let me know. All ignored. Apparently just ghosting me now.

I have to say that after reading his rave reviews I will continue to do that! Keep up the great work Chris! Its really hard to find great, honest, hardworking masonry contractors anymore.

It was good, clean and neat service He got the job done on time in just 1 day and then came back a few weeks later to apply weather sealing as we had agreed upon. Great service overall.

Chris and team are thoughtful, wonderful communicaters, reasonably priced and do beautiful work. One of the best experiences have had with work done on our house. Already hired twice.

Replacement of chimney went very well and I am very pleased with the look. Previous chimney was leaking through mortar cracks and was faced with basalt rock. It would have been very expensive to tear down and replace and Chris suggested several brick colors, dropped them over for us to consider, and drew some pictures of replacement chimney to match mid century house and neighborhood. He also reused old cap material on new chimney and was able to use material to repair rear brick chimney cap.

I contacted Mr. Arndt to speak about an inspection for a chimney leak. He provided a ton of input, advice, and guidance on steps I could take to troubleshoot the problem. He offered a couple solutions so that I could avoid needing to hire a professional. I was astonished at how much of his professional input he provided during an unscheduled, FREE phone call. I was very, very impressed by his complete willingness to give the advice, his friendliness, and the sincerity he expressed during our discussion. Far beyond what I hoped for or expected. Proved to me that Mr. Arndt is a true professional that put customer service at the forefront of his business.

We were told we needed to have some bricks on our chimney replaced from a couple other masonry folks. I called Chris to get a quote for the work. When he arrived he explained why that would be a waste of money because the design of the chimney was the problem. Instead Chris suggested we do a few things to extend the life of our chimney for another 5-10 years (with detailed instructions so we could do the work) and replace the full chimney after that with a design that fits or Northwest climate. We will definitely be calling Chris for any work in the future!

Great. Chris did thorough inspection, told me I should have top 8feet replaced, but could hold off until next summer to do it. Also gave me several helpful pointers on how to protect the rest of the old cinderblock chimney.

We highly recommend this company. We had a hard time booking initially because of how busy they are (understandably!), but it was worth the wait. The price was well below what another company quoted us for the same work. Chris was professional and made the extra effort to meet our needs.

Our roofing contractor was concerned about leaks through the brick and mortar. I called Chris Arndt Masonry & Chimney Restoration and was pleasantly surprised. The owner Chris Arndt came to the house just 45 minutes after I made the inquiry. He advised me that the brick, mortar, and even the firebox are in very good shape and will last many more years and that all I need is to put a new concrete cap on the chimney then clean and put a water sealant on it. He told me I can actually do all of this work myself and save money on it. Don't get that kind of help very often.

The service was first class and the professionalism continued from the first visit. I am critical when it comes to workmanship. They exceeded my expectations. I strongly recommend Chris Arndt to anyone who needs chimney work. They are fast, provide fair pricing, and keep their promises. After completing the work the cleanup was first class. Job went great. Chris was always quick to answer any questions I had, and after weighing the considerations, decided that a rebuild was the way to go, over doing a repair. For a little more of an investment, over doing a repair job, I now have a beautiful chimney that should out last my lifetime. Chris ended up getting the project finished sooner than his original projected time frame, and was promptly at my place to start at 7:00 AM when we had decided on. They removed the old chimney, built a new one, flashed it, and cleaned up nicely in one days work, and it looks great .

Work started a few weeks after bid received. Price was comparable with the other Mason's I had bid. Chris was very personable and clearly explained why he would or would not need to do something. Workers did good work and made sure to keep everything as clean as possible.

All went very well. Chris came out for a bid within two days and started work the very next day - Perfect timing for both parties. The work took three days. He even left his scaffolding up for a few extra days so I could work on the chimney cap. Great Job!

Chris told me I did not need to have any work done till summer. Even then it was work that I could do myself. I was really impressed with his knowledge of masonry. If I have any other problems I will definitely call him.

Chris inspected the chimney and made recommendations as to how to correct the problem. He advised starting with some maintenance steps that could be done by us as the owners, thus keeping costs down. Chris was very personable and very informative, sharing information from his years of experience in masonry. I would strongly recommend him as an honest business owner with experience in his field, one with whom I would definitely do business in the future.

I phoned Chris and he was incredibly knowledgeable and willing to share exactly what I should do despite the fact it meant he would not need to visit my home or perform any work. Last year we had our roof replaced. At the time of the roof inspection the roofers recommended having the chimney tuck pointed and a new crown put on. They showed me were the brick and mortar were deteriorating and the crown was breaking off. I then scheduled 3 bids from Angie’s, all of the contractors were very nice and all noticed that the liners were cracked from the crown down to the fire box and said the chimney was unsafe. Bids ranged from a high of $4,450, mid $1,300/$1,400 to a low of $870. The high bid included installing a 6” X 20’ flue liner with a chimney cap, tuck pointing and resetting loose bricks. The low was just to tuck point loose mortar, on about 15 to 20% of the chimney and then put a new crown and seal the chimney. I chose the mid price because of the following. Several years ago, I needed work on a rental property and had Chris come out to put a bid on tuck pointing the chimney (the real estate agent said I needed to do that before I sold the house). He said he would be happy to do the work, but upon inspection he noted that the mortar was more dirty than deteriorating , and suggested that a good scrubbing was all it needed for the brick and mortar. I realize that companies are in business to make a living, but I really appreciate it when they try and look out for their customers, so that is what I did in that case. When Chris came out to put a bid in on the tuck pointing and crown, he said he could tuck point it, but he would recommend just rebuilding the entire chimney, and he would try and pull out as many flue tiles as they could reach, and then seal those that they couldn’t get out and the price would be somewhere around $1,300 to $1,400 figuring replacement of 3 or 4 flue tiles and more should they be able to replace more tiles. As it turned out they were able to replace all of the tiles, and the price came out to $1,480 plus tax. The bottom line is that I am very happy with the quality and costs of work that Chris and his crew did for the following reasons. Their prices are more than competitive specially with the quality of work that they do, and I feel I have an advocate who is looking out for me, not just selling me something but recommending the best course of action that benefits me, the customer. Should I need any masonry work done in the future, I won’t even go through the bid process, rather I will just ask Chris to make a recommendation and have them do it.

First, Chris himself. So easy to deal with, excellent communications, so prompt, so hardworking, so NICE. He was able to work with ease with a persnickity neighbor where the scaffold had to be placed on his prized lawn. Chris personally made sure our neighbor, and we, had an immaculate job site. So many little things Chris did that were above and beyond - we didn't have the specialized siding we needed to cover the 7ft x 25ft spot where the chimney was , so he added tight tar paper to keep it dry meanwhile. He also came back the next day for two hours and added some temporary framing boards inside the outer wall to support the interior fireplace. Above and beyond. (We can't place the siding yet - it's a foundation repair first.). Chris is a pro, but more than that, his hires are also super hardworking and nice. His lead man for our job, Randy, deserves a special shout-out, impressed with him. While it seems pricey, this price was competitive, and it's a heavy job to carry out all that brick, so we give Chris an A for price, too. More than that, there is a personal, attentive feel to this hire that really made us feel glad that we went with Chris Arndt's Masonry. Highly recommend him and his team.

Awesome job. Everyone was very professional and very responsive. Chris provided ideas for our front porch and was very respectful and responsive to our ideas as well. Chris made sure we knew everyone who was working on the job. The porch looks awesome. We had had new concrete work done previously and they made every effort to protect the concrete. Our neighbors were very impressed with the work as well.

They came on time, completed the job efficiently, and did an excellent job of cleaning up before they left. I highly recommend this company!

My wife and I wanted to add some spark to our cabin and thought about adding some stonework to the front of our garage to give it an updated look. We found Chris on Angie';s list and asked that he meet us at our residence which was over an hour away from his home. He also agreed to meet us on a Saturday morning so we could walk thru and discuss our desires. Chris knows his business and in talking with us about what we wanted to do, he was able to provide to us some ideas that we had not thought about having done. We engaged Chris to do the work and it turned out much better than we ever imagined, he did everything as we discussed and his craftsmanship shows that he has been doing this type of work for a number of years. His work is excellent and we are already thinking about having Chris do some work for us again.
