Description of Work: He cleaned the chimney, cleaned out the stove, and checked the roof around it. He said the area on the roof was rusting and sent an estimate to reseal the roof and replace the connecting pipe for around $1300 dollars. We have not had a chance to do further checking on that.

Description of Work: In response to your promotion for chimney service, we signed up for the one said to do work in our area, Powers Chimney & Masonry LLC. A day or so later they notified us that they do not work our area, but would still be willing to provide the service with additional charges in the amount of $100 for travel time and ferry fees. Your $99 deal would, had we pursued it, cost us $199. We'll secure the same chimney services here on Whidbey Island at about a 35% lesser cost. Although Kelly Smith's immediate, good faith response and effort to find an alternative service was greatly appreciated, we are opting to take our refund. Thank you.

Description of Work: I purchased a $99 Big Deal for a Chimney Sweep and Inspection. It went fine.

Description of Work: They investigated a leak in our chimney area, cleaned the chimney and wood stove, and ordered then returned to install a replacement a chimney cover for our chimney top, which had rusted out (thus the leak). This took place over a 2+ week span, and all work was done very well with extremely courteous and helpful technicians. During the last rain, no more leak - the new stainless chimney cover they installed fixed the problem. | |The only thing I had difficulty with is an optional part called the "enhancer" which is supposed to somehow be cosmetically better when looking at your home from a distance. I couldn't figure out why anyone would need such a thing on the top of their roof - who cares about cosmetics on the top of a chimney? I couldn't really get a clear picture from any of their techs about why this thing is needed, and they couldn't really explain much of it's value. They did say it helped with high wind conditions to help avert downdrafts into the chimney, but it seems like a really pricey thing for the minimal value it would bring. And, there are other chimney doo dads (hat-like covers) that provide the same benefit for less cost. We didn't elect to get the enhancer - and I hope we made a good choice. The only reason I mention this is that I didn't feel this component was explained well, it's benefits vs. the cons of not having it, etc. That's the only thing I can say that could have been better - understanding it better would have made me feel more assured about our decision. We can always add it if we need it though, and they have offered that as an option to us.
