Description of Work: I'm really struggling with this review. While they did exactly what I ordered, clean my chimneys, they followed up with a $5500 estimate to essentially rebuild our entire chimney. It felt excessive and it felt a little bit like they just offered a great chimney cleaning price to get in there and find whatever they could wrong. Sure, our 100 year old chimney needed a little work, but not what was suggested (based on a second opinion). I want to be clear that everyone was really great to work with from the technicians to support on the phone, that's not the issue. They issue was the shocking bid. Maybe throw it at me in installments? And maybe I was just in a denial and I went in thinking a chimney cleaning was going to do it. But we ended up coming away with a new thing to stress about on the house.

Description of Work: Hemcleaned our chimney and so far as I can tell did an adequate job. However, he said we needed a new cap in our chimney--that ours was rusting out and it would cost around $900. He said he had taken a picture. We put the charge on our credit card but decided to talk to the home inspector that we had used to inspect the chimney 2 or 3 months earlier. We called him and he said he would like to see the picture. We called Powers and they said there was something wrong with their camera and they could not supply us with the picture. Therefore, we canceled the order for the cap and they refunded out money.

I do believe it was approximately $400.00. They did a great job and were clean and professional. Thanks Angie's List for putting me onto Powers Chimney and Masonry.

I was surprised when they came and charged additional tax after we had bought the service through Angie's list. Normally once we pay through Angie's list there are not additional charges. My husband was here and pay the additional. They forgot to relight the pilot, but came back to light it.

Description of Work: I purchased a deal for $99 for a chimney sweep and inspection. The deal turned out fine. They found something in the inspection and gave us an estimate for it. They contacted us several times to see if we were going to follow up. We got other estimates from other companies and they were all at least half of the estimate from Powers Chimney & Masonry. The initial inspection went fine, but we chose to use a different company for the work.
