I scheduled appointment via email, the company did show up and claimed emergency situation preventing them from coming over. I rescheduled one more time, few days before the service day they called me and notified that they can't perform the service at all.

They did a good job. We needed them to make sure that the flue was working correctly and they replaced a part at no additional charge.

They cleaned out our chimney and gave us a rundown of what we might want to have repaired. They told us it was safe to use, which was great. They did a full quote for the things we might need to have repaired. The pricing in the quote was definitely on the high side. They were always courteous, professional, and quick to reply to any emails or phone calls.

They diagnosed the problem and explained it(the problem) and showed a diagram of what needed to be done. The parts were ordered, and had to be manufactured, so there was a delay in getting the chimney fixed. Some parts were finished early, so they came out and installed them to prevent further leaks, then completed the installation when the final piece was received. The young men were very courteous, and prompt.
Description of Work: They replaced all metal parts at the top of the chimney which had rusted over the years and caused leaks into the fireplace during wind/rain storms.

When the estimate for the chimney replacement was sent by email the cap replacement bid was not attached so I requested it. I made the request two or three times, my husband also contacted them a couple of times. Finally they just said the chimney was unsafe and they would not do the cap work they would only replace the entire chimney. I told them that was not what the person said when they came out. I got no explanation of why all of the sudden the chimney was not safe. I am baffled by this. If they changed their mind for some reason I think it is reasonable to provide an explanation. This wasted a lot of my time and has delayed other work since I needed this work done first.
Description of Work: Came out and looked everything over and gave verbal estimates and later an estimate via email for replacement of the entire chimney only. We discussed what the cost would be to put a cap on the chimney. At my request he also looked over the entire chimney, from the wood burning stove to the very top, to see if there were any issues. He said it looked good there was no gaps and looked like it hadn't been used much. He said it did not need to be cleaned and was safe to use as is, did not need to be replace. I was glad to here it and told him we would probably do the cap at $300. but to please give a bid for replacement because even though it didn't need it that was the information my husband wanted. He said that my husband could call and ask any questions he may have. The person that came out was punctual, friendly, helpful and informative. The rest of the experience was not.

We went out and provided a completely FREE Estimate to this customer. They called us out to see if their current wood stove system is unsafe. Our technician provided her with an estimate for what it would take to get it working safely. She asked about an estimate for just putting a cap on her chimney which has a large hole at the top. The owner did not want to continue with an estimate for just a cap because it would still be unsafe to just add a cap at the top. The technician made it clear to the customer that even if we capped it off, it would still be unsafe to burn. We do not want to put our companies name or reputation on something that is unsafe. If we would've sold her a cap we would've just been taking her money, and not solving the problem. She called us out there to come out for FREE to give her our professional opinion, and we did. If she didn't like our conclusion, she should've gotten 2-3 other competitors opinions. If she had done that she would've seen that the system is unsafe. We strive to be a company of honesty and integrity. We don't want to do work that could potentially be harmful to a customer.

Very impressed! They were polite, professional, very neat and clean, and did a great job. Great team! We hadn't had the chimney swept in years and were very close to a chimney fire if we hadn't had it done. We will definitely have them back every year. They left zero mess, no ash floating around the house at all. They left a very detailed report on issues with the chimney along with a detailed bid to re-build because of prior earthquake damage that has never been addressed. There was no hard sell for that. Once we can afford it, we will absolutely use them for this work.

They normally clean the vents through a chimney and I do not have a chimney. They stated that the verbiage in the deal could lead one to believe they could service my particular design. They advised I seek a refund from Angie's List.

They offered to perform both chimney's at the angies list coupon price. When I requested an appointment, they called later the same day to schedule and were able to perform services within the next week. The men that came were very polite and respectful of our property. Everything was done very well and in a timely manner. They left my house spotless when they left. The inspection was very thorough and they provided and written description and estimate for repairs.

Everything went very well. the workers were polite and took care to contain any dust and or ash from the rest of the house. We had them quote repoint, cap and flashing. We will be calling them back to do the repair/maintenance work.

The Chimney Sweep and Inspection went fine. They arrived on time, & cleaned up everything quickly. However, based on the inspection, they gave me an estimate for repairs for over $3000, without being able to give me much of an explanation of which repairs should be done now versus which could be done later. The two men providing the service did not answer my questions clearly, and based on our conversation, I did not really trust their assessment. I will not use them again.

At Powers Chimney & Masonry we have a strong reputation for being an honest and reputable company. We provide honest bids from our experience and expertise. We have always ensure to explain the estimate every time in order for the customer to be able to understand the estimate. We have been in contact with this customer following up, we have asked if they have any questions, sent pictures of the problem, explained the problem, the fix for the problem, and why it needed to be done. The person who wrote this review wasn't the customer that hired us. We understand that not everyone agrees with our assessment or doesn't want to hear bad news of repairs that are needed. But it is our job to make people aware of the issues. If it upsets the customer or they decide not to do the work that is outside of our control. We have since attempted to follow up with customers about the review but have received no response to our efforts to discuss the issue. We want our customers to understand the estimates, that is why we send them pictures along with an explanation of the problem so that there is no confusion. And we also follow up and ask if they have any questions to ensure that they have all of their questions answered.

They were very nice people and they did a very nice job. They sat me down and tried to sell me $3,000 worth of chimney repairs. It was a fine experience. Nothing great. It took them until the end of December to show up, because they were really busy. They did a beautiful job. It was a very good price and there is nothing wrong with what they did. I had a second chimney and they said they did not need to do it. I would not use them again.

After getting jerked around by other chimney cleaners with no shows and cancellations these guys were great!! They showed up on time and were very professional. I had this service performed after purchasing the house that was built in the '60's, so didn't really know what they would find. I'm so glad I had the service done, it really gave me peace of mind for burning this winter. They did find some minor repairs that needed to be done as well as a couple of more expensive things, but said if I wasn't burning in the chimney that often, the work could probably wait as long as I got it cleaned and inspected annually. I really appreciated their honesty and they left the house very clean even after having to pull out the chimney insert. Thanks!!
