We called Advanced Appliance on 11/6/13 to schedule an appointment for him to come out and fix our appliances. After 2 cancelled appointments, Shawn arrived on 11/20/13 with parts he deemed would fix our appliances per the initial phone conversation we had with him and describing the issue's with the appliances. We hired Shawn to fix our Whirlpool Gold Oven broiler and the water dispenser on our Samsung Refrigerator. After being here for 1 hour and 15 minutes he charged us for 1 and half hours. While Shawn was here both my husband and my son helped him out. When Shawn left the broiler was working and the refrigerator he said needed another part, a new ice maker, which we decided to order ourselves and have someone else install. He did install a new water line through the fridge. This is one of the times my husband helped by going downstairs and running the line for Shawn. 2 days after Shawn left the broiler stopped working again. Not only that but on occasion now the oven won't heat up at all since he came. My husband contacted Shawn immediately. After several phone conversations Shawn told my husband to (quote) "purchase a Sear's extended warranty" because that would be cheaper than me to come out again, we didn't even buy these appliances from Sear's! I myself left a voice mail for Shawn on 12/18/13. I also emailed Shawn, with both of these messages he had the opportunity to either call me back and leave a voice mail which I have set up or email back on a computer or his phone, he chose to do neither. We had to keep trying to resolve this issue by us being the ones relentlessly calling him. His charges were as follows: stove part: gas valve: $172.00, burner: $8.00, ineligible part: $75.00, Tax:$10.32, S&H:$10.00, Labor:$90.00, Trip charge:$90.00 and he lives 20 minutes from us, ineligible charge at the bottom of invoice:$45.00. I would also like to point out that at NO time whatsoever did Shawn do us any 'FREE" favors with his time, advice or anything for that matter. The reason I haven't done a review before now on Shawn is because I was hoping he would try to make this right morally, obviously he is not going to. We now need to contact someone else because our appliances are still not working.

Shaun called. I explained my problem. Range would not work. Previous electrician identified the problem with motherboard. Said I could order one and he could come back and in stall. Ordered but was not the one. After a lot of communication with several, I found Shaun. After a discussion over the phone and Shaun looking up model #'s and etc. The mb was not available;range too old. I said "if I was your mother, what would you reccomen others. d?" He he would say to buy a new range. He said he would come anyway and look at it, but did not want to charge unnecessarily .. That had to be the best experience I have ever had with a problem. I am very impressed and have already shared withMany thanks Shaun.!

To resolve the main issue would entail returning the machine to the factory. I will call them again for any appliance service.

Shawn was very professional and had my dryer up and working in no time. I had told him that two days prior I had gone to Sears and purchased a new set (washer & dryer) but changed my mind when my sister who has worked at Sears for 40 years mentioned a repair person. I had heard of "Angie's List" and was happy to see that professionals are graded and saw that "Advanced Appliance" was graded A. They were right and I would highly recommend them!

The repairman did his job on time and in a timely and professional manner. He could not fix the refrigerator though--a disappointment to us because we had considered just getting a new one but decided for a variety of reasons that it made more sense to try to fix the old one, which was a non-standard size and had to fit a specific dimension within a slot in the wall. Instead, we paid $125 to be told that we needed to buy a new refrigerator. Obviously, this kind of thing can't always be avoided--some machines can't be fixed without going to great expense--but I will say that $125 was more than I really wanted to pay for an "assessment" of a dying refrigerator.

Professional from start to finish! I felt confident from the message they left on the machine to when they returned my phone call to appointment being setup and executed. Shawn was polite; punctual & professional. He was there to fix my dishwasher - which he did..... but offered advice on water quality as well as addressing some small concerns with proper use of our washing machine and how to make the most efficient use of it. I will certainly give them another call should we find ourselves with any other appliance issues. I will also recommend them to anyone who might need their services.

I called Shawn mid-morning on a Wednesday and we set up an appointment for the following Monday. He said he would be a couple towns from me that day and there was a chance he'd be able to stop by. Over the course of the phone call Shawn was very patient, and carefully listened to the issue I had and the diagnostics I'd performed. MUCH to my surprise, I received a call about 4 hours later saying the work was complete and the washer was fixed! Also, in my attempt to figure out what was wrong, I had taken the bottom and top panels off the washer...Shawn put everything back together, even neatly stacking my tools on top of the washer. I absolutely recommend Advanced Appliance and Shawn's extremely high level of professional service!

3 weeks ago my refrigerator stopped cooling the freezer and the fridge side was not cooling well. I found Advanced Appliance via this site. I left a message on his answering machine and Shawn called within 2 hours. On the phone Shawn was able to diagnose the problem and ordered the part. We set up an appointment for the next day but had a family emergency and had to leave town. We made and appointment for the following week and sure enough my wife was injured running and had to go to the hospital. Which brings us to today. Shawn called and said he was on the way and I had to pop out and pick up the carpool. I had painters working on the house and told Shawn to go on in. Shawn did the work and was out of the house before I returned. He called my cell and let me know what he did. Shawn and his wife are great. I'll be calling them again!

The whole event went very well. We were glad not to have to buy a new machine, and still get the feeling that we were buying a good machine. Shawn is a bright, professional guy who is a pleasure to do business with. I am relieved to know I have an appliance repair person I can trust in the future.

The dryer had been making brown marks on clothes. He was able to make accurate diagnosis over the phone and completed the work with a thorough explanation of what he did.

Shawn was extremely professional and very friendly from the moment he first answered the phone. While he was here, he also gave us some advice regarding our dishwasher, which I've been on the verge of ditching. He told us that it was actually a good dishwasher and he gave us some tips on how to make it run better, as well as helping me clean out some rather disgusting deposits in the filter and fixing the spray blades, ALL ON HIS OWN TIME. His advice on the washer and dryer were spot on. He really knows his machines. Was conscientious about leaving the house just the way he found it. Terrific service.

Shawn was very responsive in scheduling a timely appointment. He came to our home and quickly determined the problem. He then ordered the part and came the day the part arrived to install it. In fact, he came by that evening to install the part since we were leaving the next day. He was personable and professional throughout. His labor costs were very reasonable. He charged a single fee for labor rather than a charge for each visit. We will definitely use him again for future repairs.

There is a reason that Advance Appliance Repair and Service is so highly rated on Angie's List - the owner/repair technician Shawn is a straightforward, honest and fair guy with extensive knowledge about refrigerators ( and other appliances) who accurately described repair quotes and came in under budget. Since we purchased our house this summer, my wife and I have been renovating (and therefore dealing with a lot of contractors and repair personnel) - this guy has been far and away the easiest person we have dealt with so far. In advance of the repair call he asked a lot of questions to make sure that he had all the relevant parts on hand in order to avoidfurther delay or inconvenience/costs to us. He showed up on time and clearly articulated the potential issues and solutions with my refrigerator. In a short time, he had things up and running and it looks like the fairly complicated problem is solved. He also followed up with me the next morning to make sure everything was running smoothly. Another example of why I gave Shawn a perfect score - while repairing the fridge, he looked over at the new dishwasher we had installed and said he thought there might be a recent recall notice for that model and advised that he would look into it for us and let us know if we should contact the manufacturer. That was clearly not something that he was obligated to do, but it seems to be the way this guy works. I would highly recommend Shawn for work on refrigerators and other appliances - he is easy to work with, punctual, great communication, thoughtful, clearly loves what he does, and willing to go above and beyond. We will continue to use Shawn for our projects and we are glad to have this forum to describe our experience.

After he gave the estimate and explained why it would cost that much, we continued talking and I learned that I should not try to clean the gasket with bleach (as the manufacturer suggested) because that would compromise the rubber. As we talked further and he learned the make and model of the machine, he advised me against putting any money into it because it was a poor product already well beyond its normal life expectancy. I consider this communication a real service in helping me learn how to take care of a new-to-me machine. When I asked about buying a new machine, Shawn explained that he does not sell new equipment in order not to have a conflict of interest with his repair work. I appreciate that kind of thoughtfulness, integrity, and honesty. He did offer to put me in touch with good local salespeople as well as other reputable tradesmen. I feel like Angie's List has led me to a great resource, and I will definitely contact him again when I need further assistance.

Shawn is extremely efficient and knowledgeable. Following introductions to myself & my husband [as well as our two dogs], he got right to work doing his analysis, all the while managing to speak with us @ the same time! He found a problem with the washer right away (a spray "straw" from a can of WD 40 was lodged in the drain pump) , and he continued with his analysis. He didn't feel the need to 'push' replacement of the pump; but rather, made some very helpful suggestions as to how much (or more appropriately said, "how little") detergent to use w/ each load, as well as NOT using fabric softener [which itself contains detergents], for one month. He suggested using white vinegar, instead, which is a natural softener. Amazingly, the vinegar does not leave any odor on the clothing. By golly, he was right! The washer is working as it did when it was new, the clothes are soft (even those that I hang on the clothesline), and our towels are softer and more absorbent! Shawn is truly a delightful person - very pleasant, easy to converse with, a great sense of humor, witty, and very polite. Our 10 y..o. Westie, who is extremely protective of me, felt so comfortable with Shawn that he decided to curl up on the floor right beside him, as he was busy working!! Now that's really saying something about "vibes"! Five years ago, we remodeled our kitchen, and believe me, when those appliances need repair, Shawn will be the ONLY one we call. I am thrilled to have Angie's List available, and most thankful that we were able to find Shawn.... ^_^

Shawn called 20 minutes before he showed up so that I had ample time to drive home from work rather than wait for him at home. He got right to business and fixed what was a simple problem and charged half his normal trip rate. Thanks Shawn.

The oven?s ignitor had gone out the day before Christmas Eve. We were in a panic trying to get everything done for our own holiday and for our home based catering company. Shawn was able to get to our house and fix the problem I had described on the phone (he knew exactly what the issue was!). He was in and out within a half an hour. Not only fast and skilled, Shawn is the most good natured guy out there, who clearly loves his job. We will definitely call him back for any future service calls. It?s a rare treat to find someone as professional, courteous and friendly as Shawn. Hooray for small business!

I called Shawn and left a Voice mail message(it was before he was open) and followed up with an email providing the washer model number and serial number off the label plate, since i knew he would need to buy a part for the repair. He called me later in the morning to confirm the repair needs and to schedule the home visit. He needed a few days to order the part so we scheduled his visit for the following week and he gave me a time window between 12pm and 4pm. He was very nice and very easy to talk to. On the appointed day, He called at about 1:30pm to indicate he was at the job before me and would arrive in 30-45 mins. which was great. He was arrived right when he predicted and got straight to work. He was friendly, prepared and was quite willing to answer all my questions about the repair and how to prevent it from re-occuring . Dont overload it and put garments with wires in net wash bags) He was done in 30 mins or less plus another 15-20 mins performing a clean and inspect of the dryer (at my request) which had been used daily for 3 years without any preventive service done. No problems found other than the expected accumulation of lint which he cleaned out.

Shawn is a true professional: fast, courteous, knowledgable and extremely easy to talk to. He was able to diagnose the problem within a few minutes and explained it to me in terms I could understand. In no time at all my stove was fixed. I wouldn't hesitate to call Shawn again if I ever have any future problems with my appliances.

Shawn fit us into his schedule the day we called, arrived when he said he would, quickly diagnosed the source of the problem, explained what the problem was, how he was going to remedy the situation and gave us tips on how to keep it from happening again. He was pleasant, professional and thorough.

Shawn made sure he got to us within a few hours. He worked fast and efficiently. He diagnosed the problem easily. The fix required emptying the freezer and taking the panel in the back of the freezer off. He didn't mind moving all the food and shelves. He welcomed my questions and had a very pleasant personality.
