Description of Work: Fred provided an estimate on fixing plumbing issues with my kitchen sink and bath tub/shower.

Description of Work: Other providers couldn't come until Sunday, this provider was able to come within the day and was prompt, reasonable and helpful.

Description of Work: Fixed leaky sink- Fred came out within 18hrs of talking to him initially. Was professional, fast and listened to our needs and made suggestions for long term use of the sink.

Description of Work: Problem was a toilet that was "off its seal" and also not flushing properly. Fred came within 15 minutes of the call, tightened down the toilet and said he would be back to check it in a week to see if it needed a new seal. If it does, he will replace at no cost except material. He also adjusted the toilet mechanism so that it works more smoothly and gave recommendations for a better-functioning brand. Very punctual, friendly. He is now my go-to plumber.

Description of Work: Fred fixed my leak to the garbage disposal and also a leak to my downstairs shower. Fred was at my house for about 1 1/2 hours and explained everything about what he was doing for my educational purposes.

Description of Work: My mother-in-laws finished off basement was flooded and I tried diligently to find a plumber, not realizing I would need a carpenter first. I called Fred Blakely who gave me the names of carpenters and one in particular in the Barre area. He came up and assessed the situation and found we didn't need a plumber after all. Mr. Blakely followed up with me and I explained the situation. Then, we have a rental property and the tenant called saying there was a leak in the basement water intake pipe. I proceeded to call Mr. Blakely who called the tenant. Instead of making a house call, Mr. Blakely was able to tell the tenant what he needed, again a simple fix, and it cost very little to fix himself. I consider Mr. Blakely a very courteous man, quick to respond to any situation, knowledgeable and experienced in his profession and a very reliable person. I would highly recommend him for sure.

Description of Work: What if you called a plumber and he answered your called within hours?( we'd called two before him before finding Angie's List; waited for 2 weeks to hear back from the first, the second called a week after Fred had come and completed the job) What if he arranged to come make an assessment the very same day (as he was traveling between jobs)? What if he showed when he said he would and comes prepared w/ dog biscuits to greet your dog with? What if he suggested you have a carpenter come a create an access panel for a third the price it would've cost you if he had to cut through the bathroom tile? All of this and more Fred Blakely did....cheerfully. As he came to replace our shower/tub mixer valve gone caput, as well as the shower head & tub faucet. He noticed the tub drain was sluggish and proceeded to clear it, he used a snake and when he left the drain was working well. What wasn't realized until after left, late in the day, that his snake had punctured a hole in the very old and corroded drain and water started leaking through the floors. What if you called your plumber an told him the work he's just finished had created another problem and the first words out of his mouth were " I am so sorry! I be over first thing in the morning!" Fred did and he was and he spent a long time repairing and replacing this drain, gave clear instructions to keep the fan he's set up to dry out the area between floors to prevent any mold issues......and refused to charge for his time!! He also became curious about a sink drain that we had given up on (we'd spent money on 3 different plumbers over the years and none had been able to make a lasting change. And the best scenario was to open up the wall and replumb.....1930's stucco walls, old galvanized pipes, etc. - a big expenditure we weren't able to prioritize.) To be fair, at first Fred thought this might be necessary too, and then he took a look and discovered another way that ended up costing us another $65.00.!! What if you had a plumber that inspired you to pay him more than he asked!?! I pronounce him a plumber Angel! And I highly recommend him to anyone! Gives every indication of being honest, ethical, and skillful.

Description of Work: Fred removed and installed new sinks,shower/tub, and toilet for our bathroom makeover. He was great - very reliable, friendly, competent and reasonably priced. We wouldn't use anyone else. Has worked for us in past,and we have always been satisfied.

Description of Work: We had a hot water heater break on us two weeks to the day after buying a house and moving into a new area. I thought it was just the release valve, but he came and checked it out, to find that we needed a new tank. He found the tank and installed it.
