If you're looking for a plumber, I can't recommend Fred Blakely highly enough. I called Fred after seeing his reviews on Angie's List and he responded to my message the same day. He's since been working with me on a bathroom remodel and I honestly can't imagine ever using another plumber. He returns calls promptly and shows up when he says he will (I think you could set a clock by the guy). He knows his trade inside and out. A very easy recommendation to anyone needing a plumber.

Fred, is quite simply, the best plumber I have ever worked with. He provides the best level of overall service that I have ever received. I have had the good fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Fred on several plumbing projects over the past several years -- bathroom remodels, kitchen work, toilet replacements, and much much much more. In each and every situation, he essentially saved my life -- he resolved the problem quickly and effectively and with the upmost professionalism. As someone who owns several properties, Fred has been a life saver. Fred not only knows his stuff, he is very willing to teach you anything you would like to know about plumbing. He has worked with all types of materials, over the years, and is extremely efficient at working with older materials, like copper, or newer materials, like PVC. He replaces or re-builds things, in a stronger way than they were before. Unlike many professionals, he is very willing to figure out how to build something so that it lasts. While there is an inherent life cycle of most pluming equipment, Fred takes the time to find a way to get the most strength and durability out of the plumbing equipment that he rebuilds or replaces. Specific examples of this include -- replacing hot water pipes, replacing shower pipes, re-locating kitchen sinks,and whole bathroom remodels. In one of my older houses in Montpelier, I needed to move a claw foot tub and Fred was instrumental in accomplishing that task. In another one of my buildings, I needed to rebuild a kitchen -- Fred was instrumental with that project. I highly recommend Fred. He is quite simply of one of the "un-sung heroes" of the greater Montpelier area and greater Washington county area. He keeps many, many primary and secondary homes, in Montpelier, East Montpelier, Calais, and the greater area running. He will respond to emergencies. He is 200% reliable as a plumber. He has complete integrity and he is completely reliable.

It went amazingly well. The house had been empty for a period of time and I wasn't sure what needed to be done. I contacted Fred through Angie's List, he answered the phone, was upbeat and we set up a time to meet. Fred beat me there. He was not in a rush and we walked through the house and made a list of what needed to be done. Fred "assigned" some tasks to me, mostly ordering some equipment to save me money. Through out the whole job Fred kept in touch, let me know if there was a problem and usually had the solution. He was also very generous with offering contacts of other vendors to help me out as I live about an hour away. Every recommendation he made was top notch. His prices are fair and really most importantly, he knows what he is doing. I feel so lucky I called Fred. Fred, thank you so much. Cathy

He showed up with beer on his breath, to me that's not good for a customer. he said he would put the part in but I felt that he was not sutable at the time.

First Fred is not retired... not sure what the previous review was up to but it seems like some shenanigans going on. He has performed work for several of my neighbors recently and worked on my plumbing yesterday. The experience was great. Called Fred up and he was there within 30 minutes. He told me what was wrong and what needed to be done. I was at work at the time when I called and he was came in and fixed the problem before I got home. He left a paper towel down to make sure he had gotten all the leaks. He came back to check and found anther tiny leak in a different part of the system. I was very happy about that. Looks like my kitchen sink drainage wasn't installed correctly in the first place and now I know not to use that other contractor again. Very happy with my experience with Fred and will call him again when I need plumbing work done.

Fred is very responsive and will call you back. He knows his stuff and is super friendly. Work was done in a timely manner and looks great. Will hire him again when I have plumbing needs.

It worked. The problem is gone, and it didn't cost me a thing. I respect his professionalism and honesty, giving me free advice without trying to make a buck on me. When I DO have a problem that needs hands-on help from a plumber, he'll be the first number I call.

I have called many plumbers in the past, left messages and received no response, so I was very delighted when Fred picked up on the first ring and was at my house within an hour. He was very efficient, personable, and professional. He got the job done very quickly at a very reasonable rate. So happy that from now on I no longer need to sift through the yellow pages should I have a plumbing problem. He will most definitely be the first person I call. Highly recommend.

Fred referred me to Rich of Onion River Wells, Rich came out to my house the next day and solved my problem for under $200. I can't be happier with both of them and will use them again.

Fred was very helpful in that he listened to the problems we were having and then recommended specialists for us to call. He was clearly knowledgeable but also knew that we would be better served by specialists in certain areas outside his normal range of expertise, so I appreciated his candor and efforts to find us help. His recommendations proved very satisfactory.

The plumber I have used in the past did not return my call, so I found Fred through this site. He was courteous, neat, on-time, and showed me how to perform this repair on my own for the future. The repair was done quickly and I feel his price was reasonable. Fred will be handling all of my plumbing work from now on. I will also be recommending him to friends and family.
