Root Electric

They were to arrive at 10am and my door bell rang at 'exactly' 10am! Most impressive! One of the two service reps was there to start and to explain that the other would be delayed. He immediately set out to work and within the half hour the other was onsite. In less than 2 hours they had wired and installed two ceiling fans, wired two outlets in the sunroom, restored electricity to my dining room and checked to ensure there were no shorts in one of the outside outlets! Excellent work in the sweltering heat of the attic and sunroom! Professional and courteous and 'very clean' - discarded all refuse and totally cleaned up any dust from the ceiling cuts.

Excellent. Mr. Root returned my call promptly, met me in the evening to give me a quote, came 2 days later to do the work and made great recommendations for future projects that I plan to do. He also solved an issue we had with the master bathroom light switch.

Awesome. I thought everyone I dealt with was friendly and so knowledgeable. I first met with Bill (son) who was gave me an estimate. He was so helpful. He answered all of my questions and gave me some great info on the type of fan to purchase etc. When it was time for the work to be done, Bill (father) came out with a helper. They worked hard and fast. It was a very very hot day and never once complained. They left no mess and explained everything they did. My only complaint was MY fault. I thought the permit price was a little high. I didn't ask for an estimate on that. The county charges $65 and I was charged $165. I understand that includes transportation and time charges. I was just a little surprised. I thought these guys were great. I would use again in a heartbeat.

It was absolutely great. They were courteous, on time, and efficient. They gave great suggestions and information to help me go out and make decisions. They were very helpful and accommodating. They did exactly what they said they were going to do when they said they would.

Root's service was above-par. The telephone estimate was exactly what we were charged. In addition to the 3 ceiling fan boxes, the electrician installed a cut-off switch right at the attic access. When we install the fans themselves, turning off the electricity to those boxes will be very easy. He was able to replace the "guts" of the attic fan which saved us labor costs associated with taking out the existing housing. Additionally, he installed a cut-off switch for that fan (never installed by the builder). All work was done quickly and cleanly. There was no extra charge for the cut-off switches. This company is tremendous!

They responded to my email request for a quote the next day ( I initially emailed them late at night). They gave me a quote, we set a time and they arrived on time. We were expecting a baby and the access to the attic was in the newborn's room. They took great care and covered everything to keep dust, etc away. During installation a coil of wire fell off of one of the beams in the attic and it cracked the drywall of my ceiling. They promptly informed me, called in a dry wall person to fix it, knocked $100.00 off the payment and then offered to paint the ceiling but the dry wall person did such an exceptional job that it did not require painting. It was really amazing. After everything was done, they profusely apologized for the mishap, cleaned everything up and left. I was very satisfied with their work and will use them again to install some ceiling fans.

I called to discuss the work and left a message with the answering service. They called me back a few hours later to give me an estimate and schedule the work (they gave me a specific time, not a window). On the morning they were scheduled to do the work, they called to tell me they were on the way, and then they (2 younger guys) arrived exactly on time. They finished the work in a few hours, were professional, and everything looked great.

They arrived at my home at the scheduled time and two of them began work on the ceiling fan while the other worked to change some second story outside light bulbs that required at least a 20 foot ladder. We did not have the correct bulbs for these lights and so he was ultimately unable to change them. He then went to check out our patio. I soon realized that the lighting I purchased would not work out and he was very kind and understanding about my mistake. They finished up the ceiling fan and it installed the control switch for it.

I was blowing fuses in the kitchen like crazy and wanted someone to look at my wiring. Bill Root came and did a marvelous job. He explained that I had some high energy users on the same kitchen outlets, for example, my coffee maker and toaster over that I often use at the same time were probably the culprit. I made some minor adjustments based on his good advice. I just wanted an expert to tell me if I had electrical problems. Bill was a very polite young man and I would absolutely hire him again!

I had hung a fan where a smaller fan had been before. It was running perfectly and smoothly, but I didn't have confidence in the box that the previous owners had installed, as it was plastic and usually fan boxes are metal. Also, I couldn't figure out where it was attached to a beam as only one joist was nearby. Because this fan sits directly over my husband's head at his desk, I didn't want to take any chances, so I called Mr. Root after checking the list. He was gracious, and helpful over the phone. He did come out and replace the box, belaying my fears without being condescending as some other electricians had been, because I wanted to do some of the work myself. And he didn't try to bilk me out of more money. He explained as he went and very forthright. A great guy and a professional. I have already passed on his company information to a neighbor, and would do so again. Also, great prices, and the fan is perfect and strong. I have complete faith in this company.

I was very pleased with the fast response (they were out the next day), the fast resolution (it took Bill Root less than an hour to find and repair the problem), and the very reasonable price. I will use them again.

Bill Root III came to my home walked through with me listing to all my wants. He listen carefully and got a feel for the home. Next, we went back through and he made numerous suggestions. A few days later I received my estimate and scheduled the work. (I had to cancel the first appointment due to a family emergency; he was very accommodating). The day of service Bill showed up on time, we reviewed the work again and I left for work leaving my college age son at home. I must admit this was scary and I called home several times to check on things. At 4:00 my son called and said "You're gonna love it." When I got home I could not believe my eyes. They had put 6 recessed in my kitchen making only one small cut in the drywall. There are several small puncture marks which I could repair myself. All the other drywall cuts were made in a closet!!!! I was truly expecting to see big sections of drywall down in bedroom with the ceiling fan, but not so much as nick in that room. The best part is the change in my home. What a difference this lighting makes!!!!!! I'm so glad I listened to them. THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!

A faulty hall light fixture caused me to lose half the electricity in my house for 4 days. When Bill Root came he fixed the dimmer switch and installed another dimmer. He located the problem and suggested I find a new fixture. When I couldn't find anything I liked, he returned to remove the fixture so I could get it repaired. At that second visit he tweaked one of the dimmer switches that had gotten stuck. He came back a 3rd time to reinstall the repaired fixture. Everything is working now.

I called Root Electrical on a Saturday since the electricity was not working properly in more than 75% of my house. I described my situation to Bill Root and he suggested I first give the electric company a call as it sounded like the problem was in the wiring entering the house. He gave me his cell number and told me to call him back with the results. The electric company determined that there was a wiring problem under their purview and they fixed it free of charge. I really appreciated Bill Root's honesty. He could have easily come out, look around, charged me a fee and then told me to call the electric company. I will use Root Electric the next I do have an in-house electrical problem because I know the owner is an honest man with high integrity.

There were no problems, other than arriving about 45 minutes late. He called once he was in his cell phone service area and then arrived within a few minutes. Although the job took all day, Mr. Root remained personable, friendly, and engaged. Prior to each task, he protected the surrounding areas, then carefully cleaned up when he was finished. He was able to fish wire in most places, thus leaving very few holes in the walls to be patched. The work was higher than the estimate solely due to upgrading of two components: the whole-house surge protector (add $20) and a much more useful remote for the ceiling fan (add $20). I appreciate both upgrades.

These guys are great, they work well. Besides, they are very polite and trustworthy. They worked quickly and everything was done on time. I would definitely hire them again, in fact I have recommended them to many of my friends.

I thought Root did an excellent job! They installed the overhead fan and basement light fixture efficiently. They were prompt and kept me informed of their progress. The fan took a couple hours to install and the light fixture took about 1 1/2 hours. They were very courteous and neat. I will probably be giving them some more jobs in the fall.

Bill actually got there early and finished quickly. This is the least I have paid for any electrical work since I have been in Northern Virginia, and he did not leave a mess when he finished, like the other two electricians did whom I have used previously.

Great -- I chose this company because they had a great scorecard on Angie's list, plus I thought the price quote was reasonable and they were very pleasant to deal with. I was very pleased with the work and the price was great. I plan to use them in the future for some additional work I'm planning on doing (attic fan replacement, ceiling fans, etc).

We had a breaker for our bedroom that tripped and would not reset. I called Root Electric and left a message on the answering machine. I think within the same day or soon the next day someone returned my call and set up the appointment for about a week later. Bill Root came to our house on the day of the appointment. Mr. Root was a couple of hours late but explained that he had been very busy lately because of a recent electric storm in the area had increased the number of calls for service. I explained the problem to Mr. Root and told him that I thought the problem my have been a ceiling fan switch in one of the bedrooms. Mr. Root quickly corrected the switch wiring and solved the problem. Mr. Root was very nice and I was very satisfied with the service received. My only issue with the service call was that it took about a week to get someone to my house, this seems to be common for all electricians though, and that he was late. I still plan on using this company again if needed.
