It was excellent service, professional, on time and very neat.

They provided sound advice and people to contact to resolve the issue.

He came a little late due to traffic and bad GPS directions but very quickly had the problem fixed.

It was a great experience as the gentleman was very personable, yet professional. He went above and beyond what we expected him to do (cutting a hole for the bathroom light) and was very reasonable with the costs.

My experience with Root Electric is OUTSTANDING!! They are a professional, family-based business that adheres to the highest standards of professionalism, quality and work ethic. The wonderful experience began with Bill Root (junior) who provided a detailed and itemized estimate that was an accurate reflection of the work scope we had discussed. I appreciated the fact that he was able to provide options and alternatives to my proposed electrical work and was accommodating to any changes i made, even when it reduced the overall cost of work! He coordinated a time for the work to commence and accurately estimated that it would take 3 days to complete. This enabled me to adjust my work schedule without issue. The work was completed by Bill Root (senior) and his two associates. They divided and conquered given that work was needed in 7 different rooms. This enabled them to work in parallel and contribute to the project's on-time completion. Bill and his team covered up my furniture and rugs to minimize damage and dust. In all rooms but the kitchen, new wire had to be pulled, which meant that holes in the ceiling and walls were necessary to run the wire. Bill's team was very careful and neat about the holes they cut out and saved all the pieces so that they could be reused during drywall repair. Any questions I had were respectfully answered and any adjustments I requested were accommodated. As it turns out the particular living room recessed lights that I wanted were on back-order. However, instead of leaving me with 9 holes of darkness in my ceiling they temporarily installed recessed lights that enabled me to enjoy the new lighting while we awaited the arrival of the lights i had ordered. When the lights did arrive, Bill scheduled a time to install them that was convenient for me and showed up on time to complete the job. Bill came out one additional time when I needed some adjustments to be made and again was very accommodating. I am thrilled with the work that Root Electric did for me and know I will enjoy it for years to come!!

He was very friendly and professional (my dog loved him). He was ahead of schedule, so he was able to arrive at my house early. He called to let me know he could start early. Once he started, he started troubleshooting the problems befoe repairing them, and explaining the issue with my dimmer switches' blowing (used compact flourescent instead of incandescent bulbs).

The service was friendly, professional, promt, and the electrician went out of his way to make sure we were satisfied with the service. I HIGHLY recommend Root Electric for any elecrtical needs. This is the type of service that USED to be common in America.

I called Root Electric to ask if they installed attic fans and ceiling fans. Bill Root took the time to educate me on the net worth of both, and he talked me out of spending money on fans I wanted that would have no value for air circulation. He provided an estimate for installing an attic fan, and he walked me through each step of the process including which fan he would use. Bill provided the model number and the store he purchases the fans from, and he encouraged me to take a look at it online. Their soonest available appointment was over 2 weeks away, but I considered the demand for his business a fairly solid indicator of their reputation. Bill and his crew called the morning of the installation to let us know he was on his way, and they arrived punctually. I was at work so he and his crew walked my wife through every step of the process prior to doing it. The installation took approximately 2 hours, which was spot on his estimate. The worth of the fan is evident: the thermal layer in the second story of our townhouse is gone, and the whole house is cooler. All in all, I am incredibly impressed with the work, the result (air flow), and the courtesy of everyone involved with Root Electric. I would not even remotely consider someone else for future work. If someone at the proverbial water cooler asks me "hey, do you know a good electrician?" I can honestly say yes.

They were promt and friendly. They gave me a time frame of when they would arrive and when I asked them to call 20 min before they arrived they had no problem doing so, saving me a lot of time. I let them in and left shortly after. A little under 2hrs later they were done, there was no mess, and the fans were running with no issues. These guys are consummate professionals, friendly, and courteous. I would and will use them in the future for any electrical work that I have.

Called three high rated companies back in May to get estimates. Root Electric was the highest of the three but not by much. Out of the three Root was the only company that sent someone out to go over the plan, offer suggestions, and really get an idea of what I was looking to do. While the others were trying to get an idea over the phone, Root electric took the time to sit down with me and go over everything which showed me that they cared.. Got the estimate back a couple days after the initial visit and called to set up an install appointment and put down my deposit. The owner called me back to set up a time and also answered some questions I had. My wife wanted to pick out the dimmers and they had no problem with us getting them and having them take it off the bill. He also credited me the Angies list coupon. The technicians were scheduled to come out Thursday and run wiring for seven sconces and expand my existing boxes to accommodate three dimmers. They called the morning of to let me know when they would be here and were right on time. They asked if I had any concerns and then began setting up for the job. They put down drop clothes everywhere they were working. They had to go in our attic and basement to run wires for the sconces. While they were working on the sconces I asked them if they could look at another job i've been wanting to get an estimate on. The technician gave me a price and said that seeing how they were already pulling wires from the basement up they could do this at the same time. So, I had them wire up an outlet and a coax terminal in my office closet. They were done in record time and cleaned up anything that there drop clothes didn't catch. Very professional and I was so glad I went with Root Electric! They will have my business from here on out!

Mr. Root's son came out to give me estimates on a long list of electical and lighting projects related to remodeling. He refined the designer's lighting plan with excellent suggestions. He sent me two detailed estimates (one for the urgent project, one for the rest of the tasks). Mr. Root and his assistant completed the job in a day and a half and left my space cleaner than when they started. The result is just beautiful. Everyone was polite, prompt, friendly and helpful. Extremely professional. Over the next few months I will complete the rest of the electrical work with this company and have recommended them to family and friends.

This was a rental townhouse in Centreville, VA, that was under a contract for sale. My own residence is some 70 miles distance and I had limited time available. It was urgent that I had this work done very promptly to comply with the buyer's home inspector's report. I knew from a previous phone call that this company had a major job pending, but I needed some work done promptly to comply with the report. Root agreed to come out Thursday May 26, 2011, after their earlier major job was completed. [Incidentally, I received NO phone calls back from any other providers on Angie's list, so Root was my only hope.] Unfortunately, as they later explained, the prior customer was a late very sound sleeper and forgot their appointment(!). For some time they could not arouse him!!! So they were delayed for my relatively small job. Plus, local traffic was just awful due to major local road repair work. Finally, they called and promised to be at my property in 45 minutes (by about 8:15 PM or ) so, and they did arrive at the promised time. Bill Root was the provider and his task was to install several receptacles damaged and GFI units. He worked for more than two hours, as billed, with my problem, on into the evening to past 10 PM. After some puzzlement and his detailed analysis as to the way this town house was wired, he solved that mystery (I could tell the wiring was a bit unusual). Bill then proceeded to correct the previous inspector's incorrect recommendation and installed the required GFI in the kitchen, according to the updated code. This also required replacing a couple of receptacles. Next, we had a GFI to replace on the upper deck of the townhouse, at the exterior door. This townhouse was built in 1985, but Bill was next able to properly orient and place the weather resistant GFI at that door frame. A very nice piece of work. Finally, the receptacles on the lower deck were defective and basically broken from age. Bill found that an existing GFI located in the powder room on the upper floor actually controlled the receptacles at the lower deck (rather a weird arrangement, hard to explain that one!). He then replaced the broken items and all was then finished up. This is a long report, but I wanted to explain that Bill Root really went the extra mile in making sure everything was RIGHT. They were outstanding. The price was fair and the work was excellent. It is a father and son team. They are great to deal with and are friendly. We had no issues with them at all. They showed us how everything worked.

Overall the technician (Andrew) did a good job. He was professional, cleaned up after himself and was able to complete them job in a couple of hours. I was very satisfied with the service I received and would recommend Root Electric to other customers.

My entire experience with this company was positive. Bill Root showed up on time to provide an estimate for the work and then emailed me a written proposal. He helped me work out the details of the work and made sure the work performed was exactly what I needed. He was also very accommodating when I called at the last minute to add a standard outlet. Bill Root Sr. and Andrew showed up on time on the day of the work. They were very polite, performed excellent work, left the work areas clean, and tolerated my dogs pestering them hroughout the day. The work took about four hours. I will definitely use them again.

Measurement, consulting, and communications after all went fine. Ultimately, we felt the price quoted was high (ridiculously so) and decided to to do the work ourselves. Even the materials portion of the quote was 2X what I spent at Lowe's (retail!) for the materials to do the job.

Root Electric installed a 4-way light switch in my home, which can be complicated. The company was extremely responsive and professional from initial inquiry through actual work performed. The technician showed up precisely when scheduled, was clearly well trained and experienced, and completed the work in about 30 minutes. Very knowledgeable, neat, and pleasant to deal with. The price -- stated up front during the initial inquiry -- was competitive and fair. I have had several negative experiences with other electricians in this area, so Root Electric will be my first choice from this point forward.

I called Root Electric for an estimate. They gave me an extimate and I agreed to it. I made an appointment with them to have the work done. Bill Root showed up when he said he would. He looked professional. The first thing he did was put down drop cloths. He installed first one receptacle then the other one, cleaning up as he went along. Everything went well; his workman ship was excellent. The over all experience was excellent.

My 84 year old father needed a replacement light fixture for his kitchen. I contacted Root Electric and promptly received a return call. I was given a fair estimate for the job, and also a discount due to being an Angie's List customer. My father indicated that the company representative (Andrew) came out on the day and time scheduled, and did an excellent job. My dad was very pleased, and so am I with this professional company. Mr. Root himself came to install the 220 line, later a young man came and did most of the cat 5/cable work. Mr. Root was a very nice person and did a great job and cleaned up after himself. The young man was good but seemed to be in some kind of a hurry and made a couple of mistakes, nothing major and were fixed easy. All in all I was very pleased with the work.

Technician was friendly and professional. Diagnosed the problem and respoved the issue. I was very satisfied with the work done and would recommend Root Electric
