I called and left a message with the answering service. I received a call from Bill, the owner of the company and explained all that I needed done. He was extremely helpful on the phone. We scheduled a date that worked for both of us. Bill, arrived on time and got right to work. He was very helpful in answering some questions that I had and offered a few excellent tips. The work was completed in no time. After talking with Bill about installing 3 wall switches for ceiling fans that I have in bedrooms he gave me a very fair price on not only installing the switches but also installing the new fans that I had purchased. Bill's work was clean and he made sure to put down a drop cloth when needed. I would definitely recommend Root Electrical. This company prides itself on taking its time and doing things right not cutting corners. Thanks Bill for your awesome service and I look for to our next Job. Brad

I filled out a service request for this provider and received an email on 7 July stating that I would be contacted. I never did hear from them.

The work done (Installing electrical and a ceiling fan in our master bedroom) went well. We are happy with their service and would recommend them to friends and use them again. We also received a quote for other electrical work which we expect to have done in the future. Only issue I had was that they are not the easiest to contact. One time I called them I got an answering service that was to pass along my message to call me back and I never received a call back so I called another number listed here in Angie's list and listed as a cell phone and we made the appointment with no issues. Another time I tried to call their number (Not the cell phone), the phone would ring for awhile and then just disconnect. I noticed in other ratings for these folks that the phone service issues were mentioned as well. Now-a-days with so many contractors not returning calls and customer service in general going downhill I would suggest they quickly take care of their phone issues. I would and will definitely use them again though as the phone issues were minor for me however I could see other people just moving on to the next contractor.

Only 3.5 hours total for all this work! Two tecnicians worked very efficiently and neatly as a team. Minimized damage to sheetrock during chandelier installation...owner easily repaird cutouts. Exterior lighting fxtures complicated by adding heavy solid brass lanterns and new back boards over 22 year old wide aluminum siding. This vendor is excellent...highly recommended.

Went very well. Mr. Root is a courteous professional. Even laughed at some of my lame jokes. Installation went well and the light works perfectly. I would definitely use him again.

Our electrician arrived promptly and completed the work efficiently and in a timely manner. He cleaned up after his work. He was great !

Our finished basement has always been about 7 degrees cooler than the main floor. This is nice in the summer but not good for the winter. We had put off installing supplemental baseboard heating because the area is finished and we knew that the ceiling and walls would need to be cut to run and install the wiring. We found Root Electric through Angie's LIst. After reading the members comments, we called Root Electric for an estimate. Mr. Root came out within two weeks of the call to discuss the job and offered suggestions. An estimate was sent via e-mail and we discussed the details with Mr. Root and came to an agreement and scheduled the installation date. The estimate did explain that they would have to cut the ceiling and wall and baseboards to install the units. The estimate did explain that any drywall repairs and painting were not included in the estimate and it would be up to us to hire someone to have these repairs completed. When they came out to install everything went smoothly. Mr. Root stopped by first to walk through the site with me and dropped off the heaters and the heat lamp. Within an hour the two electricians arrived and started the work. They kept me informed throughout the day of their progress. This was an involved project. The electricians had to run a line from the circuit box in the garage along the wall into the basement. They installed a subpanel in the basement. They took great care and expertise to run the wiring from the unfinished basement through the ceiling back to the rooms to receive the heaters and thermostats. Where they could they shot the wire above the ceiling and only had to cut the ceiling area into the two rooms receiving the heaters. Where they cut the ceiling and wall areas, they would screw the drywall pieces back into the studs. This way the room's appearance looked better than just leaving it open. (In fact, the painter we hired to do the drywall repair and painting was very impressed that the electricians took the time to reinstall the patches.) Root finished the job in one day as they expected. The electricians were very professional, knowledgeable and took care of my home as if it were their own. If I ever have any other electrical work, Root Electric will be the first company I call.

Bill Root, the President, usually accompanies his electricians on sight and Bill is very professional. Aside from our last visit, they've been very consistent on their quality of service. On our last visit, the clean up wasn't as thorough as it had been previously. There was some miscommunication about the type of re-wiring to be done regarding dimmable switches. I thought they should have clarified it based on their experience and I didn't understand that part of the wiring. Bill didn't come out for this visit which I was a bit disappointed for the President did not come out to inspect the work. Prior to this I have been satisfied.

Two men came and installed lights under cabinets in the kitchen, an overhead light and switches for the under-cabinet fixtures. While one fitted the overhead light the other installed the 4 under-cabinet lights. Once they were in place, one person using a handdrill drilled holes in the underside of the cabinet through which to pass a cable connecting all 4 lights. Two infrared switches were installed in appropriate locations on the kitchen walls. These switches were provided by Root Electric and enable switching of the under-cabinet lights independent of the overhead. The job was done in a reasonable amount of time, minor cleanup done quite satisfactorily and I had the comfort of knowing that the job was performed by electricians who knew very well what they were doing. This has made a tremendous difference in the lighting in the kitchen and for that I am very pleased.

Root Electric's workers are top-notch; they know exactly what to do and how to do it. My place had some weird wiring thanks to the designer who worked with my kitchen and baths.This was Root's 3rd old fan/light removal and replacement in approximately 3 months.

Had to replace a GFCI Outlet in the garage. It was an easy job and they took care of it quickly and it cost on $100.00 for the service visit and parts. I like dealing with a local small business and not some national or regional chain. Will go back to Root anytime I need electrical service.

Andrew from Root Electric was very professional. I explained to him that after replacing a blown out light bulb in a fan in a different bedroom, one circuit was complete dead. He got to work checking all receptacles and switches for loose connections. He checked the breaker box for a bad circuit breaker. Found all to be correct. Turned out there was one receptacle behind a large bookcase in an adjacent bedroom, which had not been checked. After emptying and moving the bookcase, it was the one which was causing the outage - loose wiring, He replaced the receptacle in a timely manner.

They did good work. I remember thinking that the back door light they installed was kind of pricey. They just took the one light off and put the other one on.

Excellent service in all categories. Responded to my initial call promptly. Quoted accurate price. Staff was couteous, professional. Finished job promptly. No mess. Will use again absolutely. So happy I can use my rotisserie out back now!

I wasn't there; my husband was. He was very pleased with the service and said that we will definitely use Root again! (The price I used above is an approximation -- I don't remember exactly what the cost was, but it was reasonable.)

Root Electric call you back right away, they are punctual and on time. I live in a really expensive area and they did not charge me for being in an upscale area although they had to travel a distance so that was really nice. They are a father,son operation and I was just impressed with the whole thing.

We have hired Root multiple times. Jim is always professional and provides detailed estimates. They have done great work and always clean up after themselves. The lights and fans all went as planned. The new outlet and electric panel work was trickier due to location and the need to fish lines in tight spaces but they did a great job. Highly recommend them.

Pretty well. The only very minor complaint was that a small hole was made in a wall in a room adjacent to the office. It was a rather difficult cut and the area was tight, so we forgave them. They were on time and did what was expected in a very professional manner.

This is a long overdue review; my apologies for the delay. Bill Root of Root Electric was wonderfully patient from the start. He was impressively professional upon his first meeting with us to survey the space. He made a number of helpful recommendations on how to array recessed lighting given our large beams in the vaulted ceiling. We very much appreciated his suggestions such as avoiding recessed lighting interiors other than white so that the lights would disappear or blend into the white ceiling. One reason we went with Root was based on the Angie's List reviews that described a company willing to help you determine what you wanted to accomplish in the room. Root Electric did not disappoint in being helpful. Bill Root worked with us on a couple of estimates as we settled on what we wanted to do to transform our dark living area into a room in which we could actually see. The results were wonderful, and we are extremely pleased. On the first day of the job, Bill Root himself showed up with the crew to walk through the details of the job and the placement of the lighting. The job took about two days to complete. It involved install of one foyer light, install of new track lighting, and install of two zones of recessed lighting--one set of two that features the fireplace and another set of six that illuminates the entire room. Root Electric was crystal clear that we would have some drywall repair to contend with, which we were fully expecting and were able to deal successfully with using our normal painter. Root Electric helpfully saved pieces of the textured ceiling drywall that our painter was also able to reuse in the repair. We were extremely pleased with the quality and results of the work, and we are looking forward to using Root Electric again for our next electrical project. Thank you.

I emailed Root Electric on 4/25/2013 with pictures of our electric meter housing which had become separated from the siding. Bill Sr. emailed me back the next morning saying they had had success in the past with reattaching meter housings, but if they couldn't then there would be no charge. Bill came by on 5/3/2013 to inspect the housing and determined it did not need to be reattached just that the siding trim and caulking had worn and needed to be replaced. Overall, Bill was very informative and helpful and if I need any future electrical help, I will definitely be contacting Root Electric again.
