Root Electric

My only slights were with the price and the communication between electrician and myself. Price seemed a little steep for the minimal amount of work performed. Electrician did not call day before or day of to give a time when they would come. Albeit, I did tell him we would not be home, so that could have been taken to mean to come whenever. It still would have been nice to know when they planned on coming over.

We HIGHLY recommend Root Electric. Our front porch light had been erratic for years, and then completely stopped working a few weeks ago. After seeing the positive reviews on this site, I called. Bill Root responded immediately and we set up a date and time. A very nice and very professional employee named Andrew was arrived right on time and switched out our old light (circa 1979!) with a new one that worked with the motion detector we already had. During his visit, the light worked perfectly. However, it didn't work after that. I called Bill Root who sent Andrew back the next day. Andrew found that the problem was with the motion detector. Options included rewiring the front or getting a new light with a built-in motion detector. We selected a new light, Andrew installed it, and it's worked perfectly ever since. Not only did Root Electric honor the initial price estimate for the visit, the company accepted the Angie's List coupon - and did not charge for the 2 subsequent visits. All contacts with Root Electronic were very pleasant. We were particularly impressed with the level of service - especially given that this was not a big job. Furthermore, Root Electric responded quickly even in the height of the holiday season. We are grateful to find this level of service and professionalism.

Workers arrived early and quickly assessed requirements. All work completed promptly and passed county inspection.

On 18 Dec I awoke in the middle of the night to take medication in advance of an outpatient medical procedure and noted my heat (electric heat pump) to be off. The digital thermostat was blinking, no HVAC. I went downstairs to investigate and noted the lights to be very dim, and also noted some unusual electric symptoms in other parts of the house, though much work correctly. Thinking it was a damaged or shorted component of some sort I went to the circuit breaker box but nothing was tripped. I then called the number for Root Electric from the Angies List flyer, since my wife had previously called them and gotten good service. At 3 in the morning I got a live person from their answering service who took down my information and symptoms. She asked if it was an 'emergency' and I told her it wasn't but that I would like to have someone call or come out first thing in the morning. We left for the hospital at 7:15 and while I was in the admissions process for the outpatient procedure the technician called my wife and asked her to describe the problem. After listening and asking a few questions he told her that the problem was likely to be with the underground electrical supply and that we should first call Dominion Virginia Power (our electric utility) since there were no tripped breakers, etc. He gave my wife his cell phone and told her to please call once the utility was able to review the situation. My wife then called the power company from the hospital, they came and investigated the problem and after some digging were able to repair a faulted electric supply cable, restoring our power to normal and our heat. Before she had a chance to call him back the representative from Root Electric (I think he was Bill) called back to check on the situation and my wife informed him of the repair and thanked him for his courteous advice and help. We were not charged for this service.

Bill Root came to the house and reviewed the electrical issues we wanted to discuss. He then provided us with a detailed estimate and , happy with his estimate, we hired him. Two young electricians performed the work. They were very polite and friendly. Best of all, they did a great job. We are hoping in the near future to put in track lighting and will definitely call Root Electric to do the work.

I had been having problems with my telephone and cable tv service and the problem was with the phone line and cable in my house. I explained the problem to Mr. Root on the phone and he said he would come out the next morning to give me an estimate. He was on time and very professional. He gave me the estimate and called the next morning to set up an appointment for the electricians to come out and replace the lines. They showed up on time, were very professional, and did a great job. They cleaned up after themselves and answered all questions I had. I would definitely recommend Root Electric and will call them again for any electrical problems.

I will DEFINITELY hire the crew from Root Electric next year after I finalize the new kitchen and three bathroom layouts that I am still working on; which is why timing is everything.

I was very satisfied with him. It was kind of tricky and he had to come two times before he was able to figure out what it was, but he only charged me one time. Everything was really good. He came when I called him.

The job was performed better than I anticipated following the interview. The crew was professional, worked quickly, caused minimal "damage" to the dry wall while installing new junction boxes, asked for my preferences when placing new junction boxes and fixtures before moving forward, did an excellent job in clean-up. I could not be more pleased. This crew and Mr. Root's company is highly recommended and I will use them again, should I need additional electrical work done.

We were very pleased with Root Electric, over-all. They came out here within a few days of our call. Since it was not an emergency, we were not in a hurry. They gave us an arrival time of 8:30-9:00 am and they were here before 9:00....very punctual. The 2 young men were courteous, professional and worked efficiently and quickly. They explained the reason for the problem, repaired it to our satisfaction and then left. We would certainly call them again in the future if we need anything else electrical done.

Removed a ceiling fan that had come loose and was dangling. Installed a new fan.

Everything we needed was taken care of and the electricians were very efficient. I would certainly call them when I need any electrical work.

Root did an excellent job. They showed up on time, completed the job under the time they quoted, and were extremely professional during the entire installation. The price was steep but for great service that we know is reliable I would be more than happy to pay a little more. The initial meeting for the estimate was very informative. They knew exactly what needed to be done and told us all the steps that they would take care of and anything that needed to be done on our end. They also sent an email estimate, confirmation, and calendar request for the appointment. After the installation and inspection was done they came back to fix one item that wasn't necessarily needed by code but that was noted on the inspection report.

We love them and we use them for all of our electrical.We called them and instructed what to do for what my husband would do. They're always very responsive and really, really nice and do a good job. We really like the guy that came out.

The circuit breaker was tripping repeatedly in my kitchen which was wreaking havoc on my life because it involved my refrigerator. I called Root electric and had to leave a message with the answering service which made me a little nervous because I was anxious to set up an appointment. I did receive a phone call back, though, that day. I spoke with Bill Root and explained what was happening at my home. Bill told me he would be out the next morning to check the circuit breaker. He called the next morning to ask the brand of the electric panel at my home so he would have what was needed when he arrived. Bill was punctual and successfully replace the circuit breaker in the panel box. He also checked adjacent breakers to make sure they had not been damaged. He was polite, professional and genuinely a very nice man. I would feel confident and happy to use this company again!

Installation went well. The workers were prompt and courteous. They worked quickly and cleaned up very well when they were done. I would use them again.

The young man who came to install the fixture was extremely polite and professional, and explained the work as he went along. He also have me some information regarding other electrical work I was thinking of having performed at the time (but which I have yet to have done). It was a fairly brief visit (maybe 45 minutes) and the light has worked fine ever since. The price was very reasonable, although I cannot recall exactly what it cost me. Whatever it was, it was worth it. I would certainly use Root again in the future, and would encourage others to do so as well.

They were fabulous. It's a family-owned company. They are very knowledgable and helpful.

Bill Root arrived at the appointment time and began work immediately. He replaced two exterior fixtures, one interior fixture, repaired one ceiling fan light, and repaired the light on the microwave. From the arrangement of the appointment to the time he completed the work, he was very professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly. I could go on quite a bit. One of the reasons I called Root Electric was the company's expertise in dealing with homes with aluminum wiring. I will definitely use them company again.

Great. Informative, responsive, organized, clean. Bill Jr. took time to explain things and offer suggestions. They worked around my schedule and I felt comfortable enough to leave a key for the crew. Everything was wired neatly and looks great. Price was good based on 3 estimates i got.

Fantastic service! Prompt communication and action, very professional throughout. Went out of their way to cut as few holes in the drywall as possible in order to save us on repairs. Explained everything, no push or hurry. Wonderful company that I'd recommend to anyone.

Found Root Electric on Angies list. I was concerned about a possible electrical hazard. Spoke directly with Mr. Root and he sent a technician the following day to inspect. Several items were identified as potential safety hazards and a follow up appointment was made...I greatly appreciated Mr. Roots response to my immediate concerns, and the professionalism of his technician. I would hire Root Electric again.

Everything went smoothly. Root electric is possibly the best company I've ever worked with (and I've worked with quite a few having gutted our last house). Super nice guys that know exactly what they are doing - love it.

Company went out of the way to provide the services at just the right time during the repairs; provided very professional services and did not invent work that was not necessary. I needed most a professional opinion and that's exactly what I got. No more, no less.

Root was extremely responsive and easy to work with. The initial visit for them to look at our current electrical system was very thorough and the quote they provided included all of the items that we had discussed. Bill Root took very good notes on his ipad during the initial quote phase and I felt like he really spent his time getting all of the details down correctly, which ultimately made the work go smoothly. They coordinated the necessary inspections with the county and kept us informed about the status of the inspection and replacement of the box on the exterior of the house. I was pleased with how the work went and they were able to time it to coordinate with some other planned remodeling we had for our basement. Overall, there were no surprises and the work performed was done well.
