Very good. Estimator gave good feedback on our requests, telling us what would make a difference in our comfort and heating bills and what wouldn't. Crew arrived on time, finished very quickly, and did a good job cleaning up.
Description of Work: Blew in additional insulation to attic, added rolled insulation to vertical attic walls and in crawl space. Removed old insulation from the last two as well.

AIS did a fabulous job! Two crews worked on our project. One did the garage ceiling and the other did the attic. Both were on-time (to the minute!), courteous, and professional. The garage crew left the garage cleaner than the day we moved in to the house! In both cases the crew chief had me climb up in to the work space to verify that the work was being completed to my satisfaction. The estimate was the actual cost of the project and the office staff was friendly, professional and quick to respond to our questions. AIS gets its great ratings for a reason!
Description of Work: Installed blown cellulose insulation in attic to bring from an R-30 average to an R-55 average. Install R-30 batt insulation in garage attic to improve temperature regulation in bedroom located above garage.

The overall process went well. They showed up early that morning. They tried to put insulation in the walls of a bedroom, but there was not enough gap between the cinder block and the walls. They said they would need another type of hose to do the work. They took this off the final bill. They did blow insulation in the attic, and helped remove some items that might collect dust (like a baby swing, etc). They did all the work in the attic and cleaned up the insulation VERY well. Very neat job up there. They also cleaned the entire hallway and any path they had to use to work. The garage ceiling was a chore, because there was some insulation in parts, but not all so they had to drill a ton of holes to make sure it was all filled. They did a good job and cleaned up very well also. We had to book the appointment quite a while in advance, but overall, I think they did a great job.
Description of Work: Blew insulation in to attic as well as the ceiling of our garage (which is the floor to two bedrooms). Put insulation around whole house fan as well as a liner around our recessed lighting to prevent them from shutting off in the summer (due to heat.) Were supposed to blow insulation in to walls of one bedroom.

Estimate was accurate, description of why to add in particular areas was clear. Two crews came, one for the attic work, the other for the garage ceiling. Each was thorough, careful of our property, cleaned up thoroughly, and in the garage ceiling patched the holes nicely. Polite responsive people. We found them through Angie's List as new subscribers and they performed as described by others. Wonderful company! Major difference in home comfort right after they finished.

I called to get an estimate and spoke to Debbie, who was friendly and efficient, set an appointment for within a week. Dave arrived on time, gave suggestions and said an estimate would be mailed in a week to ten days. Estimate arrived within the week, I called, spoke to Debbie, agreed on an appointment date. The team of 3 arrived as scheduled, laid out protective coverings on all surfaces and began to work. They went about the job in a very professional manner and within 3 to 4 hours the work was completed and the everything cleaned up. The team leader asked that I check out the work to make sure I was satisfied and they left. The entire experience was very easy and pleasant and I ended up with a great improvement in the amount of insulation in my attic.

The estimator came at the right time and date - I wasn't here, because of my mix up in the date. My tenant answered the door and let him in. I talked with Debbie, the receptionist, who answered my questions. I paid 1/2 of the bill by mail. A date was set for the insulation and the truck and 3 men arrived on time. They went right to work - one in the attic, one inside setting up, protecting my furniture and moving items from tops of furniture then working the hose through the bathroom window and one outside working the truck and machinery. They worked steadily for about four hours. I was home the whole time. They worked well as a team - courteous all the time. When they were through almost everything was back to normal. One of the men left his jacket so I called Debbie to let her know I will leave it between my two doors if I am not at home so it can be picked up. The temperature in the house is much more even and I am very satisfied with the work that was done. I paid by check.
Description of Work: I chose this company because of all the positive comments written by others. Everything about it was excellent. The estimator arrived on time (I didn't) and another person let him in. He gave me an estimate which was $1,500 less than another. I was surprised about the product being blown into the house, but the installers explained what it was and I was very satisfied I am a particular housekeeper and was impressed with the way they handled my things and covered up furniture to prevent dust buildup. They were on time, courteous, wasted no time getting to work, they were a well organized team (3 people) and the job they did resulted in immediate improvement in the comfort of the temperature of the house (three stories). I am grateful for Angie's List as I am single, from another area, and didn't know who to trust. In my book the company rates an A+.

The crew of 3 arrived right at the appointment time and they lined our hall and stairs with drop-cloths immediately. They were able to pull the feed tube through our upstairs window almost directly under the attic hatch. George and his crew wrapped a sky light and filled the attic to just above R-49. The whole job took under 2 hours and they also applied bat insulation to the underside of the hatch and surrounding area around the hatch to prevent insulation from falling out. Vacuumed the entire area and cleaned up everything. We were very, very satisfied with the work and the estimate was right on target.
Description of Work: The insulation in our attic was only about an R-20 and we contacted Absolute Insulation based on the recommendations we read on Angie's list to upgrade the insulation. We called in the dimensions of the attic area (about 900 square feet) and they faxed an estimate for bringing the insulation up to code which is R-49. Made the appointment and was fulfilled in less than one week.

I was very impressed with their service from beginning to end. The man who came to do the estimate was great and fully explained everything. They had to cut an access panel in a small bedroom for someone to get up into, and then "drill and fill" the parts of the house that had very little attic space. As it turns out, they didn't have to do drill and fill because the guy that went through the access panel somehow shimmied his way to the back of the house commando style and was able to blow it all in. They were courteous, on-time, efficient and very neat - cleaning up after themselves. In fact (no joke), I think my second floor was cleaner after they left than before they came! They were a pleasure to work with. AND, as an added bonus and because there was no drill and fill, the price was about $200 less than the estimate. Wow!

I had one other bid on the project from Home Depot and it seemed to be high. It was by about 100%, as I recall. The company came on time and on the scheduled day. They have a big truck and run a flexible tube into the house and up into the attic. They are careful to not bring in a lot of debris and cover the carpets on the path of this tube. After completing the attic I took a look, at their suggestion, and approved the job over the house. However, when I looked in the attic, no insulation had been blown in. The supervisor said it was not on his ticket. To make it short, this was quickly ironed out and the insulation was put in. The insulation on the walls of the garage was put in by another crew a few days later. They also installed insulation in a laundry room in the basement. This was a project that I added to the job. I liked the fact that Debbie in the office and George the working supervisor were able to give me an estimate and OK the work in a few minutes. All work A-OK.
Description of Work: Absolute installed blown-in insulation in the attics over the living space of the home and over the garage. Also, they installed insulation on the walls of the garage and in the basement where there was no installation. All was done to either put in insulation where none existed before or upgrade existing insulation. They put enough in to bring the insulation up to EPA guidelines for this region. The estimator gave me statistics and opinion on the savings in power I would have with the new insulation. I feel the house is already warmer and I often have turn down the heat. They told me about the tax deduction I can get on my Federal tax return this year (2007). That is good to know since it lowers the cost of the job. I feel the company was unusually responsive and had friendly and customer service oriented employees. They should know they are all helping in the effort to reduce greenhouse gases and reduce energy consumption in the USA.

Contacted Absolute Insulation to provide a quote for the work to be performed. Mr. Simpson responded promptly (within a week) to review work to be performed and provide estimate. An estimate was provided on July 23rd, 2007. I accepted the estimate and work was scheduled for August 8th, 2007. Mr. Simpson and the workers arrived at approx. 9:30 A.M. on August 8th. Mr. Simpson and the workers were very courteous and responded promptly with answers to any questions I had. The workers completed the job at approximately 10pm. Additional insulation (240 sq. ft.) was required to complete the work. This was told to me before the work was done and I agreed with the explanation. The total cost increased by $196.00 to $1795.45. The workers did an exceptional job.
Description of Work: Remove and dispose of old batt insulation in attic and knee walls. Approx. 224 sq. ft.; re-install R-40 Kraft-faced fiberglass batt insulation in knee walls. Approximately 224 sq. ft. of 16" material; install blown insulation in attic room slopes and flats through 2.5" drilled holes to fill cavities. Approximately 303 sq. ft.; install blown insulation in walls below windows, interior dormer walls, bathroom and closet exterior wall through 2.5" drilled holes to fill cavities. Plug holes and cover with one coat vinyl spackle. Approximately 257 sq. ft.; cut and replace four access holes; does not include drywall finishing; Install an extra 240 sq. ft. of R-38 cellulose insulation in four attic flats.

We were extremely happy with Absolute Insulation. They were friendly, professional and organized from the initial phone to the completion of the job. They visited first and provided a written estimate and were flexible in scheduling the work. They confirmed before arriving on the day of service and called when they were 15 minutes away so that we could leave work to meet them at the house at the very last possible moment.
Description of Work: The temperature variation between the top floor of the house and the bottom two was significant. We had the company insulate the attic in hopes of remedying that problem. After the work was done, we noticed a significant improvement. The attic is 844 square foot and we chose to use the higher quality insulation (R-55 value). The company also insulated the trap door leading to the attic to avoid loss of heating/cooling through it.

The first visit, the Absolute Insulation technician was scheduled to insulate the attic area, a closet in the dormer of the master bedroom, and the attic area access panel. During the job, the technician reported that he was would be able to crawl way back and insulate the cathedral ceiling over the master bedroom - did I want to do that? Yes, indeed! It was a very hot day - in the 90's - and I was impressed by the technicians perfectionism. We immediately noticed the house was quieter, as the heat pump was not on all the time anymore. The second time out, the crew worked in our garage to insulate the garage ceiling/master bedroom flooring. The crew was able to get the job started around 9:30 AM, and finish while I went off to work.
Description of Work: We have an 18 year old home that is large and lovely, but the master bedroom over the garage has always been horribly cold in the winter. Also, our kitchen/family room area was always the hottest room in the summer. Absolute Insulation came to our house and during the estimate process, found that much of the insulation in our attic had disintegrated over the years, or been kicked aside (from other work, or maybe from storing boxes in the attic). They recommended, and then installed blown-in cellulose insulation in the garage ceiling, in the attic, on the attic access panel, in the dormer closet in the master bedroom, and even managed to insulate the cathedral ceiling over the master bedroom. We noticed immediately that the heat pump ran only rarely, instead of constantly, as it had done before.

These guys know what they are doing, and are proud of their work. It has been ages since I have heard any vendor say "we really appreciate your business", and I believed them! They are so invested in what they do that they asked that we follow up with them in a couple months to let them know how much our heating bills have been reduced. Could not have had a better experience.
Description of Work: We had next to no insulation in our attic, and our house was blistering hot. Absolute insulation came out, gave us an estimate, explained in detail how the products worked and the level of insulation we could achieve. They scheduled the actual work within two days of the estimate, even though it meant coordinating two different trucks to come out (special hose is needed to blow insulation under the attic floor as opposed to in the open areas). All went off without a hitch.

The work was performed perfectly, and we have zero complaints. I would highly recommend Dave and his company for anyone who needs insulation added. Although they did move our appointment from the morning to the afternoon, they communicated this with us ahead of time which gave us plenty of time to prepare. The crew left our house exactly as it was when they arrived, and took care to not disturb our neighbors with their equipment. When Dave and his crew completed the job and showed me the results I was very, very impressed. He had worked around some obstacles in the attic very nicely, and had even added some insulation around the attic hatchway where our ladder rests (which was not part of the original estimate but was sorely needed!). Our house was very clean and there was no damage or other issues. It has been only two days and the weather has been mild, but we already notice a huge difference. Excellent!

The entire team was very friendly and hardworking. They were very knowledgeable, arrived punctually, and cleaned afterwards. There was a small incident where the top of a sideboard got scratched. However, as soon as they were made aware they took full responsibility for the problem and their office took on the initiative to contact the manufacturer and had the top portion of the sideboard replaced. They were very proactive, professional and courteous about handling the problem. I have no reservations about recommending them to anyone.

David returned our call quickly and came around to give an estimate. He answered all my question and even sent me a link on saving energy. He really seems to care about having a "green" company and saving energy costs for is customers. His estimate was right to the penny. He said that he would be at our home at between (9:30 and 10 am and was there right on time; he even called and said he was on his way. He covered the floors with cloths and protected the carpets. He cleaned up as he went. All in all we are very happy with David and his work. Even my in-laws were impressed !!
