Due to the holidays and other scheduling problems on my part, Dave of Absolute Insulation was able to schedule the rip out in one day, Dec 22 and installation of the new materials on Dec. 23. I have to admit the guys that came to rip out were very professional; taking great care not to make a mess, and working around the 15' Christmas tree that just got decorated the weekend before their arrival. Contending with the holidays, the household decorations, three dogs and one very anxious kid, the workers were very kind and did a great job. That night the temperatures dropped and even with quilts, blankets and the furnace going, both myself and son were very cold with the house not having insulation. This experience made a great impact on us, especially during the holidays and made us appreciate what we had and feel like doing more for those who have less. (We had roof over our heads, blankets, beds, were not sleeping in snow or wet areas and were out of the blast of wind homeless people regularly contend with. We even had hot water and bathrooms!). The next day a different crew came to install and they were just as nice as the rip-out crew. My son and I supplied the workers with hot coffee, chocolate and fresh baked Christmas cookies. The whole job went smoothly and that night we were roasty toasty warm. PS (In thanksgiving for what we have, we ended up giving winter coats, scarves, hats and gloves to an organization who gives them out to the homeless in our area.)
Description of Work: My son had a leak in his bedroom and after the roof was repaired and the attic dried out, I needed to find someone to replace the missing insulation. I contacted Absolute Insulation on Angies List, talking to Dave to give me an estimate which he came out and did the next day. I decided that since the attic had alot of old insulation still inside it and it was not up to energy efficient standards, I had Dave give me an estimate to remove ALL the insulation in my attic and the cost to replace with R-49 (high energy efficient, and eco friendly insulation).

From the first time I called to inquire about getting my crawl space insulated until the completion of the job, I was a happy customer. Multiple questions were answered over the phone, work to be done was thoroughly described, the workers arrived on time and prepared and my final costs were less than the estimate. I had an overall good experience with this company and will surely use them again.
Description of Work: Crawl space was insulated.

We were exceptionally pleased with the work done. David was a pleasure to work with, and his team did a great job protecting our property by putting clean drop cloths everywhere they worked and vacuuming up after they left. We improved our insulation from R-25 to R-49 value in the attic, and the project supervisor showed me his work in the attic, and the measuring sticks he used to make sure the insulation was installed evenly throughout, and made sure I was satisfied. He answered all my questions during the job, and made sure the job was done right. It has made a huge difference already in our comfort in a MBR that is over the garage, as well as stopping the drafts we felt throughout the house during the cold weather.
Description of Work: Cellulose insulation was blown into the main and master bedroom attic; fiberglass batt insulation was installed around attic openings. Kneewall attic storage area existing insulation was removed and replaced with better insulation. Garage ceiling (with MBR overhead) was drilled and filled with cellulose insulation. Holes were filled and covered with one coat of vinyl spackle.

From the time I selected Absolute I was impresssed. They returned my calls in a timely manner (usually the same day or the day after), and thoroughly explained my options. The workers showed up on time, and put drop cloths down from the front door to the area to be insulated. The entire job was done in about 2 1/2 hours and we almost immediately noticed a difference in the floor temperatures above the area that was insulated.
Description of Work: Absolute placed a 6-mil vapor barrier on the floor area (previously just rocks) and R-30 insulation between the floor joists in our crawl space, approximately 24x28 feet. They even placed insulation around the underside of the steps that were exposed in the crawl space.

Operations Manager David Sampson, one of the owners of this family business, provided the estimate for the job. He was exceptionally knowledgeable and professional in his inspection of the attic and in his presentation to my wife and me. After he sent me the written estimate, David was amenable to clarifying changes in the terms of the agreement. I was impressed that David arrived with the installation crew on the day of the job. He went over everything with his experienced crew chief, and the crew worked hard for several hours to complete the installation as described above. At my request, David returned a couple of weeks after the work was done to inspect it and answer several questions that I had about the insulation. Later, a roofer who was inspecting some of his own work in the attic, asked me who had done the attic insulation work because it was the best he had ever seen.
Description of Work: Absolute Insulation Services used Applegate Stabilized Cellulose to insulate the attic to an R-49 Value all the way from R-2 (or practically devoid of insulation) in my 44-year-old house. Fiberglass was installed on a short wall extension and around the edges of the small area of flooring in the attic. Vulnerable recessed light fixtures were protected. All debris (including some of mine) was removed, and the attic, the living level below, and the outside area where the hose ran to blow in the cellulose were thoroughly cleaned before the crew departed.

They were fabulous! I highly recommend them! They really went beyond the call of duty. Their prices were reasonable. They informed me that I was going to get a tax credit which I didn't even know about. He itemized it on my bill for me. They were very helpful as well.

Absolute Insulation promptly contacted us about an estimate, scheduled it in less than a week and performed the service a week later. They showed up early (about an hour and a half early) and completed their work on time and on budget. The results of their work were noticed immediately. Our previously very hot (summer) and very cold (winter) master bath and bedroom were very comfortable. We expect to see dramatic savings in our HVAC bill next month. The insulation they blew into the ceiling of our garage caused cellulose dust to come in through the kitchen light fixtures, but they quickly stopped their work; sealed and taped the area and then cleaned all of the dust up after they completed their work.
Description of Work: Added insulation to attic and to garage area.

I would double, double check the estimate while they are giving it to you. But just to make sure it is very specific how many holes etc. will be drilled. They showed up at 11, got to work at noon, and finished at 5:30. I'm very satisfied.
Description of Work: Our new house was remodeled without insulation in the attic, which did not make it extremely cold in the winter, but did make it very hot in the summer. Absolute Insulation drilled many three inch holes to fill, the very hard to reach attic, with insullation. They cleaned up after themselves and the holes are ready to be mudded and painted.

Fantastic. I hit send on the e-mail requesting a quote, and the phone rang just minutes later to set up an appointment. Both the estimator and the installers were on-time, friendly and very professional. I'll absolutely recommend AIS to all my friends and neighbors. Our only regret is that we waited this long (years) to add insulation to our attic. The difference was immediately apparent. On hot days, we used to ascend the stairs into the oppressive heat of the second floor. Yesterday, after they did the work, there was virtually no temperature difference between upstairs and downstairs. AND there's less noise coming in from outside!

The man who came out to do the estimate was fantastic and very thorough. He presented our options in practical terms, by telling us his minimum recommendations and giving us options up to what would be ideal. All of this was then emailed to us the next day on an itemized estimate. We were able to schedule an appointment within two weeks (probably even faster except for limitations on our schedule). Three men came out to install the insulation, and arrived within the one hour window we had been given. They were efficient, but took time to make sure that I agreed with what their work order said to do and that it matched up with the estimate. They also took time to tell and show me what their plan was and how long it would take. The whole job took about 3-4 hours, and then they took time to show me the finished work.
Description of Work: They installed insulation into our attic as well as into our crawl space. In order to get into the crawl space they had to cut a hole into the wall.

Contacted Absolute Insulation with good responsiveness in terms of estimate. Appreciated estimator's honesty with me re: questions about installing Icynene (sp?) and reasons as to why this was not a necessary measure when insulating our home. Once we made a decision to go ahead with the job, the work was done promptly and efficiently. One caveat to the work was my inquiry to the insulation team regarding protecting our recessed lights with cones. MOST of the lights were appropriately addressed with cones to protect our non-IC (insulated ceiling) rated lights. However (and I specifically asked about this matter) there were non-IC rated lights that were under a walk space, I asked if these were going to be addressed in terms of not blowing insulation around them or placing cones around them. I was told that this wasn't able to be addressed as the blown in cellulose was going to surround the lights. As expected, now when we leave these lights on for more than several minutes they begin to "wink" out as they overheat (as these non-IC rated lights should). I callled Absolute Insulation and, in all fairness, did have an appointment scheduled to have this addressed. Given a highly variable work schedule, had to reschedule the work. Another appointment was scheduled and had to be rescheduled (by me) as well. At that time I was told by the company that I should try to complete the work myself?!? I don't really the time nor do I have any experience in addressing such matters and, while I don't think this is technically difficult, I just felt that perhaps more should have been done on the part of Absolute to help me address this problem rather than having me try and do it myself. At some point I will have to try and address this matter but would certainly have had given much higher marks, just a bit of a disappointing end to an otherwise positive experience. I think I may use this company again if they were more responsive to my requests.

Knowledgeable, courteous, reliable, no-nonsense people. Know their product and others and are happy to recommend other products instead of theirs if they think that is more appropriate for your home. Would use again.
Description of Work: The company determined how much, what kind, and where insulation should be blown into an existing house and then installed the insulation. The company gave me information about various types of insulation by giving me links to the Department of Energy's website and to various insulation manufacturers' websites. The company also determined by looking at builders' pictures if what I had already in my walls met code.

Very well. The owner estimator met me at the house during my lunch hour from work. He carefully explained exactly what would be done and advised us that we had an approximately 13 RF value. He recommended an RF value of 55. We went for it and he gave us a 100.00 deduction with detailed estimate since we found the company through Angies list. Through the office, we were required to pay for 50% of the job before start and accepted a credit card number and they gave us a definite date and time when the job would be done, along with the foreman's name. My wife advised all the workers were very nice and professional. The company mailed us receipts and proof payment estimate sheets before and after the job was completed. The attic insulation is now so thick and there are no more bare spots. Already it appears our furnace is not running as much as before. Nothing was damaged in the house.

Excellent. Team showed up on time, work went as planned. Very thorough, polite, and professional. I asked for and received all labels from the insulation material used. The team team put down runners to keep floors clean and then vacuumed when they were done. An observation - the insulation has made a dramatic difference in my daughters room which is in the attic/roof area. The house had been built in 1953 and we discovered that no new insulation had been installed since then. Her rooms were very cold in winter and hot in summer. Her rooms are now very comfortable, even during the Jan 2009 very cold periods. The cellulose worked as advertised. We are very pleased.

We had a condensation problem on our ceiling near the eaves area where a new wall meets a new ceiling. We discovered that no matter what we did the new batt insulation (installed incorrectly) was not adequate enough to stop condensation from forming. (We had a pipe burst in the attic-pipe is now gone) After reading all the reviews on Angie's we called Absolute for a quote. My husband was at home to handle the appointment but Dave also called me to reassure me what the procedure was. I liked that. The work was scheduled for the end of December, but after emailing Debbie to let her know if there were cancellations we would be interested, as we didn't want the new ceiling to get damaged. Lo and behold, an opening came up and the work was done weeks earlier. George and his crew arrived in the morning and we took him to our trouble spot and he explained what he could do to solve it, if it was only in the attic area and not behind the wall. Both my husband and I were there and we peppered him with questions at times and he was very responsive. They cleaned everything up and did a terrific job. This was done on December 3 and for 3-4 weeks now no condensation. For the first several weeks we did get some small spots, but that was due to the insulation settling. Now it has been dry since then. Our heating has not been going on as often as before either. We had so little insulation to begin with. It has made a difference in comfort, as Dave said it would. It also looks so much neater up there as well. They placed some batts above the blown to stop it from coming down the ladder and near the area we use for luggage storage. Our house has a very low slanting roof so it was not an easy job.

Called and requested an estimate to see if any additional insulation was needed in our attic. A representative came out and assessed our need of additional insulation and explained completely what the company uses and why. He answered all my questions to my satisfaction. An estimate was e-mailed to me in just a couple of days, it was much less than I had expected. I called to make an appt. On the day of the appt. they called to say they had a cancellation and would be able to come out earlier if convenient for me, which it was. A crew of two came out to complete the job that required adding additional insulation. They worked very well as a team and the work was completed in about 2 hours. They were very friendly and personable and cleaned up completely after they were finished. I was very impressed with their efficient work and they were very nice. I highly recommend them.
