I wrote this review a year ago but did not post it because their receptionist said they were getting organized. I decided to give them time to do that. However, after another poor service call this year I decided to post reviews for both service calls (2014 and 2015). --------------------------------------- I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal coupon for $99 for gutter cleaning and roof cleaning and inspection. After I purchased their service contract, my appointment was rescheduled twice because of weather. The day of my service, the technician, Dave, arrived early. I heard noises on my roof and went outside to find him already on the roof and cleaning the gutters, which surprised me. He inspected my roof and cleaned my gutters and gave me an assessment of their condition. He said the roof is fine for now, but will need to be replaced within two years. He took photos of my roof and said he would email them to me. He also suggested that they install new gutter guards. He gave me written estimates for a roof and for the gutter guards. I asked him to send me information about both services ? materials used, methods of installation, warranties, etc. ? and he said he would. I sent an email that evening requesting that information and the photos, providing him with a written request. The following week Dave called me to schedule installation of gutter guards and I asked him if he had seen my email. He said he had not ? they don?t check email often ? so I told him to look for my email and reminded him about what I was waiting for (the photos and information on the two services). He said he would get back to me. In June, I realized that I still had not heard from him, so I sent another email requesting the photos and information. Another week went by and I have not heard from them. The gutter cleaning service was fine, but I don?t think I would hire them again since they have such poor communication and follow up.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal coupon for $75 for gutter cleaning and also asked that they re-align my front gutter, which is tilted away from the downspout. Although she said I did not need to be home when they cleaned the gutters, I let her know that I wanted to be there to discuss the additional work. Amy called the morning of my appointment to let me know they would need to reschedule because of an emergency roof repair they had that day. Amy called back and asked if the next Saturday would work for me. I agreed and Amy called the day before to let me know that the service would be performed between noon and 5:00 pm. She also said the technician would call me a half hour before his arrival. The day of my service, I waited until 5:00 and no one ever called or showed up. I called and left a message letting them know that no one had shown up and since this is the second year that I?ve had problems with them, I intend to cancel my service. I had a poor experience with them last year, but their receptionist told me that they were getting organized. I hoped that by now their communication and scheduling would have improved. Apparently not. I won't use them again.

I was not home at the time of the service so they were unsupervised. They completed the work but left behind a mess in my courtyard and backyard from the debris they removed from the gutters. I had pressure washed the house, courtyard and backyard patio two weeks prior. It doesn't look like I had with all the debris on the ground and on the house. I am very unhappy about this and will not use this vendor again.

Not impressed; poor overall experience. Bought Amazon coupon, and during December 2014, made appointments and cancelled 3-4 times. OK, it's the winter, and this is not critical. Gutter cleaning was needed because of Fall leaves dropping Nov/Dec, and wanted to have cleaning for snow thawing on roof in Jan/Feb. 2 guys finally showed up after New Years for gutter cleaning - 1 worker and 1 "estimator." (1) Gutter cleaning -- about 15 minutes, basically either vacuuming or blowing off. When I asked about cleaning the downspout elbows, the estimator said it wasn't necessary or helpful - ask any expert, and he/she tell you clogged downspouts are common, and backs up water to the gutters. With that comment, I didn't trust what he would say next, and knew this cleaning was a half-fast job. My prior cleaner cleaned gutters by vacuuming - - it's not enough; elbows have to be cleared, and vacuuming doesn't pick up enough debris - - that's why I dropped my prior even though they were among the cheapest. (2) Estimates of roof repairs -- $4,300 for re-build my chimney above the roof, and $1,000+ to remove & install wood facia. The wood facia estimate is good, but I just didn't trust them, based on gutter cleaning and what I saw about the Chimney. My chimney has substantial mortar deterioration, but I was very skeptical about "shifting" requiring a rebuild - Medicare has fraudulent "unnecessary service" to pad income to doctors, and I felt this was the case. Quite frankly, shifting may be a correct diagnosis but the pictures he provided didn't clearly demonstrate, and he expects me to say "yes" to $4,300 of work without good evidence or a 2nd inspection. Like many other posters, they emailed a month later a deal to discount by 25% -- a contractors who do that is a warning sign - - good ones have so much work they can't keep up. When they give a price discount (and hard sell you, "the price is valid for today only') it is a warning sign. You're not buying clothes where the margin is high - - this should be labor & materials plus 25% for the owner -- the estimator gets a commission for every sold job (and probably a charge back if he estimates low) - - don't let friendliness fool you; it means he is well trained; but with a little knowledge you can detect if something just isn't right. Basically, they are quoting dozens of jobs, and hoping for a 10% acceptance from homeowners who can't determine is the job should be mortar repointing job or a "full rebuild".

They have very poor services. I?ve had to reschedule with them about 10 times, they will not do the work. Every time I schedule with them they make excuses as to why they cannot do the work

On the rear side of my house, the roof gutter over my walk-up basement had significant overspill during heaving rain that lead to water getting into my basement under the door seal. This happened about 3 weeks ago and I received the Angie's List offer for a gutter cleaning w/J&E and I bought it. The earliest appointment I could initially get wasn't until June 2015 and I was afraid there would be more heavy rains before then. I stayed in touch with J&E thru Angie's List to try to move up my June appointment and they contacted me last week and said there was a cancellation that would allow my service to be performed last Thurs (7-May). The J&E folks arrived on schedule and went right to work. Once up on the ladder, the technicians found significant accumulation of organic debris in that end of the gutter rendering it incapable of channeling water properly (leading to the overspill I was experiencing). They used a blower to force debris off the entire roof and cleared all of the gutters. It hasn't rained since this service but I'm confident the gutter will perform properly and my basement will not be infiltrated with water. I would hire J &E Home Services in the future.

It didn't go well. We paid for the service to have our gutters cleaned. It was one of Angie's lists "big deals". They scheduled the service and were very professional. They cancelled due to rain. They rescheduled, and cancelled due to rain. They rescheduled, and cancelled due to being short staffed. They always called the day before and then we would get a new date a few weeks later. We bought this in February, and by late April when my gutters hadn't been cleaned, I called the company. I never received a call back. I finally called Angie's list asking if I could just get my money back or get another company to do the service. Once I spoke with Angies list and found out my options, I called J&E Home Services and told them I just wanted to cancel my gutter cleaning. I told them I had asked Angies list to help me find another company. Still no call back. When you call this company, you never get a live person, it is always a machine. Makes it very difficult to resolve issues.

The provider showed up on time and did a thorough job of the cleaning and inspection. I kept a copy of the inspection report and the work he said needed to be done, and checked the repair proposal with two other companies. The report was accurate. The inspection provider did not get the repair contract -- it was the mid-range bidder, not the low bidder -- but I am satisfied with the work done and the professionalism of the workmen.

A bit difficult to schedule but the work was good, they cleaned up and made us aware of other roof issues

I'm still having some problems with the gutters and my service has been rescheduled a couple of times so looking for another company. Oh, and they stopped doing power washing which was another service I wanted to take advantage of!

J&E was a good company to work with. About a week after we received the initial estimate, they offered a 25% discount on our work. We took their offer, and then added additional work we wanted done. The office person was professional and responded quickly. There were a couple of times we couldn't reach their office, but we left our contact information and they responded within a day or two. Due to the winter weather, work contracted in February was not completed until April. Not surprisingly we had to be rescheduled a few times due to snow or rain. Our only frustration was that the workers told us on a Friday that they had not been able to complete the work that day, and that they would return by noon on Saturday. On Saturday they called to say the truck had broken down, so they would be there on Sunday. We didn't hear anything until Monday when the office called to say that they would complete the work on Tuesday, which they did. The workers that came to our home were professional and all debris was cleared away. The work was quality. We were very happy with the experience.

We were very happy with the roof inspection and they gave us good information on what to get done. The estimate for future repairs was a little high though.

They came out on time as promised. We had a billing mistake but they immediately corrected it without any hassle. Job was performed as promised and done very professionally. I would recommend this company and would use them again in the future.

J&E Home Services, at least in the roofing department, was unable to reschedule appointments following cancellations in a manner that could be considered timely or professional. Recognizing that carrying out the service (roofing) is contingent upon the weather, they were unable to pivot and make up the work quickly when the inevitable rain day fell; instead, they asked that I wait weeks until they could get someone out to my area again. This happened two times. The third time they took the initiative to cancel my appointment a few days prior because they said they were down a technician. I notice they continue to advertise for new deals in the meantime.

Workers showed up on time and were very efficient and thorough. Cleaned the chimney and then went up on the roof and did a chimney inspection. I was very satisfied with their work. Only suggestion is that they consider wearing shoe booties over their shoes when in the house as I have a light beige carpet and I was concerned with it getting soiled. Other than that, I am very satisfied with the work performed and I will use them again in the future.

For both jobs the technicians arrived on time. I was concerned with taking time off, but they said that we did not need to be home for them to do the work. After the gutter cleaning they sent a detailed report with pictures of the issues with the roof. Scheduling the roof repair was easy, and again, they arrived on time and really didn't need anyone to be home. Work was handled in a professional manner and they tidied up when they were done. I am very satisfied with the work that they performed.

The service provider has called to cancel and reschedule four times, so I am requesting a refund.

I purchased this service at the end of Feb, I want to say the 25th. It was originally scheduled for March 18th. I felt like that was a long time to wait, but said ok. Then something happened and they rescheduled for April 4. Then something happened and they rescheduled for April 11. Then the guy didn't show up and they called to reschedule again. I said no and will be requesting a refund through Angie's list. The worst part about it is the lady who called, each time, made it seem like it was no big deal. No real apologies for the multiple cancellations and no shows. She actually corrected me once about the number of reschedules like it was supposed to make it better. It seems like if they contact you within 48 hours then they should be able to perform the service soon thereafter. Almost 2 months later and nothing. Wouldn't try to use again and certainly not recommend to anyone.

Was not able to provide service before my inspection date. Therefore I had to get someone else to come in and do the job.

Originally scheduled for Mid-December, work was finally completed in February. Some of it I hold the company accountable for, some of it was weather. The first missed appointments was due to them running late and not being able to make it by dark. Which is fine, except that they couldn't reschedule for another 3 weeks. The second one, the foreman called to say he was on the way to our property and never showed. A week later, the office called to ask whether the work had ever been done, because they just had to fire the foreman. The next three reschedulings were due to bad weather. Each time I received a pleasant phone call from the office apologizing and informing me that the weather would prevent them from performing the service and giving me my new date. Eventually, the work was done, hassle-free.

J&E performed the gutter cleaning. Service was ok, gutters are clean and functioning properly. It was very difficult to schedule the gutter cleaning. J&E scheduled and rescheduled the service 8 times for a variety of reasons, which was a bit frustrating. The scheduler was very pleasant, however, and did contact me each time an appointment would be missed. Beyond scheduling, my only disappointment was that a lot of debris from the gutters was simply tossed on the ground or impacted the side of the house. Not all of it, but enough that window sills and patios were noticeably dirty from gutter debris. Overall, it was a $99 gutter cleaning which was a good price for the service. But, given the scheduling difficulties and unfinished clean-up, I will probably try a different provider in the future.
