I purchased this Angie's deal back in February for $300 worth of masonry services for $99. After purchasing this deal with J&E Services, I immediately tried to get the service scheduled. After many, many unreturned messages left, as well as a call back to Angie's list to get a refund, I finally got a return call. This took 3 months to finally get someone to return my call and schedule an appointment to come and give an estimate. This appointment got rescheduled 3 times as well. We FINALLY get the estimate and schedule the work. In the meantime I was coordinating with Audrey in J&E Services front office to arrange financing options.After several phone calls and messages left to arrange financing and/or deposit payment, I finally got someone on the phone today, only to be told that since I had not paid the deposit, the same one mind you that the office staff was supposed to call back and take over the phone, that they had in fact double booked the appointment date which is in 2 days and are now not honoring the service date. Their answer is to reschedule again for next month. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional, disorganized, poorly run outfit like this before. If this is the only contractor available for your job, Save yourself a lot of grief and select someone else.

Was not home, but provider left "proof" of work next to downspouts so i could see all the "stuff" removed. It wasn't a lot of stuff, but enough to clog a downspout. That was a good thing because it verified that I needed gutters cleaned.

Never showed up or canceled six times.No one ever in office to answer calls or let you know status of service calls.Last time I tried to get in touch with them them the mailbox was full and would not take messages.Buyer be very beware.

Appointment for gutter cleaning was scheduled 1 month out which was way too late. I gave the company 3 dates as far out as 2 weeks. The only alternative date they gave was even later than 1 month! I had to getanother provider to clean the gutters considering this unusually rainy summer.

This is pretty much a scam....you buy something from them and they don't support what they sell. The only service provided was to come out and give me an estimate for five times what I wanted. They scheduled five different times and did not show up for anything except the estimate. I am not sure how Angie's list can stand this kind of performance.

I got quotes from 3 different companies. They were the most competitive and honest. They showed up on time and finished the work the same day. I would use them again.

Twice they were scheduled: the first time they did call the day before to re-schedule, so we rescheduled. They called the night before the second appointment to confirm that they would be here between 9-12, by 12:30 they had not shown up or called, so I called and left a message, by 1:30 I called again and they told me they would not be coming and would have to reschedule. Not acceptable.

The inspection went fine. However, they found a wide array of things that need fixing. To us, non-professionals, they seemed minor and cosmetic and prohibitively expensive. The results included a new crown, new mortar and fire box crack fixes. The total was 1100. A few months later, we were contacted with a discounted offer - which we appreciated, but it still out of our price range considering that it would not fix our main concern (back draft). The provider was friendly and helpful and did not push additional services. He provided pictures of issues. Pleased with the experience overall.

I have been trying to schedule the gutter cleaning since February. The cleaning had to be rescheduled numerous times which was very frustrating as my gutters were very clogged. Although I stated I would use the provider again, it will not be an easy decision and could go either way.

I bought an Angie's deal to have J&E Service come out to clean my chimney and I added on a dryer vent cleaning. Office staff was polite on the phone but had difficulty scheduling for the times I indicated when I signed up. The first 2 appointment where cancelled because of weather. The said they had to go on the roof. On the third appointment I received a call from the office at the time they were suppose to have arrived saying they had had to fire the technician that day. On the fourth appointment which they had to schedule on a Sunday they never showed up. I got a call from the technician at 8:30pm saying he wouldn't be coming. I contacted J&E services and left a message saying I was cancelling and why. They never responded back. When I contacted Angie's list to a refund they said they could not refund my money because it was beyond the 30 day window even though it was not my fault the service was not refunded within the 30 days. They said I had to buy another service (which cost more money) before they would give me a refund. A bad experience using Angie's' deals altogether.

It took weeks to schedule the service as they kept canceling for one reason or another. Not a big deal because it was outside and I did not need to be home when service was performed. Once completed they sent via e-mail a summary of the work, which included resealing the chimney flashing and reseating a few popped nails, and reporting my roof was in good condition. Curiously the edge shingle that came off my roof several months ago was still lying on the ground and the roof underlay still exposed. They either missed this obvious issue (also visible from the ground) or did not care.

Badly. I requested a date according to the instructions. The provider indicated they could do it a month after my desired date. I requested that they clean the gutters within a week. I never heard from the provider again. I don't understand how a non responsive company can have so many "F" reviews and still get an "A" overall.

this provider was highly recommended on angie's list for gutter cleaning. i contacted the provider thru angie's list and a date was set for june 4. but the day before , the provider called and said that they were running behind because of rain and that i needed to be rescheduled for june 13. i said "okay". on june 13, we hung around the house but the provider neither showed up nor called. this morning the provider called to say that they could reschedule for the 24th. i asked why no one called on saturday. no answer to that question. i asked if i didnt deserve a speedier reschedule in light of the two misses including one without a phone call. they said "no". i said..."good by".

I was able to schedule via email and they followed up the day before, showed up and did the cleaning and I didn't even have to be home. I will use them again next year.

Today was the third appointment they failed to keep. Their office was conscientious about calling with a reminder the day before each of the appointments so there was no question that I was on their schedule. I was understanding the first 2 times ("got behind at current job") but today was the final straw. I've missed 2 half days of work and one half of a Saturday trying to get this done. I want a refund on the $99 coupon I purchased.

It went great. They were here on time did what was expected. They used a gas leaf blower to blow out the dryer vent so the house smelled of gas for a while but it was effective. It just seems that the gutter cleaning and repair could have been a combined deal for less since they were up there anyway. But I would certainly use them again!

Great attitude. Very efficient. Will use them in the future.

I scheduled for late May. Due to "weather" they rescheduled for mid June. The day before the service they called to reschedule again because they let a crew go. I cancelled and will do the gutters myself. I can't recommend these fly by night losers.

The only minor issue was that the service date was out a few weeks from the initial call because they were pretty busy. But they were good about staying in contact, including confirmation calls and such. Service had to be rescheduled because of rain, but they fit me in for the following Saturday. Service was professional, and they were good about not making a mess with the gutter debris.

I never received this service.

(1) Gutter Cleaning - Not impressed; poor overall experience.Bought Amazon coupon, and during December 2014, made appointments and cancelled 3-4 times. OK, it's the winter, and this is not critical. Gutter cleaning was needed because of Fall leaves dropping Nov/Dec, and wanted to have cleaning for snow thawing on roof in Jan/Feb.2 guys finally showed up after New Years for gutter cleaning - 1 worker and 1 "estimator."(1) Gutter cleaning -- about 15 minutes, basically either vacuuming or blowing off. When I asked about cleaning the downspout elbows, the estimator said it wasn't necessary or helpful (the coupon said "snaking of downspouts") - ask any expert, and he/she tell you clogged downspouts are common, and backs up water to the gutters. With that comment, I didn't trust what he would say next, and knew this cleaning was a half-fast job. My prior cleaner cleaned gutters by vacuuming - - it's not enough; elbows have to be cleared, and vacuuming doesn't pick up enough debris - - that's why I dropped my prior even though they were among the cheapest. (2) Estimates of roof repairs -- $4,300 for re-build my chimney above the roof, and $1,000+ to remove & install wood fascia. The wood fascia estimate is good, but I just didn't trust them, based on gutter cleaning and what I saw about the Chimney.My chimney has substantial mortar deterioration, but I was very skeptical about "shifting" requiring a rebuild - Medicare has fraudulent "unnecessary service" to pad income to doctors, and I felt this was the case. Quite frankly, shifting may be a correct diagnosis but the pictures he provided didn't clearly demonstrate, and he expects me to say "yes" to $4,300 of work without good evidence or a 2nd inspection. Like many other posters, they emailed a month later a deal to discount by 25% -- a contractors who do that is a warning sign - - good ones have so much work they can't keep up. When they give a price discount (and hard sell you, "the price is valid for today only') it is a warning sign. You're not buying clothes where the margin is high - - this should be labor & materials plus 25% for the owner -- the estimator gets a commission for every sold job (and probably a charge back if he estimates low) - - don't let friendliness fool you; it means he is well trained; but with a little knowledge you can detect if something just isn't right. Basically, they are quoting dozens of jobs, and hoping for a 10% acceptance from homeowners who can't determine is the job should be mortar repointing job or a "full rebuild".

There were some issues with scheduling as it took four attempts before they were finally able to come out. They came out and did the work but then it rained and I noticed there was rushing water off the house. My neighbor happened to have a contractor at their house so I asked him to take a look at the gutters. He found they had missed one side of the gutters on the house. I reached out to J & E Home Services to let them know and they were very apologetic and did their best to rectify the situation. Some of the issues were out of J & E’s control and I appreciated their professionalism and willingness to work to rectify the situation.

They went and looked at them and left me some pictures. They said recommendations for some small repairs. I said I would do the small ones but couldn't afford; like they wanted $600 or something which seemed a little outrageous for gutters. It was just for the $99.

The actual service provided was fine and I have no complaints as to the quality. The mason left our old chimney cap on our front porch, so we were confused as to whether work had been completed, but he said he left it because it was still in good condition and could be used, but that he replaced it because the quote said to install stainless steel caps. If the cap was in good condition, I am not sure why the quote given suggested we replace it. Our biggest issue was communication and scheduling - we purchased the deal in late March and did not hear from the provider until we complained to Angie's List. We then had our estimate rescheduled three times. The actual services were performed on time - in fact, the mason came a day early. There was confusion over when and whether work was completed - the service providers knew where they were going when, but the office staff seemed confused. The chimney cap was left on our front porch with no explanation, and the boxes that were left in the garage as trash actually dislodged out garage door sensor such that the door stopped working. When we called to ask why the cap had been left and to confirm whether work was complete, again, no one knew without checking with other people. I think they did a good job assessing our needs and completing the repairs.

Very good experience. No pressure to do more than what was needed. I knew I had a few shingles missing so I took advantage of an Angie discount offer. The two men who came from J&E Home Services quickly assessed what was needed, but also took pictures of two vent pipes on our roof. The pictures clearly showed wear and tear on the existing pipe collars. They said the repair could be done quickly and gave me a reasonable-to-me price. I agreed to the price quote for the shingle replacements and pipe collar replacements and they came back the next day to do the work. I will use them again in the future for any such work.
