Description of Work: They came on the day appointed and did the work, I assume. It is hard to judge its quality, as no one gave me a report on what they found and what they did. I saw their truck outside and heard hammering on the gutters. They never knocked on the door or left a report. I thought they would, but when I looked out again, they were gone, and I never heard from them.

Description of Work: J&S Service kept postponing work until it was past the 30-day refund limit. When the technician did show up, he departed without doing any of work stipulated in the offer and used the excuse that no one was home. The tech supposedly returned, but I had already departed since I had already lost 4 hours of leave time. I lost $75.00 (offer) and 4-hours of personal leave ($60/hr) to be present for a total of ~$315.00. Angie's List refuses to reimburse me the $75.00 since it is past the 30-day limit. Throughout the 2 months that I was trying to get this work done, I called J&S numerous times and they seldom answered the phone or returned my calls. Approx Cost: 75.00

Description of Work: 1) Basement--Reseal 3 small basement windows from the inside on 3 sides by cleaning out old mortar and resealing with new mortar (each 22.5" x 32.5"). |2) Patio--Labor Only...All Building Materials Provided by Homeowner--Extend backyard patio using concrete pavers (approx. 90 sq.ft.). Excavate area, lay Base 1 & Base 2 material, landscape fabric, paver edging and 16" x 16" concrete paving stones. | |I took advantage of an Angie's List promo, getting $300 worth of work for $99. The work was initially scheduled to start May 6th and scheduled to take 17 hours total between the two projects. The work finally started on May 23rd and wasn't completed until June 8th. There were 4 postponements and 3 cancellations. While some of the postponements/cancellations may have been weather related on the outside work. Weather had nothing to do with completing the basement work. The office never bothered to inform me of the cancellations. When I called the office to check what was going on, I never got a live person answering, only a voice-mail message. Sometimes they would respond hours later, sometimes not at all. I finally just gave up leaving voice messages. Sadly, the worse level I have ever experienced regarding customer service and responsiveness from a contractor. | |I felt badly for the technician who preformed the worked. He worked alone on a job that clearly required two workers. He did his best and did a good job, considering the obvious lack of company support provided him; additionally, he had to use his personal auto, rather than a dedicated company vehicle, to carry mortar, tools, etc. Fortunately, I owned many of the additional tools he needed to complete the patio project. One final note, the office wasted little time calling me in order to collect the balance due, when the job was finally completed. They were very punctual and responsive in that specific area! | |In summary, based on my recent experience, J & E Home Services is very unprofessional. I will never use them again for any home project.

Description of Work: After several rescheduled attempts by them. Finally came out and gave overpriced estimate. Then were less than helpful when tried to at least get them to fulfill the coupon deal. Finally just gave up. Never heard from them again. Waste of $99 !!

Description of Work: We purchased the gutter cleaning service from a special that they were offering. However, the response time for handling scheduling (via phone and email) was Within 48 hours and they were always very courteous. We bought this coupon in January/February and had to reschedule the cleaning four times, another reason why I rated the responsiveness a B. Twice due to weather and once due to short-staffing. The crew that turned up was very quick. They took 15-20 minutes whereas I have had one sole contractor take an hour or so. Left some debris on our grounds but that was manageable. They also provided a roof inspection and proposal of services afterwards (unsolicited and complimentary).

Description of Work: After paying $199 for a House Maintenance Inspection (involved walking around the house for 15 minutes)that I thought went toward anything that needed to be done. They found some loose joints in my brick and did credit me $100 toward the $480 bill. The work was cancelled 3 times and when finally done the people that did it were excellent. It was always hard to get them on the phone.

Description of Work: J&E cleaned and inspected my gutters, cleaned my dryer vent, and gave recommendations for future work. After they were unable to make the originally scheduled time due to an illness, they proactively worked to reschedule the service. I will definitely use them in the future.

Description of Work: They fixed the flashing on our chimney. Came out and inspected it and deducted the certificate from our bottom line. The repairs have held up thus far, and that includes a relatively rough winter. We would use them again!

Description of Work: the roofer worked carefully and seems to have done a good job. But the one or two day job took four or five days to complete and the roofer showed up late several times. They also failed to detect a problem on another part of the roof that had to be fixed just a few weeks later. |

Description of Work: Resurfaced steps. I was very dissatisfied with the quality of work. Called them to fix problems and they did the very minimum to satisfy the estimate.

Description of Work: I know that this is a very popular deal and J & E tried to work with me, bumping the schedule date up from May 28th to May 20th but since we just bought the house and have noticed some major issues with the gutters when it rains, my husband decided not to wait and to go up on the roof and clean them himself. I can say that the Customer Service I have received up until this point has been excellent as has the communication. I would not hesitate to call J & E Home Services or use another Angie's List coupon for their services.

Description of Work: J&E Home Services showed up to the house at 8:00am unannounced and banged very loud on the door for 5 minutes. The appointment with the contractor was in the afternoon, but the contractor said oh well... They were not nice about trying to reschedule, so I am looking to get a refund.

Description of Work: They rebuilt the top half of the Chimney, and crown, and the lower half where the bricks have become loose over time due to weather conditions. The stability of the chimney is now safe and sound, along with the brick window sills that had to be re-mortared.

Description of Work: It took over five weeks for the company to schedule a date (I insisted on being there) to see what work needed to be done.(I am available EVERY DAY IN THE MORNING). Amy said there was nothing available until May and finally said that they could only come on May 12 and that the time was set the day before. I reiterated it could only be in the morning. I was not notified on May 11 of the time. Amy called on May 12 (today) and left a voice mail message at 12:08pm today saying they would come at 6pm. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. NO ONE IS AVAILABLE IN THE EVENING. I have therefore requested a refund and apprised the company of such via Angie's List email.
