Description of Work: I hired Finest Chimney with discount voucher on Angie's list. They contacted me immediately to make an appointment; they were flexible to accommodate my schedule. They were punctual, professional and very clean. They pointed bricks on two sides of the house. I highly recommend them and would hire them again.

Description of Work: They appeared to have done a nice job cleaning the chimney, but they indicated I needed to have the crown re-built by them for around $350 or $450. I had a handy-man doing work and one of the things I asked him to do is to rebuild the crown. He indicated that there was nothing wrong with the crown and that there was a small crack that he caulked that should be good now for a long time.

Description of Work: I used the Angies List deal of $149 for $300 worth of brick repointing on the side of the house, where a lot of our mortar had cracked or pitted. The $300 was subtracted from the estimate. A team showed up on time on the day appointed and worked until dark to finish it. They ran out of some supplies or equipment during the day and had to wait for replacements, which extended the time, but they stayed until it was done. They were very thorough in cleaning out the old mortar and powerwashing the affected area. The only downside was that although they said the new mortar color would be "close, but probably won't match exactly," in fact the finished mortar color was quite a lot darker -- noticeably so -- than the original. But the wall seems to be much more structurally intact.

Description of Work: Jamie's team partially deconstructed my chimney and rebuilt it. Jamie also replaced my glass door set on the inside. the crew was professional and did an amazing job of making the rebuild look like the original. Even going to the effort of going to more than one place to get the different color bricks needed to match up with the original. They did a great job on cleanup.

+ -1 moreJaime was very responsive on phone. He scheduled me on a weekend on short notice and showed up on time. He and his crew were polite, clean, and respectful. Prep work ensured no damage to furnishings around the fireplace. During the cleaning, they even found junk left from the last cleaning (glad I didn't call that guy again!). He explained each step, and even problem solved my lack of knowledge on the ashes and ash disposal (without being condescending). In addition, he provided a thorough inspection, showing me what was fine (thankfully the expensive stuff!) and what needed repair...even showing me from the roof where the water damage was, and what my options were. Without pushing, he gave me a fair estimate for the needed repairs and did not act upset when I said I wanted some time to think about the needed work/price. In summary, a perfect experience, and I highly recommend this company.

+ 0 moreDon't let the owner's youthful appearance fool you; he knows permits, codes, safety, and his craft. Our chimney was separating from the house (result of last year's earthquake) by millimeters, but it was a safety issue. He explored alternatives with us, and re-build was the best, safe option. His estimate came in lower than two others. The crew worked steadily, used bricks that were a virtual match, and the owner paused to answer any questions that we posed. This is a several-day, messy job, but the crew spent two half-days cleaning debris, raking, inspecting, and cleaning some more. All A's. Finest Chimney has our unqualified recommendation.
