Dunn's Chimney Sweep & Dryer Vent Service

They were professional and courteous. They were excellent and they got it done fast. They gave us before pictures and then told us what they would do and then gave us after photos for our file. It was perfect. They showed up when they said they would. There was one time when he knew he couldn't make it due to a funeral and he called in advance and let me know and explained it. Then they followed up when they said they would. All the workers were excellent. We lost the invoice and we were having problems with our fax machine. He tried tirelessly for 20 minutes until we got it and then called back and waited until we got everything online. He was good, not only in being patient with us but making sure we had it within half an hour of when we requested it. We thought it was exceptional. We had researched and we thought his price was very reasonable. We tried to have them do other work but they let us know the limits of what they are able to do which we thought was excellent.

Melvin Dunn and his team are professional, prompt, and reasonably priced. When we had a question about our chimney, he came out on a rainy Saturday and went up on the roof to investigate. Highly recommend.

Melvin Dunn was terrific. His got his two employees going on cleaning our dryer vent - which involves extra long snaking - while he checked our main chimney, wood stove and wood stove chimney. He also taught us to work our old Sierra wood stove, which we hadn't ever used, but wanted to be able to in case the electric heat goes out. I asked a lot of questions about using the wood stove, and he was patient and had a good sense of humor as he demonstrated to my husband and me how to build a wood stove fire without smoking yourself out of the house. Just a super nice and honest guy. Some chimney sweeps make money selling unneeded liners or cleaning chimneys more often than necessary. He told us ours did not need cleaning this year. Mr. Dunn removed his shoes before coming inside, and before teaching us to use the stove, vacuumed because my husband had opened the stove door and ashes had fallen out. He was very polite, calling us sir and ma'am, and I asked if he had been in the military. His response? and quot;No, I'm from Tennessee.and quot; : ) Three people for the dryer vent, two chimneys and a wood stove101 lesson for $120 seemed awfully low so we added some $$ as a thank you. First rate.

My experience actually worked very well. Their work was very quick. The problem was that birds were nesting in my dryers because the cover fell off. It was springtime and all of a sudden I just realized that there was an opening in there, so they had started nesting and I was kind of afraid to even do my Dryer. I don't know, that was like, you know there were babies in there on the spinners. So I called them and they gave me an appointment for the next day. He came in and he took care of it. He was very good, very professional and cleaned up with no mess at all. And I have also recommended them to my neighbor.

Angie's list continues to amaze us. We are so happy to have found Mr. Dunn's service. We burn 2 to 3 cords of wood per year and want to be sure we can do so safely. Mr. Dunn and his crew demonstrated a high level of proficiecy, courtesy, and honesty, which is consistent with our experiences with all of the other contractors we have hired by consulting Angie's list. Mr. Dunn made certain that not only were the repairs and cleaning performed properly, but that his crew left the site neat and tidy (with zero damage). We have expensive gutters, so Mr. Dunn found an alternate way for his crew to reach our 3+ story chimney top. We would definitely hire Dunn's Chimney Sweep in the future.

Although it took me a couple of days to firm up the appointment, Melvin Dunn and his crew arrived on time. I needed the dryer vent to be cleaned from the inside, so they came up to my apartment. They ultimately needed to remove the dryer vent on the outside of my building, so that they could blow out the lint from the dryer vent. Melvin found that a previous contractor has not properly affixed the vent cover to the vent, so he replaced the clips. All in all, Melvin and his crew were very professional and very personable. I would not hesitate to recommend them. Call early, and be flexible, as they are very busy.

Dunn's was awesome! Inspected all of the chimney/flue liner, smoke shelf, damper and stove. Cleaned everything top to bottom. Advised on creosote build up and danger of fire and eliminated it. They did a great job cleaning up and no heavy dust/mess. The team was personable, polite and FAST, especially for an unknown length of time since last cleaning - read extremely dirty! Best part was I made the appointment via e-mail and confirmation of appointment in 3 hrs! Great folks! Prefer supporting local community businesses and NO UPSELL! Outstanding job! Well done Dunn's!

Melvin Dunn and his team of two additional workers arrived within the time window I was given. They immediately got to work cleaning the lint-clogged dryer vent which required getting a ladder up on the side of the house since our dryer is on the second floor. Mr. Dunn was exceedingly professional and wasted little time. I believe they were in and out in less 30 minutes or less. The laundry drying time was definitely reduced because of the better airflow and the chances of a lint fire greatly reduced. Dunn did a terrific job. I will use him again.

I was very satisfied. He was professional, competent, and extremely congenial. He was helpful in explaining things. He was very easy to work with and I was very pleased with the work he did.

We had a chimney sweep out in December because the cleanout door had rusted away. He diagnosed a cracked crown that was letting water into the chimney (causing the rust), and that the shoulders needed tuckpointing. We had several other folks out to do estimates before Dunn's was able to come (he's busy, as he deserves to be!). All made basically the same diagnosis, but Mr. Dunn provided the best explanation as to what was going on. He also took a digital picture of the crown and printed it on the spot, so I could see what he was talking about. Initial contact had been via email, as were negotiation of actual services and dates, and Mr. Dunn was as personable and coherent in email as he is in person. We agreed on price and a tentative date, weather permitting, for the repair. That day arrived cold and rainy, so I assumed I'd hear from him that they weren't coming. To my surprise, they showed up promptly as promised and said they would do the cleanout door that day, since that didn't involve any ladder work. The new door is nicer than the original, and looks great. The next day they came back and did the crown, tuckpointing, and even cleaned the brick, which had some discoloration from the runoff. The whole job looks great. When they left, he included two more digital photos of the crown: with the old crown removed and the new one installed. I should also note that when they arrived, he asked if it was OK for his van to be in the driveway (clearly desirable since that was closer to the worksite, and thus more convenient, although he didn't point that out). I asked how long they would be; he said and quot;A couple of hoursand quot;. I told him that it was fine, that we weren't going out until 1PM. The job wound up taking a bit longer than he'd anticipated, and at 1PM they weren't quite done. But when I went to leave, he had already moved his van out of the driveway! He said not to worry, that they were almost done and that he'd leave the pictures in our front door and email the receipt, which he did. It's rare in my experience for workmen to be this conscientious and thoughtful of the homeowner. I highly recommend Mr. Dunn in every way!

The metal cap on my chimney was rusted and beginning to stain the chimney itself. Melvin came out and measured the chimney and custom made a cap for the chimney. He is very professional and punctual and the chimney looks great.
