Concrete Jack is very responsive. They returned calls, they showed up on time, they arrived when scheduled, they finished on time, and the final result appeared to be just what we needed. For professionalism and responsiveness our experience was the best of all the services we've used. The only negative things I can say about the Concrete Jack service is that it is quite expensive and it is difficult to get a really solid estimate. There is not much you can do to reduce the cost like with other types of services, such as doing some of the labor yourself. The fee is based on the volume of filler required and the time & labor is included in that price. Any labor you contribute to make the area more accessible will not save you money. Any extras you remove from the job (like boring holes into a 3-ft thick concrete slab) will not save you money. The only thing that saves you money is to use less filler and depending upon your situation you may have absolutely no control over that. It may be impossible to get an accurate estimate on the amount of filler needed. We ended up owing an extra few hundred on the job after it was done due to the amount of filler beyond the estimated amount. Since we labored to move shrubs and dirt to make the area accessible it didn't seem fair to pay this extra cost, but the pricing is on volume. We have no way to confirm that the additional filler was or was not needed because it was impossible to get into the gap and measure every inch of it.
Description of Work: Filled a gap between the front porch concrete slab and the soil around the foundation where the soil had settled significantly.

I called back in about a month - ready to 'accompadate' them. They pulled up my record by address and said, "Are you able to make an appointment now?" I didn't know I was dealing with the Royal family..... Vanessa or Tiffany or Ashley took all my particulars and said someone would get back to me. Within 48 hours, I received an email telling me the scope of the job I described was not the size they 'travel' to do. Lots of double talk - translation - We've decided not to provide a on site or cost quote to you. I called the man who signed the email and it was clear that he was encouraged to his opinion and decision by the phone person. So unprofessional, unorganized and unbusiness like. I am pursuing have the entire patio pulled up and a new foundation and slabs laid. I thought I could save a lot of construction by having the existing slabs re-leveled but Concrete Jack apparently just talks a great service - and doesn't deliver
Description of Work: Tried to get a quote to repair a concrete patio that is out of level. According to their website, this company has a technique to re-level slabs that have become uneven. First they couldn't tell me when they would be in Wash, D.C. Couldn't make an appt until they had 'other calls' in the area - said it would be a few weeks and they would call me back. 2 days later, they called and wanted to come out 'right away'. I couldn't coordinate being available that quickly and told them I'd call back later. It's a call center operation and they were very high handed about 'how busy they are' and that 'we are a regional company that covers the entire eastern seaboard'. Not impressed.

Response from Concrete Jack
Ouch! We did have some trouble coordinating schedules to get into the customer's locked courtyard to check out her patio. As a result, our records show the customer sent in a few photos, and talked to an estimator who was looking at the photos by phone. By viewing the eight customer-supplied photos and speaking with her on the phone, we determined that none of our lifting processes would be the most appropriate or economical repair for the customer. It sounds like we should have communicated this more clearly. --Tiffany (the most awesome one-woman call center), and Kirk (the estimator who looked at the pictures).

It went very well. Concrete Jack performed as advertised.
Description of Work: Our basement was no longer level due to erosion and one corner was 4 inches lower than the others. We also had a front stoop that had settled and was lower than the original install. The crew arrived on time, finished the work ahead of schedule, and kept the job within the scope of their estimate. For the work that was accomplished, I was very pleased with the price.

Eric & Bob arrived on time, made sure I knew what they were going to do, drilled and filled the wood under the foundation, always checking on wall to meet ceiling. It went perfectly. They kept me informed, were very polite, left the basement clean. The entire job from start to finish was 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., same day. I could not be happier with the results.
Description of Work: During a new paint job of hallway, the painters discovered a 2 to 3 inch gap between ceiling and wall. Concrete Jack was hired to correct his. The solution was to use high density polyurethane and raising the basement floor. Lifted the floor and it evened the ceiling perfectly.

As the maintenance manager for a property management company, I have used Concrete Jack's numerous times for different properties. They always provide me with a reasonable estimate in a timely manner. They do great work and clean up after themselves. This time was no exception. The front porch at this property was starting to slope towards the house which allowed water to drain towards the house. They were very busy and had to schedule for three weeks out but it was not an emergency so that was fine with us and the tenants. Concrete Jack has made repairs to about six of our houses in the last year. Some front porches and some walkways and we have not had one complaint from any of the jobs. I highly recommend them.

I have been in my home about 23 years and a void had been created under my front concrete porch or stoop due to settling and erosion. Because we had been worried about water drainage into the void and the potential to come into our home or basement I wanted it filled but didn't want the porch raised. Concrete Jack sent out an estimator within a week or two and he estimated the price to be just exactly what I ended up paying $835. Concrete Jack operates out of a home office off Williamsburg VA and has crews that work all over the region. They scheduled me for a couple of weeks out. Crew consisting of a lead guy and a helper. The lead guy was extremely knowledgeable and obviously experienced in this kind of work (and did most of the work). He drilled 3 holes through my concrete porch to get to the void and pumped in the concrete material. It was a different color than normal concrete and he explained it was some sort of hard clay that hardens. This is quite an interest process to watch how they do it. My entire dealing with Concrete Jack was very systematic, very professional and they did a terrific job for a reasonable price. I did contact another (more local) firm that advertised similar work. They did not send an estimator our but gave me an estimate based on photos I sent them via email. Their estimate was quite higher. I thought Concrete Jack the better choice for price and because of their expertise. They explained they do work for the Virginia DOT and some very big jobs. I highly recommend them.

Concrete Jack really worked with our schedule. We had to go out of town for an extended period of time and even though their estimates usually are good for only 30 days, they agreed to the same amount 2 months later. The two men showed up right on time, went to work and didn't quit until the job was done. We were amazed (after seeing how many holes they ended up having to drill) with how well the sidewalk looked when they finished. You can't tell where the holes were! We expect this process to take care of the problem. If we have any problems, they do guarantee their work.
Description of Work: Our aggregate sidewalk up by our front porch has been slowly sinking. A feral cat had moved in last winter and the hole underneath the sidewalk was getting quite large. Our neighbors porch sunk and cracked in several places due to a similar issue, so we wanted to get ours fixed before that happened. I found Concrete Jack on Angie List and had seen their ads in magazines, so we decided to call them. They jacked the sidewalk back up by drilling holes in the sidewalk then filling them with some kind of concrete slurry until the hole underneath was completely filled. They then used the dust created when they drilled the holes to cover the openings where they drilled. It took a lot more slurry than they originally planned since the hole was deeper than originally thought.

Had a front sidewalk that had been sinking steadily over the years as the subsoil settled. This spring, the slope became rather obvious and needed to get addressed. Rather than bust the whole sidewalk and start from scratch, looked into these guys. The whole process was pretty painless. Filled out a form online to request a free estimate in early-April. Estimator came out about a week later, took some pictures, and provided a quote via email to repair the sidewalk. I replied back that I'd like the void beneath the front porch filled in as well, and received a modified estimate within a day. After a little procrastinating on my part, I set up an appointment via email. They told me that I didn't need to be present for the work, but opted to stay home that day should any issues come up. They arrived right on time, and started work promptly. Approximately 2-3 hours later, they knocked on the door to tell me they were done. Sidewalk was leveled and felt very solid. I was definitely pleased with their work. The invoice arrived via email (lots of email communication, which is fine with me) a few days later with a link to pay by check. I opted to pay with a credit card, which involved calling their billing department (a minor hassle... would prefer to pay online, but not that big a deal). Overall, a very good experience with a professional organization. Recommend.

The estimate from Concrete Jack came in about 80% below any other contractor that had given me an estimate. That's right, a 1/5th of the price!! The estimator, Kirk, was very knowledgeable and professional. He performed very quick and accurate diagnostic work and had a quote to me the next day! He was also extremely responsive to my questions after issuing the quote. The job scheduler, Karen, was the same way. Extremely courteous, responsive, and especially accommodating - considering my tight time demands. My experience up until the day of work was FIRST CLASS. Truly exceptional. After some minor snafus on the initial visit (It was a big job), Concrete Jack made sure that everything was just as it should be. They bent over backward under some... trying... circumstances to make sure that my basement floor got fully leveled. They took extra time to do it right and I can't say how much I appreciate their dedication. Corey worked his butt off both trips out. Kevin involved me in the process whenever I got nosy and made sure that all my concerns were addressed. Top Notch. I definitely recommend both this process and Concrete Jack.
Description of Work: Leveling of my basement slab, which had sunk up to 3 inches around the exterior perimeter and cracked and separated severely in two corners. The slab is approximately 1000 sq ft and was poured about 60 years ago.

We dealt with Kirk, the general manager, or his admin assistant the whole time other than when crews were on site. The crew arrived on time, drilled about 4 half-inch holes into the drive and pumped foam in. There were several complications with our job which came up; the way the concrete had settled the garage was now pinning the driveway down, there was a much larger cavity than anyone realized, and the already soft ground was wet from a lot of previous rain. After about two hours my wife got a call from the central office apologizing and explaining that some foam got sprinkled onto the garage door, and that they would send a crew out to repaint the entire door as soon as possible. Anther hour later the crew was done; the drive was leveled, the dill holes had been filled, we could drive on it, and unless you knew exactly where to look you couldn't tell any repair had been done. Kirk's office contacted us to ask if we could find the brand/color of the door, which we did, and they again reached out to us to schedule the time to come out and paint. The crew came back as scheduled, completed the job, and Kirk asked us if we were satisfied. It was only at this point that we were sent an invoice. Overall the job didn't go as smoothly as anyone hoped, and we were told we were a very unusual case. I can't say for sure, but I feel this is probably true. They put as much effort into perfecting the work and making sure we were happy as the initial job. The real character of a company is shown when things don't go perfectly, and Kirk and Concrete Jack did everything needed to take care of us, without any prompting from us. They reached out to contacted us at every turn, were very responsive to every contact we had, followed through with their statements, and didn't suggest we pay a dime until we were totally happy. I wish I could deal with more companies like that, and I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Over the winter we had noticed that our driveway had sunk over an inch below the level of our garage, to the point that the cars had problems getting into the garage. This drop was pretty consistent all the way across the two car garage. We assumed that we'd need to have the two sections near the garage demo'd and re-poured, which is roughly 8 x 16 feet. We got quotes for this, and had two companies who raise concrete or "jack" provide quotes. One of them only does mud-jacking, while Concrete Jack offers both mud-jacking and foam-jacking. We were told that mud jacking wasn't suitable for us, leaving a few contractors offing to redo part of our drive, and Concrete Jack to do foam jacking. Foam jacking was about 20% of redoing the top section of the drive, and it would let us drive on into our garage a couple hours vs a week if we had to pour concrete. We were a little skeptical, but it seemed like it was clearly the best option.
