We had purchased a big deal for the service, and the actual work was fine. My biggest challenge was the communication. I had another plumbing issue that was completly unrelated, and when I had the maintenance person from my condo look at it, they did say that the pipe that I had was not the right kind of pipe. Because I couldn't remember if it was the same one that he fixed, I was like I wish I had been told. Before I bought the deal I called them to find out if I could use the deal for what I wanted, and they didn't call back, and scheduling was awful. It seemed like every time I called, he was on the phone, or going somewhere, and couldn't schedule me because he couldn't stop and look at his calendar. Other than that, I was happy with the price, and the work was good, and I would probably use them again. Once he got here, it was not problem. I am not sure if the guy who I spoke to, was the guy who came out to do the work. I had to pay more than what I had paid for the big deal, because I had a leak, and it wasn't like a flowing drip, and when they came back, it wasn't the same area. He had to go back and buy a part, and that took longer.

Fantastic! Couldn't have asked for better service. two workers arrived on time accompanied by Rod Heiston, the owner, who explained everything they would be doing. They set up drp cloths to protect my floors and proceeded to remove all the doors, sand, clean with lacquer thinner, prime, paint two coats with Sherwin Williams cabinet pain, which they recommended. Although Rod suggested using a clear coat to finish, I decided against it as SW assured me I wouldn't need it andI was concerned that extra step would take over my 8 hour "deal" limit. In short I had a very positive experience with Top Dog Construction. I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for 40 hours of painting and I received 40 hours of efficient, professional and high quality painting and I have 5 beautifully refreshed rooms to show for it. I would recommend this company to my friends and will use them again for future projects. Regarding the actual specifics of the deal, I spoke to the owner by phone when I called to schedule the deal. He explained that he was able to accommodate me in the schedule the following week, which worked out well. He also explained that he and 5 painters would arrive and that they would work a full day and that anything remaining could be accommodated at a discount rate. This was slightly different from my expectation going in, but actually worked out very well in the end. He noted that someone should be home during the project to handle questions or issues that arose so that no time was lost. He also explained that I could work with his paint supplier to determine the amount of paint needed. He was helpful and responsive to questions via email between the conversation and the actual job. When the crew arrived on the morning of the job, we did a walk-through of the project. He made some suggestions about the number of coats of paint and where to use primer. During the walkthrough we added in several ceilings that I had not planned on doing, so I had to run out and get additional paint. When he left, the crew began their prep work. They were thorough in covering items, taping where necessary, and preparing the walls for paint. The crew were all talented, experienced painters. They were hard working, polite and efficient and worked for a solid 8 hours, including preparation and cleanup. In the end, they painted all that I had planned (5 rooms, multiple coats) plus the 3 unplanned ceilings in the day of painting. It was very impressive. They also cleaned up well at the end of the day. Two things that I'd just note for reference are that the first walkthrough happened the day of the painting, so I had to make some good guesses about how much would actually get done in the time allotted. Also, communication during the day with the on-site crew was a bit challenging, but I worked through the owner when I needed to. Both small in the grand scheme of the work and the value for the price paid. As I noted earlier, I had a very positive experience, I got more painted than I expected, and the results are great. I will definitely hire them again for future work, both painting and other handyman jobs.

Top Dog was flexible when I needed a couple of reschedules, including one the night before. The owner, Rod Heiston, dropped off 5 painters, and checked out my place before leaving them to perform the agreed-upon work in exactly the man-hours promised in the Big Deal. I wish I had realized that the work would be completed so quickly, but this is not a complaint as much as a rueful note on my part (overall great that it went so fast). i did provide an additional 2 gallons of paint about halfway through the project but this was not an inconvenience. The painters worked extremely hard, moved furniture and many other items to make room for their work, readily corrected the one relatively small problem I noticed, and cleaned up well after themselves. A very good experience.

It went great. I had a long list of things that needed to be done and they were able to accomplish everything and then did extra work that I thought I would be able to get to by myself. The main things that I needed done was to have a very heavy mirror and piece of art hung up. They did that with no problem, then they put up two shelves in the living room, built a shelf over the washer/dryer, put up plywood and built a shelf in a closet, fixed my dryer vent and fixed a screen door that wasn't closing right. They also put the door to my shed back on (it had fallen off) and figured out a clever way to keep it closed and repaired another shed door that wasn't closing. They did some additional work in my back yard. The workers were on time, very polite, didn't have an issue with my large dog (that thinks everyone is coming to visit her). They were polite to my Mom and did some additional work that she asked them to take care of (hung up some pictures...).

I can't remember exactly, but either the dishwasher or the garbage disposal was not connected. It took me a few days to realize since I don't run either every day. Once I realized it wasn't hooked up to the new faucet, they did come back and fix it afterward. The owner of the company was present while the initial work was completed, and I felt like he should have noticed if the work was not being done correctly. I was less than satisfied because they had to come back at least once because they left something leaking. This was extremely frustrating because I had to clean up the mess. I also did not care for the guy's attitude - he seemed very smart aleckey. I also asked him for an estimate on some bathroom renovation and the price he quoted me was extremely high compared to other companies I had estimate the work.

6 people arrived to do the job. It was clear some knew what they were doing and others did not. Charged almost half of the original fixed cost for for one extra hour.

I bought a big deal for 40 hours of painting. The price was excellent, but in the future I would schedule a painter by the job, not the hour. It was easy to schedule, but the owner did not want to come out to do a consultation and even on the day the work was done, had a hard time telling me how much work could get done. In fairness, there was a lot of prep, and the workers did work diligently, but they did not get near as much done as I expected that first day and the price went up exponentially to get the job finished. The owner did work with me when my power went out and was able to send the team out the next day. The painting turned out OK, but there was not a lot of quality control. They ended up removing one of the banisters in the stairwell before I realized what they were doing, and put it back up as they were rushing out the door. A few weeks later it ended up pulling right out of the wall and leaving a big hole in the newly painted wall. Because there was no consultation, I had to guess on the amount of paint to buy, and had to run out for more at the last minute, which was kind of frustrating because I asked them the first day if I had enough and they thought they did.

We are a happy customer! They are wonderful and very professional :)

They did a good job, they worked hard, and they were timely. I was delighted they were able to do the job.

Overall it went very well. Had some difficulty getting them to respond when I first bought the deal as they were overwhelmed . Once we connected and set a date all went well. The crew was very meticulous and respectful of my house and furnishings. Quality Of the painting was excellent and they worked hard at cleaning up well when they're refinished. I would use them again.

He was very nice but unfortunately he does not service Washington D.C. so I was unable to participate in the Big Deal.

Top Dog was very easy to work with. We made arrangements to meet with them to discuss what problem needed to be dealt with. They then showed up on time with a small team to track the leak down and fix it. They were very good about walking us through the process and the costs. They removed siding and decorative trim on the exterior of the window and cleaned the area, re-flashed it, calked it and replaced the siding. On the inside, they removed the wet dry-wall, cleaned the area, put down mold killer and then put up new dry-wall and spackled it for repainting. The team was very good, they knew what to do and did it very well. The owner and the team were very friendly and helpful. They also made sure that the area within the house was sealed off with plastic to ensure that construction dust was kept to a minimum. When they finished they cleaned up the area outside and inside the house. We are very pleased with their work.

No location limits were included in his Big Deal. A note like "we serve these counties or cities" would have been useful. AngiesList had to provide a refund as a result.

The Big Deal election went very well. I, unfortunately, could not use the contractor service.

I emailed Rod pictures of the existing stairs and asked if this was the type of work that he would be able to do and if so, did he think it could be completed with the 2 men for 8 hours deal. After reviewing the pictures and discussing the project over the phone, I purchased the deal. I purchased all materials so that the 16 hours were spent working and not shopping. I am very pleased, Rod showed up with the 2 handymen and got them started. I did have to make another trip to the store after Rod and the men arrived and looked at the project. They told me specifically the additional items needed. Rod showed up at the end of the day to go over the project. Everything was handled very professionaly! I was very pleased with Rod and the two handymen that worked on the project. The project came out beautifully, on time and within my budget!! Thank you very much!

Overall, it was pretty good. They have a good communication with us. They arrived on time. They got to work doing a variety of tasks that we have to do. The quality of work was really good in everything that we had them do. There was a one little bit of miscommunication we had. Once I've set the appointment up, I've emailed them a list of the things that we were going to be doing and what I wanted them to do. One of them was installing a ceiling fan. I have given them the height of the ceiling where they should install the ceiling fan. They didn't bring a ladder that was tall enough to do that. They had one but they didn't bring it. They didn't realize that they were going to need it, I guess. He used one of my 16 hours I paid for two hours for a guy to run around for the ladder. I went out and ran his ladder myself so that they could all keep working and doing stuff that I couldn't do. They did a really nice job fixing the electrical.

It turned out OK but I would not use them again. Instead of the 40 hours for the week they brought out 5 painters for an 8 hour period. I just felt like they were just all on top of each other. They started in one location and it took them all 8 hours just to do 1 area. I was trying to have all the floors of my house painted and they only got through the first floor. They had so many people doing separate things and when they started parts of jobs they ended up not completing any of them. I had to immediately terminate the services after the big deal and they wanted to charge me 3 times as much as I had paid, to come back a second day. They wanted to charge me another $1800 to complete the jobs on another day.

It did not go well. So I waited over a month to have some simple items done and their truck breaks down (understandable) while I take off work to be there to explain what I need done: 1. Dishwasher installed using wiring kit supplied not hot wired under the sink. 2. Kitchen sink supply valves replaced, parts supplied. 3. Kitchen faucet replaced, all parts supplied. That being said, they reschedule for a Saturday afternoon which I can't be home so I send this in an email AND talk to the owner who assures me he'll send a guy with plumbing experience o do the work. I felt better. Fast forward to the Saturday, the guy shows up at 7am, has NO plumbing experience, should probably not be allowed to touch any water lines, AND: 1. Installs the dishwasher by "hot wiring" under the sink, all parts that i supplied left unused. 2. DOES NOT replace the supply valves, all parts again, left unused. 3. Installs the faucet improperly and not seated the the underside of the counter. The faucet is actually leaning and moves freely when you touch it. So, in conclusion, I had to do everything myself and will obviously NOT be calling this contractor again.

Contractor was responsive to calls for initial appointment and arrived within the established time limit which is always appreciated from any contractor. He covered the bathroom floor, took down a section of the bathroom ceiling, determined where the leak was coming in from the exterior of the townhouse. Work was done quickly and adequately cleaned up afterwards. Several problems were noted to correct the leaking problem from both the exterior and interior. I asked for a general quote of the work and was given an overall amount. I then asked the contractor for a detailed estimate of each item to be corrected and a final price of the work. Contractor said he would get that back to me. Several days later contractor called and said his computer system was down expected the problems to be corrected soon and would then provide the detailed estimate. He never called back again. Since he never provided a detailed contract no other work was performed.

Serviceman arrived on time and worked quickly and cleanly--left no mess, and even took away the box that had the new faucet in addition to taking away the old one. Friendly service without wasting time. Will definitely consider for other jobs.

Called them out to install an new GFI. It was the incorrect GFI. They let me know I didn't need a new one, they would have installed my new one. If they would have installed the one I paid for it would of made my situation worse. I would call them again if I had another electrical problem. The only thing I didn't like about the company is they didn't have the availability I needed.

I had started with a Big deal for toilet tune ups, inspection, bowl, seat cleaning.. etc. I had some interior painting to be done. Rod informed me that they are specialist at painting, so I had them do it! Beautiful job, low cost, and left my house immaculate after they left! The workers were neat and polite, and spoke perfect English I would recommend them, and will use them again.
