The entire experience was excellent! Scheduling with the owner was easy and convenient. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, were clear on what was to be done, and were very professional. The quality of the work was great. The owner followed up to make sure we were completely satisfied before giving us a bill. We couldn’t be more pleased and will definitely use them again.

This was a big job but we got exactly what we wanted and were given good advice along the way. The demo of the old tub, wall and vinyl surround were completed in a day and everything was prepped for a new bath. Basic plumbing was handled by a handyman at a lower cost but Top Dog does have certified plumbers available if they're needed. The professionals were able to blend an old floor tile with the new wall tile to make it look like it all goes together. The owner checked each step of the process to make sure it was done properly. I was able to ask advice on materials while in the store shopping as the owner was always available by phone. Each person in the house acted in a professional and friendly manner. They cleaned up after themselves and even tried to keep the noise down when my son was napping. Overall we couldn't be happier.

We had to do some small repairs in preparation for selling our home. We had used Top Dog in the past and been happy with their work so we called Rod and he was able togged us on the schedule within 2 days. Zurich (owner's brother) arrived on time and was very thorough in his work. I originally thought my sink stopper and drain pipe would need to be replaced, but he was able to repair it, saving time and material costs. I'm very happy with the work performed. Quality was more at the level of an artisan than a "mere" handyman.

Top Dog came the same day we called with an emergency of sorts. While carpeting an upstairs room, we discovered that the staircase underneath was structurally deficient. Before we could continue with carpeting, we needed to repair the stairs. Zurich had to cut through an adjoining wall and closet to access the underpinnings of the stairs, which had been poorly constructed when our house was built in 1987. The underlying structure is now stronger than ever - no squeaks, no sagging.

(Let this be a warning about pouring oil and other stuff down your pipes!) We recently purchased a home in Fairfax County, Virginia. The home inspection did not reveal any significant structural issues; however, during one of the most significant summer storms of 2015, we suffered water damage. Our Google search identified Top Dog Professional Handyman Services as our best choice for water leak detection and repair. We immediately contacted Top Dog and spoke directly to the owner, Rod Heiston. In retrospect, I wish I had known about and leveraged Top Dog?s multi-master home inspection service to assess our home more thoroughly. Rod?s company, Top Dog, does top-quality work. They quickly discovered the sources and extent of our water leak. In the process, they deliberately minimized demolition so the reconstruction would be as quick and cost-effective as possible. They also detected some mold and performed mold remediation. They employed their own expertise in carpentry, roofing, siding, insulation, drywall, flooring, and painting to waterproof and repair our home. Like a dog on a bone, they stayed with the project until its completion. Their repairs have withstood the test of several subsequent storms. Top Dog communicates well. During the process, they clarified the terms, including cost for labor and material, on a daily basis. They responded quickly to calls, texts, and e-mails and patiently explained plans and processes in a manner that even a non-expert could understand. They also advocated with a third-party adjuster and our insurance company on our behalf. Top Dog pays meticulous attention to detail. Throughout the process of demolition and reconstruction, they carefully protected our home and thoroughly cleaned up after themselves.

Service provide was requested to repair kitchen faucet that was leaking. The gentleman was very nice and informative. He also did a great job with the job. I would most definitely use them again.

The services for the big deal from Top Dog Professional Handyman Services which was purchased on May 1st of 2013 and it was 109 dollars for 2 hours of plumbing labor worked out well actually. He was on time. If I remember, it has been a while, he was polite. He was just good about it. He did it and did it professionally. I didn't have anything to complain about. We talked a little bit about what he was going to do. I always like to ask questions as to what he was going to be doing and why and he explained everything to me. Our interactions were just fine. Nothing has been wrong with the work that he conducted so I have been very pleased with it, it was a good fix. I don't think there were additional charges than the 109 dollars for the big deal. It has been a while and I don't recall being upset or irritated by the price. I probably will use this provider again in the future.

They did a pretty good job. They did not have a ladder that was correct at first and that was an issue because we have a two-story house. They should have known that beforehand. Other than that, they did a good job. It was easy scheduling the service. The staff was really nice. We actually bought the workers pizza for dinner. They did an awesome job and I would recommend them.

Top Dog showed up on time with 2 guys to work on my list for 4 hours. They had all the tools and went to work immediately. Each man tackled a different job simultaneously. I didn't think it was possible to complete my entire list in 4 hours. I just prioritized the list and I figured whatever didn't get done just won't get done until another time. But the guys finished the whole list in 3.5 hours!!! I was shocked. Then they asked me if I had anything else that needed to be done because there was 30 minutes left. But I really ran out of things to do. My house was all fixed up. I would hire Top Dog again in a heartbeat.

Due to a tight deadline I contacted the vendor ahead of time to ensure they had time available to honor my request (I needed it done within 2 weeks). The vendor said they had time they could schedule, and asked me if I would pay them cash so they could avoid the Angie's List cut of the deal. I ignored this request and I placed the Angie's list order. They responded within 2 days and scheduled a date for the work. They asked what the list of tasks included, and I provided them specific details. They estimated the work to be ~24hrs of work (the Angie's deal covered 16) and said that they we could discuss how to complete the work after the 16 was completed and still make my timeline. The day arrives, they were supposed to arrive between 800-830 and I called them at 900 asking where the workers were. The office did not know why their people were not onsite and said they would call back. I called back (after 20 minutes without a call) and I was told the workers got into a car accident and they would not be coming because they damaged their truck. When I asked when the work could be rescheduled the vendor got irate saying his truck was damaged and his workers might be hurt and could even be in the hospital. His comments were a bit confused and disjointed but I thought he was dealing with a situation and probably not communicating clearly, so I thought he needed some time to sort it out so I asked him to call me back whenever he knew anything more. Two days later he sent a text message stating they could do the work the following week (which would be a week past my 2 week window to get the work done). I responded that because of my timeline I had done much of the work myself but I understood the situation was not caused by him so I would try to work with him to honor the deal and we scheduled a 1/2 day's work for 2 men (I could not take time off more time after a holiday weekend after the time the previous week). He agreed and asked for the list of tasks again. He called again the day before the planned work to ask for the list of tasks again and then told me that work would take at least 2.5 days of 2 men working, if not more. I was surprised and asked why (give the drastically lower earlier estimate for a longer list of tasks). At my question he got angry and said he had been in this business for 10 years and if I was going to question him then he didn't want to work with me because clearly we couldn't work together. He told me I could go to Angie's List and try to get my money back because he wouldn't talk with me, and has not communicated back since.

They were wonderful. The gentleman who arrived assessed the situation, needed to go and get additional parts and he came back quickly and got everything installed.

They were going to check the sump pump, and they found out that it was not working. They ended up replacing that for us the same day. My husband was there when they did the work. He said they were on time and were able to solve the issue right away. I was surprised with the cost of the service though; we thought it was a high.

Originally,I had work done on February 2, 2012. We had a problem with the toilet constantly flushing and to resolve the problem the toilet was rebuilt. The problem continued and we had a second rebuild on July 19, 2012. We did not call earlier because we were dealing with a family emergency. So we could not attend to the the leaky toilet. Unfortunately, we are dissatisfied with the services rendered because the problem persists. We are disappointed the toilet does not work properly. We paid a total of $323 and we still have a broken toilet. I was told that I had to be billed the work hours because the problem with the toilet was not the workmanship, however I feel like this is an inadequate response. If the problem were diagnosed correctly we would not have to have a second call. We had a toilet rebuilt and we paid for the parts and labor then the diagnosis should have been accurate. I feel like we should not have to keep paying to diagnose by trial and error. The responsibility for correctly diagnosing the problem should fall the professional. Additionally the customer service was rude and inadequate. Finally, we used a kit from Home Depot and fixed ourselves and that only cost us $20.

Plumber/Technician arrived 2 hours after the 1-3pm appointment; stated he was unaware of the scheduled time. Installed the garbage disposal in a reasonable time. Turned the disposal on demonstrating its functioning and noise level. However he did not test with dish washer interface. Subsequent uses of the dish washer caused an excessive amount of water through the overflow drain rather than through the garbage disposal drain. The excessive overflow could not be captured in the sink causing water to flow onto the kitchen counter. Assuming the disposal was properly installed by the Top Dog handyman, I discussed drainage issue with the hardware associate where I purchased the unit. He advised that a novice mistake is failure to remove a drain plug from the garbage disposal prior to installation. I had my regular plumbing service troubleshot the problem. He felt inside the disposal and said a drain plug is still in the unit. The disposal had to be uninstalled to remove the plug and reinstalled. The plumber started the dish washer, let water fill for a minute, then pressed the cancel/drain button to demonstrate the overflow remedy. The rework nullified any savings from the Angie List sale/discount.

They showed us the issues as they discovered them and they explained everything to us every step of the way. They replaced the door to fix the origin of the water leak, they remediated the mold, and the replaced all affected rot and structural damage. The situation was difficult for us as it was unexpected, but Rod, Aaron and Thomas made it as easy on us as possible. We are very appreciative of their reliability and professionalism.

They knew exactly what to do, stayed on budget, and completed the work promptly. Furthermore, they did a good job and cleaned up after themselves.

Tog Dog provided excellent service over a two day period. They did a leak detection, sealed a palladium window area, removed water damaged wood and storm damaged wood and conducted some mold removal. The owner of the company was also on site to confirm what work needed to be done. They prioritized the needs so that we could decide what we wanted worked on now, and later. The men were careful to put up sheeting to protect the rest of the house and bagged up all materials for easy disposal. The price was fair and the work was done professionally. They kept me informed every step of the way and worked with my insureance company on the claim. I would use them again and highly recommend them.

They did a great job within the time frame they said it would take. The two men worked 2 full days and were very neat and clean. The chippendale pattern on the hand railings turned out perfect. This matched the chippendale railings that go around our porch

The price went a little over the estimate price but I added something. The guy did a fantastic job. I just didn't mesh well with the owner. They did the job that I paid them for but I just felt like he was pushing me to do more with him.

I cannot say enough good things about Top Dog Professional Handyman Services. I called Top Dog for a water leak in my upstairs master bathroom. We had already had several companies to try and find the water leak without success. They not only were able to quickly determine exactly where the leak was coming from, but they also treated and eliminated the mold which the leak had caused. They suggested a bathroom remodel whereby we eliminated the outdated step-up into the tub with a surrounding tile ledge around the tub, which is notorious for leak problems. I am very happy with the great quality of work on their leak detection services, the mold removal, the repair of the water damage. I also feel confident that the remodel which is to be done next will of the highest quality.
