I emailed a request to schedule the work and they got right back to me. They called in the morning to say they were on the way. The work was completed and all was great. The garbage disposal jammed and they came back to replace it. We appreciated their responsiveness and professionalism. Highly recommended!

Upon completing the Sump Pump service, they recommended replacing the sump pump along with a new check valve. The coupon for this service did not apply to the replacement of the sump pump. Also, they were not prepared to provide a quote on the bath remodel and asked that I call again to setup a new time.

Kyle, the owner?s nephew arrived promptly and in less than an hour had installed a $53 Price Pfister cartridge which seems to be much more expensive than they are locally. But he said it didn?t rattle anymore, and I did not go upstairs to check as I was recovering from a broken ankle and took him at his word. My daughter and her husband were visiting a week later and discovered that the same problem existed when she attempted to shower. When I called them to come to fix the problem the owner stated that he would have to charge me again for the ?service charge? at which time I asked my daughter, who happens to be a lawyer, to please talk to him. He became quite angry with her, and ultimately demanded to speak to her husband! This was quite nonproductive, as you might imagine, and the conversation ended.

Kyle arrived on time. He and I brought a 16' ladder I had rented into my home and stood it up in the foyer. From there, Kyle did everything including removing the existing fixture, preparing the new chandelier, and mounting it. Wend up perfectly and at just the right height. Kyle then also replaced the kitchen dining area overhead pendant lamp with one that matched the new chandelier in the foyer. The lamp glass was cracked, so he could not 100% the install. But the fisture is hung and I'm ordered the replacement glass. Then he mounted a sconce in the upstairs foyer. There was already an electrical box w/ wall plate there, so all he had to do was mount the sconce. The entire effort took about 3.5 hours. Kyle was professional and a pleasure to deal with.

He was fine, didn't pressure me to replace it, just showed me how bad it was. I thought the price of the pump was a bit high, but since he had it on the truck, I didn't argue. Next time, I think, I would have purchased my own pump and had them install it.

Kyle the tech called the evening before to confirm the appointment and expected time of arrival. He arrived within the two hour window and we discussed the job. He agreed that I probably had a gas seal leak in the master BR toilet. He was personable, efficient and easy to communicate with. Before he started he fully explained how charges would be computed. After removal he showed me that indeed the old seal did not make good contact with the bottom of the toilet. He was neat and efficient and even corrected a bothersome misalignment problem with the toilet when he put it back in place. The bad smell is gone and my wife and I are very pleased with his work.

Arrived on time, polite, friendly,job well done. Very pleased and would highly recommend. Kyle was great!

We saw the Dog on the list, and needing some plumbing done ASAP, rang and left a message. We rang the next day, and the next. The calls were never returned.

Overall this was a positive experience

I had a toilet that'd been blocked up by a kid flushing stuff down it. I'd removed as much as I could reach, but it was still blocked. Removing and resetting a toilet isn't all that tricky, but I still wanted a professional to do it. I used a $99 Angie's List Big Deal to get Top Dog to come out. On the phone, the dispatcher said that there would be an additional charge to snake the toilet: a $25 tool fee, plus a pro-rated hourly charge. There's also a separate charge for the wax ring and new bolts ($13 extra). Even so, it seemed worthwhile to get that toilet working again. I scheduled the appointment. Top Dog arrived on time, and I watched as the work was done (to make sure that I could do it myself in the future). They did a fine job in clearing the work area, removing the water from the toilet, and then taking the toilet off its mount. A pen and a toy were at the bottom, and easily removed. As it happens, I have my own plumber's snake, so the handyman was kind enough to run that through the trap while I got him a drink. The snake loosened a couple more objects, which floated to the top when the toilet was reset and refilled with water. Given the brief amount of time it took, and the fact that I had my own snake, they didn't charge extra for the labor (although I did pay for the wax ring and bolt). The toilet works fine now, and I'm prepared in case the young'un decides to flush more stuff down. Top Dog did an excellent job on the limited task I had for them this time, and I'd certainly consider them for more serious jobs too.

I hired Top Dog to power wash my deck and replace some rotten boards. It soon became clear that the deck was in much worse shape than I thought, but Kyle powered through all the unexpected extra work with good grace and a good sense of humor! My deck is now sturdier than ever, and I will soon have Top Dog come back to stain the whole deck.

After Top Dog did such a great job putting in a new kitchen light fixture - I had a coupon! - I decided to hire them for some other jobs I had around the house. I bought a coupon, which I used for the faucet installation after Rod kindly but firmly explained to me that it was one coupon per visit. I must say that Top Dog's coupons are an excellent value, but I would use Top Dog regardless of coupons. Kyle arrived promptly to do all the jobs, which he did with his usual meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. I couldn't be happier with the results!

I called Top Dog Professional Handyman Services on August 7, 2012 and explained the issue: I had an old toilet that we had attempted to fix (and damaged it even further) and needed a professional to remove the old toilet and replace it with a new one. I left a voicemail and received a call within an hour from Rod. Rod explained to me several options including repairing my old toilet or replacing it. He spent time going over how to buy a toilet (which I have NEVER done) and explained the different sizes, shapes, and brands and made several recommendations based on a price range that fit my budget. He also explained how to measure the rough-in measurement and gave me a bit of an education on toilets. He offered to send someone out that day but it did not work for my schedule and he was flexible and found a time slot the next morning. He said the technician would be out mid-morning and he was there right at 10:45 (very punctual). The technician was extremely friendly and professional and even spent some time explaining some of the other services they offered (which I will most certainly need). The removal and installation went without a hitch and the toilet is working perfectly. The technician even tried to save us money (on the disposal fee) by letting us know that in our county, they will often pick up toilets for free. When I had a question about the disposal of the toilet at 10:00PM this evening, I sent Rod a message and within 5 minutes he had called me and given me several options in case the trash company does not pick up the toilet, including sending one of his guys out to come pick it up for the same disposal fee. All in all a great company with great customer service. Another bonus - 10% off my next service!

The fan was installed, but the technician could not take care of the electrical issue. We agreed that the master electrician would contact me to come out to fix the electrical issue. That has not happened. I was also a little dismayed that the job took more than 2 hours and so I ended up paying an additional 44 without the work being completed. The tecnician was very nice and did his best, but I expected that the company would follow up. I had every intention of hiring them to take care of the unfinished work. They missed the opportunity to earn more business.

IM purchased 2 services from Top Dog through Angies Big Deal. I purchased one for plumbing and one for eletrical. It took about 2 weeks to get a response and even then they told me they were really busy because of the Big Deal. I needed the work done by May 24, 2012. I explained that the tolier kept running because the stopper wouldn't close all the way. I was using my plumbing coupon for that. I also need safety bars installed because I was having total knee replacement surgery the first week of June. They said they would do that for me but couldn't give me an estimate. I also discussed all the other things I needed done around the house and that I wanted to use by electrical coupon for changing some light fixtures. They were able to squeeze me in at the end of the day and 2 workers showed up on time. The went to do the toliet repair first. One guy did all the work and the other stood in the doorway talking about other things not the work going on. I should them the 3 safety bars I needed installed. Again, one guy did the work for the one in the powder room. It was installed too high but it was still useable. They then moved to the master bath. The installed the bar in the shower. They then went to install the safety bar by the toliet. About 1.5 hr went by and they called me into the bathroom to say that they could not find a stud to hang the bar on because there is a firewall. They made three holes in my wall looking for a way to do this. They said they would contact the owner to see if he had a way to do this. They said he would call me the next day. They then wrote up a bill and charged me for 2 people for 1.5 hours for hanging what was supposed to be 3 bars and charged in $348.00. The second guy did nothing that I could see but carry tools. I did not receive a phone call from Dave the owner until the week of May 24. I had left messages and emails. He told me he would come out to hang this bar but wasn't sure how much work would be involved and he would charge me $89/man hour and it would taken 2 men. I said I would have to think about it. I never called him back because he couldn't tell me how much work it would be and how much time it would take. He then called me the secondt week of June to see if I wanted the rest of the work completed on the 19th. I told him that I had to call out another company because the toliet in the powder had the same problem and it was leaking all over the floor. The company who came out said it was installed wrong. I had to pay another $100 for this. I told Dave this and that I was not happy with the service or workmanship and that to pay an additional $89/man hour for a job that should have been completed the first time was out of the question. He did not offer to fix the holes in the wall the 2 guys had made. Additionally, when asked about the $99 eletrical coupon and a refund, he refused. He also told me he never had a bad review and everyone who used him liked the work. I guess I am the one that felt taken for a ride. The 2 bars installed were good and are holding up. As far as getting in touch with Dave and the company, expect a long time to get a phone call back. I would never use these people again and would recommend against anyone using them. Hanging 3 safety bars should not take 1.5 hours and cost over $300.

Service person was punctual, very efficient, very informative, friendly individual. Will certainly use this company in the future. Thanks Angie's List for providing such a great service provider!

First contacted the company for an estimate on 7/10 and left voicemail. Kyle from Top Dog called me on Sunday (after 4days) and asked me to email the work to be done with pictures before he can provide an estimate. I sent the email the same day. Since then there has been no response to my email or follow-up phone call (on 7/16). I am surprised that this company has so many A's when they are not even professional about calling back/responding etc.

I installed the wrong flapper valve.It ddin't seat properly. Top Dog came by, fixed the valve. Simple task, well done. Talked me through the process also. Learned from them.

It went horrible. I called the contact number listed on my receipt (571-221-5493) several times and left messages for a return call to schedule an appointment. Despite the recording stating that the call would be returned in less than 48 hours, 48 hours came and went without a return call, so a second call was made and a message left, again over 48 hours passed and there was no return call. Finally on 7/14 I called again and I got a live person on the line. I explained the situation and the person said that he would call me back as soon as he got to the office to schedule my appointment - again no return call. On 7/15 I did finally receive a return call and I imagined that after the very poor service that I had received, the company would compensate by scheduling an appointment as soon as possible, but that was not the case. After taking my data, I was told that the earliest appointment that was possible would be on 30 July. I told them that I would be leaving the country for several months on 26 July and requested that the appointment be made for any time prior to 26 July. The response was "impossible". So, I have no desire to pursue business with this company and view the $99 spent as money wasted. Angie needs to screen companies much more closely before placing them in the Big Deal category. This company is a Bad Deal.

The tech arrived early (which was great), was very productive and professional. I had asked him to do one additional thing that I did not mention when I had made the appointment. I made sure he had the time to do the task before he had his next appointment. He said he could - it looked beautiful when he was done!

Rod came and gave us an estimate and replaced the gutter in a very timely manner. It looks wonderful. I'm expecting a bill for $575. I will post if that is not the case, but I have no reason to believe it won't be. Thanks for the fast turnaround and wonderful work.

Kyle was on time, professional, didn't wince when he saw my old wiring (my house is 80 years old), and did a beautiful job putting up the new lighting fixture (including putting some mud on the ceiling when the new lighting fixture didn't quite cover up the holes from the old fixture). Kyle and Top Dog were delightful to work with, and I'm already scheduling the next batch of handyman tasks I need them to do!

I would say not well given that I am now without electricity in at least two rooms that had electricity prior to this visit.

They fixed the thing they came for and then charged for extra things they did.
