Top Dog Professional Handyman Svcs

Work went well, old home so some the plumbing was hard to replace. The service rep did an outstanding job in replacing the part needed.

Aside from the tile problem (which wasn't Top Dog's fault), everything went very well. They were prompt, courteous, informative and professional. They answered all of my questions and let me check the placement before tightening everything down, as I'm kind of fussy that way. I'm very pleased with the services provided and would use them again.

I made an initial appointment for an afternoon. Unfortunately something came up at work the morning of the schedule and I left a message with Top Dog asking to reschedule. In the afternoon, I check my voice mail and it had two messages. One was from the person doing the job asking to come at noon time and a second from Rod insisting, yes, insisting I keep the appt. I called the following day apologized for the cancellation and ask to reschedule. Rod sounded irritated and went on about how they had to jiggle schedule around. The second appt was from 3:30-5:00. I was home by 3:00 and waited till 5 and no show so I turned off my cell phone. The following day I retrieve a message left at 5:15 saying they want to come at 6:30. So I called back again the following day to reshedule. No call back. I called againg the following day left a message and I get a call back from Rod. Rod starts off claiming I stood them up twice and preaches about sometimes relationship don't work out and at this point I was really upset. I took vacation to come home by 3 and so did my wife to pick up the kid from school. Calling past the scheduled time just doesn't cut it. Insisting to customers they keep appt, seriously? Where has customer service gone these days.

Pretty good. The handyman had some trouble in removing the original faucet but once he was able to get it off, the installation of the new faucet happened quickly. Minor issue but could have cleaned up a bit more after completing the job but all in all, a good value and good service.

The person came on time and started to work on the faucet. After a few minutes, he identified that the faucet has to be replaced instead of being repaired. I went to buy a new one while he took off the old one. He had a hard time to install the new faucet because he didn't follow the instruction. He did the step 4 first before getting to step 1, so the whole process became very difficult. Although he finally had it on,, it should not be that hard based on the review from online regarding the installment.

Person arrrived on time and did great job. I had forgotten I had an even to go to and it was a little tight but he was able to finish up in time for me to leave on time.

They did what they said they would do and I feel like I got the value of the service; I would use them again!

The original Angie’s List deal was $999, but the job took them a little longer so I have to pay more. They did a fabulous job painting. They were phenomenal. The gentlemen who came out to work were very good. They cleaned up their mess. Actually, I used them for my daughter’s house, and I got some painting that I would like to do in my own home in the near future, and I would very likely go back with them.

He showed up eaxacty on time, did the job quickly and well. No problems at all. I would reccommend,

Overall I was pleased with the service I received. The employee was very personable, even looked at another issue we had and ruled out a plumbing concern.

I had been trying for months to schedule an appointment and was unable to do so because my phone calls were not returned. Top Dog finally gave me a 4 hour window in which they would come out to do the repairs. A repairman came and wanted to charge me about another $89.00 to repair a light switch after I had paid for the $99 coupon from Angie's List. He said to repair the switch would take less than an hour. Why would I paid another $89 to replace a light switch which would take less than an hour to install after I had paid for 2 hours of electrical work ? After I told him that I did not want to but I would give him another $25, he wanted me to sign a paper stating that I would pay him for a full hour of work. I told him no and that I would contact the people who sold me the coupon. He then proceeded to make verbal threats if I posted a bad report. I told him to get out of my house immmediately. This was the most horrendous experience that I have ever had with any repair company! These people should not be doing business in any state. They are awful and crossed the line of civility and the law when they threaten me if I wrote a bad report of their services. I was a full refund and an apology from the company.

I bought a coupon to change my kitchen faucet for $99 (exactly as advertised). I tried to make an appointment on a week day. I told the guy that my father would be there at my house. His response verbatim from his email was "sorry, our policy is to have a major decision maker at the house during the repairs, just incase one has to be made. Is there anyway for you to be there that day?". I wonder what kind of "major decisions" needed to be made to change a kitchen faucet! This to me is a significant change of terms and conditions of this coupon. This was not stated anywhere. I would not have purchased the coupon had I known that I was required to stay at my house during a working weekday while the plumber changed my kitchen faucet!!!! I got my money back fortunately. By the way, I got another plumber to change my kitchen faucet during the day time with my father being present for $60. I gave the guy a $20 tip. The guy did a quality job. As for my rating on responsiveness, I sent a request for an appointment via email on 8/25. I did not get a response until 8/27. As for my overall rating, I do not believe that anyone should put up with these deceptive sales practices and if these contractors try to finagle their way in through the door so they can just sell more, they should be exposed and rated such.

The owner was fairly responsive to my phone calls to set up a service call. However, they had sold quite a few prepaid service hours so it was a month before I could get them to come out. By that time, a friend had actually installed the toliet and another plumber had come to fix a problem with our shower. The tasks I had definitely didn't take an hour and the scheduling was so difficult that I don't think I'll buy any of the pre-paid services again. The person who came out though was polite and knowledgeable. I would consider using them for other handyman services.

I was very satidfied with the work. However, I wish the company took credit cards. And since they don't, I think they should inform customers when an appointment is made.

The serviceman was courteous and did a great job of repairing my electrical wall switch. This is the second time that I have used this handyman service, and I will continue to recommend them to all of my friends and neighbors.

The plumber arrived on time and went to work on the project. I used the time to replace a faucet and shut-off valves in the master bath. Then decided to pay extra to have the second faucet and shut-off valves replaced. I provided the faucets. The plumber provided the valves. The work was done quickly and neatly. Everything looks great and works well. Based upon this work, I signed up for another Big Deal to have Top Dog replace my other bathroom faucets. Kyle, the plumber was very pleasant and courteous.

I signed up for one of their Big Deals (the previous day and a separate review) and had them come back the next day to finish up some of the items. My to-do list was long and I was more concerned with having enough work to do than finishing everything 100%. The previous day they made a big dent in the to-do list and by the end of this (shorter) day they made good progress. There was a last minute crisis where the ceiling paint I had didn't exactly match the existing color so I decided to have them repaint the entire ceiling in 1 room (they previously patched the drywall). This was about 1 hour before they were to leave but they quickly prepped the room and painted the whole ceiling. As a result of this last minute issue, there were a few touch up items they were working on that didn't get finished. But I considered those items much easier for me to do than repainting a ceiling so the choice was mine. My family was clamoring to get back in the house or else I would have extended their day to compensate. Their rate is lower than other handymen services I've used and they seem just as competent so I'd hire them again if the situation presented itself. I'd also probably get a direct quote to do a specific job instead of go hourly. It's too hard for me to judge it hourly. The situation I hired them for was somewhat open ended because it was a continuation of service from a previous day and the to-do list was long, so I expected to have some loose ends. But the loose-ends list is small because they did a lot of work over 2 days.

This Big Deal was definitely worth it. They were able to put a big dent in a long to-do list during the long 10 hour day. I was more concerned with having enough for them to do as opposed to finishing 100% every task. I had them come back the next day (at their full rate, 24 additional man hours) so some of the items could be finished. I'll add a separate review for the additional day because it wasn't part of the Big Deal. So if your to-do list is smaller then they'd probably finish and go home early. If it's large like mine, then I'd either prepare to hire them for an addition day(s) or be willing for them to leave with some things not 100% done. Or I guess you can get a direct quote for a specific job instead of just going by the hour like I did. At the end of their second day there were still some things not finished because I added even more, but overall I'm satisfied with their work. They seem competent with the tasks I hired them for, painting, carpentry, drywall, staining. If I had a job in the future that spanned several disciplines and I didn't feel like hiring separate companies to do it, I'd consider hiring them again.

The plumbing handyman replaced two toilets for me and also installed a toilet paper hanger because the old one had pulled out of the wall. I bought and picked up the toilets at Home Depot on my own beforehand, with Top Dog's advice. The guy showed up on time, worked quickly and efficiently and was done in about 2 hrs. He cleaned up the mess very well too. I had to pay him $50 apiece to take away the two old toilets, though, that I hadn't known about. He said I could leave them for my garbage collectors who might take them, but my homeowners association would have had a hissy fit had I left two old toilets out on the curb for a few days. And I'm not sure the garbage co. would have taken them anyway, so I paid the extra $100 for the haul-away and was glad to be rid of them. All in all $300 for all the work I had done (not including the price of the new toilets, which I bought myself) was a good price even with the unexpected $100 disposal fee.

After he spent an hour replace the cartidge for shower faucet( I bought the $99 Big Deal for this), the guy said he doesn't has the parts for sink, need run to store to get 2 pop up ball rods. He comes back 1 hours 50 min later( The Home depot is 5.39mile away), then spent 4 min change 2 pop up ball rods and 1 min to repair the front door. The door need replace weather strpping, he just caulk it instead. He charged me $248 for the pop up ball rods and door repair. Two hours later, I couldn't open my front door because the caulking stick the door. I feel like a fool. Never use this company again.

The handyman installed my facet twice, the base was not stable first time, so I use different facet and they (Rod and his handyman) were agree to reinstall it. The reason I was told is the first facet is one hole, it can't hold it tight. Luckily, I prepared 2 facets, the 2nd one was still not stable and it is three holes facet. But, I accepted the 2nd one anyway. After that, I was told my hot water 'thing' (the one you need to turn it off, one for cold water, one for hot water) is broken, do I want him to replace it? I argued with him, it was good, no linking, he broke it during installation of the facet, he should fix it for free. I requested to talk to Rod (his boss). all I heard from Rod is 'it is the way it is.' , I argued with Rod, he did not agree that his handyman broke it, they said my house is too old, everything is about to brake, (my house is 23 years old). He was keep saying ' that's the way it is'. I said, the 'thing' was good before his handyman replaced the facet, he should have known better to handle with care. Rod keep saying ' it is the way it is, your house is too old, how can we handle with care?' I raised my voice over the phone, then Rod said if I scream again, he is not going to talk to me'. He wanted to charge me $25 + 1/2 hour of labor, or I can call other plumber. He said again and again 'that's the way it is'. I rejected his offer and let his handyman leave. You make judgment yourself, do you want hire a handyman who acts like this? I don't.

Kyle arrived on time and performed the installation competently. He needed longer water hoses and had them in the truck. He provided them at the reasonable price of $13 apiece. He adjusted the weights on the faucet several times to optimize the fit. He demonstrated the finished installation to me to show that there were no leaks. He was pleasant and informative and professional throughout the project. This was an Angie's list Deal of the Day for $99. The $26 for the flexible hoses was additional.

Service technician was professional and courteous. The service person installed owner purchased replacement faucet; and demonstrated that all was in working order. The replacement faucet (Moen, Torrance CA87480) included a rinse-wand that was not a a pull-out from the faucet. I was especially pleased that the service person was able to install this component as well.

The end result was that I now have two sink drains that work perfectly. It took several tries to get it right, but they did!

He did the job qickly and effectively and it works great. He asked if there was anything else he could do. very professional and did good work.
