South Eastern VA Tree Service

After snow and ice storm pine was dropping limbs....one limb took down cable line, another limb snapped and was resting on another line. I called on Friday afternoon and Simon came by 20-30 minutes later (roads were not great either). After walking and showing him what happened & what I wanted done he pulled out his pole-chain saw & removed the snapped limb...he then cut the limb holding down the cable line. NOW I had another tree service person stop by before I called SEVA Tree & give me a quote - this person never once offered to remove the limbs that were on the lines. I have other trees that will need to be removed & I will be using SEVA Tree Service!

I first noticed SEVA via an Angie's List Deal. I called, spoke with Mike and arranged an estimate within a day. In fact, the estimate was done while I was away. We emailed estimates, options, offers and set a date for the work to commence. Two snow storms with ice managed to rearrange the date a couple of times. SEVA completed the tree service with snow still on the ground in shaded areas. When Simon arrived, we walked the property together during while we discussed what the goal was and if there were different routes, which ones I preferred. During the walk through it became very evident he knew the business, knew his crew and identified quickly what my priorities were - then he and the crew exceeded them. After finalizing the deal, I had some reservations - once they began their work, I became a fan and will definitely be a customer of their's for quite a while. The River Birch in the front yard can be tricky and has proven to be a challenge to maintain. Simon went right after it - literally, he climbed into the tree and began a very systematic pruning. While Simon dropped the prunnings, an assitant below deflected the limbs/cuttings away from the plants below by using a metal garden rake. When Simon would change his location, his assistant collected the trimmings into a pile to be moved to their dump truck. Another two man team was working on other trees. Everything was very coordinated and efficient. While his crew finished up, Simon and I did another walk through - he ensured everything was done the way we had discussed. The entire yard was cleaned and neatened to complete their job. I was very pleased with the entire process and SEVA's performance. Excellent value.

We had a lot of work done, and it was a very hot day. They did do good work, however I felt like most companies, you have to supervise them so they wont miss anything.

They were really friendly and even sent a nice Christmas card. They did a great job.

They were prompt with scheduling and response to my inquiry. Also they were kind and courteous in response to my concerns. I would use their service if I had a future need.

It was fine and they did a good job. They were very professional. Scheduling was a challenge because so many other people bought the deal and I could not get scheduled until about a month out. They were punctual and courteous. They got the job done in about 4 hours.

Although this company did a good job and offered a competitive quote, they were extremely unprofessional and therefore, we would not recommend them. To get the initial quote, they FORGOT(!!) the home visit appointment and we had to call them to let them know we were waiting. When they said that they would call back, the never did, we had to call them instead. They did NOT show up the day the work was scheduled and did NOT have the courtesy to call us and let us know what happened and why they needed to reschedule; we were the ones that ended up calling them back, AGAIN. The work was rescheduled so we ended up taking more time off from work. This was a bad experience mainly due to their lack of professionalism, it seems like they do not understand that clients also have jobs and need to plan ahead for these things.

I called the company before I purchased the deal. I live in a small condominium complex and had a few trees needed cut down. I was told they would honor the deal of one tree and two stumps removed giving an estimate with an additional tree pruning. I was not authorized to spend the amount he was asking and ended up having to come out of my pocket to have the work I initially needed completed.

They didn't show up when they're supposed to. They didn't call. I have taken off from work to be there and then they didn't call that afternoon that they would be there the next morning which I had a time frame. I'd rather have an appointment in the morning. I want to be here when they do the job. When I got back, the job was pretty much done. The crew was reasonable, I didn't have any problems with them doing what the're doing but the timing thing could have been better. They cleaned up themselves and didn't damage other things. They didn't show up when they're supposed to the first time and they showed up when I wasn't here to be here. The crew was good, had no problems with them. They seem to be conscientious about what they're doing.

I contacted Mr. Hall to come out and give us an estimate on the work we wanted performed. He responded immediately and the next day was at our property to give us a free estimate. He then contacted us that evening and also emailed us an itemized written report. The estimated cost was fair and competitive and considerably lower than the quotes we received earlier from two other companies. Once we gave Mr. Hall the go ahead to do the work, he was most considerate of our time and scheduled the work appropriately. The crew that performed the work were knowledgable, professional and extremely polite. They consulted with us every step of the way and once they completed the work they actually checked with us to make sure the work was to our satisfaction - before leaving our property. We were Highly Satisfied by the work performed. The trees were trimmed and shaped with such precision that it looked as if they had transformed naturally. Our property now appears larger and more spaceous with healthy majestic trees - the transformation is amazing! I highly recommend South Eastern VA. Tree Service and Landscaping they are a Top-Notch Company!

Deal was 249 for 500 worth of work. Estimate was 1175, so an additional 675 was due at completion. Showed up quickly after purchase. Took 6 weeks to do the work but we were informed that so many had purchased deal, that the would be awhile We called last week, and they said they were coming this week or next, they showed up this week. Work was completed just after lunch on a really hot day. Clean up was good and acceptable. Will use again for tome additional work that was explained to us.

It was necessary to take down 2 sections of my fence to drop the maple and to provide access to my yard for their equipment. The crew was very careful not to damage the fence when removing and reinstalling the fence sections. Simon did all of the tree climbing and cutting to bring the trees down. He was very careful to make sure his crew was out of the way when dropped limbs and sections of the tree. Simon was very careful not to damage the house or pool equipment or fence as he removed large branches and sections if the trees. He demonstrated a great deal of knowledge and experience as he tied off each branch of the trees so that when it fell it would not damage anything. I watched the entire job as I was concerned because the trees were so close to the pool equipment, fence and house. After the trees were down the crew removed the debris and left the work site clean. They even helped me stack all of the wood after they cut the the maple into fire wood length. The crew was very curtious and professional. I am very happy with the service and will hire them again.

Getting them scheduled was extremely frustrating (seven weeks and three no-shows) - they were obviously overwhelmed with jobs. I buy a lot of Big Deals from Angie's List and I do understand how Big Deals can overwhelm small companies. So I gave them a fourth opportunity. I was blown away by the great service provided by co-owner Simon Dillingham. Very friendly and very professional. He is a joy to work with. Now that I have his direct phone number, I would certainly use him again!

The job went very well. They communicated clearly and were all very respectful throughout the entire job. They came in and prepared the area by removing portions of the fence so as not to damage it. They were very careful while removing, by hand, all the debris from a confined yard. They were safety oriented and efficient in their operation around our home. When they left they had cleaned up and replaced the fence as it was. Leaving us with more sun and less likely to have damages during heavy wind periods. Excellent Customer Service. Highly recommend.

They did a good job. I gave a B on professionalism because I had to put back some heavy items they had moved myself. They also left cigarette butts and wrappers in my yard. I would definitely use them again though. They did a great job and were friendly.

I was very, very pleased with this job! The workers were polite and very hard-working. They took their time to make sure nothing got broken (even saving a nest with eggs in it!) and worked diligently for hours. They went above and beyond what I expected; cleaning all the brush out and removing not only what they created, but the pile of brush that I had at the curb for the city to pick up. They were not able to finish the job in one day, but came back first thing the next morning to finish it. I am extremely happy with the job SEAV did and would recommend them to anyone. I "liked" them on facebook and gave them a great review there as well. I've used several tree services in the past, but this is the company I will call again if needed. Thank-you for a job well done!

Very nice work, would use them again and most likely will later this summer.

South Eastern was very timely and professional. They trimmed the trees that were endangering the new roof that had just been installed on one of my rental properties. They took care to trim the trees back without inflicting damage that would have killed the trees.

I called SEVA to ask if they could provide the service I needed when a Big Deal was available; Mike suggested I might do better on price if I had them do the work without the Big Deal so I had him come to give me an estimate already wondering about the honesty of the company. He visited and said they could remove the many roots which were aboveground in my yard (I hadn't been sure if this might be possible as they weren't stumps) and said he would send an estimate. I got an email but the estimate to be attached wasn't so I sent a reply asking for the estimate. After several days, I sent an email to the company asking for the estimate and was told it would be sent; again, I never received one. I don't know if they decided it wouldn't be ethical to provide an estimate/work separate from the Angie's list Big Deal but I hope so!

Very well, professional execution. They showed up with the right amount of people and equipment.

Two trees require service, but I was only interested in removing one(1)overgrown live tree. I was told that the Back Fence would have to be torn down and that I,the customer will be responsible for the disposal of any & all ground stump debris from that removal. As a Very Senior citizen, how could I accomplish that? I was told that "my partner doesn't like to deal with "dead trees". I said "Then perhaps I should consider someone else". The reply was "Oh,No. We can take care of it. We will give you an estimate on the "Dead Tree" when we come out to service the live Tree. Also, I was advised that there would be a 2% convenience fee if a credit card was used. Are checks still acceptable? - - An Estimate Email was sent to me(Nbr 100293) dated 4/24/2014, but I read on 4/28/2014. 1st download of the Email described "Remove tree in backyard, drill holes and pour diesel in stump, quote other dead tree on". Price $700. Discount $500 (No Tax) - Total $200. I was unable to download & print out the 2nd download of the Email sent to me, so I dont know what it entailed. Was it some sort of ONLINE contract? We older people aren't as as savey using this type of corresponding. Representative was very polite. The issue concerning the tear down of my fence and the subsequent debris cleanup did not go over well with me. This is how I recall the situation. Respectfully, LMW

They came and gave me an estimate. Unfortunately we were unable to agree on an over all price for the service. They were early, polite and professional. I think they have competitive prices, I just did not know what the price would be.

These guys were great to deal with, great service at a great price and very conscientious about their work.

The first contact was for an estimate, to which , which Simon promptly provided. I was taking advantage of a discount and he did not try to up-sell me. Then, we scheduled the work and the team arrived exactly as promised. They worked quickly but safely. They cleaned up thoroughly. All of the three-man team were polite and cheerful, but careful not to endanger their safety by being distracted with non-essential matters. Their major concerns were safety and cleanliness. I will certainly contact them for other work.
