The experience I had with this company was the most miserable experience I've had with a contractor. There was a mistake made on the installation and the air conditioning failed on me that first summer and we had to wait a week to put a new thermo-extension valve in. Everything about it was bad. The installation manager was a wise guy and there was no supervision. The installation was the most amateur thing I had ever seen. Everyone I meet I tell them I will tell you one place not to go. It wasn't cheap. They used the fact that it was energy efficient as an excuse for the high price. When they were installing the piping in my house they drilled right through the foundation and right through the termite shield. To this day the furnace leans like the Tower of Pisa. On the service call they made me wait a whole week and they were supposed to have it done in 24 hours. They had an attitude and they diagnosed the problem wrong. If I didn't know anything about it I would probably think it was okay, but I'm a mechanical engineer so I can detect all of these mistakes. They were responsive in terms of timeliness and they put these little booties over their shoes to make you feel good, but with that one service call they weren't very responsive. Nobody should have to go through that. He had to challenge everything I said. I don't know how other people rate this company, but I can't imagine they are very high up on the marks. Every time I think of this I get steamed up. Another thing they put insulation on the inside of the air boxes that go on the furnace instead of the outside. They never even asked my permission and it was Epoxy, they were in the house and I had an asthma attack. I made them take it out and I never gave them permission to insulate on the inside and I had this horrendous asthma attack so I had to move out of the house for a couple of days until they fixed it. They put these two kids out here to do the work and they were in a huge hurry. Everything they did they were in a huge hurry including the installation manager.

They’re good. They’re very personable. Their technicians are very knowledgeable. They fixed problems that we’ve had in the past without us even asking. They found a gas leak in our attic that we didn’t know about so they probably saved our house from burning down. We have a maintenance agreement with them.

The service people were great, but the installers did a terrible job. The ductwork was not what I had asked for. They left the ductwork open underneath. They left a duct trunk collapsed between the false ceiling and the upper floor. It was not a professional job and it was very unsatisfactory as far as I am concerned. The return was cut to small. The people that come out to service it did fine. I have never had a problem with it, other than the installation, which they came out and corrected. It had a PVC return on it and a drain on it because it does provide a lot of condensation that drains out. They did not cement the PVC in one spot. It has a sensor on it that is supposed to shut off when it gets backed up and it did not shut off and I ended up with water all over the floor in the furnace room. The price was fair enough, it was poor quality work. Travis was the owners son and he had two apprentices, he had them doing work and did not supervise them. I am not happy with them at all. They were going to get it done in one day no matter what and it should have been a two day job. I would not use them again and I would not recommend them to anybody.

To sum everything up... Everyone I talked to from the office personnel, the technician, the consultant and the installation crew were polite and professional. I could tell I was dealing with a company that knew that customer service is the most valuable asset.
Description of Work: Recently my 3-1/2 year old unit went down so I called a new company because I have been dissatisfied with the company that installed... I called MSCO!!! They scheduled my service call around my schedule. the technician diagnosed it as a bad board and made a temporary repair in order to keep us warm until they could get the part. Turns out the system that the other company installed was older then 3-1/2 years, the board was not available and the original company never registered the warranty. They sent out a consultant to discuss my options; he was very knowledgeable and and never pressured me. I opted to go with a new Trane system. MSCO installed the new package system and even made some minor repairs to my duct system!

Everything went well until it was time for heat to go on. Trane factory did not hook up something inside correctly and the compressor did not engage the heating component correctly. It took a couple hours for technician to figure out--had not seen that before. No charge for visit. Since then all has worked well. Our utility bills continue to be low. We appreciate the good service.
Description of Work: Installed new air handler and compressor in the middle of the summer. Our old compressor was broken and because of its age the air handler was not able to be used with the new freon. We had service contract with Mechanical Service. It took about 4 days to order new HVAC. i called around to see how much other companies would charge. Prices were similar.

The installation went very well. MSCO workers were at the house around 8:00 AM Friday morning. They started with the removal of the old system of course, and completed the installation around 3:30PM Friday afternoon. Very pleased with the work they did and the fact that the installers took care not to soil carpets and they cleaned up the work areas inside and outside completely. This is the second whole house system that MSCO has installed in my home, the last one installed in 1995.
Description of Work: Had new Trane 20 SEER heat pump and new whole house air handler installed along with a new high efficiency whole house filter system. Also had a new updated digital thermostat installed with the new system

A crew of four technicians arrived on time and immediately went to work removing the old systems. We were very impressed with how they respected our home and property. Throughout the 2 day install a quality control rep from the company stopped by to check on the progress and to ensure things were going as planned. They covered our carpets and wore protective booties over their shoes. When they placed the three outside units they took the time needed to ensure they were level and straight; the outside units look great. While working inside they never once scratched our walls while moving equipment in or out of our home. The installation took 2 days (quoted as 3 days) and went extremely smooth. The crew was courteous and professional answering any questions we had. When the gas furnace was installed in the garage and reconfigured for better efficiency an additional steel post had to be cemented in to meet code. While performing this task the big drill bit used to cut the hole in the concrete floor broke and instead of stopping the job and returning later another drill bit was delivered to our house by another technician within 10 minutes. After the job was completed the lead installer walked us through the entire install. He explained why and how the equipment was configured, and how we should adjust it so as to get the highest efficiency from it. He programmed our fancy thermostats and showed us how we can see any zone working from any thermostat. He also showed us how to link the thermostats to our Wi-Fi; this enables us to get any updates that TRANE transmits. They left our home as clean as it was when they arrived and yesterday we received a thank you card from them. A top notch job from start to finish.
Description of Work: The removal on three complete 15 year old HVAC systems, two were hybrid (elec/gas); one was a heat pump system. They were replaced with three TRANE XLi 20 heat pumps outside. Inside two of the zones were configured as hybrid systems; one is a standard heat pump system. The inside units were replaced with the following: Zone 1 (hybrid), XC95m variable speed gas furnace. Zone 2, (hybrid) XC80 variable speed gas furnace. Zone 3, HyperionXL air handler. TRANE CleanEffects air cleaners were installed on each system along with XL950 Comfortlink II thermostats.

We have been using Mechanical Service Company (MSCO) to maintain our existing two-zone heating and cooling system for the past 15 years. In addition to providing impeccible maintenance and emergency service, they separately replaced the heating and cooling systems in the first zone (ground floor) a few years ago. As a result, I knew I could expect quality work. I was concerned about price, so I asked for bids from two other companies that were in Angie's List. Both were lower in cost than the initial bid from MSCO, but my wife strongly preferred MSCO due to our previous experience with the company. After I discussed the other bids with Mike Hayes, we agreed upon a price that I could live with. Along with the replacement of the old units, Mike included two years of free service for the new units in the final price. The job was scheduled for within a week of my signing the contract, which pleased me greatly. The technicians arrived exactly on time and immediately set to work. They put down protective sheeting in the work area and traffic areas and wore booties when in my house. The lead technician (Tom) worked in my house when I had the first floor furnace replaced two years ago, and I was very comfortable with him. Tom answered my questions about the old unit and showed me the air intake and main outgoing duct when I asked about some claims that I had heard from other companies. Although I was told by one company that the condensor coil was probably full of mold, Tom showed me the old heat exchanger and A/C coil, which were very clean, with no mold. Also the air intake and discharge were free of alergins or any visible mold. During the installation, a customer appeciation rep came by to make sure I was happy with how things were progressing and leftme his card in case I had any questions or issues. I thought that was a nice touch. The job was completed in a little over four hours. I was very pleased with the entire process. I will definitely use MSCO again.
Description of Work: My house is a large, turn-of-the-century house with a two-zone HVAC system. Mechanical Service Company replaced a 19-year old 3.5 ton Trane air conditioning system and 80,000 BTU gas furnace with new Trane units. The new units are the same capacity as the old ones. In addition, they replaced my old Honeywell thermostat with a new Trane digital thermostat. Upon completion, they cleaned up the work area and hauled off the old equipment. They also obtained a city permit and left me the signed document for when the city inspector comes by to inspect the gas hook-up.

The serviceman showed up on time and I didn't have to take a lot of time off work to receive this service - very important to me. He was also really friendly and polite. When he entered the house, he made sure to wear shoe covers so my floors would stay clean. The problem was out of the ordinary and I was impressed that he figured it out. When it rained, water was dripping steadily from the roof of my shed and freezing into ice inside the outdoor unit. The noise was from the fan blades hitting the ice. He blocked the water and melted the ice in the unit. The noise stopped and everything was fine. He also recommended putting up a gutter or piece of wood to reroute the flow of water from the roof. I did and haven't had a problem since. I bought my HVAC system from MSCO about eight years ago and have been really happy with these folks ever since. I have regular maintenance each year. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a new system or service.
Description of Work: I just had regular maintenance but was reminded of service on my outdoor HVAC unit last winter. My outdoor unit was making really loud noises and I thought it was either the compressor or the fan going out right in the middle of a very cold week. You could hear the loud noise from inside the house.

After they replaced the system in my first home and it operated for 16 years problem free, my first order of business when I bought my new home was to call them in and have them check all my equipment, do a load analysis and get their opinion on my current set-up. I had a home inspector check the systems when we were purchasing the home and he gave them a clean bill of health, but I wanted the experts to check it all again to determine if I could lower my utility costs and increase reliability. From the first person I spoke to when I placed my initial call to the last person I spoke to during the final walk-through I could not have been more impressed with their professionalism, promptness and competence. When the technician arrived to inspect my systems, he was very thorough. He was courteous and took great care to wear boot shields when he was inside the house and clean up any debris left behind from his work. He gave me a complete report on the status of my systems and their current sizing/capacities - including his opinion on how long my current setup would last. I was surprised to hear him only recommend a cleaning and a very small repair. I basically gave them an opportunity to tell me all my equipment required replacement and they were very honest and only recommended what he felt I needed. When I told him I was interested in high-efficiency, state-of-the-art dual fuel systems, he asked a series of questions and explained he was going to work on some options and get back with me in a couple of days. The next day, someone called and asked if I was pleased with the service they provided. What great follow-up and customer care! She also set up an appointment for a salesman to come out again and give me their estimate. I was given three options, ranging from the top-of-the-line super-efficient to a good mid-efficiency compromise. Their salesman explained the benefits and drawbacks of each option to me and answered all my questions. I never felt pressured for a moment - remember, they originally said I would be fine for at least another season with my current equipment. I chose to go with the highest efficiency equipment available for my application. They also provided a very fair estimate for a new tankless water heater and gas piping for my stove (comparable to plumber's estimates). I explained it was not easy for me to take time away from my job (I am in the military), so I asked if they could perform all the work in a single day and they assured my they could. I was a little skeptical because they were replacing two entire systems, a water heater and running a bunch of gas piping. They day of the install, they arrived within five minutes of the promised time with four trucks and two full crews. I was shocked they were able to put so much attention on my home - try that with a "one man and a van" operation! They were all wearing uniforms and laid down plastic barriers on all my carpet. What a well supervised crew. I could not resist asking a bunch of questions as they worked and even though they were very busy and working against a tight deadline they always stopped and took the time to answer my questions. In addition to the two crews changing my systems they brought a plumber and an electrician. Mid-way through the day another gentleman stopped by to check on me. He asked if I was satisfied and if his folks were doing anything I did not understand or was concerned about. It was a very nice touch to have someone like him come by and check on a homeowner when the home is going through so much at once. I felt if I was worried about them he would have immediately addressed my concerns. Of course, my curiosity earlier and their great installation crews meant I had no concerns. When the job was complete, totally cleaned up and fully tested (almost two hours ahead of the promised time) , the lead installer walked me through every bit of their work and explained exactly what was done. He then spent nearly an hour with me explaining how to use my new thermostats and showing me all the new features of my systems. I could not be more satisfied with their efforts. A few days later I received another follow-up phone call and about a week after that I was asked to set up a time so a technician could give my systems a check up. When he was finished he called me at work and told me everything was running fine and asked, yet again, if I had any questions. I received my first utility bills since the install this week and that is what compelled me to finally write this review. Despite record high temperatures this month, my electric and gas bills are barely a third of what they were the previous month. My home is cool and comfortable and the humidity level is around 45%. The endless hot water is also fantastic! On a side note, the inspectors came out the following day to inspect the work, so I know the permitting was in place and all work was done to code. To be perfectly honest, I did not get additional quotes for the work they performed this time, but the truth of the matter is it does not really matter. Real value is not just what you stroke the check for - it is the peace of mind knowing you are dealing with an established group of professionals that treat you well, care about their customers and will be there if you need them (although 16 years on my previous system is great reliability). I would, and do so quite frequently, HIGHLY recommend MSCO to anyone!
Description of Work: - New gas piping for additional furnaces, tankless water heater and stove. Two systems: 1. New package unit (heat pump and gas furnace back-up). 2. New high efficiency heat pump and back up gas furnace. - Tankless water heater conversion. - New duct work as required to balance the systems. - New programmable, internet connected thermostats. - New equipment foundations and new electrical connections.

Over the past 15 years MSCO has continued to provide us top notch professional service. They are on time every time and always fix the problem right the first time. The technician who came out to look at our system presented a neat appearance and really knew his stuff. He diagnosed the problem quickly and called the shop and had the part delivered in 15 minutes, installed it and all was well again. Next month we are going to have the units replaced by MSCO (average life of a unit is 11-14 years) we don't want to wait until we need new systems because of a costly failure when it is 99 degrees or 20 degrees. I will continue to use MSCO for all our HVAC needs.
Description of Work: Called for service for one of our 3 TRANE units that MSCO installed 15 years ago. MSCO came out the same day (it was 98 degrees so they were busy) and replaced a fan motor. Even though they were swamped with calls they came out that day because we are a regular customer on their ESA program, a program which provides service every 6 months to ensure things are working well.

They keep the appointments set and when something comes up they call. They are very dependable and will use them for years to come. Let me add for anybody who may read this that I also used to work for a service company and sometime things happen and the technician may be running late, it happens. If your going to deal with any service company you need to be understanding. As long as you get a call that they are running late just chill, things happen. You can't go wrong hiring this company.
