The "handyman" who was sent out to work at our home was nice enough but didn't know how to caulk. The house looks terrible and we have to live with it. I fell for their "special coupon" and the service reflected the poor quality of the work. He also applied the garage door weather stripping poorly. I called the office and someone came out to cut off the extra length that was pulling the weather stripping off the door. Now it is pulling away from the door because the screws are not holding it on. I would never call this company again.

Sorry for your experience , I would like to remind you this job was performed a year ago and time does change the affect of some jobs. I was the person who came out to your house, the same day and met with your wife. I adjusted the weatherstripping and checked the caulking. The job was approved by your wife and the caulking was fine at that time. We also returned and installed ceiling fans at a later date and I trust that job was satisfactory. Our Policy is always to try to satisfied our customers, This is the first time I am hearing that you where not happy about a job we performed one year ago.

Mike was on time to review the work to be preformed and give me an estimate. they offered a much lower price than the other 6 companies i contacted. even though it took me a couple weeks to get back too them, they were able to start work immediately, and finished the job in just a day.i am very pleased with the work they preformed and they left no mess behind. i would definitely use them again should the need arise, great job!

Member, sorry you found it necessary to rate us unfavorable. I know we had many discussions regarding the pricing of this project prior to us performing your work. You had the option of not having us do the work and maybe find someone cheaper. I do have to say that the way you have written your review is somewhat misleading. The estimate was for 1283.60 which included materials. It was not $1200.00 plus materials. And then you where given a coupon credit for $712.00. Your out of pocket was $571.60 not $1200.00. To be clear you agree up front to the amount of $571.60 and that is the amount you where charged. I do not understand why you would rate us so poorly when all we did was performed as promised and charge the agree to price. Mike Esposito

Home Solutions was good. We used him only once and are thinking about calling him because there's a couple of other things that we would like to have done and installed. They're close and are not far from here. He came over and gave us an estimate, we called and set up a date, and he ordered the stuff for us. He provided the bars and everything and they were really sturdy. I said if we were going to pay to do them then we should have them done right because they had to go into tile, but behind the tile was wallboard so they had to hit a beam and all that stuff. He gave us an Angie's List discount. He did mortar work in three different areas of brick on the outside and then they installed four of the bars. The one in the tub is really long and the one in my shower is long. They also installed another bar so you won't slip getting into the tub, so that was four things that they did in my bathroom and we thought the price was reasonable. He was available, prompt, and they came when they said they would. They did a good job and they laid stuff all down in my bathroom and there was nothing left in the tub or the shower. There was nothing on the floor and they were clean workmen and that was good. We really like Mike and the other young men that was with him that did the brick work and things like that. We're definitely going to use them again and my husband has already put them on our list. I would recommend this company to my neighbors.

We had purchased a second house within the past year. It is a mother/daughter layout, and until recently we had assumed both sides of the house shared a water heater. Unfortunately, we discovered that that was not the case, when the "mother's" side of the house lost its hot water and we were unable to locate the tank. After a few days of investigation we were able to locate the unit, which was boxed in to the void corner of our built in cabinetry. Several plumbers, and handymen, had indicated that they have never seen anything like it before and were concerned that if they tried to access it through the countertop or cabinetry, they would have to replace the whole line of cabinets (because they are one-piece & built-in). Very frustrating! In order to avoid this, Home Solutions agreed to go through the outside wall of the house, so that the plumber could access the heater from the back side. This was a cheaper solution then possibly having to replace the cabinetry. Once open, a header was put in place to secure the opening and the area was prepped for easy access for the plumber. After the heater was replaced, Home Solutions returned to close up the hole, seal it and replace the siding. Mike, the owner, and the whole team at Home Solutions, were very helpful and professional. Having been out of the area at the time, they had successfully coordinated most of the job through my family members without a problem. Home Solutions met all our expectations. Their professionalism and communication made a very difficult situation a little less frustrating.
Description of Work: A hole was cut in the outside wall of an addition to open access to hidden hot water heater. The hole was then built out for access door. Home Solutions returned after heater had been replaced, closed the hole and reinstalled siding.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU HAVE A SIGNIFICANT JOB THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE AND DO NOT AGREE ON A QUOTE OVER THE PHONE. I was tremendously overcharged for a 10 minute job. All that was needed was for two closet doors to be adjusted back on track. The first appointment had to be rescheduled since Home Solutions was running 2-3 hours late and could not make it to the original scheduled timeframe. I was given a quote over the phone, first I had heard of quotes over the phone, then was told the amount could possibly be less or more depending on the work needed to be done and materials needed. This was false, I was told after the job was completed that $185 is the minimum charge. The handyman came over, made a few minor adjustments in 10 minutes, used no materials besides a small piece of wood and a screwdriver and I was charged $185. By the way, they forgot to give me the Angie's List discount and/or Armed Forces discount, so now they are mailing me a check for the 15% difference. I will NOT call these guys again unless it is a big job that would be worth more than $185, but even then I may not. Had I known what was wrong, it is something I or a teenage kid could of done for free.

Member was quoted our minimum charge of $185.00. That $185.00 covers up to 2hrs or any part of the two hours. The customer was supplied a written estimate and agreed to the charges. We performed the work he requested and presented the invoice as estimated. While we might of only worked for 30 minutes, there is still the travel expense, the set up time and the clean up time . That is the reason we have a Minimum charge. Member did not present the Angie's List coupon and therefore it was not deducted. Member call our customer service department and explained his displeasure with the charges. We mailed him a refund check for the Angie's list coupon of $18.50. We again explained our Minimum charges to the customer. If a customer does not agree with our min charges they can always decline our services. Like any company we have expenses and payroll and we base our charges on our costs and profits. Of course I am sorry Member does not feel our services where worth the agreed to amount. To restate Member was charged $166.50 which is below our minimum charge and it is what he agreed to.

We at Home Solutions value all of our customers' input. We thank you for taking the time to let us know what we do right and of course if did something wrong we want to know that as well. Mrs. Dreyfus, purchased a Living Social coupon for $50.00 which entitled her to two hours of our services. The time starts when we arrive at the customers home and ends two hours later. In some cases as in this one all of the customers projects can not be completed in the two hours which was purchased. Of course the customer could extend our stay at our normal rate after the two hours. If there was a misunderstanding we are sorry . We will make an effort to be sure customer understand the value of the coupon in the future.

Mike Esposito, the owner, arrived on time to review the work we wanted done. A very nice gentlemen who provided some insights and recommendations. As scheduled the next day, I received a written estimate (via email which saves a lot of time). I called and talked to Mary (co-owner) to find out if the Angie's List coupon had been applied. It had not. A new price was quoted over the phone which I agreed to. I returned the signed contract with Angie List coupon (via email) and Mary scheduled the work for the next day and she told me that I would be called at 0800 the next day to find out who would be coming over and schedule a time for the work. Promptly at 0800, Trey called telling us that Mike and James would be over between 0830-0930. James arrived promptly at 0830, evaluated his portion of the work (the brickwork), and immediately began working. He told me Mike had stopped to buy hardware and Mike showed up shortly after and began work on his portion of the work. Things went smoothly and everything was completed within a couple of hours. For the work done inside, tarps were laid on the bathroom floors as well as tub bottom and shower floor (making my wife very happy). After finishing the tub and shower, Mike policed up his work, explained what had been done, and left. James completed the brickwork and cleaned up what little (and I mean very little) debris there was. James and Mike were appropriately dressed and had everything they needed to do the work when they arrived. They were both polite, cheerful, courteous, and answered all my questions about the work. Mike and James did an outstanding job on all the work and it looks great. I will definitely use Home Solutions for any future work. I have had a lot of work done in and around the house in the last 30+ years and Home Solutions (House Doctors) has moved into the top company we have worked with and the first one we will call in the future.

I spoke to a woman in the office and described the job I wanted done, and the steepness of the roof. She called back the next day with an estimate and I accepted. We arranged for the work to be done on a certain day.On the morning of the day they were to do the job it had started to rain. They called to see if it was very wet. They decided to do the work because, they found a way to secure themselves on the roof. In about an hour all the work was complete. He showed me how to adjust the thermostat too.

Handyman 1 was on time and professionally dressed. He started on the window job, and when he was halfway done, Handyman 2 showed up. The two of them finished up the window job. There was some confusion about whether they were to paint the new sill. Handyman 3 arrived and began to repair the faucet, while handyman 1 left. Handyman 2 replaced the wood siding and painted the window sill. Handyman 3, perhaps the least professional of the crew, did not have a T wrench to turn off the water. He then replaced the spigot, but did not want to fasten the faucet handle to the spigot with a screw. With some pleading on my part, he finally found a screw and fastened it. He then finished painting the sill and replacing the shingle. In the end, there is minor damage to the frame of the window, which wasn't painted over, and there are gaps in the painting near the storm window frame, as the frame was put on first and then the sill painted. They did leave a pint of paint with me, which was nice, so I can touch it up myself, and they did match the color well. Everyone was polite, but I did feel that the mix-and-match handymen caused some confusion, and the third handyman definitely was not of the same caliber as the other two.

They are great. They aren't the cheapest but you can count on them and if you have a problem they are back the next day to fix it with no questions asked. I've been using them at least once a year for the last five years. They are value priced, they show up on time, the work is performed "as discussed", and they clean up after themselves.
Description of Work: I use them pretty much exclusively. They have done everything from caulking windows to replacing interior doors as well as painting. They also repair water damage and fix gutters. They can perform just about any exterior/interior work you might want. I've also used them for plumbing.

The House Doctors rep was pleasant and professional and we are quite satisfied with his work. They did everything they said they would do, and on time.
Description of Work: My rear exterior door, leading onto my deck, had some rot at the bottom of the brick mold. Additionally, the paint was peeling from the mold as well as from the door jamb. The House Doctors rep removed the old molding, scraped the peeling paint. replaced the molding with the newer PVC type, caulked around all of his work, and then repainted the entire work surface area. Additionally, the exterior light by that rear door was not working. He took it apart and determined the the sensor (dusk to dawn) was defective. I asked him to just remove the sensor so that we can operate the light just from the switch. He was able to do that. He was here about 4 hours.

This was an outstanding experience. I signed up for 8 hours of labor on an Angie's Big Deal. Deborah called me the next day to set an appt and get project list. It took me a while to get a list together, and when I called with final my list, Deborah had notes from our previous discussion. We set on a date. She told me that she would call the morning of the appointment at 8 am and let me know when to expect the handyman. Deborah called as promised and told me Michael would be on his way. Michael showed up on time. He was very professional, courteous and efficient. We walked through the house and discussed the projects. Michael prioritized the order and went to work. Projects were expertly and very efficiently done without cutting quality. Nicely done! When Michael checked the plumbing job and explained the situation - could fix the problem but needed the right parts which I didn't have. I asked if he could patch the hole in the kitchen ceiling instead. For some reason, I inexplicably forgot to add that to my project list provided to Deborah and I wanted the ceiling hole fixed more. As stated above, he obtained permission to fix the ceiling and did an awesome job! I definitely will use House Doctors again.
Description of Work: -Removed old range hood and installed new range out (out of the box). -Removed old bathroom light and installed new light. Installed bulbs. -Mounted existing external light on vinyl siding mount (removed fixture, installed mount, reinstalled fixture). -Assessed a botched plumbing installation where the sink pop-up does not fit because a component was shortened too much. I didn't have the right parts on hand so I asked Michael to patch the ceiling instead. He called his supervisor regarding the job switchout and told me he could do it. - Patched hole in ceiling left by removal of light. Cut drywall (I had on site) to fit hole, mounted to support and compounded the patch. Smoothed it so it was barely noticeable (except for the color of the patch).

All of the work was extremely neat and professional. No bother or mess for us. Required absolutely no clean-up on our part. We were very pleased, particularly since this was the second time we had dealt with this identical issue. The first company diagnosed the program as a faulty joint in a fitting below the commode and repaired that but did not mention the wax ring. We're not sure if it was examined at that time for a leak. it is possible that a new leak developed, though we doubt it. After about three years, when stains appeared again, and since the guarantee on the first job had expired, we decided to go with another company and see what was up. This time we are confident the repair is permanent. Every promise made was fulfilled from the first contact until the completion of the job.
Description of Work: Correctly located and repaired a leak from an upstairs bathroom (turned out to be a toilet wax ring leak) that had stained the ceiling below (two stains each about the size of a quarter). Also removed and replaced the stained ceiling drywall (a patch about 8" X 10") including the necessary structure to properly attach the patch.

Got a quote on bathroom ventilation - scheduled the job - got a call the day the work was suppose to be done and they asked if I had the ducting for the fans and if i didn't there would be an additional charge. I agreed to buy the fans prior to quote, HOWEVER, ...I asked during the "QUOTE" process if this would be ventilated outside and they said "YES" I assumed this "DUCTing" was included in the original quote. The phone lady Deborah is quite nice (mostly). The Worker Mike is unpleasant.

We quoted this customer new installation of bath exhaust fans. Customer advised she would purchase the materials. Our quote clearly states" customer to supply all materials" Customer asked if our quote included venting the fans to the outside. We advised customer that the code did require the fans to be vented to the outside and we would vent them. Customer agreed to our terms and scheduled the job. The day of the job, we called to confirm our arrival time and that all materials where at the job. At this point customer advised she did not have the venting materials and would not purchase them or pay us to purchase them. We explained that our quote was labor only as stated on our estimate. Customer then canceled the job.

Description of Work: Requested to have an estimate for remodeling closet and completing conversion of garage. Both projects estimated to cost $1500 each. The garage conversion is a project for later on (likely fall/winter). However, closet is a project I'd like to have completed soon. Unfortunately, the cost is more than my budget will allow at this time. Therefore, I'll have to develop an alternative for this project.

Mike showed up on time to give an estimate for drywall repair, replace a french door, and build a deck railing. I decided to go with the french door and deck railing. He gave a quote and a start date. Showed up on time on the start date. It took less than a day to have the railing built and door installed. The railing looked excellent when finished. The installation of the door was excellent. The only issue was the old door hardware did not match up with the new door holes so I had to go purchase new handles and locks. They offered to do it for an additional charged but I decided I would do it myself. Final price was as quoted and they honored the angie's list discount coupon. Overall I would hire this company again to do future work.
Description of Work: Had a lattice wood railing built for an upstairs deck. Had an old french door taken out and new one put in.

replacement windows

In March of 2007 had we 17 windows replaced in our house. 6 of the windows have lost the seal between the glass panes and the argon/krypton gas escaped. There is now severe discoloration between the panes and they have lost their energy efficiency. I contacted Mike Esposito, the owner of House Doctor's at his office on 2625 Production Road in Virginia Beach, VA. At the time he installed my windows in 2007 he was doing business under the name of "Window Depot" at the same address with the same phone number (757) 306-4748. The phone number (757) 306-0500 rings to the same location as well. At the time I purchased my windows Mike Esposito provided me with a written lifetime warranty, including glass breakage, under the business name of Window Depot. Unfortunately, Mike explained to me that as he is no longer doing business under the name of Window Depot, he will not honor the warranty. The primary reason I gave my business to Mike Esposito's company was because of the warranty. It is disappointing he will not stand behind the warranty. I have since learned that Mike Esposito is doing business under a number of business names. Based on an internet search I located the following business names with Mike as the principal, operating at 2625 Production Road: Windowizards Virginia Windows Home Solutions House Doctors Virginia Vinyl Siding Virginia Awnings Virginia Green Homes If having a warranty is important to you, I caution that you carefully consider using any of the companies listed above as your warranty may not be honored by the owner should he choose not to operate under that business name any longer....
