Arrived on time, did what was committed to, cleaned up. Overall excellent job.

Jimmy was very easy to works with. All repairs were completed as requested. Workmanship was outstanding. We would strongly recommend GHI to other homeowners looking for repairs.

Jim contacted me and worked with my renters at their convenience. He provided me pictures, and got to work. He did a superb job all around, and we are confident his expert craftsmanship will serve us well into the future.

Beautiful work! Would definitely recommend Jim to friends and family. Will use him in the future for another one of my "projects"!

I requested estimates from 3 companies in February. As luck would have it, a number of snow days delayed 2 of the companies. Mr. Koehler was the only one that braved the icy streets to offer the estimate. I was impressed with his professionalism and the detailed proposal which included doors and trim. Work was performed as scheduled. Mr. Koehler even furnished the dead bolts and door knobs, something I had not expected. The finished product was superior. Caulk was generously applied and door frames built up to accomodate new doors. Mr. Koehler did an excellent job of cleaning. At the end of the job, there was no sign that any construction work has occurred. I am extremely pleased with the job and happy with my brand new doors.

Kept telling me he was a master carpenter, said it was a big job, but said he could do it, but never came back with an estimate or any further contact. Seemed like a nice guy, but not helpful when trying to actually get a job done.

He was on time, willing to work around our schedules, and completed the job in a morning/afternoon.

Jim did a great job and helped work around several issues with the doors I ordered from Lowes (I do not recommend them). Before starting the job he came to the house to remove trim and make sure the size and framing were as expected. He was able to replace the doors but leave the transom lights in place, which other contractors wanted to replace (for more money). I will use him in the future but will order doors through him, not Lowes.

Jim was wonderful. Jim is honest, hard-working and very, very professional. In addition to all these qualities, he is a Master Craftsman. Several repair men who came to the house over the weeks Jim was working remarked on the quality of his carpentry. He had to recreate the curved decorative molding above the double doors of my Georgian home and he did an outstanding job. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Jim came out to my house and measured the door that I wanted to replace and then verified that the door I wanted from Home Depot would fit in opening. He let me know that it could be up to a week before he could install the door but that he would call a few days prior to ensure that the install date would meet my schedule. I was pleasantly surprised when he called and said that he could work my job into his schedule earlier than anticipated. Jim arrived promptly on the day and time promised and quickly installed the new door which included replacing the interior trim work. We are very satisfied with his work and would highly recommend him.

Mr. Koehler did exactly what he said he was going to do. He brought everything he needed. He is prompt and very efficient. The work was very well done, it is obvious that he takes pride in his craftsmanship . He left my yard completely cleaned up. He could not have been more friendly, polite, or professional. I would definitely ask him back. In fact I have already asked him to return to do a possible vinyl siding/roof leak. He is coming to look at it tomorrow. I feel secure that he will and that everything will be done just right. Honest price and honest work!

Jim Koehler was able to restore the windows to their original condition. It is indeed rare to find this kind of talent. Jim is an artisan. He reminded us of perfectionists who are not satisfied until the work is done to their standard. Not just good enough. He is not in a hurry. He is very methodical and his vast expertise is evident. We could not tell our current windows from the repaired one. We highly recommend him, especially if your job requires perfection in carpentry. He saved us thousands of dollars.

We needed all of our old interior doors replaced and got 4 different estimates from companies on Angie's list. Based on prior Angie's list reviews, we were comfortable with Jimmy and the quality of his work and he provided us with the best priced estimate so we decided to go with him. He came out promptly to give the estimate and was able to begin the work and complete it in an agreed on and timely manner. He worked with us to obtain the door handles and hardware that we selected and didn't charge us extra for it even though it was a little more than he had estimated for. The job was also a lot of work for him to do alone as he had to carry the doors in and out of the house multiple times to cut and mill them outside. Despite being such a tedious job, he completed the work professionally, timely, and with a good attitude. The new doors look great and they open and close perfectly! We are very pleased with the work and have already discussed future projects with him that we want him to complete. I feel comfortable and confident with recommending Jimmy to complete a variety of home improvement projects!

We found Jimmy via Angie's List and he came out to take a look. He advised us not to cut into the subfloor, but he did cut a large enough hole in the ceiling for the plumber to work in the area. Then he decided to see what was happening with the leak. He noticed that it was not the pipe leaking but rather water was running down along the pipe when the shower was turned on. It turned out that water from the shower head was running down the wall and getting into the space between the faucet handles and the wall. We did not bother to call the plumber back and asked Jimmy to cover the hole with an access panel rather than plaster. He made the access panel with trim to match our ceiling. I was glad that he hesitated to cut the subfloor and glad that he figured out what the plumber could not, saving us costly structural repairs and additional plumber charges. He also fixed our front storm door.

.The job went well. Jimmy arrived on time and worked straight through the six hours it took to complete the job. Jimmy removed the screen door, the inside door, and the door frame on both doors. Previously, the frame had not been secured properly in the rough opening. After several adjustments, Jimmy was finally able to get the frame completely into the opening. Both doors required modifications to the opening and frame so they would fit properly. It was a tedious process, but Jimmy was able to accomplish a good result and big improvement over the previous installation.

Jim did very high quality, challenging exterior carpentry work on rather short notice, but he was supposed to return to do some minimal additional handyman items and never called back and never came back, though some of the additional items were prepaid in the same context (minimal additional expense) as the carpentry work which had been quoted. I would hire him again in a heartbeat to do high-quality carpentry work, but I'm not sure he is up to the task of calling himself an all-purpose handyman. All in all, I was pleased.

All work was performed on on-time and within budget.

He has been working for me for four or five years. He is a great guy, and he does great work. He is very good with carpentry. He is dependable and responsive.

Overall the experience went very well. Jim, the owner, is an excellent carpenter. I wasn't too concerned about him replacing the pantry door but the fact that a door was being built in an open area did slightly concern me. The opening was about 90and quot; high so a transom had to be built with a glass insert. He did such a great job installing that door that you would think it was always there. I am very pleased with his carpentry work. He was prompt answering phone calls and he completed the job in three days. I supplied the doors and the paint. The only complaint I had was on the second day he expected to be finished with the job. I had an errand to do so I left him a check for the job and he was going to finish up the caulking and painting and then leave. When I arrived home, I was surprised to see that the paint job looked awful and paint was left around the glass to be scraped. The two doors are glass with wood trim. I couldn't understand why he would do that after doing such a fine job with the carpentry. When I called him for an answer, he seemed slightly annoyed and I almost felt like he expected me to scrape the glass deal with the paint. He did suggest a couple of times during conversations that painting wasn't his strong point. Finally, he mentioned that the paint my son-in-law picked up was not a good quality. I told him I would go out to the store and get some better paint and he agreed to come back after the Labor Day Weekend. With that, he did a much more professional job and now I am satisfied.

Jim arrived as soon as the weather permitted (it rained for a week). He properly assessed the damage and the scope of the project, gave us an estimate and stuck to it. There were no surprises! He spent two days working the job. He was respectful of our home and the workmanship was self evident of the pride he he takes in being a master carpenter. Jim was fully insured and licensed. We are very pleased with his work and will be using him again for future projects.
