Jim does excellent work. He’s on time, courteous, and cleans up after himself. His prices are reasonable and he’s professional.

Jimmy communicates well and does top notch, high quality work. He stands behind his work and has been excellent in helping us maintain our 1911 home. He does beautiful custom carpentry and wood work. We have used him for several projects over the past few years, including a bath renovation and have been very pleased with the outcomes. We plan on continue to use him and he is also trustworthy.

I called Jimmy to get a quote and he came out the next day. He was able to quickly determine what needed to be done and offered a very reasonable quote. He started work the following day as agreed and finished on schedule. He did an excellent job and there were no surprise costs. Professional from start to finish. I have him scheduled to return for another project at my home and will be hiring him again for other work at my mother's house.

Jimmy came out and was very personable. Spent 10 minutes looking at the job, and then promised a quote. I called back two weeks later and he mumbled something and promised a quote. Two weeks later and nothing. If you are too busy - just say so - don't string customers along so you have business down the road. My doorway is completely nonfunctional and I expressed a need for some speed. I really would far rather have written a review about the great work - but I am searching for a new contractor. It usually takes 4-10 weeks to get a custom door in, so now I am looking at January/February rather than December like we would have been talking if I had gotten some timely responses. I have no idea how good his work is - for those who eventually do get serviced it seems like it was acceptable. I do notice all the good reviews are WELL over a year old... he was actually a really nice guy. Hate writing these reviews - but I would hate it even more if I am waiting here because other people had the same experience and decided not to share... I think the "fair" rating of 3 is a early Christmas gift given my experience. Essentially - nothing has been done on my project for nearly six weeks while I waited for... nothing

Excellent. Jim Koehler is a skilled master carpenter who did a high-quality crown molding installation in four bedrooms on time (as promised) and at a very reasonable cost. I would highly recommend him for any skilled carpentry job requirements.

Jimmy did a great job! He was out in an hour to give me a quote and started the next day. It was a difficult job and he did it no problem. Also, he was able to coordinate with a plumber he recommended to replace piping I needed replaced. Will definitely be calling him for future jobs.

Jimmy is truly master carpenter. Finished closet floating floor, added quarter round, finished outside 45 degree jitters, installed 72 “inch mirror slided doors. The whole job was first class. Jimmy has done work before and he is the one to choose.

Great job! Very satisfied. Professional attitude and did things right. Work involved high work on 2 story house, but was all small jobs, which these days it is difficult to find someone willing to accomplish. Jim came with needed tools, equipment and material, and knew how to properly use same. Worked safely. Careful to not cause damage to gutters or shingle overhang. To save the owner money, owner provided lumber, moulding, and/or repair pieces. Jim knew just what and how to do what I needed done and did not waste provided material. It was noteworthy was that he wasn't on his cell phone every few minutes. I appreciated that because most contractors I've observed in the last 2 decades spend half their time when on the job on their cell phone -- not thinking about getting the job at hand done, and done right. Stuck to estimate quoted and didn't try to "pad" the fee.

After a lightning strike damaged a significant portion of our vinyl siding, General Home Improvement provided fast and cost effective repairs. A job that other contractors said would take a week or more took 3 days. As well, GHI was able to do repairs instead of complete replacement, showing a skill level that others did not seem to possess.

Another outstanding job by Jim! The back deck was in desperate need of repairs and needed to be taken care of ASAP, as the house was about to be listed. Jim rearranged his schedule to fit me in almost immediately. He replaced pieces of the deck, power washed, scraped, sanded, and stained the back deck. His attention to detail was very apparent. The deck went from an eyesore to looking almost new within a matter of hours. It looks amazing! He also hung a storm door for me on the back porch. Will definitely keep his number close by for any future projects and will highly recommend him to anyone needing a true professional.

Jim was great. We had a lot of little projects that needed finishing up as well as a few larger ones and he took care of them all. Quality work; quick service. We extended the scope of the initial project with him because of speed and quality of the initial work done.

BETTER than Great Job! I have used him before and will use again if any future projects. He is the best Carpenter I have ever dealt with. He does a great job! He communicates quickly and with professionalism. He does professional grade work with framing, building, door hanging installation, sheet rock, trim... I have recommended him to family and friends. He goes above and beyond in his work and has very fair pricing.

The best way to describe Jimmy is that he’s “good people”. He’s honest, friendly, punctual, trustworthy, responsive, professional, and detail-oriented. He takes a lot of pride in his work and it shows in everything he does. He treated the work he did for us, like he was doing it in his own house. We’re very pleased with the work he did for us and we’ll be using him on multiple home improvement projects going forward.
