+ -1 moreThe breaker (?) for the outlet in my bathroom kept resetting. I can rewire an outlet or switch, hang a simple light fixture and so on. This was way beyond my comfort zone. So I checked Angie's list, and found that this company's reviews topped everyone else. I talked with Mr. Cole, but unfortunately he was unable to fit me in (perhaps Hurricane Sandy created a mess). Anyway, Scott gave me the number for David Jernigan. The referral to Mr. Jernigan worked out very well, and I finally have an electrician to add to my list!!! Mr. Jernigan's review is on his section. It's great when companies take the time to give you an option when they aren't available. Especially, as their reputation too is on the line. Oh and for the record-Mr. Jernigan speaks very highly of Mr. Cole's company!

Description of Work: We originally had Cole Electric come to our house to install a ceiling fan in our bonus room. They did that in no time making that room so much more comfortable and attractive to everyone in the house. While they were here, the technician mentioned that we could install an external power source for our generator that would provide a direct link to the breaker box without having to run yards of extension cords the next time we needed our generator. We elected to do just that and they installed a breaker panel and external plug to match our generator's power supply. With the hurricane coming this weekend, we are now confident that we will be able to live comfortably if and when the power goes out for several days. Not only did they install the panel and outdoor plug, but Scott has patiently walked us through the process of how to work it by sending us written instructions and going over the process patiently on the phone while we stood in front of the breaker panel box to make sure that we understood how to use our system. We do plan to upgrade in the near future to a more powerful generator which will require some minor modifications to this system. But we definitely know who we will be calling to do the work!!! Everyone that we worked with at Cole Electric was courteous, prompt and thorough. In addition, we were especially impressed by the fact that every time we called we actually got Scott Cole to answer the phone instead of some voice recording telling us that they would get back to us! Very consumer friendly, knowledgeable company...they will be on my speed dial for electrical needs in the future!!

Arrived at 7:30am, completed the requested work in less than 30 minutes. I was also having problems with a ight fixture in the Kitchen and they took care of this too during the appointment. The two gentlemen who came were very courteous, attentive and extrmely professional. i wold certainly use Cole's again for any electrical work.

I had tried to install an exhaust fan myself, but decided to have them put them both in. I am so glad I did. I now officially recognize I am not an electrician and to hire Cole again if I need one.

Description of Work: I had a great experience with Cole, from the owner to the guys that showed up on site. They ran an electrical line for my sauna. I was told when I purchased the sauna that it required a 240 connection, however the guys on site reviewd the components and were confused by the information in the manual and the physical set up. The took the time to call the manufacturer of the sauna (multiple times) to confirm it was really a 110/20-amp connection. The owner called to ensure I was satisfied. I can't tell you all how wonderful it was to have this level of service!!!!

+ 0 moreWe purchased an old house and the electrical wiring had several layers of work, lot's of lights out throughout the house. Mr. Cole was able to schedule us within a couple days and had a team of electricians come to the house. They were punctual, polite and very very professional. Handing us their cards as they introduced themselves. They did not dally in anyway, were respectful of our things (which was difficult as we were moving into the house and things were everywhere.) They were also very mindful of the pets and young children keeping them safe while they worked and communicating with us. They also picked up after themselves!!!! And they did figured out the problems and we have lights!

That same morning, Mason and Steven arrived and found that the 300 watt bulb that I had used in my lamp post caused the plastic globe to melt a hole in the top which was letting rain come through and shorting out the bulbs. They also found that my under cabinet kitchen lights have incorrect wiring being used, and that the transformer used for our outdoor lights wasn't powerful enough causing the bulbs to burn out. We also had a patio light that kept burning out bulbs and they found that the base was bent causing it it short out. I purchased a new lamp post topper, new light strip for under cabinet, and a new transformer that day and they returned the following day to complete the work. All appears to be working fine thanks to the great team of Mason and Steven.
Description of Work: I decided to have Cole Electric take care of all my electrical problems around the house. Scott Cole returned my call promptly and sent mason and Steven. Replaced under cabinet light strip in kitchen ( they also found incorrect wiring and replaced with correct wire) replaced outside lamp post topper and replaced several worn outlets. Our outdoor step lights kept burning out and they found that the transformer wasn't strong enough and replaced with a new one. They also adjusted a bent light fixture base that was causing bulbs to burn out in an outdoor wall light. We were very pleased with their service and would definitely use them again.

+ -1 moreWork was handled very professionally, and they were able to hit it the day they came to do the estimate. Workmanship was first rate, and they were able to handle everyhing on the list in one day. The ceiling fans did not get relocated and installed, based on a concern about the clearance for the new fan. This was discussed after they started work, and I appreciate the attention given to this detail, even if we wanted the new fan installed. Better to have brought up the concernthan gone ahead and been unhappy with the result. Frankly, just getting the old fan repowered has been a blessing because we've been without power to that fan for several months.
Description of Work: Had a "list" of various items. These included adding some exterior outlets for future landscape lighting, installing four light fixtures, investigating a circuit on which lights were flickering, repowering a ceiling fan for which an earlier closet remodel had impacted the electrical feed, relocating a ceiling fan and installing a new ceiling fan.

They were here on time and replaced my breakers quickly. They even caulked around my outside outlets for me at no charge. The electricians who came were friendly, personable and VERY knowledgeable. The next time I need electrical work, I am calling Cole Electric.

+ -1 moreWe had been living without the use of our outdoor outlets for awhile but when we began to have flickering lights and the electrical box was making a crackling noise we decided to call in Cole Electric. They were here at 8am the next morning; extremely polite with smiles on. They went to work right away and had the outdoor electrical fixed in good time by replacing a faulty outlet. They inspected the box and found the cause of the discomforting noise and then went on to trace out another problem we were having in the house. They did an excellent job and I will definitely recommend them! A+

The techs were very courteous and professional. The job was done in less than one hour. + -1 moreMy call to Cole Electric was taken by Scott Cole. After going over problem with Mr. Cole, he had several suggestions that I may find to my advantage to try before paying for a service call. After trying said suggestions, I called Mr. Cole back with the negative results. He then said that he would then send someone to work on problem. Being a Saturday I had no idea that service would be available on such short notice, but within 1/2 hour I was contacted by tech, and as he promised he arrived at my house within 20 min. In about one hour from start to finish the problem was found, repaired, and job site cleaned up. To find such a business that first of all tries to help the home owner without creating a service charge, and then to be a company that performs in such a professional manner is just beyond expectations this day in time. I assure you that Cole Electric is #1 on my list for any other electrical work be it in my home or any other property that I am involved with.

+ 1 moreThis is the third or fourth time we have used Scott Cole and Cole Electric and they did a fantastic job again. My wife e-mailed Scott and they communicated over e-mail (return customers). Eventually Scott called to confirm the job and prices for two ceiling fans installed (which we had already purchased) and an outside outlet replacement. Scott's guys came the day after we spoke to him on the phone. I knew one technician since he had been to our house on several occasions to perform work....he knew our house as well. It took them a couple of hours to wire and set-up two junction boxes in two different rooms and then put together and install the fans. We didn't move any furniture they just threw down covers and went right to work. They also replaced both wall switches with sliding controls for the lights and fan speed. As usual a little bonus was thrown in... when he went outside after the fans were done to replace the outlet he replaced it with not just a simple GFI... but a larger one with a hinged and slotted cover and then sealed it into the brick. I only expected a simple outlet swap. It seems like everytime we use Cole Electric they throw in a little something extra as a "thanks for your business" gesture. It is much appreciated. We have recommended Cole Electric to our friends (non-angieslist) and they have been happy with them as well. I am glad to vouch for their quality of service.
Description of Work: We had two ceiling fans installed which included installation and wiring for two junction boxes as well. (We purchased the ceiling fans from Home Depot). We also had an old exterior outlet replaced with a new GFI protected outlet.

+ 0 moreThe price seemed fair and reasonable for exceptional service. They were on time, polite, and dug trenches, by hand, 12 inches down. They put the cable in conduit and ran this for a total of 25 feet. They cut sod and plants out so that they could be put back in the exact places. The trouble came when huge tree roots became an issue for the conduit. These two men worked tirelessly, using different tools to cut away these roots. The temperature was in the high nineties and they never complained, and never said they should be paid more for the hours they spent on roots. They cleaned up the area to my satisfaction and I would not hesitate to call them for any additional electrical work. Description of Work: Removed sod and plantings, hand dug a 12" trench for the cable to run in conduit for approximately 25'. They encountered large roots from a tree that had recently been taken out and had to use hand tools to cut away enough of the roots to lay the conduit a foot deep. This took several hours that they did not count on. They successfully installed the post and light.

The technician came out not checked the grounding of our house, but also gave us some advice about which outlets we should use in the future in case we were installing them ourselves. I did not feel like they tried to upsell us just to make more money. I would be willing to use them again in the future.

+ 2 moreWe just moved into our house and there were a few wiring problems and we wanted more ceiling fans. Called and received an estimate for adding 2 fans. I was told they were able to come out that afternoon because they had a cancellation. The estimate was under what I had received from 4 other companies and I received a discount for being an Angies List member. After calling I called back to add more work and they had no problem with this. I was told to go buy my fans and lighting and they would call me after lunch. They came and did half the work and finished the next day. Cleaned up after themselves and were great to work with. One of the lights was missing parts so they waited for me to run to Lowes and change it out. I would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: Installed a chandelier, 2 ceiling fans, rewired a few outlets and stove wiring, and replaced light fixtures and existing fans.

I had a very tight schedule for getting the work done, so I was a bit nervous, but I needn't have been. Scott's guys were actually 15 minutes earlier than the time we agreed on, which is a first in my experience! None of the guys smelled like smoke or stepped out to smoke. Love it! They were courteous, careful, did a great job, and even cleaned up after themselves. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I will definitely use Cole Electric again!
Description of Work: They took down a large chandelier in a 2 story foyer, over a staircase, hung a new chandelier in it's place, installed under cabinet lights with a dimmer switch in my kitchen (awesome!), & swapped out about 2 dozen electrical outlets and switches.

+ -1 moreI received an estimate on Wednesday and one of the crews was at my office the next morning to complete the work. They arrived at 8:30AM and had everything completed by 1PM. They cleaned everything before leaving. The owner contacted me to make sure I was satisfied with the work and ask if I had any comments to improve the service. I received the invoice the next day for the services completed.
Description of Work: I have a two story office building with very high ceilings. I received an estimate on Wednesday and the work was completed on Thursday. I had old flourescent lites throughout the entire office. The lites were the original lites when the building was built in 1986. Cole electric replaced the internal workings in all 9 of the lites. Additionally they replaced a fan lite fixture and added two new track lighting fixtures in the office.

+ 0 moreCole electric gave a great estimate over the phone and the workers that showed up were professional and courteous. Just talking to Mr. Cole over the phone, I can tell that he has good work ethics and so does his employees.
Description of Work: Cole electric installed 3 ceiling fans and had to bracket them all. The employees took my old fixtures down for me and put them in a box that I had given them with paper in it. One ceiling fan had to have 2 x 4 cut and put in the ceiling due to the plumbing of the upstairs bath in the way, but the worker made sure I understood what he was doing and showed me. When all three ceiling fans were up, one of them was defected and a bearing was knocking. This was new fan that I had just purchased at Lowe's and the worker took it back down and put it in the box for me. Cole electric is coming back out to install another fan in a high vaulted ceiling and will put the replacement ceiling fan up for me.
