Overall experience was outstanding. Ryan returned my original call within a couple of hours and was there for the estimate when he said was going to be. Very professional and knowledgeable, assisting me and wife with making the best decisons. His team was there on time and the guys were very friendly, polite and hard working (my apologies for not remembering their names). Finished product looked great. Thanks Ryan and team.
Description of Work: Repaired broken grout on kitchen floors and counters. Resealed all grout lines in kitchen area (the whole floor looked brand new when they were done. Repaired broken grout on master bathroom floors and walls where it had cracked from the foundation settling. Stretched one section of carpet that had began to bubble up.

I haven't heard anything since from them. I had to call to remind them about the quote and still haven't got anything including the call or email me he said would send me that night.
Description of Work: They came out to give me an estimate.
We are very happy with the quality of the work and the time that it took to perform it. We are equally happy with the prompt communication they provided and their advice in problem-solving the little items that rise in any project such as this. The guys even installed new toilets for us (we bought them) and disposed of the old ones. They helped me solve a slight water problem by the back door and allowed me a credit for parts of the baseboard prep and paint that I did myself.
Description of Work: We had 1,700 square feet of 5" engineered red oak flooring and ceramic tile installed in our town home. Ryan Anderson was prompt in returning my calls, their estimate was lower than others I contacted, they started and finished the job on time, and they promptly addressed "punch list" items. The work included removing the old carpet and linoleum, removing and reinstalling the baseboards, removing and reinstalling the appliances (except the dishwasher) and toilets, installing foam padding and 5" engineered red oak flooring in all living areas and ceramic tile in three bathrooms, the garage entry and the kitchen, and installing red oak treads and white risers on the stairs.

The overall experience was good. I did have some trouble in trying to locate the exact same hardwood flooring I had installed in my family room, but Anderson helped me and checked all of the specs before I ordered. The only delay was in having to wait for the moisture level in the slab to reach an acceptable level. This of course was not Anderson's fault. I just happen to live in an area where there is a high degree of moisture. Anderson kept in close communication about the entire process. They were really good to work with.

Anderson Flooring is busy, so my job was broken up over a few weeks. We had one major issue. The dining room and library downstairs were finished with the right product. When they did the upstairs, I came home and realized they were using a narrower wood. They had actually finished an entire bedroom. I contacted the owner, and he was very responsive. Apparently, it is common for people to use a narrow flooring upstairs than down, so when the narrower flooring was delivered, the installers didn't question it. I contemplated just staying with the narrower, but wife really wanted the other, so they had to tear out all their work and start over. I never felt pressured by the owner to do otherwise. He wanted us to be happy. A few things to be aware of if you are doing this. It is nearly impossible to match existing hardwood. The hardwood "ambers up" over time, and my original had been down 6 years. Randy, the owner assures me that the new stuff will amber, but can't make any guarantee it will ever perfectly match. I don't think this is a problem with the company, just the reality of it. Also, this was an expensive project. I did get two quotes from recommended installers from Angie's list. Anderson was 10 or 15% less expensive, and their estimate was very professional looking. The other fellow, who was also very nice, presented his in an email without an attachment (Anderson sent theirs as an attachment, nicely formatted) Not a big deal, but it gave me more of a solid feeling. Looking back on my quote, I could have saved a ton of money by moving my own furniture in some of the rooms. The dining room was very complicated and they did a great job. Other rooms involved minimal movement of items, but the moving of furniture is quoted based on square feet. My bad. I should have moved my own in the rest of the house and could have saved a thousand. All in all a good experience.
Description of Work: I had hardwood floors put in in my dining room, library, master bedroom keyhole hallway upstairs and another bedroom.

It was an excellent experience. They were punctual and personable. The floors turned out beautifully. I was extremely pleased. Recently, we had a dishwasher inlet valve break and flood our kitchen floor. We had Ryan Anderson come back and make the repairs. You cannot see the patch and his worker was able to match the new floor to the old. I would definitely hire this company again.

Ryan Andersen came to our house and gave us various options. He really listened to what we wanted done and then gave us several options. One of the options, which meant removing all layers in the kitchen floor and replacing it with the same exact wood in the other rooms was clearly the best to me since it was only slightly more expensive but provided a "perfect" solution. They would also refinish/finish the floors and apply 3 coats of protection. He immediately gave us quotes for the various options and we ultimately paid exactly what he quoted us. We had seen two previous contractors from Angies list, one which kept lecturing us on how "we did not understand" how things were done (which is true) and then took many days to get back to us. The other one we liked but felt more comfortable with Ryan. Also his price seemed a little better. The Andersen Flooring workers were extremely professional and helpful. The job was was performed in approximately 5-7 days. They arrived early (between 8-9) each morning and worked steadily and efficiently throughout the day. They removed many layers of flooring from the kitchen (there were 3 floors on top of each other and installed very "tightly"). They repaired some of the flimsy base-flooring as needed. They glued and nailed the boards in the kitchen. Then they refinished the rest of the downstairs, applied the coats and applied shoe molding through the whole downstairs. My wife was there during the work and reported they were extremely friendly and helpful. In particular they took care of many of the "edging" details in the kitchen. There were a couple of very minor issues/details at the end which we requested and they addressed immediately. We were completely 100% satisfied with the result which was as good, if not better than what we had envisioned. We now have hardwood floors throughout our open-floor plan (including the kitchen) and it is really beautiful!
Description of Work: We wanted to replace our kitchen floor with wood in order to match the rest of the dining and living room area which is also wood (in an open floor plan). We also wanted to refinish the wood in the living area and dining room. The square footage downstairs is 1100-1200 sq. ft.

Ryan Anderson was extremely polite and professional. He was prompt for all his appointments with me. His workers were also prompt, polite, and professional. Ryan made a mistake in scheduling my work and gave me an "inconvenience discount!" I highly recommend Anderson flooring.
Description of Work: I had tile put in my kitchen floor. Ryan met me at the store to pick out the product. He allowed me to take a tile home to make sure it would look good with my cabinets, walls, etc. The team removed the old floor day 1, prepped the surface and started install day 2, finished day 3 and wrapped up details (Quarter-round molding) on day 4.

When the old floors were removed, a rotten spot was uncovered in the laundry room, which required replacement of the subfloors in that area. This delayed the job a little. The installation of the new floors was done well. There were a few minor issues at the transition areas, which were resolved a few days later.
Description of Work: The old parkay and laminate floors were removed, the subfloors were repaired and leveled and a new strand bamboo floor was installed in most of our main floor.

I had received several bids (Anderson not being the least expensive) for this project and I went with Anderson flooring because they had received such great reviews on Angie's List. Unfortunately I can't give them the stellar reviews that everyone else has, as my experience was not as pleasant as hoped. In the end, we were happy with the result, but it took several attempts to get there....hence the reason I could not give them glowing reviews. Each day that work was supposed to occur, not one person showed up on time. They were always about 2 hours late, with no call to let me know. I had planned my days around their arrival because I was not going to be able to leave the house or get to the bedrooms (I have two small children, so this was an annoyance that I could have done without). The person who came out to do the sanding and staining got stain on our carpet and made no attempt to try and get it out. When I asked him about it the second day, he really didn't have an answer. He later told me that the person who would do the trim work would work on removing the stain. When the trim work guy came out to paint the trim he was sloppy and did not paint over the trim work where wood stain had been splattered. When I asked him about cleaning up the trim and getting the stain out of the carpet, he told me it wasn't his problem and that I needed to take it up with the sander/stainer. I was taken back, being that both men were from the same company....in my opinion, you don't play the blame game with your fellow employees; you fix the errors and take those things up with your boss, not the customer! So the trim guy left without cleaning up the trim that had stain marks and left the stain in the rug. When I called the company to address these issues, they sent the original stain/sander guy out and he tried to pain trim, which only made the trim look worse...he ended up getting white paint all over the newly stained and sealed hardwood floors. Unfortunately, no one really made the effort to get things resolved without my husband having to call someone higher up to explain that he wasn't going to make the final payment until someone came out and met with him to dis

moved & replaced furniture. careful, thorough, very professional I can't believe the difference having real floor sanders with professional equipment makes. There was no dust in the house because the equipment vacuums to a canister outside the house. The process takes several days because of drying time between coats. My wife was thrilled. Frankly, so am i.

Cost was the best including estimates provided by military associated dealers.Work started as scheduled.Installation was expertly accomplished. Installer (one person) arrived each morning exactly on time and provided a full day's work. Minor problems: 1. contractor was over-extended and could not provide a second installer---result, the job took several days longer than estimated and extended over a weekend. 2. initial bathroom floor repair could have been handled better.

As mentioned above, they were very professional and I would recommend them for your flooring needs.
Description of Work: They did a beautiful job and finished within the time frame. They were a little messy with the tear up, and didn't cover my furniture, as they should have. I should have insisted on that. Overall, I was very happy with the kitchen and living room they installed the hardwood flooring in.
Ryan Anderson met us at the house we were purchasing in Suffolk after lots of back and forth with the realtor and owners of the place. He was very patient. He told us he worked in Suffolk often and that he serviced the entire Hapton Roads area. We went over what we wanted and I had a few samples of the styles that we liked, but he did not offer any samples and had no contractor rate deals with any of the local suppliers. He could not find any wood cheaper than I could find on my own via the internet. We talked briefly about the specifications like wooden drop down vents, the trim, stairs, etc. We were never given an oppurtunity to pick out typesof handrails or balusters or even quarter round. We were given an estimate that was really high, but because of his reputation on this and other sites we chose to remove one set of stairs and the Room over the Garage from the equation. This brought the price down to $14k and we were still buying the wood online through www.builddirect.com We asked if he could come down at all from that estimate and he would not budge $1. He offered no Military or Government discount, which is odd for a Hampton Roads business. He even included a $300 charge fro driving to Suffolk after he said that they work in Suffolk all of the time. We still chose to go with Anderson Flooring and work was supposed to start on Nov 6th. Shane called before this and said there was a communication problem betwwen Ryan and himself and that the work would actually begin on Nov 7th. The 7th was a Friday and I get a call at work telling me that the entire crew is sick and that work will not be able to begin until the 10th. I did not mind becuase we had a contract that stated the work woul dbe complete by Oct 17th. The work went fairly smooth, I could tell once they began on the 10th that they were behind schedule. Some of the workers truck left oil spots on my driveway and sawdust covered everything in my garage. The work was slow and at different times the right person could not be there for painting or installation and this would cause a furhter delay. When it came down to the stair handrail and balusters, we kept waiting for them to show us a slection and we thought we would have a choice, but we were told that the contractor special ones were what was included in the estimate and to have different ones would be hundreeds of dollars. Once they were done on Nov 2nd, they asked that we inspect the work and there were nails sticking out of the stairs, stains that did not match, items were not painted. We brought all of this up and it was fixed professionally, but what would have happened if we did not see it? They workers were all nice and professional and I was kept up to date, but they finished almost 3 weeks late and offered no excuses, apologies or discounts. The wooden vent covers I wanted were not the ones installed and Ryan's response was that the ones I wanted would have been more expensive. The estimate did not list a specific model. I feel that the estimate was inflated and then they choose some low end items that were not specifically addressed so that we would have to pay for an up-charge. The flooring work was done well. The stairs took longer and you could tell that stairs were not their speciality. We were forced to move in during the installation because they were running behind and we damaged 3 boards of hardwood floor. This was done before the quarterround was installed. We asked if they could go ahead and fix it and we would pay for it, but since the room was not finished it should not make much difference. They mentioned that they had to fininsh everything on the contract, before they could go back to do any repairs. At the end of the project I had to pay for 1 employees daily rate to be there to fix 3-4 boards. Overall I am happy with the job. Some of the initial work was sloppy, workers did not show up, the job ran way over schedule and I felt nickled and dimed to death. I have enough wood to finish the room over the garage, but I honestly dont know who I will use to do the work. I would recommend Anderson Flooring on any flooring job, but I would add a clause in the contract about a discount on every day they are late and I would add model numbers and be very specific in the estimate so that you are not surprised later.
Description of Work: I contracted with Anderson Flooring to remove some low quality existing hardwood, linoleum flooring, and carpet on the downstairs floor. I also contracted for them to remove the carpet from the stairs and for them to replace the hand rails, remove existing treads, provide and install new raw red oak treads stained and finished, paint or stain risers, provide and install balusters white to match floors, provide and install newel posts to match and half wall plat to match. Other specifications was for them to install the aqua bar under the flooring, and fro them to provide the quarter round and transition strips.

Response from Anderson Flooring Inc
Buying flooring products and stair parts online will almost always be a little less expensive than any local flooring company, wholesale store, liquidation store or local buyer’s group stores. Buying online means that you are saving some money, however, you and the online store are responsible for any product related issues before, during and after the installation and for as long as you have the product. Product related issues can cause series delays in the project. You may find yourself asking the installation professionals to do their best installing wrong or difficult to work with product (because you are eager to get moved into your new home or just back to normal in your current home). If getting the lowest possible price on the product is the most important aspect of the project, and your timing is flexible then buying online is an option to consider. Be sure to let Anderson Flooring know what products you are interested in before you buy them. We can help you find the best price on the product and make you aware of any potential product related issues before you buy.
called on the 10th to verify we were still on for Monday the 14th, notified that material was ready for delivery on the 11th of Nov. Josh and his crew showed up on time and removed the carpet from the floors and prepped the concrete slab for the flooring to be installed Paying close attention to detail the crew installed the new Laminate flooring in a mater of two days. Finishing the base boards and quarter round on the last day. Floors looked outstanding. Anderson Floors have the Kitchen Floor remodel job starting the first of the Year.

Anderson provided a detailed written estimate in a timely fashion that provided a breakdown in the cost of the project. The cost of the project was for all work and supplies except that I provided the ceramic tile. This was the second bathroom tile job where I have used Anderson. The work was started on time but did take longer than expected. Overall, I am very satisfied with the quality of the work performed and I wouldn't hesitate to use Anderson again in the future.
Description of Work: Anderson installed ceramic tile in a full bathroom.
Very well. Ryan came to our house to see what we wanted done. We provided a list which he turned into a quote/contract right away and scheduled the work to start in two weeks. Excellent employees overall. Shane managed the contract very well and was the POC for his personnel and quality of the work. Chris, Antoine and his workmate (name I cannot recall), were especially outstanding employees. As I said, we are very pleased with the results & we would hire Anderson Flooring again.
Description of Work: Anderson Flooring removed carpeting and installed qtr. round in 4 rooms, recoated wood floors, repaired & installed new ceramic tiles, installed new shower door, cleaned and sealed tile grouting in 3 bathrooms and painted one bathroom. Work actually took longer than planned due to some scheduling conflicts but the overall quality of work was excellent. Ryan & Shane provided the right people for the various jobs and we are very pleased with the results.

The job took 7 working days. The crew had to move my furniture from one side of the house to the other and back again. They were careful with my household goods and they did a great job on my floors. They also cleaned up after themselves and I had a very good experience.
Description of Work: Ryan Anderson was very professional in his approach to the job. He gave us an estimate the day he came out, and we arranged a mutually agreeable date for the job. His crew was courteous and they did an excellent job. One factor in hiring Anderson Flooring was that he would use a dust abatement system and that worked very well. I would hire them again.

We have lived in our home for 21 years and always had carpet, but my wife longed for hardwood. Although we had a large selection from which to chose, she wanted the 21/4 boards which only came in a cabin grade. That meant alot of shorter boards than on better quality floors. We had several estimates and chose Ryan Anderson's Flooring. He suggested that we go through all the boards to make sure they only installed the ones we found acceptable. That gave us a chance to purchase more if needed. Although it was labor intensive, my wife was determined to have the chance to choose. Also hoping to make it easier and quicker for the installers, she measured and stacked all the boards back in the boxes by general sizes since we were going through them anyway. We were glad we took the time to do this because the floor turned out according to my wife, "beautiful". The head installer worked diligently to make the floor look good with the correct alignment and edges. He mixed two stains to come up with the perfect matching stain for the trim. They showed up each day ready to work, and when finished hauled away all materials. We were able to install hardwood floors within our budget thanks to Ryan Anderson, who took the time to instruct us about the type of flooring we had chosen and how we could insure a good outcome with our choice.
Description of Work: Installed hardwood flooring purchased at Lumber Liquidators. They laid an underlayment first then nailed the floor to our plywood subfloor. 1/4 round oak edging or molding was stained and installed. We added to the project by having the same molding installed throughout our kitchen.

I could not have been happier with the overall experience. They were fantastic. This was a house that I just bought and I was told by someone else that I got an estimate from that they were unsalvageable and it had to be replaced. Anderson came in and said that they can do it and we didn't have to worry. He asked us to have high expectations; so I did and trusted him and they went way beyond the call. They estimated that they probably had to make 4 pass at others at least to get the floors leveled. It turned out that they had to do 7 and it took them at least 2 extra days and they never charged me any more than the original estimate. I will use them again in a minute if the need arose and as a matter of fact, I will be using them again shortly.
Description of Work: Anderson Flooring resurfaced hardwood floors for me last August.
