Our HVAC unit was not cooling the way it should. We called for a repair and recharge of the coolant, and Butler responded promptly. They gave my wife a complete review of what was found, and explained that at some point we have to replace the unit due to age and EPA regulation issues. I talked to them further about how long we had, and they were very helpful in explaining what the issues were.

prompt in estimates and worked with us to meet our needs. Answered all our questions. We did have some problems with the outdoor unit (no fault of installation), they came back quickly and fixed it.

Our air handler in the attic for our upstairs unit needed replacing because it has rusted out. They were able to replace this without replacing the outside unit. They also told me that the air handler in the attic would be compatible with a unit whenever it had to be replaced. They were very professional, on time and completed the work on time. I thought the overall price was pricey for what needed to be done but I would use them again.

I called them on Friday, August 17th and a technician came on Monday, August 20th. I informed the receptionist when I called that I noticed some icing on a cable and said that I knew the unit defrosts and will show ice but I hadn't seen it on this piece of equipment before. She told me that de-icing happens in the winter when it is heating and said that it would need to be checked. The technician arrived late Monday afternoon around 4:45pm. After doing a diagnostic check on the unit he said that the Freon was low and that there must be a leak. He asked me if I knew when was the last time Freon had been put in the unit and I told him several years ago.

Great experience. On time, on budget, did what they said they were going to do, cleaned up after themselves.

They fixed my issue and were very quick. The poor ratings are do to the professionalism and for how much I was charged for something that took about 12 minutes.

Butler was one of at least three bids we had to replace heating and air conditioning. They were incredibly reasonably priced. The senior staff were very professional, knowledgable, and provided great advice. We had some small problems with the staff who installed the furnace and heat pump in that they placed the heat pump under the deck and we had to point that out to them. The senior staff member had to come and they rebuilt the platform and moved the heat pump. Unfortunately they did not clear the fuel lines when they installed the furnace so with the 60 year old oil tank we had gunk in the lines that caused the furnace to need two new nozzles, a new fuel pump and finally a special filter on the line. Butler was wonderfully responsive to all our issues and never charged us for the many visits and the replacement parts that were needed to figure out what the problem was. We still use them for the routine maintenance on the furnace and would recommend them. They stand by their work. I give them a B on quality as I would have hoped that they would have figured out the issue with the fuel lines earlier than they did.

He answered our questions for us and he was honest enough to say he wouldn't be able to come out for a few days but they would come out as soon as they could. They were a very honest company.

He showed up on time and I am sure the system would have been quality. But, after several estimates, their's was 5000 dollars more for the install of a heat pump and gas furnace. I found a company doing less work for just over 6000 dollars. What really upset me was I advised the estimator that this was a rental property. But, after he completed the estimate, he left what I would call "personal/confidential" information (regarding the cost of the system) with the tenant. It is none of the business of the tenant what the system would cost and it often gives the appearance that the landlord is filled with pockets of money. It was only after the tenant called me that I knew the paper work for the estimate had been completed. And, I had to go to the rental property to pick up the unsealed envelope. This was very unprofessional and I hope this does not happen to other property owners.

I would rate them highly, and I would use them again in the future if I needed to.

This was a major project because our house, while not that large, is not configured in a way that we could run ductwork from the attic to both upstairs and downstairs. We got estimates from four companies, and all agreed that two heat pumps were needed, but differed on the size of the units and the placement of registers. Butler's estmator was particularly impressive, in that he did detailed drawings and measurments of each floor before giving us his estimate, which was in the middle of the four we received. The crew did extremely neat work in sometimes very tight spots. They did a remarkable job placing the ductwork in such a way as to be least obtrusive in the basement. Although it is exposed, the work is neat and professional looking. We will be using the system primarily for air conditioning (and still using our hot-water registers for winter heating). Of course, a mid-March heat wave subsided as soon as the system was in, although in the few hot days since the installation, the system has worked beautifully. Very quiet indoors, and only a modest hum from the two units outside - one a two-ton unit, and the other a 1.5-ton. Very pleased with the job and (so far) with the system.

They were responsive and polite and very professional. When they came to do the job they were quick and careful. When there was a small problem they promptly dealt with it in a very satisfactory manner. They even gave my husband a tee shirt because he wanted to wear it to show support for the great job they did! We still use their yearly maintenance plan and they are always responsive and professional. We will always go back to them whenever we need heating or .ac services.

II, The initial visit located the problem. Since my furnace was about 30 years old, the parts supplier had no information on the model, so the young man that was here took the fan to the suppliers to see if they might have a part that would work. He did this the same afternoon and returned with the fan promptly. Unfortunately, no substitute part was found. Examination of the heat exchanger also found it to be in bad shape. I told him I'd decide what to do and call them. I did this, and they promptly sent out someone--on a holiday, no less-- to give me an estimate because it was really cold at the time. I was given the information the following day, called them back that same afternoon with my selection. They gave me multiple options from which to choose--like 5 or 6--with excellent information on the differences between the various systems. Once I decided what I wanted, I let them know my choice and they said they would have the scheduling person call to set up an installation date. They called the next morning and said they could either do it that very day, or the following week. Of course, I chose the former. The guys showed up at the specified time (8 a.m.), removed the old furnace and installed the new one and were finished by about 2:30 p.m. that day. The furnace has worked perfectly since then, although I did have a problem after a couple days with my heat pump. When I called them, they sent someone out that afternoon who discovered the problem (a bad circuit board). They had to order the part, but said they could get it by the next day. They called the next day and said they got the part and could come put it in. The young man came, put in the part, and checked to make sure it solved the problem. All of the guys who did the work were polite and friendly, knowledgeable, and didn't waste any time. I would recommend them highly to anyone in need of heating or AC service.

Their price was much less than several other places by multiples of the size. We are very satisfied with the work. They saw the least expensive and a simple solution. Their work works fine.

Estimator arrived on time, techs arrived on time, the job was done by respectful, competent and professionals. I would recommend this business.

Everything went very well. We were treated very well. Other companies were charging between $1000 and $2000. The work was done prompted.

I wasn't sure if the cleaning was completely needed or if it helped much.

First off, their estimator, Roger, was great. I got 5 quotes from different companies (both small and large companies) and he was the only person that measured our house and our air handler. He is definitely very knowledgeable and very educated in his field. He was very helpful in answering my questions and concerns. He was also very knowledgeable with all the information on the federal 30% tax credit and the 20% state rebate. This, along with WC Butler being the lowest bidder, made us decide to go with this company. The crew arrived promptly at 7:30 am and the job was done in one day. Everything looked great- the new unit and all hookups, etc. were very neat and professional. They cleaned up very well (they had to move ceiling tiles, etc. from our basement to access the ducts). I would highly recommended them for your HVAC needs.

My experience with them was fine. The estimator was great. He was very informative and helpful. The installation people did a great job and were pretty efficient too. The price that they charged was competitive.

I found them to be very responsive and they were good about getting here very quickly. I found the price to be fair and they did a fairly good job.

They did an excellent job. they showed up on time, were very courteous and very helpful.

I contacted Butler for an estimate, their salesman was knowledgeable and direct with all of my questions. He looked at my situation and then recommended the unit and features I needed and didn't push the ones that I didn't. The quote was within 10% of all of the "questionable" companies I had bid on the job, but the equipment was a better brand. The guys arrived on the day of install promptly at 7:45 a.m., appointment was for 8:00 a.m. but I blearily let them in. The install had a few minor hiccups (my home not their service) they finished by 3:00 p.m., cleaned up and wished me well. Unit is great and service after the fact is the same. In fact, one call I was looking to schedule an appointment later in the week and they were able to get out the same day. They weren't even afraid of the 100 lbs German shepherd, who decided that he liked them.
