Description of Work: I think Booze would be fine for small simple jobs, and I know mine was complex, but I think they could have handled things better, faster, and cheaper. My kitchen sink wouldn't drain - there was a severe stoppage. I called Booze and they promptly sent out Randy - super nice guy and he worked real hard. When he tried to snake it out for over an hour, he deduced the clog was probably behind the dishwasher but then opted to instead go to my basement workshop where he cut two large holes in the wall, cut the pipe, and tried to snake out from below - that didn't work. Maybe if they sent two plumbers or if he had a camera scope device, it would have gone quicker. So it was now almost 3 hours, and he said he would have to come back, so no kitchen sink or dishwasher for 5 more days. Their initial charge is $250 to snake which I accepted, but the woman answering the phone initially said each add'l ½ hour would be like $49. I guess this rate doesn't apply to snaking, since it became $150 an hour for the last two hours + $50 for the pipe repair part - so I was out $600 and then they told me it might cost up to ANOTHER $2,000 more to take out the d/w and find the clog. I talked to Randy's boss who told me he couldn't charge time and materials for the second visit b/c it was so complex. I tried to argue that's exactly why we SHOULD do time and materials, the more complex = the more time and money he could charge. $2,000 would be like 13 hours of labor - it shouldn't take that long. (I had to sign that estimate or start over with someone new). That was on the Friday of Snowzilla, and so he said he would come back on Tuesday. Tried to call Tuesday, but voice mail was full, sent an email and was told it be Thursday, despite my street being clear. They did call Wednesday and said they could come out that day which was nice. Weds. was like another 1.75 hours, took out the dishwasher, with my help, found the pipe where it t'd into another pipe and cut it and snaked it out. Luckily it "only" cost me another $500 which was pretty high for the amount of time spent there, but much better than the absurd $2K quote. I think he didn't want to mess with removing the dishwasher, and tried a hail mary and spent two more hours trying in vain to snake it from the basement. Maybe if he went with his first instinct, the whole thing would have cost $600. Finally, he said he checked for leaks and noticed a slightly leak near the cut-off valve under my sink. Then he closed the cabinet and said all leaks were gone. Not quite - the tiny leak is still there, but since it wasn't one of the pipes he messed with, I guess he didn't fix it - but I would have like to have known what my options were so I could have had that fixed too. In fairness, I'm no plumber and it takes a lot of trial and error to find these stoppages. I honestly believe Randy was trying his best, and don't believe he was trying to milk the job for more time, but wish he tried the closest pipe behind the d/w. Overall, I think Booze could have been more efficient in diagnosing the problem, more thorough in offering to fix the small remaining leak, more responsive in clearing their voice mail remotely, and more fair and transparent with the pricing - after the initial trip charge, I had no clue what it would cost and was at their mercy.
