TruGreen Lawn Care - 5110

Contracted to provided aeration and over seeding in the September timeframe. Asked for prepayment and gave a 10% discount. Said would be done in 2 weeks. It rained and I gave them more time but they never came. When I called they said they would come out to do it but it was too late in the year. Finally got a refund. Also when I complained that a weed killing treatment wasn?t working, they said I had to wait a week longer. At that time they applied their scheduled treatment with weed killer and my complaint was not addressed. Really not happy with them. We also had TruGreen inn 2007, when they came for a treatment and then charged for it. Two days later they came for another treatment (fertilization) and charged for it but my wife was home and said they just ran around the perimeter of the yard. They argued with us that there were pellets throughout the yard. Those pellets were from the treatment two days before. So we then fired them. Their satisfaction guarantee was not honored. They convinced us to try them again in 2009 but as I said above they were poor in their follow through but not in charging for work they never got around to doing.

We canceled our service after TrueGreen wanted us to pay for grub treatment that was never performed. Very aggressive in pursuing us. We suggested that they probably had accounts mixed-up because their notes indicated they spoke with us on our home phone number on a weekend we were out of town. They insisted that we ordered the treatment. The situation felt like border line fraud because they were so aggresssive in pursuing payment. Grub treatment is used to kill Japanese Beetles in the ground before they hatch. Sure enough we were infested with Japanese Beetles that year - proof that the treatment was never performed! This company is not to be trusted!

the first year a sales guy gave me a quote and i agreed. Then later a manager called and said the sales guy misquoted me and he raised the price. This happened again the second year so I thought it might be the way they operate. So I stopped the service even though the service was good. Also, their sales guys pressure you for all kinds of other services. They just didn't know when to quit. When they came by for a third year I told them my story so they would know why I would not use their service again. Great product, bad policies and management.

I accepted an offer for the whole season. My yard is so small that they gave me the town house rate. I would say they did a fairly good job, but it's hard to assess because it's my first year in the house and they are the only ones I've used. The lawn was green to start out and it's still green so it's hard to say if their service helped out a lot, but I assume it did. They don't really tell me when they are coming out. I may continue to use them in the future.

The quality of their work and responsiveness are good. They promise 6 treatments per year, but I’ve used them for two years and it has always been more than 6 - they always come and push additional treatment and it ends up being more expensive than they advertise. I would probably use them again because I don’t want to do all that stuff myself.

They are really very nice, and they come frequently. The lawn looks better.

I paid for the full year in the spring. They did come out on a regular basis (I could tell by the little sign left in the lawn), but the weeds just grew and grew. The notes they left said the lawn looks good in the back, but that is where we put new sod in, so it should look good. They called to offer extra bug spray for the cherry laurels and azaleas, but a master gardener who looked over our property said those shrubs were just fine (but the rose bushes needed some attention). After three phone calls to get the weeds and crabgrass taken care of, I finally just cancelled the service. I am now waiting for a refund for the remainder of my annual fee.

They are very professional. We do not have to be in the house when they come. Even if we are not here, they come and do what they have to do. Usually they send the same guy and that is good too.

All they did was come out and spread chemicals. They didn't do anything about growing grass. They were very polite and came out 3 times but I decided to go with another company. I didn't feel they were really responsive with their customer's specific needs.

We are very happy with the services. They leave an invoice at the door and stake in the lawn after each service. They had called a few times to add other services that we have said no because it sounded more like trying sell more services than recommendation to improve lawn. We may add other services on our own if we feel the need. Overall, very happy with the services.

I have used this company for regular fertilization services and they have been fine. I had the same problem as others that when I signed up with the service I was frequently "cold called" in an effort to sell me more services. I found this annoying. When I asked the telemarketer to take me off the call list, he did and I haven't received any more solicitation calls from Tru Green since. The problem I have with this company is with their ability to diagnose and treat lawn problems. My yard had grubs. The damage was visible when a tech was here to perform my Fall Aeration and Overseeding. The tech never acknowledged or notated to me or on the form that I had any problems in my yard. When a neighbor pointed out that I had grubs, I immediately called Tru Green to schedule a grub treatment service. I called them on a Monday morning and they said a tech would be out sometime during the week to perform the service. By Friday afternoon, no one had shown up. When I called Tru Green, the woman on the telephone informed me that they were planning to combine the grub treatment with my regular services the next week. While in theory it may have been only a few additional days to wait, I was highly annoyed by this because my lawn continues to be destroyed by grubs a little more each day. This demonstrates a complete lack of customer service. If a customer is having a problem with their lawn that is literally damaging the lawn a little more each day, and the company has committed to coming to treat the problem and then decides on their own to come when it is convenient for them, that is absolutely unacceptable to me. Any company can provide fertilization services. That is easy. The test for a lawn service company is how they handle problems when they arise. In my case, the tech who serviced my lawn didn't notice the grub damage and Tru Green did not commit to providing a treatment for the problem in a timely fashion. The fall aeration and seeding treatment I received was poor. I arrived home when the tech was performing the service and found the tech well into my neighbors yard aerating their property. He said her wasn't sure where the property line was and "he didn't want to come back." I don't know how any reasonable person would think a property line extends beyond a neighbors driveway. The tech ignored or failed to diagnose the visible grub damage at that time. I had some bare areas that were in desperate need of overseeding. Two and a half weeks later, they are still in need of overseeding and I have properly watered. Tru Green was supposed to come back and provide some additional overseeding when they performed the grub treatment, but as I've mentioned, they didn't show up in the agreed upon time frame. My experience is that Tru Green did not provide "Satisfaction Guaranteed" to fix services that did not go well or provide corrective services in a timely fashion when needed.

I feel that the management of this company is poor. I have had several different price quotes from several different people for the same service. I do not have confidence in a company where they offer conflicting information. I think that the treatment to the trees is o.k.

Salesman presented a complete shrub care program to take place over the next 12 months. He fully explained the various applications and answered my questions. In sum the sales experience was more of an education than a high pressure pitch. I was present during the first treatment and asked the technician many questions about the fungicides etc. that he was applying. He took a considerable amount of time to explain what he was doing and gave me pointers on things I should be doing to compliment the treatments they would be applying. My only reservation is that I think the price charged for the product delivered seems excessive. I guess we are paying for the expertise. This report is partial as it is based on only the first treatment.

We used this service for a while but since have decided that we could take care of it ourselves for a lot less money. They did do a good job on my lawn but I felt they were expensive and pushy. They were calling all the time to see if we wanted to add extra service and I didn't appreciate that or feel it was necessary.

This particular time TruGreen applied the fertilizer on a hot day. My lawn was bright green before they did the application. After they did the application and left, I noticed that 30% of my lawn was burnt and turned brown. To me that was a big deal since I was trying to sell the house and make it look better instead of worse. I called them to come look at it and after they did, they commented that the lawn has some brown spots and that I needed to water it frequently. I felt like they were not listening and avoided the real reason why the lawn was brown. So I will be moving on with another lawn service soon.

They do a good job. There was only one time that I think they sprayed the weed killer that was the wet kind. I didn t want that, I only wanted the dry kind used. But besides that, we are pleased with the service and they did well. The price is reasonable and we are charged per application.

They spread lots of chemicals. Got rid of many weeds. Despite numerous promises they never did the soil analysis just spread more chemicals. Areas of the lawn that needed attention just had more seed and chemicals dropped while the lawn continued to deteriorate. Now we have bald spots with erosion. Continuously called to offer more services at extra cost that were not in what they originally sold.

Notification by mail of date next application. Arrival prompt. I am home most of the time to observe. Specialists note on bills with what he noted, what I can expect from the applied applications and his recommendations are an extra plus.

THEY KEEP ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE. WE HAVE USED THEM FOR 10 YEARS.

I WASN'T HAPPY WITH THIS COMPANY BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T DO WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO DO. I HAVE BIG PATCHES ALL OVER MY LAWN. THEY DIDN'T FERTILIZE THE LAWN CORRECTLY. I FELT THEY HAD FAULT ADVERTISING.

THEY ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND DO THE BEST JOB THEY CAN. WE HAVEN'T GOTTEN ENOUGH RAIN FOR MY LAWN TO BE REAL THICK AND GREEN, BUT THAT ISN'T THE COMPANY'S FAULT. THEY DO A GOOD JOB.

I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THIS COMPANY. THE WORK WAS PERFORMED VERY PROMPT AND PROFESSIONAL. WHEN THE GRASS WAS COMPLETED IT LOOK HEALTHY AND BRIGHT GREEN.

THEY DO AN EXCELLENT JOB. THEY COME AND GO WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. MY LAWN LOOKS JUST BEAUTIFUL. THEY ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH THEIR SERVICES.

I WOULD SAY A GOOD AND QUICK COMPANY TO USE. THE PRICE IS VERY REASONABLE. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS ARE EXCELLENT. THE ONLY PROBLEM, THEY ARE VERY HARD TO GET IN CONTACT WITH.

THEY DO A PRETTY GOOD JOB. THEY COME OUT SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR UNDER THE SERVICE CONTRACT WE HAVE WITH THEM. WE PAY FOR THEM YEARLY AND WE HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEM.
