Estimator arrived on time. Very polite and professional. After examining the roof, indicated that the work was outside of their usual scope. I had described the roof well to the woman who scheduled the appointment so I'm not sure what changed when the man saw the roof. However, I appreciated being honestly told that they could not perform the work. The estimator then spent some time with me discussing various roofing and door options that I should consider when getting estimates from other companies. I really appreciated him giving this advice even though he wouldn't be doing the work. Impressive customer service.

Work went very well. They arrived on time and finished on time. They were extremely professional and were a pleasure to deal with. The results were exactly as they promised, and we have had absolutely no problem with their work.

After Hurricane Sandy came through, we had water leaking onto the master bedroom roof and the gutters pulled away from the garage. A neighbor recommended that we call Shiner Roofing. The person answering the phone was VERY professional and told me just what to expect. The person that came out to provide an estimate was on time, courteous, and professional. The actual work was done ahead of schedule and completed the same day. My experience was excellent. I definitely would recommend Shiner to anyone needing roofing, siding, or gutter repairs.

Our contact with Shiners took more than a few months due to family complications that limited our ability to respond to their estimates promptly. As soon as we signed the contract, the work started almost immediately. And was finished within three weather-possible days.

I am very pleased with the results. I had already discussed from start to finish, see above. I like the fact that Shiner made a follow-up Quality Control inspection and were available to respond to any concerns that we might have had. I am very satisfied with their work, and will be putting them on my preferred contractor list when I need additional work done on my house.

I called a number of companies and most of them were booking months in advance or flat-out said they weren't interested. I checked Angie's List and found that Shiner came highly recommended. I called them and instantly got a human being. Boom, an appointment was scheduled to get an estimate. They were very amenable to both mine and my wife's schedule. If there's one thing in this world I don't understand is insurance but that was no problem for Shiner. They reached out directly to my insurance company and sorted out the details for me. They scheduled the install but of course, because of the nature of replacing a roof, they said that weather may delay the installation. Looking at the weather map, I saw a solid stream of bad weather on the horizon and figured we'd add a few weeks to the installation date. The day of the install, it was pouring rain so the install was postponed. The next day, I went to work. When I got home, there was a sign on my front lawn and a hang tag on my door. The job was done. Excellent work by Shiner. I would definitely recommend them for their pricing, service, help with the insurance but more than anything, following through with their promises. Great work.

We had an excellent experience with Shiner Roofing. I work long hours and could not meet with the company representative. Several other companies demanded to meet with both my wife and I, necessitating that I take off of work. Shiner was willing to work with my wife without demanding that both owners of the house were present when doing the estimate. Shiner was in the mid to more expensive range of estimates that we received, but we found the quality of workmanship and materials excellent. They were able to install soffit venting without removing our gutters as a cost saving measure, and installed a ridgeline vent and high quality shingles. After work began, we discovered that many of the roofing boards on our house had begun to rot, driving up the cost of the project to replace the boards; however, Shiner was able to provide a discount to offset the unexpected costs. Additionally, they consulted with me and showed me the rot to avoid the perception they were attempting to drive up the price. The workers were punctual and effective. Despite the cold temperatures and light snow, they worked throughout the day and as quickly as possible. As an unexpected heavy snow began to fall, they covered the house with a tarp at the end of the first day, which kept the house and roof dry that night. We were particularly impressed that one of the owners came to inspect the house after completion. Fairfax county also inspected the work. We would definitely recommend Shiner to others as their attention to detail and quality were impressive.

There was not one negative experience from start to finish. The sales rep for the windows was punctual and brought a small window as a sample of their product. I had done my research on the windows and these windows were top of the line. I signed the contract and am so glad I did! The windows were installed in one day, the installers were professional, on time, obviously experts at installing these windows, neat, and just a delight. A week after installation, another rep of the company came out to inspect the job and sign off on it. The professionalism of the sales rep, installers, office staff (setting up the appointment time), and inspector is the reason I highly recommend Shiner Roofing, Siding and Windows! Call them....you won't be sorry!

Overall, he did not fix the leak in the roof. He was expensive and he could not fix the leak.

Hiring Shiner Roofing to replace two roofs at our house was an excellent decision on our part. During Hurricane Sandy, we had leaks in our house, which is composed of a 1-story ranch connected to a 2-story addition. We have challenging low-slope roofs that had tar and gravel, which is no longer recommended as roofing material because it is difficult to install, is inefficient, expensive, hard to keep clean, and a pain to repair. We requested bids from three contractors. From the beginning, Shiner staff impressed us as knowledgeable, organized, and efficient. Two sales representatives analyzed the damage. They concluded that the roofs were beyond repair and had to be replaced. They showed us photos and videos to document how the roofs had softened, which was an indication of many rotted areas. The areas where the 2-story addition and the front garage connected to the original house were particularly vulnerable to leaks, and they proposed solutions for that. On the same day, they presented a contract detailing the work to be done, materials, cost, etc. Their cost quotation was similar to the other bids, which were not as detailed and took a month to be sent to us. Shiner scraped off the tar and gravel, replaced the rotted plywood, rebuilt the roofs all the way to the overhang, replaced the cricket next to the garage for better water flow, replaced a cracked skylight, installed a combination of membrane and asphalt shingles, etc. They have a production process that is supervised by an inspector/foreman and the owners themselves. They are true craftsmen, professionals proud of their work, and motivated to do their best. A big plus was that they were always reachable and responded promptly to our calls and questions--unlike the other contractors we dealt with. We are confident that our new roofs will be leakproof, and we are happy that they also add considerable curb appeal and value to our home.

Came out to inspect damage. Repair material required warm weather conditions for application. Made temp repair and called before coming for final repaire once weather was warm. Excellent patch, very nice tidy work. Very professional crew.

Shiner roofing was was very responsive and quickly repaired the gutters which had been dislodged from the house. This was extremely important in order to prevent water damage to my basement. The quality of their work was great and they totally cleaned the area when completed. Delays in getting all work completed were related to the responsible party and Shiner roofing was extremely patient in delaying completion of the work until the coverage issues were resolved, which took six months. They were a pleasure to work with....

Shiner sent a two-person sales team to perform a roof inspection. I felt their findings were very conservative and actually recommended less work than another estimate I had performed. Their pricing for the work to be performed was somewhat higher but not outrageous for what I believed to be a more credible, established company. Everyone has been extremely professional and Shiner conveys a very "corporate" image, as opposed to a couple of guys with a cell phone and a ladder like some companies. I felt they did their best to stick to their promised service window, even though they missed it due to weather. My only real issues are that it was difficult to get itemization in the estimates I requested, and the time from signing the contract to scheduling a delivery window seemed kind of long.

An experienced staff member came and estimated the job. A final estimate was provided once materials were selected. Work was performed on time and with an on site supervisor. We have used Shiner Roofing to re-side our home, replace our roof and most recently to replace a very large deck. We are extremely pleased with this company and highly recommend.

There was poor communication between the office and the crew. The foreman was not aware of several important facets of the work as they were not on the work order. After the crew had left, we inspected the attic and found the attic fan was not removed. The fan could have easily been removed when the roof was opened, but now someone needed to be home with the additional risk of damage to our new carpet and paint inside the house. When the foreman arrived he did not have a ladder to reach the attic hatch. We had informed the office about the need for a ladder. Since the fan was not removed when the work was initially performed, we had considerable inconvenience which was made worse because the foreman had to come again after he obtained a ladder. The proposal also included replacement of the roof on two sheds. As the crew was getting ready to leave, we needed to remind the foreman about the sheds. We asked the foreman about the sheds and the attic fan, and he said they weren?t on the order. These problems indicate poor attention to detail. We would not recommend Shiner Roofing.

The group who actually did the work did a fine job at 30% of the Shiner quoted price. Further, Shiner couldn't make the repair till 6 weeks after the damage was identified.

Shiner did an absolutely superb job from giving an estimate, to roof and gutter installation, to cleanup, to final inspection. We could not be more delighted with the professionalism of the crews and the quality of their work.

The estimate and measurements were done by one crew. The installation crew came and determined we needed new skylights due to the metal roof. Everything was done perfectly and to specification. A final inspector came out to make sure we were perfectly satisfied.

The representative was timely, professional, knowledgeable, and thorough. We have close friends who used Shiner and were thrilled with their work, in addition to the good reviews we have seen on Angie's List. We would like to use Shiner, but the price was quite high, so we will continue to compare roofing companies.

We were very happy with Shiner Roofing. Our roof was completely replaced. Work was exceptional and progressed smoothly. All the people that we worked with were professional. Also, the price was very reasonable. Our roof is similar to a Deck House roof or a commercial [flat] roof. That kind of roof costs much more than a regular [shingled] roof. Also, the cost included the replacement of some of the under structure of the roof. We were especially pleased with the way they were willing to work with us on a variety of tasks associated with the complicated repair and rebuild of our roof. We had been hit by a severe storm, and Shiner Roofing gave us great support. We very much appreciated the advice they gave us throughout the project. The work was completed on time by a VERY competent team. THe crew did a superb job and left the property free of debris with very little damage to the surrounding vegetation. Roof looks fantastic. Will always go with Shiner Roofing.

We had discovered there was a leak somewhere on our roof. The Shiner rep came out and went up onto the roof to identify the issue. He came down with a detailed description (including photographs) of the problem. Additionally, and unasked for, he cleaned away a significant pile of debris that was exacerbating the problem. This ensured that we did not have any further leaks in the period between our contracting Shiner to make the repair, and the repair actually taking place. This period included the visit of Hurricane Sandy and I dread to think how much bad the leak would have been during that storm, had he not done that for us. Unfortunately, Sandy's visit also delayed our repair by about a week as Shiner lost several days during which they could work, and then (completely understandably) prioritised other emergency repairs ahead of us. Throughout this process we were kept informed, and given a new repair date. The work was then done on that date, and the surroundings were left in perfect condition - all associated mess had been cleaned up and removed. We would definitely contact Shiner for any future work we need done, and would recommend them to others in need of similar services.

We needed to replace our roof because of its age and damage. We called three companies for estimation and Shiner Roofing gave us a very good price (not the cheapest one, but fairly good). They seemed to be interested in our business (not like other companies), asked a lot of questions, and examined our attic for any damage. After signing the contract, the whole process was easy ad professional. We will highly recommend Shiner roofing - well established company with good reputation. We are very satisfied with our new roof!

Representative from Shiner came out and did an inspection after I called regarding a leak. He inspected interior of attic and exterior of house to diagnose problem. He was very thorough and showed me pictures of area of concern. The person who came to do the actual work was also very professional and kind. The area was left very clean, and although I will not know if the leak was fixed until we experience some heavy snow or rain, I have every reason to believe the job was done well. I will use Shiner again (they actually had repaired some flashing on my roof several years ago) and would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

Excellent. They did an excellent job on the new roof 5 years ago, so used them again. Very professional & highly competent technically. Excellent work crew, fast, professional, polite and experienced. Excellent office support. Reasonable prices for the quality & warranty.
