Overall it went very well. We got off to a rocky start due to the company not showing at the first appointment. We did get a belated phone call and did reschedule with a small amount of difficulty. We were very pleased with the actual work and honest appraisal from the roofer who came. Overall, we were very happy with the deal and would choose to use Northern Virgina Roofing Co. Again.

My roof was installed in 2003. It had never leaked until SuperStorm Sandy when water dripped into the attic from the area around the chimney, and it hadn't leaked since. I surmised that the caulking may have cracked during the earthquake and the swirling winds of Sandy drove the rain into the cracked caulking. One contractor came out and said because of insurance costs, it would cost $250 to send someone out to recaulk. He suggested that I find a family member to do it. When I saw that NOVA roofing was offering a Big Deal on Angie's List, I signed on. On the scheduled day, I received a phone call about 20 minutes before the appointment. The representative said he was having trouble starting his truck and would call me back within 20 minutes to let me know if he would be able to fix it or if he would need to get a part and reschedule After a half hour with no phone call, I called him; and he said he would be unable to come that day. He said he had looked at my house on the Internet and because the roof was a hip roof and steep, it might cost me another $75. That possibility had been explained in the Big Deal, I was okay with that. On the next scheduled day, the representative came out and confirmed that it would be another $75. I gave him a check, and he left saying that because of the steep roof, it would take two technicians to do the work. On the third scheduled day, he called to say the second technician was not available and they would not be coming. On the fourth scheduled day, I called the office and the receptionist apologized for not calling me to say no one would come that day. On the fifth scheduled day, the first representative and a technician came. The technician climbed on the roof. I was informed that he had recaulked around the chimney and the pipe collars and nailed a loose shingle. By e-mail, I received an estimate for recommended repairs and was told I would receive a vid Replace (4) pcs vinyl gutter guard??????...?? $340 Replace (2) pipe collars???????????...? .$330 Replace 5-10 damaged shingles?????????...$425 Replace 6 broken/ damaged hip and ridge shingles? $310 Total Cost: ?????????????????? $1,405 The estimate seemed high, particularly for the gutter guard, which had been damaged by squirrels. The representative said I probably had squirrels in my attic (I did not). The e-mail also said that I would receive pictures taken by the technician. When I did not receive them within a week, I e-mailed asking about them. I received no response. Without the pictures and given the history, I was not inclined to authorized additional work. Even though I paid $150 instead of the other contractor's estimate of $250, I feel that the company did not act in a professional manner. My roof hasn't leaked since, but it hadn't leaked in the months following Superstorm Sandy either.

Didn't go like I expected. I spent $75.00 for nothing.

He is a master carpenter, contractor and roofer. He knows lots of stuff. I really liked him punctual knowledgable and we definitely would hire him again. It took me a while to find him. I did not know he existed so I had to ask around and do research to find him. We called and he returned my call that day. He gave me a date when he could come and he was here.

I contacted this company to provide an estimate for roof repair as well as work to my gutters,exteriror trim around windows and new shutters. Travis came out on August 8 and was very polite and seemingly knowledgeable. He walked around the property but did not get on the roof or take any measurements as other estimators did. An estimate was promised within a few days. I contacted the company on August 23 and advised that I had not received the estimate. I asked that it by emailed to me. As of August 26, I have heard nothing. Perhaps my job was too small to interest this company.

The inspector notified us that he would come during the day when we weren't going to be home and leave us a write-up. There was no write-up that day and no further contact. We assumed that everything was OK with the roof. It turns out there were missing shingles and the condition deteriorated until we had a leak during a rainstorm. Fortunately our damage was not serious.

The service was most unsatisfactory. I had purchased a big deal for the service and I did not take their offer of additional services that they thought I needed. I had trouble setting up a schedule with them, and when they came, they were unable to get their equipment to get onto the roof, and when they came back, I was not here. I know that they came because someone saw them, but it took me 4 weeks of additional phone calls, and emails to get the report of what they had done. The report that I got, was very short, uninformative, and included an offer to replace 2 roof tiles, that had something on them at the cost of 475 Dollars. The picture that they sent me, looked like someone had put some sort of glue, on the top of the shingles, it looked like somebody had done something on it. No one has ever been on my roof, so I don't know what that is all about. In my opinion, this was a created situation, and I refused the offer. I don't thing what I got was worth the amount I had paid for the big deal.

Checked outside and roof. Corrected a few small things. Told us we had no leaks, and everything went fine.

Will never use them ever ever....

I was considering getting gutter guards and called to find out more. He said he'd send me a link to a video, but never did. His crew showed up unexpected on Saturday, prepared to replace my gutters. I found that extremely annoying. I told the men they could go up on the roof and inspect it. One guy got up there and started caulking. I called the owner to complain and while I was on the phone, the crew came back with the results of the inspection, showing me badly cracked and deteriorated collars on my exhaust pipes. After negotiating with the owner, I approved having them change out these collars. At the end of the day, I was pleased with the work they did, but I really felt they were trying to pull a fast one, showing up like that and caulking my roof without my approval. The owner acted like he was doing me a favor, throwing in the cost of that caulking. I know we're all trying to stay afloat out there, but this verged on predatory. I said above that I would use them again, but I wouldn't if I found another provider whom I trusted more.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. We paid 75 bucks for probably $10 worth of repairs and a sales pitch for a new roof. The guy was very nice and polite. The work seems to be holding. They were very responsive. We might use them again; don't know.

Travis was knowledgeable, informative and thorough. Their estimate was higher than others received for some basic/comparable elements so I did not use them.

Evaluation went good, timely and professional. However, took awhile to get estimate, afterward sent email to agree to estimate and when to schedule, no response to scheduling, so after repeated emails found someone else. Realized I could have had a free "evaluation" when contractors came to look to do estimate. I would say, most "evaluations" are a waste of money, since they would anyway if you had someone checking a problem and I did have leak.

The service provider came to the house and performed an inspection. Afterwards he told me that we needed a new roof immediately and that nothing could be done to fix the roof in the mean time. He did not even offer to do any temporary patching or tarping to help keep water from leaking inside the attic in the mean time. In addition to not having any services rendered during the visit we did not receive the promised estimate from this gentleman until nearly a month after the fact. Essentially, I feel like I wasted my money.

The person estimating the work, was on time and professional and provided an immediate contract. The follow up to get the actual work scheduled was not easy. It took several calls to this company to get the work lined up. Of note is that the person in the office (who was excellent) was trying to assist with scheduling but was at the mercy of the supervisor and that is what made it frustrating. It took several calls and schedule adjustments to get the roofer out. They then took photographs and informed me that I had missing shingles (which I knew) and that the original installation on my roof (about 12 years earlier) was never done properly and that they recommended it be fixed. I had that additional work completed by them but was not highly confident that it was completely necessary.

Excellent service. Company rep was very prompt and repaired roof area quickly. I would definitely use this company again.

Work was never performed. Could not contact company to establish a service date. I think the overwhelming response to the deal exceeded the company's ability to meet demand.

Inspection of roof went well--did just what they said they would do.

They were thorough and they did good work.

Travis came out and looked at it. I needed to seal some pipe collar and he said the deal would not cover it. It was a misunderstanding so I was refunded.

Excellent experience overall. We would definitely call/use NV Roofing again--including for bigger jobs. We were especially impressed with the fact that the specialist did not come off the roof with a long, exaggerated list of supposedly "must do" repairs. Very honest and straightforward. Ensured that homeowners understood the findings and what we could expect in the future. As a specific example of the outcome, during heavy rains, we had a small drip in the attic from a flashing problem around a roof vent stack. Specialist told us it was not a big problem, and the caulking he used should fix it. During the next big rain, not a drop! Great job!

The work was done in 2 days, one day for the inspection and the next day to do the caulking. Ryan came on time and inspected the roof. He was very polite and said the roof was in good shape, but that he would caulk around chimney and some pipes on roof. He came back 2 days later and finished the roof. All went well

Angie's list deal was for inspection and repair. They came out (late) and did a visual inspection, and stated that they would not replace 10 missing shingles. Not really sure what they "repaired", but since the value of the Angie's list was supposedly $475, I can't imagine paying that money for the 15 minutes they were at my house. Contacted the company, but no resolution was achieved, and though I know they were doing the deal to generate business, I have no confidence that they would perform good work, when I feel that all I got for $75 was a line of bull.
