I would say to others to not use them because they are mean and they were terrible. My husband is the military and this has been my 12th move since I got married. It took me three weeks to get them to come out. They were late; they got here by noon when they were supposed to be here at 8 AM. They said that they had to stuff the stuff onto the truck. They smashed things, they broke things, they packed things on fragile things and it was the worst moving that I have had in 27 years. That is real hard. I have even moved from Italy and then we came back, nothing was broken. I've moved from Washington DC to Norfolk which is three hours and I had over $3000 worth of damage for everything. The actual packers were okay, but everybody else was very bad. They broke wind trays, they broke a freezer, they broken patio table and I only got the one leg of the frame and that was it, they broke a picnic basket, and they broke a total figurine, they broke plates and it's a long list of the things that they broke. There were three different people from three different companies who did the moving for me from Italy and everything came back safe. It was great, there was nothing broken despite it coming from that far in the ship, and then it was loaded onto a truck and it came over and then we had to wait until I got a house. I put them in the storage for a little bit and then it came out and went back on the truck and go through a terrible service. I would never use them again.

I love them. They have nice beautiful new trucks so you don't have to worry about cruddy floors. They sent over all female packers. They were amazing. I felt like I could trust them in my house. They weren't smokers or anything. They were very professional and trust worthy. Then they sent a team of men to do the loading and unloading. The important thing to me was the packers and that my stuff wasn't on a disgusting truck so that's why I picked them.

JK Moving Services provided amazing service from start to finish! We began with their portable "valet" units. We called in the morning and had a unit in our driveway that afternoon. These valet units were great for early packing and de-cluttering before putting our house on the market. They picked them up as each was filled and stored them safely until our move. Once we had a move date, we contacted JK for an estimate. Easy to schedule and we got a detailed estimate after a walk-thru of our home and discussion of the job. The move was scheduled over two days - on day one, crew emptied our house and a unit at a nearby long-term storage facility. The next morning, the crew unloaded everything at our new home. JK had the two valet storage units delivered at the same time and the crew unpacked those as well. I cannot say enough good things about the crew that handled our move. We had the same 8-person team on both days. The attitude among the group was so positive. They acted as if there was nothing they would rather be doing than moving our belongings. This carried through two long days, even when it poured down rain on the second morning! These folks truly work as a team. The communication and interaction was practiced and efficient. Each was focused on the task at hand with no one wandering off to chat on a cell phone or become otherwise distracted. Each piece of furniture was fully wrapped and carefully moved. Lamp shades were well packed and arrived as good as new (as did everything else). A quality assurance manager stopped by our house on day one to make sure all was going well and someone from the JK office checked in with us at least once on both days. Before unloading the first thing at our new home, wood and carpeted pathways were fully covered for protection. There is a tremendous difference between hired muscle and professional movers. As heavy and bulky items were moved, two member teams communicated each action, with each partner repeating the words to ensure both understood how an item was going to be handled as it was carried. They navigated stairs and tight hallways with ease, although I'm sure it was their expertise that made it look easy. All boxes were placed neatly in designated rooms. When we settled up on the second day, we were pleased to find that the actual price was very close to the estimate - no unpleasant surprises! The moving experience could not have gone any better. From drop off of the first valet portable storage unit until the last box came through the door at our new home, JK provided first class service. They are absolutely the best!!

The estimator was very professional and personable. He gave me a lot of good tips on packing. The packing crew was excellent. All very pleasant with clean uniforms. Very professional and competent. I give them all A grades.

A disaster! Broken furniture, lost furniture and other belongings, over a year and a half to obtain a settlement that cleared less than 30 cents on the (licensed) appraised dollar value - all this despite JK's website claim "our claims processing is among the fastest in the industry" and despite the thousands of dollars we paid for the "full value coverage." Among the lost items was the priceless last painting my mother (a watercolourist) completed just before her death. JK Moving and Storage took over Relo (moving and storage company) after our goods had been moved by Relo into their storage facility. We paid thousands of dollars to Relo and then to JK for continuing "full replacement value coverage" during the moves (into and out of storage) and throughout the time our goods were in storage. When JK moved our furniture and household goods out of storage we found substantial breakage of furniture and of fragile packed items. Also both furniture and boxed items were missing. Breakage included broken solid wood frames of two sofas as well as broken wood sofa arms and shattered legs and seven standing lamps damaged beyond repair. Missing furniture included a full-height rosewood wall unit, a marble table top and two sofa sectional pieces. A certified appraiser (at our expense of more than $3000) prepared an appraisal of documented breakage and loss; also attached to the claim was an itemized and valued list of a number of valuable items which were missing but for which we lacked photographic evidence. JK eventually turned the claim over to its insurance company (Transguard). We had to retain counsel to get them to respond after all deadlines set for the industry claim process were missed (by JK and then by Transguard). More than 12 months after the move, settlement was offered for approximately 25% of the documented claim. After more than 18 months since the move - and very substantial legal fees for us - our attorneys were able to negotiate a better settlement (approximately 65% of the documented claim). However, with the legal fees and the cost of the licensed appraiser's work, the final settlement will allow us to clear a little less than 30% of the documented claim for repair and replacement. Only now - 19 months later - can we have valuable broken furniture repaired, a small fraction of our lost things replaced, and get on with our lives.

I thought they did an excellent job.

We used JK without comparing / competing with other movers for a long distance move, because we were delighted with them on a local move years earlier, had recommended them to many friends, and, checking websites, their reputation remained outstanding. That was our mistake, however. If we had known the experience was going to be like it was, we would have competed it. The service was not much different from that we had with other reputable movers (we have moved long distance a couple other times), so definitely not worth the non-compete premium we paid. The insurance was not cheap (not sure if there is any alternative, or if it is any different elsewhere though) and with the number of items that were broken or damaged, our net loss with cost of insurance, damage estimate and deductable was shy of $1000. There were a few little things, but to identify a couple examples: arriving a day ahead of time agreed with driver, slow responsiveness on claim. Were not saying JK is bad, quite contrary. You should not be afraid to use JK. Overall the service was good, and the staff were friendly and easy to work with. We're just saying that we were much less happy this second time vis the premium for the service. Unfortunately, you cannot go after the fact to say "we think we paid too much for the promise of service from your reputation and that you did not live up to". Would we use JK again? Take our lesson learned, we recommend you only select them if they actually are (or very close to) the best price compared to at least two other reputable movers that you have vetted.

After 11 years in the military, I can say that I have NEVER had so much damage and headache. I paid for a crate for packing granite tops to a baker's rack. When they arrived 2 were broken because they didn't pack them in the crates I paid for. My cream colored sofa (which I carefully put arm overs on prior to the move) arrived without the arm covers and with black grease on the arm. I had scratches on my dresser, my washer and dryer. A whole box of things was missing and never accounted for (mostly linens). They were to help me pack some things for the local portion of the move -- when I went back to finish packing I couldn't find my packing material. After the move I found my packing materials packed in a box. Genius! After packing my household good, the place was left in a mess. The overall costs were much higher than originally discussed. They never sent anyone to repair the granite or to remove the grease from my new cream sofa. My emails and calls were largely ignored until I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

The initial consultation from Rory was very simple. He's honest, straightforward, and professional. He did not "sell" his service like the sales reps from the other companies did. His was the highest estimate, which left me hesitant to use JK, but Rory's professionalism won me over. On move-out day, the six-man crew arrived right on time, and everyone greeted me with a smile. The lead guy, Roy, was great! He introduced me to the crew, asked me to walk everyone through the house, and told me exactly what to expect. The crew immediately went to work, laying plastic and cardboard trails throughout my house to protect the floors. They asked my permission before removing my front door for easier access, which I appreciated. These guys were fast, but careful, emptying my house in no time. They closed up the trucks, and followed me to a family member's house to pick up more of my stuff I was storing there. They whisked it all away in crates with no issues. A month later when it was time for them to deliver to my new house, I requested the same crew and was delighted to see most of the same guys again. They hauled it all into the new place, putting each item in the room I requested. Again, no issues with move-in, either. The whole process was so much simpler than I expected. The guys JK sent were fantastic...seriously exceeded expectations. Roy was a consummate professional and very courteous. Taval was awesome...super nice guy and worked his butt off. He hauled my piano around like a pro! That guy is seriously strong. Speaking of strong, Jose was like an ox. He could carry anything...even moved a 90lb potted plant from the first location to the second, which was not their responsibility. Michael was the guy that packed everything into the storage crates on the truck. I swear, he must have killed at Tetris as a kid. There wasn't a space in the crates he didn't fill. I think he saved me a few hundred dollars that I would have spend on an extra crate if someone less skilled was packing it. I wish I remembered the other guys' names. They were all so great to have in my homes and handled my stuff adeptly. I packed all my own boxes. Nothing was damaged. All furniture was protected perfectly. Throughout the process, the little things surprised me. I already mentioned the friendliness of the crew, the efforts they went through to protect the floors, moving the huge potted plant for me, and going to a 2nd location. In addition, I discovered that while packing, I had used a bad roll of tape that was coming off some boxes. Roy noticed this before I had a chance to tell him, and he was already retaping a bunch of my boxes! After they left my new house, I realized they had rebuilt the furniture that had been taken apart...beds, dining tables, coffee tables. During move-in, our initial estimator, Rory, even dropped by to see how things were going. I found that far above and beyond. I wouldn't hesitate to use JK again and recommend them very highly. Every aspect of the move exceeded my expectations. Oh, and to top it all off, the price came in considerably lower than the original estimate. Score!

I come from a military family and have moved too many times to count so I've had a lot of experience with moves. These guys were, without question, the best movers I've ever had. They were punctual, professional, fast, polite, careful, and everything you would want movers to be. The price was also extremely good for the quality of service. Other places will give cheaper hourly quotes but you get what you pay for. Actually, I think these guys ended up being cheaper overall because they were so fast. I'd definitely use this company again.

I was originally scheduled to move (with the help of friends) over a weekend, but because my condo closing date was pushed back, I had to find professional movers at the last minute - less than a week's notice. While I obtained JK Moving through a co-worker rather than Angie's List, I was extremely pleased with my experience and wanted to submit a report. I contacted three companies and JK Moving was the first to respond and get a moving consultant out to my apartment within a day. All of my belongings were already packed so all I needed was someone to move my boxes and furniture. The estimate was $850, but the final bill came out to just over $700 because the 3-man crew was super efficient. Roger was the lead and did a great job and were very professional. I was told to expect them between 9-10 a.m. and they arrived at 9 a.m. on the dot. While the crew was fast, they were very careful with everything. Before unloading at my new building, they taped down cardboard - creating a pathway for the dollies, carts, etc - in the lobby and in my condo. The manager at my new building commented that that's the first time she's seen movers do that - typically she has to bring out a rubber mat. Roger and his 2 colleagues were just as careful unloading and stacking my boxes as they were loading it all. They also set up my beds. They made what was the tail end of a stressful process (packing, delayed closing on the condo, finding movers at the last minute) much less stressful than what it could have been.

I thought the price was very high until I saw how hard they worked. They are machines. Well worth the money. They almost never took breaks. Unreal. Nothing was broken and they loaded, moved, and unloaded a full truck in one day. Well worth it.

JK Moving actually called me asking if I wanted an estimate (around the time I put my house on the market). They were the first ones to call. They arrived on time for the estimate. Eric was very informative, provided information and materials explaining their services, explained the optional insurance, and provided a clear estimate (emailed to me on the spot). Price was a bit higher than some other movers, but I got a better feeling from JK that they would take care of me during my move. I made the right choice. Before the move, I visited their location in Sterling and got some free "used" packing materials. They collect the boxes from previous moves and if they are in good shape, make them available to other customers for free. Excellent service to offer; I got all my boxes this way and got most of my other materials for nothing by using my coupon provided during my estimate. The movers arrived on time and began work immediately. They protected the floors, carpets, walls, stairs, etc. They wrapped all furniture with blankets and plastic wrap. They worked non-stop, moving all my furniture and household items, including large plants, pots, and other various misc items. They brought in wardrobe boxes, assembled them for me, and I filled them. All work was done on time, per the estimate, and there was no damage to my houses or my belongings. I was amazed at how they worked and the quality of what they did. The cost may be higher than some other movers, but it was well worth it. I have used other movers in the past, and you get what you pay for. I would definitely use JK Movers again.

The crew was very prompt and worked quickly--getting the packing and moving done in 1 day. The final price was below the estimate. However, it seemed like a less experienced crew, which resulted in minor damage (Sharpee mark on an end table and a damaged lamp shade) that a more experienced crew would likely have avoided.

The company responded timely. They sent someone out for an in-home estimate. Their prices were reasonable for a long distance move. The movers were very professional and arrived on-time - both for pick-up and delivery. The time between the pick-up and delivery was reasonable. I would recommend them.

I choose JK Moving because they advertised they were especially careful with wood flooring. I moved out of my house the end of August. There were five men in the crew -- only one of which seemed to speak "marginal" English. A rainstorm came up during the move and they had a large chest of drawers with a hutch top sitting, covered with a pad, out in the rain for about 20 minutes. When they put it on the truck, they did put on a dry pad, but I was worried about that piece of furniture regarding mildew or mold for the six weeks of storage. As the moving out went along, I noticed about a 10 foot scrape in the wood floor of the bedroom area and another smaller, maybe five foot lighter scrape in the family room. I called to report this during the move and a few days later a man called from JK Moving to see about a claim to rectify this. It cost $200 to have this sanded and buffed out and I thought it would be deducted from my move in costs in early October. That didn't happen and I had to call and send an email letter to get a check for $200 sent to me. At that time, I said I didn't understand why I was being charged more ($2000) for the move - in which was a much easier task than having to hand carry everything to the street for the move-out in August. Turns out that JK Moving had charged my credit card for storage for the entire month of October and the office had also charged my card for the month of November! I hope there is a credit of $750 coming on my credit card bill this next month as promised by JK Moving. Overall -- not good!

The packing was performed on one day. The entire move (load and unload) was done the second day. The packers and movers were all very friendly and helpful. They were in good spirits, chatting, and laughing together the whole time. That actually makes a difference. You worry more when the people working for you appear to hate their jobs. They always double-checked with us regarding where things should go and then asked at the end if we wanted anything moved or rearranged in the destination house. The estimate we had was for $4600, so the final price ended up $500 more. I was expecting the final price to go up a little bit, so this was not a surprise.

My overall experience would have been an "A" but the first group of movers that arrived had a crew chief that was unprofessional, verbally combative and unbelievably disrespectful. When they arrived I asked him a few questions about the moving process and he told me, like a drill sergeant, to chill out and not worry about (not really what I wanted to hear when I had very expensive custom made furniture to move) . I really didn't want a confrontation on our moving day so I backed off. I asked him one more question a few minutes later and he glared at me with a look that indicated to me that he may get violent or at the very least not care if my belongings were handled with care. It was at that point that I demanded that he leave my house and take the 6-7 boxes off the truck that they had put on. I called JK Movers to complain and they sent another group of movers (THE SAME DAY!!!) who were very professional, very respectful and pleasant. The second crew was AMAZING with a capital A!! I felt completely at ease with the second moving crew, I didn't have any questions because the crew chief thoroughly explained the process in advance and I could tell from there actions that they were all very professional. They laid down paper runners and thick cardboard anywhere there was hardwood (unlike the first crew) and they laid down plastic runners everywhere there was carpet (unlike the first crew). They wrapped all the furniture top to bottom in thick moving blankets (unlike the first crew), then wrapped the whole thing in plastic wrap. They even had boxes for odd things like garden tools, floor lamps and flat screen televisions, which the packaged with care. They also had hanging boxes for clothes!! Everytime they were about to move a piece of furniture they would call me or my wife into the room and point out any defects that already existed on the furniture before they wrapped or moved it. They did not bump one wall or damage any furniture... and we had a ton of furniture. With the second crew it was flawless from beginning to end. As I said before my rating would have been an "A" if it weren't for the first Crew Chief that arrived.

Everything went absolulely excellent. They made it completely worry free and they did a 5 star job all around. I would highly recommend them.

They are very professional. The quote that they gave me was spot on. They are very efficient, punctual and they take very good care of my stuff. First time I used them was from Maryland to Virginia and then the other time was basically five minutes from one house to other. Both times it was very good experience.

Person giving the estimate arrived on time and sent us an estimate the next day as promised. We were given a time of arrival between 8 am and 10 am. They arrived at 8:15 am Had me walk them thru the house and show/verify everything They were very efficient, knew what they were doing, packed mirrors and tv's - there was not a problem with anything. Used another company to move into this same place and their understanding of how to move furniture up stairs cases was a fiasco. JK was professional, new how to move everything - no a second wasted on trying to figure anything out. They actually finished ahead of time and we paid less than our estimate. I highly recommend these people

The quality of services provided by this company was outstanding. They were timely, responsive and cordial. They were very careful with our belongings and greatly protected our homes from damage. We then and now recall our move with great satisfaction, largely due to their service excellence. As a result, we would be very confident in using their services in the future and indeed will likely do so.

They responded quickly, but the information was clearly a stock response. They offered no total price, just a list of fees. I calculated the final price of everything myself, and the quote was well over twice what I've been quoted elsewhere.

We were impressed with JK from the beginning, starting with moving consultant John Freudiger. He was very thorough and knowledgeable and stayed in close contact with us, as did customer service coordinator Shirley Perrotta. We had complication -- an act of God-- in which a neighbor's tree fell on our house, and this delayed our move as we had to get the repairs done before closing could occur. John was very understanding and canceled our reserved date. I didn't know until several days later when we might try to reschedule, and when it looked like we might be able to leave sooner than we'd expected, he got back to me quickly to say that our new date was available. On move-out day there were around six men to do the work, and they were very efficient, taking great care to pad and wrap the items that we couldn't pack ourselves (mirrors, wall art, flatscreen TVs, etc.). We were impressed with their friendly professionalism, not only to us as the customers, but also among themselves. They had good attitudes throughout the entire process. We bought lunch for the crew which surprised and pleased them, as they did not expect it. They took inventory of each and every piece, and put a numbered sticker on every item so we could check the items off as they were unloaded at our final destination. Unloading in Idaho went very well, too. Even though the crew on the other end were not JK employees, they were a local company that must have been very well vetted because they listened to their boss James Stewart the JK driver and followed his directions to a "T". Once again, this team (Merchants Moving and Storage in Boise, ID) was awesome. (I will write a separate review for them.) There was minimal breakage/damage which could have happened anywhere in the process and some might have been the fault of poor packing on our part. The few boxes marked "fragile" had no breakage whatsoever. The delivery was made on the last day of the contracted delivery window which ended up being on a Sunday. Sure, we would have liked delivery a few days earlier, but it was within the contracted timeframe, and it's proof that JK honors that, even if on a Sunday. We had a very positive experience and will recommend JK to our friends and family.

They were excellent. We have moved several times and they were the smoothest we have ever had. We had no issues whatsoever. I would recommend them to other members. They were fabulous. I spent around $5000 on that work. I liked everything about them. They were very professional and efficient in the packing. Nothing broke and it was packed really well so that no scratches would get on them. We had good piece of mind. I had never seen furniture packed so well. They were prompt, on time and moved in efficiently. They put the stuff wherever we wanted and everything was great.
