Description of Work: Plowed and shoveled driveway after massive snowstorm. Quickly responsive and punctual (fit me in). Excellent work! Job took 2.5 hours, but I was billed for 3 hours. I asked about it, but was told that computer "automatically" bills that way. Would not negoitiate.

Description of Work: HEMAX responded immediately to a last minute call and sent their two absolutely great landscapers to do a day's worth on work in less than three hours. Work involved removing and replacing a large magnolia bush, and several large shrubs, trimming several other trees, and weeding. Absolutely a great job. Have never been happier with this company. Strongly urge anyone to contract with them for service if you want the job done right.

Description of Work: Took out our disintegrating cement front porch and rebuilt it completely, but in a way to prevent any future deterioration. Replaced the front pillars. Also replaced my brick front walk with pavers and made it the nicest one in the neighborhood. Took out all the front shrubs, which needed to go. They basically transformed the curb appeal of our house. Excellent work, helped by having skilled workers with the right tools, including a back hoe and a paver cutter.

Description of Work: Hemax helped with water issues in our basement. They dug up the foundation and resealed it on three corners of our house. They graded the water away from the house with tamped dirt and clay. They installed a sump pump in our basement and connected it with a below grade exterior stairwell that did not have a drain. Finally, they dug up and lay pvc pipe from the down spouts on the house and installed dry wells for the run off (if you have down spouts under ground insist on pvc pipe installation - you cannot clean a blockage of the plastic that people prefer to lay (less work) without destroying the pipe). Henry or his brother were at the work site every day. They took pictures of what they were doing and confirmed that they were doing what we had agreed to. In addition, my neighbor, who used to build speck houses and is an informed consumer of these types of services, was very impressed with the quality of their work.

They were very punctual, very friendly, and very professional. They were also very knowledgeable and very easy to work with. They were just fantastic.

+ 1 moreI am extremely happy with the results. Hemax gave us a written estimate and completed the work before other contractors submitted their estimates. (Hemax's bid was in line with the others I received). That meant a lot to me as I really wanted to get this fixed so my daughter could go back to enjoying our back yard rather than having to tell her that her swing set was off limits because of the persistent flooding. Hemax offered to haul in and out all of the dirt and other supplies by hand. The other contractors wanted to use a backhoe which would have required us to either move some well established shrubs and risk damaging them or pull down a section of fence and deal with a rather unhelpful neighbor. This meant a lot to me that they were willing to use labor instead of heavy machinery and do it at the same price as the other contractors. The solution to the flooding in our back yard required a complex and well thought out plan and that's what I got from Hemax. The yard has been dry since the work was completed. And my daughter and her friends have been able to enjoy our backyard once again. I am very happy with the work Hemax did, how they cleaned up at the end of the day and at the end of the project, and for their intelligent crafting of a durable solution to this problem.
Description of Work: Hemax helped identify the source of flooding in our backyard (which hadn't flooded in the previous 18 years we have lived in this house) and installed a large interconnected french drain system and did some landscapping to help the lawn drain better.

He was very professional and had good suggestions for various approaches to the problem and what needed to be done. He provided examples of other similar work so that I could see what it looked like. The estimate arrived in about two days, and I thought that the price was fair for the work to be done. The team actually came a day earlier than expected, because it was going to rain on the scheduled day. The work was completed in one day, and the result is very solid - on par with the materials and work you see along highways. Even my husband was satisfied, and he's very picky. Any questions I had were quickly answered by Marlin in the office. Payment was easy, using PayPal. I am very satisfied, and we are planning to use them for another project in the near future.
Description of Work: We had a ditch/swale in the front yard that was flooded and filled in with silt and rocks. Hemax dug it out, filled with a base material, reinforced the sides of the ditch and then put in large, highway-style rocks to handle the water flow to the drain pipe. About 30 feet of ditch, by 6 ftt wide.
