The serviceman arrived earlier than scheduled which was great because I needed to get to work. He was in and out in about 30 to 45 minutes. He explained that a part needed replacing and went through the numbers with me. I ended up buying their 1 year maintenance contract. I hope not to have to use it but the twice a year checkup is worth it.

Our A/C was not cooling down the house so we had Garneski come out. The individual that came out was polite, explained what was going on, and what our options were. He said there was a leak and that he could refill it, but there was no guarantee that it would last (could be 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months). He advised against paying for the leak test based on the age of the system (~17-18 years), but mentioned they could quote us on a new system. We went ahead with the recharge since we wanted a quick fix and knew we would want to have more than one quote for the whole new system (whole new system = 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs). After calling the owner, our technician advised that the owner wanted to come out and review all the options with use before giving us a quote for the new system. The owner (Mr. Garneski) followed up with us after we contacted him for a quote and apologized that they didn't get back to us sooner (they did not have power/phones due to the recent bad storms). He came out personally, took his time and presented his quotes. We appreciated the follow up!

I will not call this company again.

The air conditioning system was not working properly so I called for service. The Garneski service technician found the condenser fan motor was not working and possible compressor problems. Our AC/central heating system was over 27 years old and never had any extraordinary service performed. Fall furnace startup inspections for the past 2 years suggested that the entire system would need replacing soon. Garneski gave me an estimate to repair the existing problem along with a quote to replace the entire system. Subsequently I requested system replacement quotes form two other vendors for evaluation. I also decided to replace our water heater at the same time. The entire HVAC system and water heater were replaced within a few days of when we made our decision to go with Garneski.

Of course our AC failed when we had relatives in town during last week's little heat wave. Used Angie's List to find someone with good reviews as we haven't had work done on the units before - so we thought it was the place to go. Office staff was extremely friendly, had someone out as soon as they could, which was the next day. The technician arrived, he was very friendly, seemed very knowledgable. Cost us $79 per unit, for a total of $158 just to check the functionality of two systems we have. He found that our upstairs unit wasn't functioning properly and that he needed to perform a leak test with nitrogen to find the problem. As they don't carry the nitrogen in their vans, he had to return the next day to perform the test. We were also informed that since there was basically zero R22 left in the unit, it's a large leak.The technician returned the next day to perform the leak test, it didn't take long to find the hole in the outside heat pump. Two of the copper lines had rubbed together creating a hole (technician showed me exactly what had happened - easily seen - why a leak test was needed when there was such an obvious issue, not sure). We went back inside to discuss options which was repair or get a new heat pump. Estimated cost of repairing the hole, evacuating the systems, and recharging the R22 was $1296! The nitrogen test that was just completed was $560! I was told that most of their pricing was a flat fee. So no matter what, a nitrogen leak test was $560 (whether it took 30 minutes to find or 5 hours), recharge was somewhere around $550, (no matter how much R22 was needed) etc. All in all, I would be spending a little over $2000 from start to finish - I just couldn't believe it. I've called a few other places and will be saving about $500 going with another company for the repair, evac, and recharge of the system. Will provide a review of them too when the work is complete! Pricing - I gave an F for the reasons listed above.Quality - I gave a C as I think a thorough inspection in the first place would have identified the hole and perhaps eliminated the $560 leak test. I am not an expert by any means, but I just couldn't give the quality a 'good' rating. I also requested an estimate for a completely new system and haven't received it, yet.Everything else was an A - so my overall assessment was a D, as I really feel my experience was 'bad' and not 'fair'

I had used Garneski's for many years and we checked with them when my daughter's furnace and air conditioner gave out. We dealt with the owner, Frank, himself and he laid out multiple options at various prices. My daughter opted for the basic, lowest cost units with Frank's assurance that they were good units that would get the job done. He gave me a long time customer discount plus the Angie's List coupon. His workmen arrived on the day specified in the same week we talked to him and did a professional job. They continue to be a good company to deal with.

Air conditioner started to not cool the house sufficiently. After reading the reviews, called Garneski for a service visit. Technician arrived exactly on time. Very professional, knowledgeable, helpful with explanations, even wore booties in the house (impressive). Decided on a short term fix to add freon. We were roasting without it. Got quotes from a large local company and Garneski. Garneski's bid was $350 lower, the Carrier equipment he proposed was higher rated than than the other's marginally reviewed low-end Lennox, and his schedule availability was sooner. Couldn't be happier. For both the measurement visit and actual installation, technicians arrived as scheduled. Their work was very neat and tidy. The system is an unbelievable improvement over the house's original 17-year old equipment. Multi-speed fan, two stage furnace, 110K BTU's vs 80K, 25% larger air intake. The house heats and cools in a fraction of the time it did previously. I would recommend Garneski to anyone and will use them for future heating and AC needs.

Service Rep arrived on time. He was friendly and courteous. He checked the AC/Heat Pump, replaced the filters for me. After the check was completed, he provided me with a detailed description of the work performed. We have a yearly contract, so no payment was made.

The maintenance service man spent an hour assuring that the A/C was ready for summer.

The two employees were very professional and worked without stopping to get it installed and working within the estimated hours.

Garneski's customer service focus is extraordinary. Like many busy families, we rely on in-home service for many items--Garneski is, hands-down, the most reliable, professional of all. Over the course of many years, I know from experience they will be at our home at the designated time, or will call to let me know of a delay, and more importantly, ask if that means we would like to reschedule. Compared to having to take a half a day off to wait for the ubiquitious 4 hour scheduling block, or waiting for a late (cable guy, exterminator, painter, lawn care service, carpet cleaner, washer repair man, you can fill in the rest),Garnkeski's focus and professionalism stands out. In addition to providing a high quality product, their service team is wonderful.

Work was generally good. The workmen left a mess in my utility room, but that was the only real complaint with the install. I've had them out a few times after the install for complaints. They always came on time and fixed the issue without any charges. All the issues, however, were user error on my part. I bought a fairly complex climate system and there was a learning curve on using it. If i have one real complaint it's that they didn't provide any instruction on using the system. A year later I've figured it out and am very happy with the system.

My Whole house Humidifier was not working. This is the second time that it had stopped working. Garneski had serviced the same issue last time. Hence, I called Garneski to investigate the issue. They were able to schedule me on the same day i called and they arrived at the time range that they specified. The checkout out the system and found a fault with the Humidistat, which was still under warranty. I was asked by the technician to contact the manufacturer of the humidistat and get it replaced under warranty. I was able to complete the work myself once i received the replacement from the manufacturer.

Went OK; however, the office staff forgot to tell the repair man the problem were having and he did not have the necessary equipment to complete the work that day. A second visit was promptly scheduled.

It is a lot of money. He was persistent and I didn't like his attitude actually.

Nothing remarkable, really just average or slightly below. I could not understand the technician, even though he seemed very pleasant. English was not his primary language. He spoke very, very quietly and did not answer my questions confidently. I felt so unsure of this tech that I called another company. The other company let me know they checked everything, even the water heater and gave me a detailed, written report. The high-efficiency air filter needed to be replaced; the tech from Garneski seemed to indicate it was okay and did not need to be replaced at that time. The company I called after Garneski sent a responsible tech who noticed the air filter was very dirty; yes, he did show it to me. He looked around the furnace room and found a clean replacement, removed the old filter and replaced it with the new one. Average service from Garneski's.

Called Garneski after reviewing their good record here on Angie's List and noticing our whole house humidifier wasn't working. A technician was sent out literally 3 hours later which was great. Friendly, professional tech came to discover that a necessary part was literally missing...wires just dangling there and nothing attached. Our system had been worked on by another company (blue booties ring any bells??) last season when the furnace kept throwing its breakers. Somehow this much needed part disappeared. Garneski Co. discovered the issue, ordered the brand name replacement part and came back to install it. All in all, this was a very good experience, and never once did we feel we were being duped or lied to. Both techs were actually early and finished in a short amount of time. Straight and to the point.

Realizing that the furnace was older, I first looked at it to make sure it wasn't something I couldn't handle. It appeared to be related to the ignition module and Its lack of consistent spark. I'm technically competent and I'm used to troubleshooting equipment like gas analyzers, etc., I determined it would require special parts usually not in local inventory. Not having one (ignition module) on hand, I knew that I had to act quickly as house guests were due that evening and would not like to be cold. I went to Angies list, saw Garneski's heating had an excellent reputation, and called them. They scheduled for 11am, but the technician callled and said they could be there by 9:00-9:30 AM. I never pass up an earlier service appointment, so I was definitely pleased. The technician showed up promptly with clean room booties in hand and proceded to troubleshoot my furnace. He isolated the ignition module quickly and spent phone time making sure he had a replacement one in stock at his Sterling facility. A half hour round trip to the stockroom produced the module. He read the instructions for replacement of my older part and carefully installed the module. He remained around long enough to verify proper operation and we settled up on the bill. I bought a service contract for the furnace, the accounting worked out to the same price as just a single visit would be. He left at about 11:30 AM with a satisfied customer in a warm house. Yes, I would definitely use Garneski's again. Otherwise, I would not have signed up for a service contract.
