In every home that we have had to replaced the HVAC system we have gone through them without any problems. We really trust them. The way they do business and what they know about their profession is great.

About the technician and overall service: I got an email ~30 minutes prior to arrival when the Tech was on their way to the home which was enough time for me to get home from work. The Tech pretty close to the promised time frame. The tech was respectful, explained things well, listened well to all the information and observations I had, and wore shoe covers inside the house. About our issue: We've owned our home for 5 years and since the beginning we had concerns with our heat pump's operation. The heat pump system was relatively new when we bought the house (installed in 2006) however it just couldn't maintain the set heat temperature on really cold nights. Initially we thought it was just an inherent limitation in the heat pump systems and that we'd have to accept that it's not the same as the forced heat we grew up on and we would just use space heaters in a number of rooms as needed. Over the years I did more research and experimentation and realized that if we put on emergency heat it would heat the house properly. I noticed that on these really cold nights even though it kicked into auxiliary heat and even if I manually put auxiliary heat on it still wouldn't heat unless emergency heat was on. The problem with emergency heat is that it does not go off automatically so it quickly becomes a money sink. Our heat bills would skyrocket when we used emergency heat frequently during cold winters. I looked up the proper wiring for the thermostat and it looked correct. Before cold of winter hit this year I was determined to bring out a contractor to inspect and test the system and make sure it's working correctly. I explained everything I've observed, he listened well and talked through it with me and then went off to do his test of the system. He found that even though the auxiliary heat kicked in it wasn't doing anything b/c the wiring for aux heat was disconnected at the heat pump. He rewired it, tested it, and $172.00 later (inspection + repair) I'm a happy man! I expect we'll make back that $172 pretty quickly with the lower electric bills ;-) I am very pleased with the quality of service and would definitely use Garneski again and recommend them to others.

The AC was totally down. Our previous AC guy passed away the year before. We totally trusted him. He was fair and honest. We needed a new guy who was fair and honest. We went to Angie's and found Garneski's. The serviceman was totally kind, humble and understanding. He diagnosed a single worn out wire, replaced it and repaired the unit. He did not gouge us or give us false diagnosis. I was so impressed, we signed up for a yearly service contract. I love Garneski's and I would recommend them to anyone needing Heating/AC help.

These are professionals that go about their work with precision and organization. To see a tool kit with maintenance individuals that is organized and everything in its place is unusual. Clean, quickly into their work, check to make sure all is neat as they leave. Can not ask for much else.

Our 17 year old HVAC system failed and Garneski's Air Conditioning & Heating was one of several bidders on the project to replace the system. Of the bidders, two were clearly most knowledgable about old, current and cutting edge systems. We chose very high quality equipment for the replacement. While both of the knowledgable companies gave nearly equal proposals, Garneski provided the best price as well as poviding several additional features. We chose Garneski's. The technicians came to work early, worked hard all day, and stayed late to ensure the project was completed in one day. Some of the bidders said the job would be more than one day. Garneski's scheduled their team to respond quickly and within the very narrow time window I had available. The technical crew was knowledgable; friendly; explained whatever they were doing; adjusted their plans to accommodate some unique requirements we had for future house mocdifications; neat; did a professional job; and removed the old hardware, including linesets and wiring that were not in places that were easy to see so that they would not be in the way of potential future projects. This company is excellent to work with.

I called Garneski's Air Conditioning and Heating to top up my R22 (freon) as I was getting icing on my cooling coil, causing the air conditioner not to cool . Garneski's were very responsive and booked an appointment for the next day. When the technician called the afternoon prior to the morning appointment, I was informed that there would be a $75 service charge (OK), and $800 for three pounds of R22. While I appreciated the heads up and was able to cancel the appointment, I found it unbelievable that they would charge over $250/lb for R22. I called another highly rated (Angie's List and Carrier) dealer for a second quote, and was shocked at only $45/lb for R22. My prior experience with Garneski's was good, not sure what changed...

I was very happy with throughout the process. They were very professional and knowledgeable. I will call on them again in the future if I need their services.

The service people are knowledgeable. The people on the phone are always helpful.

Outside AC unit started making a terrible racket at 10 pm and fan for compressor wasn't running. Made an electronic appointment through Garneski website that was confirmed instantly. Got call next morning before 8 for a 1 p.m. appointment that was later moved up to 11:30. Tech identified failed capacitor and after checking with me on the cost, replaced it inside of an hour. This was the hottest day of the year so far and my upstairs was 85 degrees. Cooling down now!

AC quit on a Sunday evening, called Garneski, tech Jimmy retruned my call within 20min. Walked me thru several things to check over the phone and then determined a vist was defintly needed. He arrived next day Monday and determined problem and since it was not a part that normally fails out they did not have one in the inventolry. He located one, via Carrier, and then proceeded to make arrangements to obtain it the fastest way. It has been super hot and overnight shipping meant iwould not have it installed until the day after delivery soooooo they provided same day service by driving to Frederick MD from Sterling VA to pick up the part up for me. Amazing service. They phoned and emailed me updates on technicians status and when he was enroute to me. Always keeping me informed and the staff are nice, friendly and professional. Garneski installed my unit and have serviced it for 3 years and they are always been quality oriented, friendly, and cost effective. The owners, techs and office staff are always grat to deal with. They are one of the best in this area. I certainly recommend them without question.

Most competitive price received from 6 reputable dealers. Measured 2 days ahead of installation. Arrived on time, went right to work and we conducting tests on the system within 3 hours. All went well and they were on their way within 4 hours. Great "house habits" with the little shoes, canvas/sheets over stairs and through rooms to installation in attic. I received the services as expected, but received some conflicting information from different technicians. So, the quality of their technicians seems to vary a bit. I would recommend them, though. They were reliable, and the furnace is working great.

Garneski's wrote: "Thank you for the review. Garneski takes this feedback very seriously. First, Garneski did charge higher. This was an emergency repair on a Saturday after 5 pm. The technician was dispatched from home and did the repair. The AL member was informed that this repair would be charged an afterhours rate. The member agreed to the rate. A week later Garneski was informed that the refrigerant was higher than other companies. This may be true, but would the other companies contacted by the AL member charged for an afterhours call." Yes, we agreed to the $185 service fee (the afterhour call). But let's get this correct, the technician did NOT say, "the freon charge was the afterhours rate". As we mentioned in our emails to Garneski's, who charges more for parts/freon on weekend calls? None of the other HVAC companies we contacted said, "The freon costs is more on weekends.". Additionally, I told Garneski's technician that we have a Spring AC Checkup scheduled for the following Tuesday. Did Garneski's technician recommend that we wait until Tuesday when the freon would be cheaper? NO! Therefore, we had no reason to suspect that the freon price was any different during regular business hours. It wasn't HOT, that weekend. We could have waited til Tuesday on an HONEST recommendation from Garneski's. Yes, other companies have a "charge" for afterhour calls but they don't charge more for freon just because it's afterhours? Would a dentist charge "afterhours rate" for a new crown? Check out some of the other reviews that seem to impy that Garneski's "charges" more: 5/28/13 - "A" review but customer paid $179 (non-emergency) for a fuse 6/5/12 - "D" review R22 $1296 and $560 for leak test! Wow, last month the leak test was $187 (this person really, really got screwed). 6/29/10 - "F" review Garneski's repair quote (non-emergency) was $1175 vs $230 from another HVAC company CONSUMERS BEWARE!

90 degree weather approaching and a/c would not turn on. I figured the thermostat had gone bad, so I replaced it myself. Still wouldn't turn on and I assumed I had either installed it incorrectly or there was something else wrong. I called Garneski first thing in the morning and was told they could come the next day. I would have preferred a same day appointment, but understood that next day was the best they could do. After taking my information, she asked how I had heard of them. when I said I had contacted them because of reviews I read on Angie's List, she suddenly told me that they would be able to come out the same day. Don't know if it was a coincidence that a same day appointment opened up, or if it was just because I had mentioned finding them on Angie's List, but either way I was very happy. At the time of my appointment, the technician called and said he was delayed and would be here in about an hour. I understand such things happen and he arrived exactly one hour later. Turns out I had installed the thermostat correctly, but there was a blown fuse in the furnace. Technician was courteous, professional, and knowledgable, and I am definitely satisfied with the work. My only complaint is that I thought the price was a bit steep. In addition to the $79 service call, I was charged $179 for a fuse (which I could go buy for $1.87) and 30 minutes labor.

I like that the technician, Mr. Phat, shows you what needs to be done and explains the procedure.

The technician arrived a little before the scheduled appointment which worked out great for me. He introduced himself and I showed him where the air handler was located. He then replaced the capacitor and the wire connector in the air handler. These items were pointed out to me during the winter maintenance check covered under my annual maintenance agreement.

I had to reschedule my appointment (they had called me to setup the initial appointment) because of travel and they worked me into an early morning slot. They sent a reminder email a couple days before the appointment and another email when the technician was on his way. He showed up on time, looked and acted professional and friendly. He clearly explained what he was going to do, what he found, and made suggestions on what he could do to remedy issues he found. Based on my previous experience with this firm (repair of my boiler) I knew I could trust what he said. I find if you put your name on your firm you stand behind your employees and your service .. Thanks Mr. Garneski.

Garneski staff was available by phone by 0730 in the morning, and the technician was at my home by 1030. As always, the technician was professional and polite. I have been a satisfied Garneski customer for over 15 years and will continue to give them my business and highly recommend them to others

Garneski is my servicing company for our A/C unit. Yesterday, I had them install a new water heater. I had them scheduled for Spring maintenance already but our water heater tank started to leak. I called them back and asked if I could get a new one installed the same time as maintenance. They accomodated my request. They were scheduled for 9:30 and at 9:35 I recieved an email saying he was on his way. Dalin arrived at 9:45. He drained and removed the old tank then cut out and replaced several lengths of copper pipe including a couple of elbows that had mineral buildup around the seams, the ball valve, and the saddle valve for the humidifier feed. Garneski's techs are always sharp and clean, i.e. they don't have grease or soot stains on their uniforms. They always leave the place as clean as it was when they arrived. Their tools are organized and clean. Their trucks always look practically new. They are knowledgable and will explain all options to you and won't pressure you into expensive repairs. They'll say, "let's try this first, then we'll wait and see if we need to replace part X". I highly recommend their services to all homeowners.

I work the early shift at work so always get a 7:30 appointment and the Garneski worker (PHAT) was more than prompt. Prior to his arrival, Garneski sent me an email with his picture, so I knew exactly who to expect. They also call and email me a day in advance to remind me of my appointment. The worker came, was friendly (also dog friendly which is important to me), neat in appearance, and got right to work. The filter was changed and he flushed out the entire system. He cleaned up the surrounding area and then proceeded outside to work on the outdoor unit. He tested everything, made some repairs and told me that some of the insulation around the back piping had been chewed and removed by the dogs. We got it replaced, so there is no loss of heat or cool air (depending on what I sent my themostat at). Mr. Phat also went over my thermostat to make sure it was working properly.

Overall a great service experience. Would recommend them highly to anyone in need of system repair.

Garneski has restored my faith - customer service is not dead! Jimmy was at my house within an hour of my call - assessed the problem quickly - provided a quote - and arranged a follow-on appointment as a part was required. He called shortly thereafter and explained that he found out a new bracket was required and that it would have to be ordered. He kept me informed about progress and worked with my schedule to have all repaired and back in short order. And the quote stayed the same - no extra charge for the bracket (I did pay for expedited shipping of the bracket with a coupon from Angie's List). I am very impressed.

The service was excellent. The routine maintenance is an excellent service to have. The technicians are pleasant, know what they are doing, and they explain what they are doing in layman's terms. The cost is always competitive and the office staff does a great job. We have no complaints with them. I would highly recommend them.
