I reviewed Doris' website, was impressed, and contacted her via e-mail--to get estimates on custom window treatments for three rooms in my house. She called me the next day, and we discussed specifics. To expedite the process, I gave her the window measurements over the phone and followed up by e-mailing her photographs of each window, with detailed measurements--as well as overall photos of the rooms (please note, I am a photographer, and most customers do not do this). This gave her an idea of the patterns and color scheme of each room. Next, we met at Calico Corners to discuss and select the fabrics for the drapes, etc. We also selected carved wooden curtain rods, curtain rings, finials, medallions and mounting hardware. We placed the order, and I paid a portion of the bill. A few days later, Doris set up a time to come to the house to take final, detailed measurements of each window, before making the window treatments. She also suggested a few coordinating throw pillows for the sofas, and I agreed. Two weeks later, a date was set for installation. Doris said it would take two hours. She and her team arrived promptly and finished the complete installation in an hour and a half. They were methodical, as they installed the hardware and curtains. No detail went unchecked. Very impressive! Before she left, we agreed that two fringed matching throw pillows would be perfect to finish off the Living room. She ordered the additional fabric and delivered the pillows a week later. All of her work is perfection and top notch quality. My spouse and I could not have been more pleased! I look forward to hiring Doris again, to finish off our new sun room with her beautifully, creative window treatments!

Doris was only one of two people who called me back from Angies list (and I called 8). She is so organized and precise. She took an old bedspread (duvet to be precise) and conveted it from a twin to a queen. I had really liked the fabric and a dead friend had made it but there was no more of the fabric) Doris asked for a picture of the twin duvet and told me by email how much fabric I would need. I went and found some coordinating fabric and brought it to her. When I got there she had a design she had drawn based on the pics I had sent her via email. In 10 minues we were done. She made one suggestion for an extra pillow which was a minum price and it was a great suggestion. It was finished in three weeks with what seemed to be a fair price (although I havent shopped a lot for that sort of thing) and it looks great. One of the least effortless home decor stuff I have ever done. She does home consults evidently and the only thing I would change is I might have let her help me pick out the fabric from the get-go. What a find!

I would definitely recommend Doris Custom Design, and I will use her again myself. Her work is very good, professional and courteous. She has a good level of attention to detail, matching patterns in fabric across seams and as appropriate for the windows. This was a very pleasant experience. Their prices are very competitive, and will likely beat out any brick and mortar custom design shops.

She seemed very professional and credible but I didn't purchase anything. Based on the customer service and interaction I would recommend her. The quote seemed very reasonable but I wasn't prepared to make a decision at the time. I would be comfortable using her in the future.

Overall very smooth, no issues.

I contacted Doris in early-April renew window treatments for my family room. She suggested I e-mail her photos of the room with furniture placement near the windows. I was having the room remodeled with the dark wood paneling painted a lighter color. Doris came the following week with many sample fabrics as well as illustrations of the best window treatments for the room. She was fantastic and knew my style right away. She suggested the rod be hung closer to the ceiling to make the room look larger. We decided on pinch pleated draperies (lined) with 2-way openings. She also suggested I could go to the fabric store and purchase the fabric I wanted. That was not necessary. She brought just the perfect fabric I was looking for. I told her the room would be painted in early June, so I did not need a quick turn-around time. (which she said is normally within 2-3 weeks). She has a fabulous web site you can go to look at her prior work. Doris was a pure delight to work with and had many helpful suggestions re. the room in general. I also contracted with her to purchase the rods and on the day of installation, her installer arrived with Doris and promptly installed the rods and curtains. The rods are quite nice, match the room and lamps perfectly. Doris has an eye for design and detail. This was not a large job by any standard, but she treated it like it was a mini-mansion she was working on. Thanks Doris.

The process went very smoothly. Once we decided on a treatment and selected the material, the curtains were made quickly.
