This was my second experience with this firm. I liked their work so much the first time, I hired them again for these two pieces. The first thing to admire about this company is Mr. Haridi's genuine enthusiasm for his work. He has the utmost interest in insuring that the final product is high quality workmanship that does justice to the piece of furniture being restored/refinished. He met me at a storage unit in Leesburg to view the two pieces of furniture and transported them to his shop in Sterling. These two pieces of furniture were purchased 30 years ago in England. Although I don't know their provenance, they are quite old. Both pieces have been moved all over the U.S. during my naval career. The finish on the bench was worn, had several water marks from plumbing mishaps overhead, and had separation between joined pieces of wood due to the age of the furniture. Mr. Haridi took the entire bench (with a high back composed of many tongue/grove slats) apart. Over time, the slats developed some slack between the pieces, so he carefully matched the wood with a mini slat on the end. He also inserted a small piece of wood in each side of the bench to compensate for separation of the sides due to age. Likewise he took apart the hall stand and reglued it, as well as shining the metal fixtures. We spent some time selecting the just right colors and finish for each piece of furniture. The end result is two beautiful pieces of furniture that showcase the antique English oak and are truly heirlooms to pass down to future generations. Mr. Haridi and his son delivered the furniture last week and took great care in ensuring there was no damage to the furniture or my house during transport or set up. Both this job, and his previous work for me, have been exceptional.
Description of Work: Reglued and refinished two English antiques, a 6x7 foot tall wooden bench and a 6 foot tall wooden hall stand for umbrellas/hats/coats. The bench is like a church pew, with a tall back. The price was $2250, however, Mr. Haridi made me aware of an Angie's list special that took $200 off the total cost.

After the service, the chair looks brand new as does the piano bench. I am thrilled with the work. This company takes the time and makes the effort to understand what is expected by the customer and also to convey to the customer what can be done and what cannot be done.
Description of Work: Dining room chair had an arm that had fallen off and needed to be re-attached. Plus, the dog had chewed badly the bottom rungs of the chair and they needed to be refinished. I also had a piano bench that had been badly damaged in a move. The top was no longer connected, some of the veneer had been torn off, the leg support had been disconnected, and it was badly scratched.

They did a very nice job. The owner was fabulous and responsive. He did exactly what he said he was going to do when he said he was going to do it. I was very impressed by that particular gentleman, and so was my husband. He just did a great job. They treated me extremely well on the phone. He was very pleased to be part of Angie's List. Everything worked out brilliantly. The work is very expensive, but it is also very time-consuming. You get what you pay for.

It was absolute pleasure experience from start to finish. We specially appreciated that, when they had sanded the piece of furniture down. We came in and were allowed to choose the stain based on how it looks, no matter how many stains we needed to try. He wanted us to be very happy with what we were going to get. He spent a great deal of time with us and we could tell the same about the customers who were there. He absolutely takes pride in his work and he likes to see the look on the people face, when they come to take their finish product. They would be absolutely happy and pleased. He was extremely knowledgeable about furniture, wood and finishes. He was extremely knowledgeable about every aspect about the restoration and refinishing. He was ahead of the schedule and have definitely recommended to 3 or 4 other people. They have an outstanding business.

Antiques & Furniture Restore Inc. did re-upholstering for four of our kitchen chairs. I had tried calling three other services, and they were the ones that actually answered the phone and answered my questions in a professional manner. The owner, Haridi was respectful and welcoming when we entered his shop. He made suggestions as to what patterns of fabric would look best on our chairs. He selected something very elegant from his discount section, so he voluntarily saved us a great deal of money. He estimated about a month to complete the chairs since he had a lot of customers and other work to complete in his shop. We told him that we were having company in two weeks, and asked if there was any way he could do it sooner. He said that he would try his best. In less than two weeks later, we were shocked to receive a call from him stating that we were finished the chairs, and could pick them up. What he did was beyond incredible! The chairs were BEAUTIFUL, and we got them in time for our company. We will be buying a new home and redecorating within the year, and are excited that we found Antiques & Furniture Restore, Inc. As far as we are concerned, we are now customers for life!

From the start the company was very customer oriented. Haridi got back to me with a cost estimate based on my description and a cell phone photo I emailed them. When I brought the chair in, Haridi was very personable and told me he could finish in a week. One week later he called and said my chair was ready. When I picked the chair up, he showed me how to clean the chair and instructed me regarding the best wood product to use. I very much appreciated learning what a professional uses!
Description of Work: Fixed broken arm support on an oak dining room chair. The amount spent was net of using the Angie's list groupon for $50 for $150 of services so the cost estimated was $225. I found the quality of the work to be excellent and would definitely go back!

First of all, I had no idea how much of a difference an excellent professional restoration can make. I was stunned by the results, largely because I had no idea that good wood lay underneath the decades of damage. I sent photos of the pieces to the restorer's email address for estimates before going for the deal - he responded right away with reasonable costs so I went ahead. I assumed that he'd be too busy to take the pieces for several weeks, but he came that weekend and said that he'd phone once the pieces were stripped so that I could come down to his shop (near Dulles) to choose stains. Haridi called a couple of weeks later to tell me that they were ready for my decisions, and that he was very impressed by the quality of the dresser's walnut and workmanship - the dresser that I thought was a piece of junk and was ready to throw away. Again, I was surprised at how soon he had gotten back to me. I went to his workshop and was amazed, they really were beautiful. He showed me several different stains and finishes, and helped me to see what the results would look like - in the end, I just wanted to defer to his judgment. Good decision. Haridi returned the finished pieces nine days after I visited the shop. Even my husband was impressed. Needless to say, Haridi left with two badly abused deco nightstands and the cabinet that matches the dresser he had just finished - the cabinet was in even worse condition than the dresser, but now I know that in Haridi's hands it can be brought back to life.
Description of Work: BEAUTIFULLY refinished 2 pieces: 1) 30-year old Lane mahogany cedar chest that had been horribly scratched up by frequent moving and two remarkably destructive kittens; 2) antique art deco dresser that I thought was a cheap piece and not worth restoring when I bought it at a flea market 15 years ago. I was contemplating putting it out on the sidewalk when I saw Haridi's offer.

Mr. Haridi did a fabulous job of refinishing the three cherry wood end tables that had a wood cane design on the bottom shelf. Since I couldn't go to his shop in Sterling, VA to select the stain color that I wanted, he took a picture of a piece of furniture that I wanted to coordinate the stain color with. The finished product couldn't have come out nicer and the stain color that he chose was perfect. Free-of-charge Mr. Haridi came to my home to pick-up and deliver the pieces of furniture. The price to refinish the three end tables would have been $825 but I saved $200 through "Angie's List Big Deal". He had stated that the job would take 3-4 weeks. I asked if he could have it completed in 2 weeks which he willingly did. Using the "Angie's List Deal" was an added bonus saving me money.

We brought the dressers in approximately 4 weeks ago. The dressers were in pretty bad shape---I had painted the wood some years ago and Haridi, the store owner, was able to show us that he could easily strip the paint and showed the beautiful wood underneath. One of the dressers was my great grandmother's from the early 1900's with a beautiful beveled mirror. Great care was taken in bringing in the dressers into the shop, and approximately 2 weeks later my husband and I came in to see the stripped down and sanded dressers. They looked so beautiful in their natural state! Then Haridi showed us what the different stains looked like on the dressers and let us pick the ones we wanted (mahagony for the chest or drawers, and walnut for the vanity with mirror). Haridi even found handles (something I haven't found in years) for the vanity. He works miracles with furniture! And Haridi's staff are very hard workers who did beautiful work on the sandind and staining. The finished products are just gorgeous and we couldn't be happier! Very much worth the $1500 . We would suggest anyone who needs furniture restored to trust it to Antique and Furniture Restoration in Sterling, VA.
