After sending a photo, we received an estimate. They came and picked up the secretary and took it to their workshop. About 1 and 1/2 weeks later I went to the workshop to pick out the stain. They had taken apart every piece of the secretary and repaired parts as needed. About 3-4 weeks later, they delivered the finished secretary. It is beautiful and we are very pleased with the service quality.
Description of Work: Antiques and Furniture provided excellent service. The owner was courteous and provided a detailed description of the process involved to restore and refinish a secretary we had inherited.

AFR stripped and sanded a dark stain from a set of three hand-carved end tables and refinished them with a lighter stain. They did only the exterior/visible surface, not inside the drawers. Much of the sanding had to be done by hand because of the carving, but they did a beautiful job and the tables look much nicer. The work was completed in a timely fashion and the price was reasonable for the work that was done. I also got some discounts that were applied to the price listed above.

The table turned out beautifully and the leaves match and blend very well considering the difficulty of the task and that the original portion of the table is very old. Mr. Haridi was very easy to work with and his craftsmanship speaks for itself. I now have a beautifully restored antique table. I am very pleased with the services provided by Antiques and Furniture Restoration and Mr. Haridi. I would definitely recommend them to others and use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I have an antique oak table that was previously owned by my grandparents that was in need of restoration and some repair. It was also missing the leaves to expand the table. I purchased two unfinished oak leaves, which needed planed and fitted to the table. I contacted Mr. Haridi for a quote and he even came to my house to pick up the table since I lived within the Sterling area. He was able to describe in detail the work required to restore the table and fit the leaves. Once the initial refinishing was completed, I was able to come see the table and pick out the stain.

I bought a big deal coupon for refinishing. I brought three pieces to show to Haridi - a chair, a table, and a tray. He told me right away that he couldn't restore the painting on the antique tray. But he seemed thrilled to work on the antique side table with mother of pearl inlay. It had a fair amount of wear and tear but he assured me he could replace the missing inlay and restore the piece to its original beauty. When the table was ready for the stain I went back out to the shop and Haridi showed me several options. We also discussed how I use the table and the amount of wear it would have to withstand. We decided on a French rub finish with a coat of varnish to protect it. The table turned out magnificiently and I felt like Haridi cared as much as I did about the result. Since I also brought a chair Haridi suggested that I buy a second big deal coupon which I subsequently did. This chair had French caning on the seat and back. There caning on the seat needed to be completely replaced, and the frame was really beaten up. Haridi suggested upholstering the seat and back since replacing the French caning was so expensive. I decided to do this and the result was terrific. I couldn't be more pleased with how both pieces turned out and I really appreciated the guidance that Haridi gave me throughout the process. I felt that my pieces were in good hands and will bring others to him in the future.

The expert craftsmanship seemed to bring the history of the furniture back to life. The finished product was well beyond our highest expectations.

Repair/refinish large round Drexel (circa 1960s) coffee table that is part of a living room/dining room set that had belonged to my mother before me so has great sentimental value as well as fine American made furniture. Haridi asked me to send a picture of the table and then came out to give an estimate and took the table that same evening. He had hoped to make the repair to the table without removing the finish, but found that too much needed to be done, so the finish was removed and the repair made. We went to his shop to pick out stain and could NOT find the repaired section it was done so well. He had special ordered some stains to try to match the old color and I was able to pick the one I liked best. The table was delivered back last night and it looks EXACTLY like it did before (minus the cracked edge piece) and matches the rest of the furniture in the set. The quality of the work was exceptional and I am so pleased to have this memory of my mother so perfectly restored. Haridi also looked at several other pieces of furniture that we have that are solid, American made and need refinishing and/or repair and has provided us with some reasonable quotes. With the $50 for $150 Big Deal, it just makes things that much better. I would recommend anyone to contact Haridi. His appreciation and knowledge about the quality of your treasured pieces really makes the whole experience A+.

Excellent communication, terrific results. I had two items of furniture I was holding on to for years and my family thought I should just throw them out. The results were stunning. These items are truly beautiful now, but they were in very bad shape when I brought them to Haridi. Highly recommend; I was completely satisfied with this company, the work was meticulously and beautifully done.

I called and made an appointment to drop my chair off on a Saturday afternoon. The owner greeted me when I arrived and gave me a tour of his workroom. I showed him my chair and told him what I wanted done. He told me that it would cost more than the chair was worth. However, I still wanted the work performed for sentimental reasons plus this was a really comfortable chair. He then sanded the arm of the chair and tried out several different colors of stain. We agreed on one. He had a remnant of upholstery material that was perfect and was of adequate quantity to re-upholster my chair. He explained that the reason he was expensive was that he did not cut corners. He would take the chair apart to reglue all the joints. He has another person that he sends the chair to perform the upholstery work. He then showed me how he paints the furniture. The visit with him was like a wonderful field trip and worth it by itself. He said it would take about 6 weeks which was fine since I was in no hurry. The chair was ready on time as promised. I returned to pick it up, again on a Saturday afternoon. He showed me the work he had done on it and explained what the upholsterer had done in detail. It was very well executed, with no short cuts, and looked great. I was very pleased with the chair and the quality of the work performed and felt the price I was charged was appropriate for the quality of the work. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

This is a long overdue update. I had Antiques and Furniture Restoration refinish 2 antique drop leaf end tables for me. The owner Mr. Haridi was very kind and, because I was due to have knee surgery, took a look at my furniture right away and let me choose the refinished color instead of having me return. When I was able to come back for my furniture, it was absolutely beautiful. The deep water marks which had removed all the finish on both pieces were no longer there - couldn't even tell there had been water marks. The grain of the wood was restored. The cherry finish impeccable. I no longer have cloth on the furniture to hide the pieces. I now display them proudly.

The owner was a joy to deal with. He takes great pride in doing a quality job, and the furniture looked brand new when he was done with it. It is also sturdier now than it has been in decades, thanks to the regluing. Pick up and delivery went smoothly and occurred at the promised times. While the cost seemed a little bit high, I have to admit that the design of the chairs made them very labor-intensive. I would definitely use this company again.

I have used this company's services for several projects. Each of the pieces I entrusted to them were antiques purchased at a yard sale find or from Upscale Resale, for very little money. They all had great potential, but had work needed that was beyond my capabilities - including restoration of a water-damages bed footboard, stripping of high-gloss and cracke paint from a medicine cabinet, and restoration of a table with a damaged shelf that wes integrated into the table legs. In ALL cases, the work performed was top-notch. They are very careful to maintain the integrity of the piece, and match the original colors/hardware/notches, etc.. They take the time to do the job right, and have a real appreciation for each piece and the history behind it. This sort of craftsmanship is becoming more and more rare - what a refreshing change to find someone you can trust with your treasures! The location is a bit tricky the first time (look for the AGI sign in the office park), but it is worth the trip. They have some spectacular pieces in their shop, all of which they have restored and that can be purchased directly from the showroom floor. I only wish I had the space to fit more in my house! Pick up and delivery service is also offered for a fee, when the items cannot be managed by the owner on his/her own (or they don't fit in your car :)) This is a great convenience.
Description of Work: I bought an antique nightstand with solid marble top from a second-hand shop, that had loose corners/joints, and an open shelf at the bottom that was water-damaged with warping/peeling paint/wood deterioration. The open shelf was also integrated into the ornate table legs - rather than just being nailed between them (i.e., the shelf had holes in in, through which each table leg was inserted). Because of the ornate carvings on the legs, simply drilling a round hole for each leg would have left gaps. They had to totally remove and replace the shelf, and re-apply the legs form that point down to the floor. The project took about 4 weeks to complete, and they called me after 2 weeks to come in and pick the stain color that i wanted for the entire finished piece. The finished product is fantastic! Without knowing the history, you cannot tell that such significant work was done on the piece. I fully expect that it will last for another 100 years now!

I don't ever praise the services of providers unless they merit it, and in this case, I can say without hesitation that the experience of working with Mr. Haredi was completely worthwhile. I'd seen some of his work on his Web site, but was amazed by the excellent work that he did on a table and chair that I gave him. The table was covered in two coats of paint, purple beneath a lime green. Mr. Haredi showed me the lustrous wood that lay beneath, and carefully worked with me to choose the best stain for that piece and for the oaken rocker that I gave him to work on. The coupons that I used from Angie's Deals helped keep down costs, and Mr. Haredi's work was outstanding. I highly recommend him; in fact I just took two more pieces to him so that he can again work his magic.

The table is one of those tables with a lyre in the base and the top folds open to twice its size, and also swivels to reveal a hidden storage area, like for writing materials or small games. It had been in my boyfriend's grandmother's house, surviving battering by numerous children, and bore many scars to show it. The least was an unevenly faded and worn finish, all the way up to a broken leg with the last 3" missing, and other broken parts. The restoration price was way more than buying a new piece, and the shop was very open about that (which I already knew). But it was a very sentimental piece, so I decided to go for it. I wish I had "before" pictures, because the table looks brand new now. After the table had been dismantled and stripped, I was invited back to choose a stain color. Each was applied in a test square and allowed to dry, so I could see just how it would be in the end. He also showed me some finished pieces of similar wood and stain, so I could judge the final look, too. Even disassembled and stripped, I couldn't believe the craftsmanship gone into the piece, with replacing the missing portion of the leg, a lyre "string", and infilling numerous chips. The finished piece is simply gorgeous. It's hard to believe it's the same piece. He had to show me where the repairs were, I couldn't see them myself. For all the work put into the table, from dismantling to restoration and refinishing, I feel I paid a fair or more-than-fair price. Everyone I spoke with in the shop was very friendly and gentlemanlike. I plan to take 2 or 3 more pieces there for repair!

Amazing job on the refinishing. Went the extra step on taking care of some damage to the wood. Only complaint was reused nails in same holes, so toy chest lid literally collapsed when all the nails came out - placed wood screws in and problem solved - that shouldn't have happened, but such a minor point in the overall beautiful wood restoration.

I have a four-panel Chinese lacquer screen that is not lnly valuable in its own right, but many times more so as I used it as doors on a piece of fine furniture built around it. This is a unique and elegant piece that is irreplacable to me. Unfortunately, the two right-hand panels had developed a web of fine cracks in the laquer, with chips of the paint underneath falling off at an increasing rate. About to lose the use of the entire piece of furniture, I saw the coupon offered on Angie's list for Antiques and Furniture Restoration, Inc., and was impressed by the favorable reviews of previous clients. Mr. Haridi was very pleasant and knowledgeable on the phone, so I had him pick up my screen panels to refiinish them. I had no idea if he would be successful, as they were so badly cracked and peeling. Three weeks later, he came over to return and reinstall my screen panels. He had literally worked a miracle; the design was whole, and the entire surface now was sealed and smooth lacquer! I couldn't believe my eyes. He explained the many steps he went through to save and restore my screens, including two trips to a lacquer expert in 'Baltimore for his help. I was and am very grateful to him for his dedication and meticulousness in saving my beautiful entertainment unit. And I highly recommend his services to anyone with a need for fine furniture and art restoration. Sincerely, Ms. Viviane Silverman Falls Church, VA

We had the Angie’s List coupon; so it wound up being less than the estimated price. My experience went very well. The crack is barely visible now. Supposedly, we had left a piece with the movers who were supposed to take it to their person to fix it, but it turns out that they did not do anything. He gave us a month to do it although he said that we might be able to get it in the first week. He got it back to us within 2 weeks. We are very happy with the results.

The owner came to my home, looked at the pieces, and gave me a price to which I agreed. We discussed how the repairs would be done , andhe asked if I could go out to his shop the following Saturday to choose the color of stain that I wanted for each piece. By Saturday the pieces had been stripped and sanded and were ready to be finished, and he really took his time listening to exactly what I wanted in terms of color and finish. I was very pleased with the quality of the repairs; the two pieces look beautiful.
Description of Work: I had a small antique sideboard that had been banged around a bit- the legs and front edges were chipped badly. I also had an antique drop leaf table with a crack in the top which had been repaired many years before but was ready to come apart. Both pieces needed refinishing. I asked Antiques and Furniture Restore, Inc. to repair the damage and refinish both pieces.

Mr. Haridi, his son and his assistant were each an absolute pleasure to work with. I also visited his very nice shop to pick the stain. He did an excellent job. My husband was very pleased with how well the cabinet now matches the table. I am sure that my grandmother is smiling from heaven, knowing that an item she sacrificed so much to obtain is still in service within the family.
Description of Work: Mr. Haridi expertly sanded, stained and refinished my late grandmother's china cabinet to closely match the oak dining table that my husband purchased before we married. He advised me about new hardware, which I ordered and had sent to his shop. He replaced the cabinet backing with a stronger backboard to make a much nicer presentation. He picked up and delivered.
