The work from this organization is superior especially for the price. The chair was a Chinese mahogany and a deep red that I knew would be difficult to match. They nailed it! The other was a major project of my own work (all curves no straight lines). I am proud of it and as I said was not interested in ruining the woodwork with a poor finish. Again, they nailed it. The skills needed to do this work are disappearing, tech-education in our schools is a dying art, so I and now you know of at least one refinisher I can rely on. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: I contracted for the refinishing of one Chair that I had repaired, and the initial finishing of a custom stool that I built from scratch. I am an amateur cabinet maker, and one of my skills is not putting the finish (paint) my work.

The price is incredibly reasonable. The service was terrific. They were just incredible. He is just head and shoulders above others in the area doing that same work. I was so impressed with their quality of work that I have even talked to others. They even sent me a picture when the chair was stripped down to the wood. It is very clear what he is doing. You really feel and know what exactly is going on.
Description of Work: I not only had one chair completely rebuilt, I have now given them two more.

I had a nice antique side chair that needed to be fixed. The front section fo the caned seat had broken away from the chiar. It is now fixed and ready for caning. They did a great job. The other had been broken and was a part of a set. The back had been loose and no amouant of tightening would fix it. It continued come loose until it borken. it really wasn't a very good chair. But I needed it to be fixed to keep with the set Once again they did a great job.
Description of Work: I had two badly broken chairs. They were both in bad shape and he suggested I don't fix them. That's how bad they were. They needed gluing and dowling to put them back together.

I brought my grandmother's antique love seat in to be refinished and reupholstered. It had been sitting in my sister's garage for a couple of years. The wood had signs of wear and tear, and the upholstery was in terrible shape - old, dusty, with the bottom falling out. Mr. Haridi showed me around his shop, explaining the process, and answered any questions I had. It became obvious that Mr. Haridi was knowledgeable about his work and that he enjoys and takes pride in what he does. These attributes were evident in the finished product. That old, beat up love seat was transformed into a beautiful piece of furniture.

Excellent experience. See description above.
Description of Work: Our 30-year-old Danish teak dining room table (irreplaceable; no longer made) had scratches, water rings, & other marks despite my vigilance over the years. Mr. Haridi removed all the damage, sealed the wood, and coated it with a satin finish so that the table--in both color and luster--exactly matches the chairs. It's gorgeous! Not only does it look like a new table, but now that it's sealed (vs. the original raw teak) I no longer have to be so protective of it. Or oil it twice a year. Also, the table was finished in 5 weeks vs. the 6 to 8 week estimate. Mr. Haridi is delightful to work with and extremely professional. I couldn't be more pleased.

This was a wonderful experience! Within a couple of days after I contacted him, Haridi came to my house and picked up my furniture. My estimate was extremely fair and the work was completed in a matter of a couple of weeks. The quality was exceptional and I appreciated the time he took to explain exactly what work was going to be done and how it would be done. I have recently had work done by another furniture re finisher in the area and was extremely disappointed in the quality and punctuality (took him over 6 months and the work is still not right). I will also be taking Antiques and Furniture Restoration the furniture that was not done correctly by a previous company. I have no doubt that he will make it look wonderful! Antiques and Furniture Restoration did a fabulous job from start to finish!
Description of Work: I gave a small mahogany drop leaf table, a judges chair and a side chair to Antiques and Furniture Restoration to refinish for me. All pieces were not in great shape, but had been a part of my family for years. One of the chairs also needed to be re upholstered.

Mr. Haridi gave us an estilmate that was given based on an emailed photo viewed on his phone. It was higher than another estimate we got, but that person told us that the price included only restuffing the furniture. Mr. Haridi told us he would be putting in new springs, so we went with him. When I brought the chair in , he saw that it was wider than it looked in the picture, and that he would need to charge us a little more. When they took the chair apart, they found that the wood that the new upholstery would be attached to needed to be replaced as it had too many tack holes from past reupholstering. I know that my parents had had it reupholstered three times, and who knows what had happened to it before, so we believed him. The job was beautiful, with the upholstery being matched up nicely from side to side and top to bottom. The seat is comfortably firm, without that hill in the middle that one often sees in antique furniture. We felt that the price was justified by the work.
Description of Work: We gave Mr. Haridi an eastlake style antique rocker to reupholster. In the end the interior frame, springs, and padding were all replaced

All the glowing accounts of service provided by Mr. Haridi and his company can be echoed by us. We found that Mr. Haridi not only possessed great expertise, but also, an enthusiasm and love for his craftmanship. He has a pride in his work that is not often found these days. He is very professional, easy to work with and willing to listen and provide the level of service that the customer wants. He is, also, very fair and up front about what will go into restoring each piece and what he will charge. Their work is not inexpensive, but it is well-worth having a finished piece that will be an enduring treasure. We were so satisfied with our original order that we gave Mr. Haridi two more pieces to refinish when he brought us the three original pieces.
Description of Work: Original order ( 3-1-12)for $1,597.50: repaired and refinished an antique desk and desk chair (including upholstered seat), and repaired and polished a small antique chair Second order (3-20-12) for $800: repaired and refinished a small antique end table and another small wooden chair.

I found Mr. Haridi's shop on Angie's List, and called to see if he would be able to perform the work on the chair that was needed. We made an appointment to meet at his shop in Sterling, VA, later that week. At our meeting, Mr. Haridi was punctual, very professional and friendly. He examined my chair and told me what he would do to repair and restore it for use. In addition, he showed me around his shop demonstrating the quality of his craft through work he had recently completed. I had planned to get several estimates for the work, but after reading the many exceptional reviews on Angie's List, and meeting Mr. Haridi, I was so impressed with his expertise and the obvious quality of his work, that I accepted his estimate on the spot. I was not disappointed! My only caviat in leaving the chair for repair was that I needed it to be completed in time for my granddaughter's birthday in May. Mr. Haridi said that would not be a problem; approximately three weeks later, he called to say the work was complete. I picked up the chair yesterday, and could not be more pleased. My expectations were definitely met in quality and timliness of completion. I have other pieces of furniture that could use Mr. Haridi's skill and attention, so I will definitely use his expertise in the future; and I have already mentioned him to some family and friends. It is very difficult these days to find wood craftsmen with such quality, and skill expertise, who take pride in their work. I cannot recommend Mr. Haridi and his shop, Antiques and Furniture Restoration, Inc. more highly!
Description of Work: I have an antique child's chair that needed repair (joint tightening and re-gluing), as well as stain touch-up and cleaning, plus a new upholstered seat, before I could give it to my granddaughter. Mr. Haridi and his craftsmen did an excellent job of repairing the chair to look like the original, and practically new; but without a total refinishing. I provided the fabric, and Mr. Haridi had an upholstery expert make an entirely new seat. He stripped off the old fabric (several layers), and replaced the seat padding before applying the fabric.

Excellent work. I definitely would go back and recommend him to anyone. Nice to see someone whom is knowledgeable with an genuine apreciation for his field and has integrity work.
Description of Work: I had two item refinished. One side table next to my bed and a chair infront of my computer. The bedside side table was a piece I inherited from my mother and grew up with so I was emotionally sort of attached to it. I had it refinished awhile back but the top was looking worn. He did an excellent job. I went with little expectation despite what He told me about of himself. But I trusted Angie's list inthat I feel the people sent to me are honest and do a good job. But to my surprise he did an excellent job. I was very happy. The chair too I purchased as an antique and several pieces fell off and a few lost. He attached the pieces and actually made one to compliment the missing ones. The chair was cleaned up and looking very good.

Work was completed within two weeks and we are well satisfied with the quality of the repairs. One repair of a chair (in several pieces, with a chunk of the top rail missing) was nothing short of astounding. The top rail repair is virtually undetectable. Mr. Harari is an artist who takes justifiable pride in his work. We found his pricing fair and his repair work excellent.

Overall, I am thrilled with the completed work. Haridi was easy to work with and accommodated my crazy schedule as far as drop off, choosing stain, and pick up. I will use him again.
Description of Work: Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!!! Service was for the refinishing/restoration of my great grandmother’s late 1800 platform rocker that had not been cared for in the last 50 years. The piece is just beautiful. Haridi hand stripped the wood – it is silky smooth and the color is uniform and gorgeous. I provided the fabric for the seat and back and Haridi had a professional upholster complete the textile work.

I had used this company several years ago to refinish a piece of furniture for me and was very pleased. I received an e-mail coupon from Angie's list for services from this company. I e-mail Haridi with a photo of the chair to receive an on-line estimate as I had no idea how much it would cost to replace or repair the legs of this chair. I was pleased with the estimate and made arrangements for him to pick up the chair as I could not move it myself. The entire process took about 3 weeks. He did a wonderful job and the chair is good as new (it is about 38 years old and means a lot to me).

I had an antique English tea table, early Georgian, that was badly in need of repair. The job was done beautifully and I am very pleased with the way it has turned out. I had purchased an Angie's deal coupon for $150.00 worth of restoration and I added $125.00 for the job. It was money well spent. I would highly recommend this company for fine furniture restoration. They deliver what they promise.

They refinished an old writing desk (it was my grandmother's -- one of our few heirlooms from her) and did a tremendous job; they also had to rebuild a piece of the desk that had broken off years ago, and you would never know it had been missing. The finished piece is beautiful -- in fact, they discovered that it originally was a different finish (it had acquired a lot of grime over the years). They were extremely responsive and flexible at every stage, including: 1) while getting an estimate (providing different estimates for different combinations of tasks), 2) picking up the furniture from our house (doing so when most convenient for us), 3) working with us to select a stain for the finished desk (letting us visit the store on a Saturday afternoon when we happened to be in the area and trying out several options), and 4) delivering the finished piece. There were some original labels and stamps on the desk, which they made sure to preserve -- that was a nice bonus touch. Friendly throughout the process, and the price was very competitive compared to other estimates (they also honored an Angie's List coupon). Highly recommended!!

An excellent experience from start to finish. Haridi is a pro.
Description of Work: Haridi did an outstanding job fixing, cleaning, gluing and re-upholstering our antique corner chair. He came to our house to pick up the chair and returned it 4 weeks later to our house. It was so easy working with Haridi. The work he did on the chair is amazing. It was in pieces, wobbly, the wood was very dark and the inlaid was not really visible. Now the chair is very sturdy to sit on, it is much lighter in color (more like the original I presume) and all the inlaid work is visible. He did a fantastic job, was very friendly and most importantly Haridi is passionate about what he does. He was genuinely excited to show us how the chair came out! We highly recommend Haridi.

Haridi is the best! I contacted Antiques and Furniture Restoration via email to request an estimate for two projects (refinishing a dining room table and reupholstering a chair). Haridi responded almost instantly with an estimate for both items. I decided to start with the table and put the chair on hold for a bit. After answering a few of my questions via email and over the phone, he and his helper arranged to pick up the table at my house. They carefully disassembled it and transported it to their facility in the Dulles area. At Haridi's suggestion, I went to the facility a couple of days later to pick out the stain that would best match the other pieces. He showed me the sanded table/leaves and then spent quite some time helping me decide on the right one (who knew there were so many variations on walnut?). The table was finished about 3 weeks after that, give or take a few days. Haridi and his helper arranged for a delivery time that was convenient for me. Once at my house, they carefully carried the pieces back inside and then assembled and dusted it. Haridi reviewed the table with me to make sure I was happy with it, and he also answered my questions about how best to care for the new finish. The end product looks great, and I couldn't be happier with the whole experience. Thanks so much!

We have an antique rocker that has been in my husband's family for about 150 years. It had a broken frame, torn upholstery, a sagging back, horsehair filling, broken springs, and a lot of wear and tear, including that imposed by three hyper little boys growing up. You could tell it had been shored up many times. We were going to send it to the dump but decided to get on Angie's list and found Haridi's shop. We took the chair in "just to see." He quoted us a price of about $850, including the Angie's list discount of 10 percent. In the end we actually ended up paying less than what he quoted. The work is beautiful. The frame is back to its original beauty, and the upholstery job was fantastic, with double-cording around the edges. And it's comfortable! Who would have thought? The stain is just right, and Haridi took pains to keep as much of the original chair as he could, such as using some of the original metal brackets and nails. In addition, Haridi could not have been more pleasant or professional to work with. It is fun just to browse around his shop and look at his projects in various stages. You can tell this is a man who loves his work. He also kept us well informed along the way, sending us photos of the progress he was making on the chair. We did not expect to have it for Christmas, but that's what we got! Great work! Couldn't be happier. Definitely recommend.
