Academy Sealers

We scheduled an appointment on-line at Academy's website. A follow-up email was received with a confirmation that the services would be performed the next day between 8 and 5. They arrived in the early afternoon we transacted the financial business. Then driveway was coated. The driveway was brushed off to remove any debris. Some of the cracks were filled with a filler. The end result of that filler is that a 1/4" crack ends up with a 4-6" wide mark that is produced by the smoothing tool and is noticeable under the driveway coating, when the job is complete. These wide strokes made by the smoothing tool causes you to ask, "Why do they do that?" A smaller tool would do the same thing and make the large wide marks much smaller so it isn't so noticeable. The workers completed the job, put a yellow tape across the end of the driveway and left. The end result is that the driveway was coated and the work was performed in a professional way. It looks good (except for the noticeable wide marks made by the smoothing tool that spreads the preliminary filler.

Sealed my driveway for $58.00 (got a 10% discount because my neighbor and I had our driveways done). Used crack filler for some of the larger cracks in the asphalt while also missing several cracks. Driveway was sealed at about noon, and had heavy rainfall later that day. No follow up phone call to check their work, or offer to re-seal. Overall, it looked as though it was a rushed job.

It went as expected. I was out at the time so Academy Sealers left the invoice in our screen door. Everything was fine and we were pleased with the work.

Academy Sealers did I a driveby estimate for sealing our driveway and then mailed us a postcard with the job and price estimate. The estimate was the firm price, no hidden costs or attempts to sell us more work which is really appreciated and unusual these days. The first seal did not completely fill in our inch wide crack. No problem. We called and no questions asked, they came back out a week later and did a second seal. Always polite and professional on the phone. My only comment is they gave us a day for the work but not a time window. Not a problem if one is not home and cars are already away, but a time window is nice to have if you are home all day and for planning purposes want to use the driveway for unloading. We will use them again.

We were about to list our house for sale and wanted to have the driveway resealed. We had used Academy Sealers in the past and I called them, asking to have the service done on short notice. They accommodated me even though their schedule was full. The driveway was resealed the next morning. The work was done fast and professionally. The price was very fair. I highly recommend Academy.

The driveway was sealed just before we bought the house 2 years ago. The driveway needed to be sealed again. We used Academy Sealers based on positive reviews and a decent price. Driveway looks just like it did when we bought. No complaints at all.

Their truck leaked motor oil on the driveway which I disliked, and the sealant wasn't evenly dispersed. However, they had a good price and responded quickly to even out the sealant which I respected.

We got a quote for our driveway by mail. Looked them up on Angie's list and they looked good. I called them and scheduled a time. they came inthe morning, sealed off the driveway and applied the emulsion with a squeegee in 15 minutes and they were done. We've dealt with door to door salesmen and received tonnes of home improvement flyers and they are awful. But this was an quick, easy and painless experience. I would definitely hire them again.

Our asphalt driveway was getting worn and cracked. We contacted Academy Sealers to do the job. Unfortunately, the day they were scheduled to do the work, rain was predicted. I was worried that we would pay for something that might be ruined by the rain. Thankfully, Academy Sealers called and rescheduled for after the rain stopped. They came right on schedule and put bright orange tape across the end of our driveway to remind us and others to not drive on the newly sealed driveway for the next 48 hours. They pre-treated the larger cracks and then spread the sealer over the whole driveway. Our driveway looks fabulous, like it is brand new! We are very pleased.

Academy responded by email to my inquiry and sent a estimator out, who gave a written estimation and talked with me about the process. We got another, cheaper estimate but chose Academy because of their estimator and reputation. The crew that applied the sealant arrived on the day specified and did an excellent job - very professional. We have nothing but praise for Academy.

Perfect all the way. Did not need me to be home, yet showed up as scheduled when scheduled. Did a first rate job for a very low price.

Fast, professional, punctual, and very happy with service

Ok, two years ago is when it all started. in 2011, I made arrangements for Academy to seal my driveway. On the set date, they did not seal my drive, but I noticed a house down the street (one digit difference in address) that DID have a driveway sealed. Easy mistake, no problem yet. I called and rescheduled. Second date came and went, no seal. I called and they said that the weather was supposed to be bad (sunny day) and that is why they didn't come out. Ok, its a stretch, but I'll bite. third time they came out, they did a good job, thick seal. BUT they got a lot of overspray on my siding. Had to ask three times to get someone to come out and clean it off. They did, but the chemical they used left a chalky film on my siding that does not come off with powerwasher. Bummer. Fast forward to this year. I had some memory lapse because i called them again. I couldn't remember which company did it last time, but I got the flier in the mail and gave them a call. Set date came and went. NO SEAL again. i called and they said they were sorry they missed the appointment. That was it. I did not reschedule.

My neighbor and I signed up together to get a 10% discount. The team came out and basically smeared black tar like substance over the two car driv eways in less than 30 minutes. I can't say that the cracks were sealed or even caulked if the cracks were more than 1/4 inch wide which they are supposed to be but the "sealer" did not fill in or cover the cracks either as after a month the cracks were back. The driveway looks black and after 6 months through the summer it turns a dull gray even after power washing. I cannot say that this is a quality product that protects your driveway from the elements. I suppose if you want to sell your house and want the driveway to look new then this is a cheap way to go but if your looking to preserve your driveway as a home owner keep shopping.

The service was performed fast, on time by nice polite folks who did a great job.

Showed up as agreed and sealed driveway. Sealing of cracks needed call-back work, to which the company readily agreed. Ultimately, the quality was "A", and I down-rated this because of the need for a comeback. I would certainly use this company again.

Some of the area was damaged by power washer. The crack filler and sealer didn't completely cover up the damage. Told them about the problem. Manager came out and offered some suggestions but stated that the damaged area could not be completely fixed with crack filler and sealer. Offered to apply another coat of crack filler and sealer at cost of materials but said that complete restoration would require re-paving. Agreed to try the second application before pursuing more costly alternatives. They were very responsive - came out to assess the situation within a day of calling the issue to their attention and agreed to perform the service the next business day. The second application was performed the next business day and resulted in a noticeable improvement. I was pleased with the responsiveness, willingness to try to address the problem, and the final result.

Excellent job - customer service answered the phone immediately to answer my questions and work on driveway - sealing was outstanding. Will use them again & refer to my friends.

Received postcard in the mail w/custom quote of $75. Called and made an appt. I asked what time they would arrive. They stated they would arrive sometime between 8 am - 5 pm and if I called on day of service they could provide a better estimate of arrival time. I called at 8:30 am on day of service. They said they would arrive between 11:30 - 2:30 (approx.). By 3 pm they had not showed, I called and they said they would be arriving soon and definitely in the next two hours. By 5 pm they had not arrived and they never called to update me. At 5 pm I called to cancel the service. He said a crew would be arriving soon. I said I wanted to cancel as I had already been told this two hours prior. He said alright and hung up. No apology or attempt to rectify the situation.

Arrived on time, filled in little cracks. Very neat on edges where sideway meets driveway and taped off entrance.

I received a postcard giving me a quote of $195 to seal the driveway. I checked their website and saw that they applied the emulsion with a squeegie, and didn't spray it on. That's what I wanted. Then I checked their status on Angie's List (looked good), and then emailed their office Saturday, and after two or three email exchanges that day, we set the date for the following Thursday. They called Wednesday to delay one day, and then called Thursday to delay another day because of rain. These delays were not a problem for us. They arrived Saturday, blew off the grass and debris from the driveway, poured a thick emulsion in the cracks, and then applied the driveway sealer with the squeegie. They finished in about an hour, put tape across the driveway, took my check, and left. I am please with the results, and how easy they were to work with. I did spend time before they arrived cutting back grass that had grown over the driveway, and trimmed the shrubs along the driveway too. My take is that it probably would cost me $80 to $90 for the materials, and I was willing to pay for the labor because I can no longer lift and carry those 5 gallon buckets of sealer. So, a good experience overall.

Sealed driveway without filling in some major cracks. When called they came back and painted something over the cracks, but since they did not reseal the driveway, the whole thing looks bad. I am getting someone out to do the driveway over.
